Objective: This study intended to analyze parenting characteristics, difficulties and support needs of multi-cultural families that had children under 3 years old, in order to develop their supporting resources. Methods: This study performed semi-structured interviews with 7 mothers from multi-cultural families that had their young children enrolled at child care and education centers in Gyeonggi Do. The interview data transcribed were analyzed using the successive contents analysis, and led to 4 themes and 12 sub-themes. Results: First, the mothers from multi-cultural families were married without understanding the Korean language and culture. Second, the multi-cultural mothers didn't properly respond to their children's needs in interaction and language aspects. As a result, the multi-cultural support centers and child care and education centers gave help to them. Third, in the view of the difficulties facing mothers, parenting problems caused by the lack of information concerning child education, the biased burden of parenting, and the different parenting values of Korean families were all expressed by the mothers. Fourth, regarding support needs, providing individual professional support for children and child-raising support for mothers, customized language and employment support for mothers and parenting education for fathers and family education on multi-culturalism are needed. Conclusion/Implications: Suggestions for decreasing the difficulties facing multi-cultural families that had children under 3 years old were discussed.

Elasticsearch is an open source search and analytics engine that can search petabytes of data in near real time. It is designed as a distributed system horizontally scalable and highly available. It provides RESTful APIs, thereby making it programming-language agnostic. Full text search of multilingual text requires language-specific analyzers and field mappings appropriate for indexing and searching multilingual text. Additionally, a language detector can be used in conjunction with the analyzers to improve the multilingual text search. Elasticsearch provides more than 40 language analysis plugins that can process text and extract language-specific tokens and language detector plugins that can determine the language of the given text. This study investigates three different approaches to index and search Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) text (single analyzer, multi-fields, and language detector-based), and identifies the advantages of the language detector-based approach compared to the other two.

SIMS는 지역 정보 관리 환경을 지원하기 위한 통합 관리 시스템으로써 다양한 지역 및 비지역 자료를 관리하고 여러 응용작업을 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 지역데이터에 대한 질의를 처리하기 위해서 기존에 개발된 지역데이터 마이닝 질의 언어에 대한 모델과 지역 서술자를 기반으로 SQL형태의 객체 질의어를 새로이 정의한다. 또한 자동 데이터 수집, 인공위성 측위 서비스, 원격탐사, GPS, 모바일 컴퓨팅 등의 다양한 자료와 시지역(Spatio-Temporal)자료로부터 유용한 정보를 발견 할 수 있도록 SIMS를 기반으로 한 지역 데이터 마이닝 질의 언어를 설계하였다.

본 연구는 다문화청소년패널연구 2기 데이터를 활용하여 다문화 아동들의 심리사회 적응, 이중문화체험, 부모지지 및 양육태도, 학교생활이 한국어 능력 발달에 미치는 영향을 구조방정식 모형으로 분석하고 검증하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 외국인 가정과 중도입국 가정의 396명으로 2019년도에 초등학교 4학년에 재학하고 있었던 다문화 아동들이다. 연구 결과 심리사회 적응, 이중문화체험, 학교 활동은 다문화 아동들이 한국어를 구사하고 이해하는 능력에 직·간접적으로 의미있는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 학교 활동이 다문화 아동들의 한국어 능력 향상에 직접 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 친구의 지지와 교사의 지지가 교육 현장의 교육활동에서 매우 중요한 부분으로 다루어져야 한다는 것을 파악하였다. 이러한 결과는 다문화 아동을 위한 한국어 교육정책에서 한국어 능력 발달에 영향을 미치는 가장 이상적인 교육 환경이 필수적으로 반영되어야 한다는 것을 의미한다.

The purpose of study is to examine the effects of family support on the life satisfaction of elderly with disabilities and provide a ground necessary to improve it. Research was conducted on 167 elderly with hearing, visual and physical disabilities aged over 60 who were living in Seoul and Pusan. Telephone survey, sign language and interview, in accordance with types of disability, were adopted to collect data effectively. That is telephone survey was used for elderly with visual impairment whereas face-to-face interview for physical impairment and sign language for hearing impairment by volunteers. Collected data were analyzed, using hierarchical regression analysis. This study utilized two different models, direct effect model and buffering effect of social support in order to examine the effects of familial support on the life satisfaction of elderly with disabilities. Research findings suggest that the level of life satisfaction appeared to be low in general among elderly with disabilities and emotional family support exerted a positive effect on life satisfaction. In addition, it is empirically supported that emotional family support buffered the negative effect of economic limitations on life satisfaction. In other words, the effects of economic limitations as stress factor decreased with the increase in the frequency of emotional support, however, the level of life satisfaction decreased at a mercy of the stress factor of economic limitations with the decrease in the frequency of emotional support. Finally, this paper attempted to provide some alternatives to effectively improve life satisfaction among elderly with disabilities based on empirical findings.

The purpose of this study is to propose a plan for future developments of the Korean language textbooks for overseas by conducting the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) of the Korean language textbooks for overseas. For this purpose, this study analyse and evaluate the Korean language textbooks for overseas and the researches for developing Korean language textbooks for overseas. In this study, we have the IPA of the Korean language textbooks from the total of 158 surveys that were collected from teachers who teach Korean at King Sejong Institute and overseas university. The survey conducted about the Korean textbooks regarding the following questionnaires: 1) integrated and separated textbooks, 2) textbooks by learners' variables, 3) teaching materials by media type, 4) supplementary teaching materials, 5) diffusion and support of textbooks. The result of this survey found that supporting for the separated textbooks is needed, and there is a high demand for localized textbooks considering local characteristics. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that King Sejong Institute has a high demand for textbooks that can be downloaded from the web despite most of institutes are highly satisfied with paper textbooks. For the supplementary textbooks, it was found that vocabulary learning materials were needed for the King Sejong school students and additional reading materials for overseas college learners needed to be developed. We also found that it is necessary to support not only the development of textbooks but also smooth and efficient diffusion.

The purpose of this study is to investigate into the various ways that the computer technology is used for language testing. Three uses of computer technology are mentioned: 1) computer-adaptive language testing and computer-based language testing, 2) the scoring of performance-based language assessment, and 3) the development and use of psychometric tools for analyzing the scoring results. Although the various uses of computer technology could provide expanded possibilities for language testing development, the developers should be reminded that they are currently subject to indepth research which could support their validity. In this regard, the advantages and limitations of some uses of computer technology for language testing are discussed.

고성능의 질의응답 시스템을 구현하기 위해서는 사용자의 질의 유형의 난이도에 관계없이 의도를 파악할 수 있는 질의유형 분류기가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 문서 범주화 기법을 이용한 질의 유형 분류기를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 질의 유형 분류기의 분류 과정은 다음과 같다. 우선, 사용자 질의에 포함된 어휘, 품사, 의미표지와 같은 다양한 정보를 이용하여 사용자 질의로부터 자질들을 추출한다. 이 과정에서 질의의 구문 특성을 반영하기 위해서 슬라이딩 윈도 기법을 이용한다. 또한, 다량의 자질들 중에서 유용한 것들만을 선택하기 위해서 카이 제곱 통계량을 이용한다. 추출된 자질들은 벡터 공간 모델로 표현되고, 문서 범주화 기법 중 하나인 지지 벡터 기계(support vector machine, SVM)는 이 정보들을 이용하여 질의 유형을 분류한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 시스템은 질의 유형 분류 문제에지지 벡터 기계를 이용한 자동문서 범주화 기법을 도입하여 86.4%의 높은 분류 정확도를 보였다. 또한 질의 유형 분류기를 통계적 방법으로 구축함으로써 lexico-syntactic 패턴과 같은 규칙을 기술하는 수작업을 배제할 수 있으며, 응용 영역의 변화에 대해서도 안정적인 처리와 빠른 이식성을 보장한다.

In designing and implementing of a distributed system, a programming language which can describe and implement the various interactions between distributed processes in distributed systems is indispensible. High level language constructs such as concurrency. process synchronization between distributed processes and mutually exclusive access to common data could be built in a distributed programming language under the proper support of a language kernel. In this paper, we studied the language constructs a distributed programming language must have and specified the kernel supports necessary in implementing that high level language constructs.

This paper provides an overview of second language (L2) socialization research, some examples of recent studies addressing this topic, and finally a theoretical reconceptualization of L2 socialization. The three studies to be presented include secondary schools in an English-as-a-foreign-language context in Central Europe, mainstream classes in an English-as-a second-language school in Western Canada, and programs for English language and nursing skills for immigrant Canadians. This empirical, qualitative research does not support a linear, deterministic view of L2 socialization; such a view assumes, erroneously, that students or other novices are fully willing and able to adopt stable, monolingual, local target L2 norms and that members of the target culture are both competent and receptive to the newcomers. Some consequences and implications of these findings are discussed.
