The volcanic edifice of Ulleungdo is largely divided into a shield volcano underwater and a tholoide above seawater. The geological features of the volcano above seawater are basically alkali volcanic rocks that are further divided into five geological strata: agglomerates and tuffs trachyte and phonolite trachytic pumice trachyandesite, and sedimentary layer. The topography of Ulleungdo consists of volcanic landform on the whole, and such volcanic landform is weathered and eroded into various weathering landform, stream landform, coastal landform, structural landform, etc. Major volcanic topography includes caldera basin, central cone, and columnar joint, whereas weathering topography features, tafoni, gnamma, tor, weathered cave, talus, etc. In major coastal topography are sea cliff, wave-cut platform, sea stack, sea arch, sea cave, shingle beach, coastal terrace, etc. For stream topography, its development is minimal except for waterfalls.

In this study, it was carried out to characterize the figures of landform of Yong-San, called dragon mountain implied indentity and emblem of local landscape by analyzing palce name extracted from four county in Kyongsang Nam-Do. The figures of landform of Yong-San was characterized and divided into three types, called as Waryong lying dragon), Banryong(dragon lying in a coil), Yongdu(dragon's crown). And the spatial characterstics of three types of landform were analyzed. Furthermore, it was investigated the development of outlines of characteristic landform recognoxed as a Yong-San and figured out the structure of landform which was easily recognized. According to the results, the outlines and the spatial structure of landform recognized as a Yong-San including a symbolic meaning can be used as a standard of judgement if an area should be reserved for the efficient conduct of regional plan.

The purpose of this study is to establish a theory for conservation of named and physiognomically perceived landform. And this study investigated the characteristics of the spatial form and physiognomic perception of MOK(is landform and space like neck) in MOK-MAEUL(settlement name including korean character 'mok') in Kyongsangnamdo. The surveyed sites are 52 MOK-MAEUL. The MOK representing a particular landform is divided into 5 types and the characteristics of landform were analyzed. The residents recognized a MOK as a living form and thought that influenced their wealth and security.
Geologic Structures are reflected on the landform development. So lots of studies are emphasized on the individual processes and mechanism of the relationship between geologic structures and landforms. In this study, many cases are represented, such as : weathering, stream directions and structures expecially joints, gnamas, meander bending etc. New D-D Diagrams and photos are available to explain the relations of two factors. Landform developments are depend on geologic structures.

This study was carried out to suggest plan of earth surface erosion by typifying landforms in Gwangeung Forest. Elements of landform were classifyed as hierachical system by scale. Scale for classification set a decision as four categories. We could classify landforms which level zero is 4 levels of elements, level one is 6, level two is twelve, level three is twenty seven. However, micro landforms of valley bottom which is hard to mapping made a categorization as upper valley, middle valley, artificial channel valley. Plan for soil erosion suggested yarding corridor, landform management for surroundings of slope and bridge using rock and gravel, road construction for forest management stable bedrock rather than soil layer, repose angles and piling up rocks for channel walls, and setting up buffer zone when forest thinning be carried out. The result of this research will be expected to provide information for forest management of mountainous areas by landform types.

This study investigated and analyzed the topographic landscape resources of Mureung Valley in Donghae-si from the viewpoint of geotourism in order to suggest the tourism contents and tour course. A total of 29 topographic landscapes were observed; these are broadly divided into 4 features including weathering landform, mountainous landform, fluvial landform, and structural landform. Major topographies are fluvial landform (13) and weathering landform (12). At least 19 topographies (14 sites, 19 topographic landscapes) are currently used as tourism resources, with 10 topographies having potential to be developed as new tourism resources. The 10 topographic landscapes are as follows: (1) Jamryong Bawi (Hidden Dragon Rock), (2) Janggipan Bawi (Korean Chessboard Rock), (3) Nurungji Bawi (Parched Rice Rock), (4) Damjang Bawi (Fence Rock), (5) Gyedan Bawi (Stairs Rock), (6) Heundeul Bawi (Rocking Rock), (7) Jeopsi Bawi (Dish Rock), (8) Dol Umul (Stone Well), (9) Jogak Bawi (Carved Rock), and (10) Dubu Bawi (Topu Rock). The topographic tour course can be divided into 3 routes considering accessibility and time. Route 1 is a basic one that anyone can easily use; Route 2 and 3 can be used by visitors who have more time to spare or who are more active.

In this study is aerial photos and UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) images were used to analyzed the characteristics of depositional landform changes in the Geum river channels before and after the opening gate of Gongju weir. Based on the depositional landform classification result, the main stream and the bare land occupied most of the area in all periods, and also found that the main stream, mid-channel island, and sand bar occupied a greater degree of area increase or decrease compared to other landforms in the classification items. As a result of analyzing the characteristics of depositional landform changes before and after the opening gate of Gongju weir, it is judged that the depositional landforms have changed due to the decreased water level of the Geum river after the opening of the weir, the summer rainy season and typhoons, river stabilization after the effluence of Daecheong dam, supply and deposition of river sediments and fixation of vegetation. The results derived from this study can be used as basic data for the study of river depositional landforms and the establishment of management and conservation plans for the landforms in river channels.

The method to generate a digital elevation model(DEM) from contour lines causes a problem in which the low relief landform cannot be clearly presented due to the fact that it is significantly influenced by the expression of micro landform elements according to the interval of contours. Thus, this study attempts to develop a landcover burning method that recovers the micro relief landform of the DEM, which applies buffering and map algebra methods by inputting the elevation information to the landcover. In the recovering process of the micro landform, the DEM was recovered using the buffering method and elevation information through the map algebra for the landcover element for the micro landform among the primary DEM generation, making landcover map, and landcover elements. The recovering of the micro landform was applied based on stream landforms. The recovering of landforms using the buffering method was performed for the bar, which is a polygonal element, and wetland according to the properties of concave/convex through generating contours with a uniform interval in which the elevation information applied to the recovered landform. In the case of the linear elements, such as bank, road, waterway, and tributary, the landform can be recovered by using the elevation information through applying a map algebra function. Because the polygonal elements, such as stream channel, river terrace, and artificial objects (farmlands) are determined as a flat property, these are recovered by inputting constant elevation values. The results of this study were compared and analyzed for the degree of landform expression between the original DEM and the recovered DEM. In the results of the analysis, the DEM produced by using the conventional method showed few expressions in micro landform elements. The method developed in this study well described wetland, bar, landform around rivers, farmland, bank, river terrace, and artificial objects. It can be expected that the results of this study contribute to the classification and analysis of micro landforms, plain and the ecology and environment study that requires the recovering of micro landforms around streams and rivers.

This study aims to investigate geomorphological and geological landscapes in the Taeanhaean National Park to ensure they are well-preserved. This study discovered 390 geomorphological and geological landform resources distributed in the coastal zone of Taeanhaean National Park. Representative geomorphological and geological landforms include : sea cliffs, sea caves, wave-cut platforms, sea-stacks, pebble beaches, sand beaches, tidal flats, coastal dunes, coastal dune wetlands and folds (or micro folds) landforms. Deposition landforms are developed more and erosion and weathering landforms are less on the land zone than island zone. These landform resources vary from district to district and can be developed for geo-tourism resources. Combined efforts from the Taeanhaean National Park authorities and residents are essential to manage ecological programs using geomorphological and geological resources.
This study is to suggest landform and environmental problems of border region of N. Korea and China by analyzing results of field work for the Dumangang and the Amnokgang from year 2000 up to year 2016. By the social system in North korea, access of study material is possible with satellite image and published statistical data, but impossible direct data collection. We gathered field work data on landform and environment in border Region of N. Korea and China. Before field survey, we analysed geometrical landform and geology using DEM and digital geology map. We analyzed landform and environmental problems occurring in upper, midstream, and downstream region of the Dumangang and the Amnokgang using field work data. Resultingly, this study will be expected to support as basic data for resonable management on natural resources and empirical research activities on North Korea.
