현장실무에 부응하는 조경계획.설계 교과개발에 관한 연구 - 건축학 교육인증기준의 지표분석을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development of Landscape Planning and Design Curriculum for Practical Practice - Using Performance Criteria of Architectural Education Accreditation -)

  • It is widely accepted that one of the purposes of education in landscape architecture is to train students as experts for professional practice. But graduates rarely get positive evaluation from the professional practice in landscape architecture regarding their capability in real environments. Recently the international accreditation system for architectural education is introduced, and it requires a considerably high degree of education enhancing practical capability of students as practitioner. In this context, this study aims to seek an effective educational method for enhancing practical practice capability of students in landscape architectural design education by using the analysis method employed architectural educations in Korea in measuring student performance criteria. The results of the study suggest international education standard of environmental design course emphasizes the ingenuity of individuals. And integrating the knowledges of diverse fields into education system is necessity. Nowadays, handing over the hard skills emphasized in the past is changing toward fostering soft skills. As a conclusion, educational contents which satisfy the established objects are mostly composed of soft skills such as communication techniques, collectional capability of informations, personal relationships and vocational ethics etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to discuss issues on how locality can be revealed through landscape planning and design especially in the local environment. Over the past decade, there has been substantial increase in architects and landscape architects working internationally. There are many that believe this may lead to a unifying global brand of design that overlooks the identity and specificity of place. This lead us to think opportunities and challenges for designers working internationally to understand and create a unique sense of place. Relations between contemporary design trend and local identity will be studied through case studies. Design strategies and languages on revealing locality will be also discussed with the Suncheon Education Culture Center project.

  • This Paper examines theoretical terrains and design strategies of landscape urbanism which is an emerging hybrid field at the intersection of architecture, landscape architecture, and urbanism. Landscape urbanism offers alternative approaches for theory, education, and practice in contemporary landscape architecture. It views the emergent urban complex sites-post-industrial sites, landfill, brownfield, urban void, etc., not as a weakness, but as a strength. Landscape urbanism poses an understanding of landscape as an element of urban infrastructure. In this sense, the landscape is seen in the context of contemporary urban development and public works. As a complex amalgam, landscape urbanism is more than a design style it is an ethos, an attitude, a way of thinking and acting. We can chart the main characteristics of landscape urbanism such as horizontality and surface, infrastructure, process, technique, and ecology. Multilayered examples of landscape urbanism can be seen in several experimental practices such as worts of Rem Koolhaas, MVRDV, Adriaan Geuze/West 8, James Comer, etc. It is possible to summarize the productive strategies for landscape urbanism as follows : thickening, folding, new materials, nonprogrammed use, impermanence, and movement.

대학 조경교육에 대한 현장 실무자 인식 조사 (Practitioners' Perception of Landscape Education in Universities)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 조경도입 40년을 즈음하여 빠르게 변화하고 있는 사회의 요구에 조경교육이 적절히 대응할 수 있도록 대학 조경교육에 대한 현장 실무자의 인식을 조사하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 모두 257명의 실무자를 대상으로 조경교육에 대한 전반적인 인식, 교과목 유형별 중요도와 실무활용도, 조경업무 단계별 중요도와 실무활용도 등에 대한 설문조사가 진행되었다. 조사결과, 전반적인 대학 조경교육에 대한 실무자의 인식은 다소 부정적으로 나타났는데, 특히 대학 졸업 직후 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 현장중심의 교육을 보강할 필요가 있는 것으로 판단된다. 대학 교육에 대한 요구로도 현실적인 전문지식, 인접분야에 대한 이해 등의 현장에서 활용 가능한 내용이 주를 이루고 있었으며, 신입사원 교육을 통해서 실무스킬이나 컴퓨터, 법제도 관련 사항을 보완하고 있었다. 대학 교육 개선을 위해서는 전임교수는 물론이고, 학생과 실무자들의 공동의 노력이 중요한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 과목별로는 식재설계, 조경설계, 조경재료, 조경계획, 조경시공 및 관리 등의 과목이 중요한 과목으로 조사되었으나 부분적으로는 분야별 특성이 나타났다. 업무단계별로는 중요도 측면에서는 계획, 설계, 시공관련 과목이 고르게 중요한 단계로 인식되었으나, 실무활용도 측면에서는 계획과 설계과목으로 한정되어 현대학 교육이 계획과 설계 중심으로 진행되고 있는 경향을 보여주었다. 학문연구를 기본으로 하는 대학입장에서 실무자 의견을 그대로 교육과정에 반영할 될 수는 없겠으나, 현실을 반영한 교육에 대한 요구와 계획, 설계 중심의 교육에서 탈피하여 균형감 있는 교육이 될 수 있도록 하는 노력은 필요하리라 생각한다. 본 연구에서는 설문응답자가 수도권에 집중되었으며 실무자 의견 조사에 한정되어, 대학 조경교육에 대한 종합적인 개선방안 제시를 위해서는 교육자나 피교육자의 의견이 포함된 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

초등학교 학교조경의 환경교육적 활용을 위한 기초 연구 -성남시 교사들의 인식을 중심으로- (A Basic Study for the Environmental Educational Use of Elementary School Landscape -The Awareness of Seongnam City Elementary School Teacher-)

  • The purpose of this study that was based on the theory review about the practical use necessity of school landscape was to survey on the awareness of elementary school teachers about the applications of school landscape for environmental education. This study was carried out through the review of literature, the questionnaire to 132 elementary school teachers in Seongnam City. The findings derived from this study were as follows : First, School landscape is an important field as environmental education resource for the improvement of school environmental education. Especially, for the improvement of environmental sensitivity through field-experience learning, the practical applications of elementary school landscape is very important and urgent in aspects of environmental education theory, accessibility, and convenience. Second, Most of responded teachers give an affirmative answer about the field-experience learning for school environmental education and the necessity of practical use of school landscape for field-experience learning. Several the improvement to use elementary school landscape for environmental education being suggested by teachers are the increase of financial support, the magnification of school area, and the school landscape planning and design in consideration of environmental education by landscape architect expert. Third, Above half of teachers don't agree to use the roof garden for environmental education because of the safety of students and the school building construction. Fourth, Teachers are more satisfied with the status of school landscape maintenance than the practical usability of school landscape in aspect of environmental education and the facilities in school landscape. Teachers think that the most important functions and roles of school landscape is psychological factor.

조경설계 스튜디오 교육에 대한 학생들의 인식 (Students’ Perception of Landscape Design Studio Education)

  • 본 연구는 조경설계 수업 전반에 대한 학생들의 인식을 조사하고, 설계수업 개선을 위한 방향을 도출하고자하였다. 본 연구는 점차로 대학교육이 절대적인 지식을 전달하는 실증주의적 배경으로부터 학생들 스스로가 지식을 구축해가는 구성주의적 교육방법으로 진화해야 한다는 가정을 둔다. 학생들이 설계수업을 어떻게 경험하고, 느끼고, 이해하고, 평가하고 있는지를 이해하는 것은 이러한 구성주의 철학과 관점을 바탕으로 설계수업을 개선하기 위한 첫 번째 단계이다. 본 연구에서는 설계 스튜디오 교육에 대한 이론적 연구로 교육철학의 변화, 스튜디오 수업의 기원과 변화, 건축분야의 설계 교육의 변화, 그리고 조경교육에 있어서 설계교육에 대한 논의를 고찰하였다. 이를 바탕으로 네 개 대학의 학부생을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사의 내용을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 설계수업은 학생들이 조경설계가로서의 진로를 결정하는데 긍정적 혹은 부정적 영향을 행사하는 것으로 나타났다. 절반 정도의 학생들은 설계수업에 대해 불만을 표시하였으며, 상당한 심적 부담감을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 설계과정의 초기단계와 개념을 구체화하는 단계에서 가장 많은 스트레스를 받는 것으로 분석되었고, 진로에 대한 유보적인 집단이 설계수업에 대한 심적 부담감이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 학생들은 스스로의 설계능력에 대해 부정적으로 평가하고 있었으며, 성적이 학생들의 설계능력을 잘 반영해준다고 강하게 믿지 않는 것으로 나타나, 보다 투명한 평가체계에 대한 고민이 이어져야함을 시사한다.

대한민국환경조경대전을 통해 본 조경 설계 교육의 쟁점과 시사점 (The Implication and Issues of Landscape Design Education through National Exhibition of Korean Landscape Architecture)

  • 본 연구는 '대한민국환경조경대전'에 나타난 동시대 조경의 쟁점을 통해 설계 교육을 위한 시사점을 발견하고자 하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 2004년부터 2014년까지 '대한민국환경조경대전'의 주제와 수상작들의 대상지와 심사평을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대한민국환경조경대전 주제는 공모 지침일 뿐만 아니라 조경의 새로운 영역이나 역할 모색과 관련되어 있다. 둘째, 가장 많이 다루어진 대상지 유형은 '산업유산과 재생공간', '녹색기반시설'이지만, 최근에는 다양한 유형의 대상지가 다루어지고 있다. 셋째, 대상지는 수도권에 집중되어 있고, 수도권 소재 대학에 비해 비수도권 소재 대학들의 참여와 성과가 매우 저조했다. 넷째, 심사평에 내포된 평가 기준을 븐석하여 '개념(아이디어)의 참신성', '설계과정의 논리성', '대상지의 선정과 분석(해석)의 충실성', '설계매체의 표현과 마스터플랜의 완성도', '주제와의 정합성', '개념(아이디어)과 결과물의 연계성', '실현가능성'이라는 일곱 가지를 평가 기준으로 도출할 수 있었다. 평가 기준은 디자인 언어의 정교함을 높이고 설계 교육 방법 모색에 유용한 시사점을 제공한다. 그 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참신한 아이디어를 도출하는 훈련이 필수적이지만, 개념 편향적 교육은 경계할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 대상지와 관련된 문제를 정의할 수 있는 능력을 배양할 수 있는 훈련이 요구된다. 셋째, 설계 논리를 보다 중시하고, 개념이 결과물로 이어지게 하려는 진정성 있는 노력이 필요하다. 넷째, 설계 내용과 관련성 없는 '현혹적 이미지' 사용은 자제할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 주제를 풀어나가는 과정에 대한 연습이 설계 교육의 주요 과정으로 다루어질 필요가 있다. 여섯째, '실현 가능성'과 '창의적 사고'는 서로에게 도움이 되는 호혜적 관계로 인식할 필요가 있다. 일곱째, 우리의 문제를 스스로 이야기할 수 있는 설계 언어에 대한 고민과 정체성 모색이 필요하다. 본 연구는 대한민국환경조경대전 심사평을 직접 인용하여 연구자의 주관성을 최소화하면서 동시대 조경의 쟁점을 보다 직접적이고 생생하게 추적하고자 하였다. 이는 메타크리티시즘(meta criticism)으로서 또 다른 비평을 기다리는 기록이 된다. 이런 측면에서 본 연구는, 후세의 조경가들이 현재의 조경 이론이나 설계 사고를 고찰할 수 있는 통로이자 사료가 된다는 의미가 있다.

Landscape Management and Educational Programs for Citizens

  • Regional development and community design has become very important these days. Especially in Hyogo Prefecture after the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, voluntary works have become more popular. With citizen participation, environmental circumstances change a lot. It is becoming very difficult for municipal governments alone to achieve every desirable project. NPOs made of professional members in the Hanshin area have conducted notable activities after the earthquake. At the same time it is necessary also to educate citizens for community design with greenery. These people will support their town design along with professionals. Awaji Landscape and Horticulture Planning Academy provides an excellent educational program, an introduction and examination of which should be valuable. The main concept of the education program is to foster the growth of local community design leaders. Students appreciated the programs very much even if initially they expected a more practical program about planting than programs that teach community design. Many people are active in their own towns to create better environments and communities. The network system "Alpha Green-Net" is functional to support graduates of the course. In the future these educational programs for citizens will becomes very important. Other cities are starting to have their own progrms, but they are still very short term. "Alpha Green-Net" is in the process of growing. Many members are very keen to develop their own abilities. In the future these NPOs should become independent. To help these NPOs become independent and active the educational programs should consider and teach about how to do this more in the future.

국가대표 선수 훈련원 마스터플랜 설계경기 조경계획 (Landscape Design for the National Athlete Training Camp)

  • As the national interest in sports has been increased over time, sports facilities and sports complex are considered more than just physical environments for training athletes or watching games. Sports facilities now become symbolic spatial devices to represent the national and cultural pride of any countries. The existing national training camp located in Taenung, Seoul is gotting outdated and degraded. The polluted air in the city risks athletes' health condition. The government planned to construct the second training camp at Jincheon, Chungbuk at the area of $2,171,910m^2$. The Korea Sports Council called for proposals to envision the future training camp, and they held a design competition from August to November, 2005. The first phase was to present the masterplan for the entire site including training buildings, outdoor training facilities, dormitories, a visitor center, a research center, education and administration buildings. Considering the size of the site, the planning process required a strong relationship between landscape and architecture. This study tries to provide general explanations on the winning proposal focused on the landscape-related issues. It also attempts to have reference points for contemporary planning and design issues to situate the project in the stream of continuing design effort to avoid the dichotomy between nature and culture. The landscape proposal for the new national taming camp suggests four main strategies; 1) The camp has two intersecting and interweaving parks which represent the natural and urban order. 2) The entire site is organized and networked by the flow of landscape called landscape ribbon in terms of topography, vegetation, and water flow. 3) The landscape is choreographed through the time and process. 4) The ecological process and the digital contents are juxtaposed in the landscape. This winning proposal is the first step to portray the national vision for the sustainable environment coexisting with sports industry. Landscape in this proposal is an active agent to network various parts of the site which enables landscape to be infrastructure. Landscape design in this proposal should be considered open-ended strategies rather than determined concrete forms and its engaging further development will be tested in following Design-Build phase.

조경분야에서 컴퓨터 이용의 실태분석 (Survey Analysis on the Application of Computer Software in Landscape Architecture)

  • The purpose of this research is to provide for some useful data for computer-related courses of the landscape science, assuming that computers are being and should be used more and more in landscape architecture and therefore, that landscape science students need to respond positively to such a trend. For this purpose, landscape architecture studios and their landscape architects were surveyed for their computer and its program uses as well as their satisfaction with the utility of computer for their landscape works. The results of this research are as follows; 1) 10.7% of the landscape architects surveyed answered that they had learned about their necessary softwares at school, while 61.6% of the studios surveyed were less satisfied with their employees' poor computing ability. Such findings suggest a lack of computer-related courses in landscape science and therefore, that more computer-related courses should be introduced for landscape science students together with the necessary software education. 2) Too few landscape softwares are being used by the landscape architecture studios; such softwares as AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D Max, Excel, PowerPoint and 한글 account for more than 90% of the landscape architecture softwares being used currently. Quite naturally, landscape students need to be trained on these softwares above all. 3) It was found hat he area of work using the computer most was ˝design works˝(84.5%), followed by ˝documentation˝(83.8%), ˝image editing˝(75.1%), ˝cost calculation˝(68.2%), ˝presentation˝(68.1%), ˝analysis˝(37.8%) and ˝rendering˝(35%). It was regretable to discover that such areas requiring more computing work as ˝analysis˝ and ˝rendering˝ were still worked manually. So it sis deemed necessary for landscape science courses to enhance their computer education of such areas first of all.
