Road type classification and K-factors are important role when design of number of lane. In this study not only classifies road type and estimating of K-factor but also economic evaluation tries for feasibility verification. Road type analysis results, time of day traffic volume variation, weekend-factor and vacation-factor are large in recreation roads. Weekday traffic volume and weekend traffic volume are similar patterns in provincial roads. AADT is high and time of day traffic volume variation is small in urban roads. In this study compares with economic analysis that designing of number of lane between KHCM's K-factor and this study K-factor. Economic analysis results, designed roads by this study's K-factor reduce cost about 4,708 hundred million won. So this study's K-factor is economical on provincial 4 lane roads.

To detect individual vehicular speed, double loop detection technique has been widely used. This paper investigates four methodologies to measure individual speed using only a single loop sensor in a traveling lane. Two methods developed earlier include estimating the speed by means of (Case 1) the slop of inductance wave form generated by the sensor and (Case 2) the average vehicle lengths. Two other methods are newly developed through this study, which are estimations by measuring (Case 3) the mean of wheelbases using the sensor installed traversal to the traveling lane and (Case 4) the mean of wheel tracks by the sensor installed diagonally to the traveling lane. These four methodologies were field-tested and their accuracy of speed output was compared statistically. This study used Equality Coefficient and Mean Absolute Percentage Error for the assessment. It was found that the method (Case 1) was best accurate, followed by method (Case 4), (Case 2), and (Case 3).
The purpose of this thesis is to construct a model to estimate the delay that vehicles arriving randomly will be experienced at an isolated singalized intersection. To do this the following objectives are set in this study: (i) An what distance a random arrival pattern occurs after a platoon of vehicles are dis-charged from the stop line; (ii) A model which estimates the average delay per through-vehicle with respect to the de-gree of saturation; and (iii) The relation between the stepped delay and average approach delay per vehicle. The following are the findings of this study: (i) A random arrival pattern on the first second and third lanes occur 300,400 and 300m downstream from stop line rdspectively. A random arrival pattern on lane group occurs 500m downstream from the stop line ; (ii) A model for the estimation of approach delay has been developed in such a way that up to x=0.7 the delay increases linearly and beyond 0.7 the delay increases rapidly in a form of second order polynomial due to high degree of saturation : and (iii) Approach delay equals approximately 1.21 times of stopped delay.

This paper presents a robust method for ground plane detection in vision-based applications based on a monocular sequence of images with a non-stationary camera. The proposed method, which is based on the reliable estimation of the homography between two frames taken from the sequence, aims at designing a practical system to detect road surface from traffic scenes. The homography is computed using a feature matching approach, which often gives rise to inaccurate matches or undesirable matches from out of the ground plane. Hence, the proposed homography estimation minimizes the effects from erroneous feature matching by the evaluation of the difference between the predicted and the observed matrices. The method is successfully demonstrated for the detection of road surface performed on experiments to fill an information void area taken place from geometric transformation applied to captured images by an in-vehicle camera system.

Now days, it is based on GIS and GPS, it can search for the shortest path and estimation of arrival time by using the internet and cell phone to driver. But, even though good car navigation system does not create which is the shortest path when there average vehicle speed is 10 -20 Km. Therefore In order to reduce vehicle waiting time and average vehicle speed, we suggest optimal green time algorithm using fuzzy adaptive control , where there are different traffic intersection length and lane. In this paper, it will be able to forecast the optimal traffic Information, estimation of destination arrival time, under construction road, and dangerous road using internet.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm for initializing a target vehicle detection, tracking the vehicle and estimating the distance from it on the stereo images acquired from a forward-looking stereo camera mounted on a road driving vehicle. The process of vehicle detection extracts road region using lane recognition and searches vehicle feature from road region. The distance of tracking vehicle is estimated by TSS correlogram matching from stereo Images. Through the simulation, this paper shows that the proposed method segments, matches and tracks vehicles robustly from image sequences obtained by moving stereo camera.

Structures of Civil Engineering have been designed with a safety as their main purpose. However recently, the greenness side of the technology of civil engineering regarded as most Important and also utility values and stability of the structures. Also developments in the technology make materials to be higher strength and they shortened scales and stiffness of the structural members. This means that it brings an immoderate deflection and vibration of bridge structures simultaneously. Accordingly, this study ai ed to find and estimate the most idealized structure models on the effects of the deflection and vibration of bridges from the traffic lane load and human vibration - the main pass of bridge structures.

In this paper a platoon merging control system is considered as a remotely located system with state represented by a stochastic process. in the system it is common to encounter situations where a single decision maker controls a large number of subsystems and observation and control signals are sent over a communication channel with finite capacity and significant transmission delays. Unlike a classical estimation problem where the observation is a continuous process corrupted by additive noise there is a constraint that the observation must be coded and transmitted over a digital communication channel with fintie capacity. A recursive coder-estimator sequence is a state estimation scheme based on observations transmitted with finite communication capacity constraint. in this paper we introduce a stochastic model for the lead vehicle in a platoon of vehicles in a lane considering the angle between the road surface and a horizontal plane as a stochastic process. In order to merge two platoons the lead vehicle of the following platoon is controlled by a remote control station. Using the observation transmitted over communication channel the remote control station designs the feedback controller. The simulation results show that the intervehicle spacings and the deviations from the desired intervehicle spacing are well regulated.
PURPOSES : The purpose of the study is to a) explore the operating speed of trucks on rural highways affected by road geometry, and thereby b) develop a predictive model for the operating speed of trucks on rural highways. METHODS : Considering that most of the existing studies have focused on cars, the current study aimed to predict the operating speed of trucks by conducting linear regression analysis on the speed data of trucks operating on the linear-curved-linear portions of the road as a single set. RESULTS : The operating speed in the plane curve portion increased with the length of the curve, and decreased with a lower vertical grade and a smaller curve radius. In the straight plane portion, the operating speed increased with a larger curve radius(upstream), and decreased with an increase in the change of the vertical grade, depending on the length of the vertical curve. CONCLUSIONS : This study developed estimation models of truck for operational speed and evaluated the degree of safety for horizontal and vertical alignments simultaneous. In order to represent whole area of the rural highway, the models should be ew-analyzed with vast data related with road alignment factor in the near future.

In the case of highway, there may be a large number of travel time groups when there are a bus exclusive lane, a rest area, a sleeping shelter, etc. in the corresponding section. In most of the conventional travel time estimation studies, one representative travel time (assuming normal distribution) group is assumed in the low sample collection state, and if it is out of the specified range, it is determined as outliers and then the travel time is estimated. However, if there is a bus exclusive lane, a rest area, or a sleeping shelter in the relevant section, such as the highway, the distribution of travel time will be in the form of a bi-modal or a multi-modal, rather than a regular distribution. Therefore, applying the existing estimation methodology may result in distorted results. To solve this problem, first, it should be reliable even in the case of insufficient number of samples. Second, we propose a methodology to select the representative time group among a number of time groups and to estimate the representative time using individual time data of the selected time group.
