FODDER PRODUCTION AT SAVAR DAIRY FARM: AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

  • Asia Triple HIn this study an attempt was made to determine the cost of producing fodders at Savar Dairy Farm (SDF). For this purpose, all seasonal fodders, such as Maize, Jowar, Cowpea and Oat and all perennial fodders, such as Para and Napier were studied. The highest acreage of land was allocated to high-land Para (33.8%) and the lowest acreage (2.7%) was devoted to Cowpea. Jowar attained the highest yield (74.2 tons) per hectare and Maize attained the lowest yield (25.8 tons/h). The highest cost per hectare was attributed to Jowar (TK. 20944.18) while the lowest cost was attributed to low-land para (TK. 10349.86). The cost of production of fodder per kilogram was the highest (TK. 0.66) for Maize and the lowest for Oat (TK. 0.24). The cost of production of low-land Para was much lower than that of high land Para. The per kilogram cost of silage production was the highest (TK. 0.71) for Maize and the lowest (TK. 0.31) was for Napier. The gross return analysis further showed that the highest net margin and B:C ratio were observed for Napier followed by Low-land Para, Jowar, Oat, Cowpea, High-land Para and Maize. Therefore, those fodders whose B:C ratios and yield/ha were higher should be allocated more area of land to stimulate increased returns to SDF in the future is suggested.

  • Fish mortality is the most important success factor in aquaculture management. To analyze the effect of mortality considering biological and economic condition is a important problem in land-based aquaculture. This study is aimed to analyze the effect of mortality for duration of cultivation in land-based aquaculture. This study builds the mathematical model that finds the value of decision variable to minimize cost that sums up the water pool usage cost, sorting cost, fingerling cost and feeding cost under critical standing corp constraint. The proposed mathematical model involves many aspects, both biological and economical: (1) number of fingerlings (2) timing and number of batch splitting event, based on (3) fish growth rate, (4) mortality, and (5) several farming expense. Numerical simulation model presented here in. The objective of numerical simulation is to provide for decision makers to analyse and comprehend the proposed model. When extensive biological and cost data become available, the proposed model can be widely applied to yield more accurate results.

  • 최근 지적공부와 실제 토지이용 현황과의 불일치로 토지관리 업무에 많은 민원이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 문제를 개선하기 위해서는 토지관련 정보를 이용하여 토지이동 대상필지를 정확하게 선정하고 시나리오별로 보상비를 평가하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 연속지적도와 실폭도로를 기반으로 GIS 공간중첩을 수행하였으며, 도로편입률에 따른 퍼지함수를 적용하여 지목과 소유구분별 토지이동 필지수와 면적을 분석하였다. 또한 토지이동 대상필지의 개별공시지가 정보를 이용하여 시나리오별 보상비를 계산하였으며, 이를 지목과 소유구분에 따라 읍면별로 정리하였다. 본 연구에서는 읍면별 토지이동 대상필지에 대한 보상비를 시나리오별로 제공함으로서 지자체 재정여건에 부합하는 토지이동 대상필지 업무를 효과적으로 지원할 수 있었다.

Stability of Construction Cost-variability Factor Rankings from Professionals' Perspective: Evidence from Dar es Salaam -Tanzania

  • This study investigates the stability of professionals' cost variability factor-rankings across different levels of cost-variability and response scenarios. Descriptive statistics are used to examine the stability of factor-ranking for 20 cost variability factors and a Multinomial Logistic (MNL) regression model was implemented to examine the stability of cost variability factors across three cost variability levels. The finding on the descriptive statistics indicated that professionals' factors-rankings are stable only for external factors. The MNL regression results on factor-stability suggested that 8 out of the 20 evaluated factors were unstable determinant of lower cost variability levels. These factors are "risk associated with the project", "personal bias and poor professionalism of the estimators", "limited time available to complete the project", "lack of skills and experience by estimator" "geographical location of projects", "incomplete & rush designs for estimate", "unforeseen or unexpected site constraints", "high class bidders for the contractors". Similarly lack of experience and large size projects were observed to be unstable as well. These observations suggest that professionals' view on pre-tender cost variability factor-ranking yields unstable factor rankings hence should not be relied upon as the only mechanisms to mitigate cost related risks in construction projects.

부산항 컨테이너 물류 시스템의 비용분석에 관하여 (On the Cost Analysis of Container Physical Distribution System in Pusan Port)

  • This paper aims to determining the optimal capacity of Pusan port in view point of Container Physical Distribution cost. It has been established a coast model of the container physical distribution system in Pusan port is composed of 4 sub-systems and in-land transport system. Cargo handling system, transfer & storage system and in-land transport system, and analyzed the cost model of the system. From this analysis, we found that the system had 7 routes including in-land transport by rail or road and coastal transport by feeder ship between Pusan port and cargo owner's door. Though railway transport cost was relatively cheap, but, it was limited to choose railway transport routes due to the introducing of transport cargo allocation practice caused by shortage of railway transport capacity. The physical distribution ost for total import & export container through Pusan port was composed of 4.47% in port entring cost, 12.98% in cargo handling cost, 7.44% in transfer & storage cost and 75.11% in in-land transport cost. Investigation in case of BCTOC verified the results as follows. 1) The optimal level of one time cargo handling was verified 236VAN (377TEU) and annual optimal handling capacity was calculated in 516, 840VAN(826, 944TEU) where berth occupancy is $\rho$=0.6 when regardless of port congestion cost, 2) The optimal level of one time cargo handling was verified 252VAN (403TEU) and annual optimal handling capacity was calculated in 502, 110VAN (803, 376TEU) where berth occupancy is $\rho$=0.58 when considering of port congestion cost.

Relationship Between Farm Land Structure and Machine Operation in Korea

  • The shortage of agricultural labour due to industrial growth has greatly induced the mechanization in Korean agriculture. However small and scattered land holdings have been the main constraints in the process of mechanization. This paper describes the interrelationships of farm land structure, machinery selection and machinery operation areas. The sandy silt loam irrigated paddy land having single crop a year was selected as a target areas for this study. Machine operation cost is greatly influenced by operation period, plot geometry and operation area. On the improved geometry plots, optimal machine size increases slowly with increase in operation area. Operable area increases due to increased effective machine capacity on better geometry plot. The difference between the effects of operation period and plot geometry is that in the former case, the cost reduction is caused by delay in increase of machine size, whereas in the latter case timeliness cost is reduced by increase ffective capacity. The effect of farmland consolidation is greater on small plots than that on big plots. Increasing wage rates have induced the adoption of more labor saving machinery. Bigger labor saving machines require enlargement of operation area and larger plots through improvement in farm land structure. Machine cost on poor plot geometry increases more rapidly than that on the good plot geometry and as operation area increases machine cost reduces significantly. It is concluded that the development of agricultural mechanization ion Korea will depend on the improvement in farm land structure and enlargement of operation area.

사업 초기단계에서 공동주택 토목공사비의 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Civil Construction Cost on Apartment Housing Projects at the Early Stage)

  • 건설사업 수행의 초기단계에서 가장 중요한 과제는 적정 예정공사비를 산정하는 일이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공동주택 건설사업 초기단계에서 합리적이고 정확한 토목공사비의 예측을 위하여 170개의 공사비자료를 활용한 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 종속변수인 토목공사비를 지역위치에 따른 전국, 부지조건에 따른 사유지, 조합부지, 공공부지로 구분하여 다양한 분석을 함으로써 예측모델의 이용의 편리성과 정확성을 높였다. 회귀식을 이용한 공동주택 토목공사비의 예측 결과 오차율은 전국 적용 예측모델 15.59%, 사유지 적용 예측모델 17.53%, 조합부지 적용 예측모델 21.86%, 공공부지 적용 예측모델 13.08%로 나타났다.

  • The most limited production resource in Korea is land. During the period from 1995 to 2002, annual farm land area of 17,600ha have been converted to urban and industrial land. The self-sufficiency rate of rice, Korean staple food, is expected to be decreased from 97.5% in 2003 to 60-70% in 2020. Under such conditions, this study is aimed at first identifying multi-functional benefits of the reclamation projects such as agricultural production, industrial water supply, urban land supply, transportation effects, sightseeing effects and environmental values with and without the projects. To carry out the objectives, three existing tideland reclamation projects such as Daeho, Kumgang and Yongsangang irrigation project stage II were evaluated and Saemangeum tideland reclamation project which was jointly revaluated by environmental NGO and Govn't appointed specialists in 2000 was reviewed. According to this study results, tide land reclamation projects were showed financially and economically feasible and environmentally sustainable. The joint cost like estuary dam should be allocated based on the multi-functional benefits of the projects. To allocate the joint cost, legal and institutional improvement should adapt the joint cost allocation method as the specific cost-remaining benefit method. Korea has more than 402,000 ha of tidal flat of which 76,396ha have been reclaimed in 2003. To meet food security and to cope with shortage of land, phil-environmental reclamation projects should be continuously implemented and necessary tidal flats for protecting environmental ecosystem should be remained according to the detail survey results of reclaimable resources.

The Effects of Water-Based Exercise on Physiological Cost Index and Balance in Stroke Patients

  • Purpose: This study attempts to find the effects of water-based exercise performed on stroke patients in their physiological cost index and static and dynamic balance. Methods: The subjects were 30 stroke patients, who were randomly divided a water-based exercise group and a land-based exercise group, each with 15 patients. Both exercises ware performed 3 day per week, for 40 minutes a day, for a period of eight weeks. Results: The Water-based exercise group showed a decreased physiological cost index compared to the land-based exercise group, with the physiological cost index of the water-based exercise group decreasing, while the land-based exercise group, showing a significant decrease. Water-based exercise increased static and dynamic balance capacity better than land-based group, showing a significant difference and better efficiency of water-based exercise when compared to land-based exercise. Conclusion: From the result of the study, we found that water-based exercise is more effective in improving PCI and static and dynamic balance capacity. Through this study, training in water-based stroke patients could use cardiovascular endurance and buoyancy and the vortex, as an effective treatment that can enhance the growth and voluntary participation in the range of the patient's own movement the thought is, in consideration of the changes in the physiological cost index due to the difference in the ground and water, and should establish a training program that matches the purpose.

택지조성원가와 발생원가의 오차에 관한 실증연구 : 택지개발사업지구를 중심으로 (An Empirical Study on the Differential Ratio between Construction Cost for Land Development and Incurred Cost: Case of Housing Business District for Land Development in LH)

  • 현행 우리나라 택지조성원가 산정체계는 택지조성과정에서 준공이전에 추정한 조성원가와 조성과정에서 돌발적으로 발생하는 변동요인이 고려된 준공시의 발생원가로 구분된다. 따라서 두 원가사이에 발생되는 격차로 인해 분양가격에 영향을 미치는 발생원가는 산정체계에 대한 문제점을 지적 받아오고 있으므로 발생원가의 객관성을 높이기 위해서는 예측가능한 돌발상황에 대해 조성원가 산정시 반영되는 방안이 모색되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 조성원가와 발생원가 사이에 발생되는 격차율 가운데 예측이 가능한 규모를 유효격차율로 정의하고 각 사업지구의 다양한 특성을 고려한 유효격차율을 추정하고자하였다. 따라서 각 사업지구의 다양한 특성을 유형으로 분류하기 위해 5개의 주제별 카테고리를 설정하고, 카테고리들을 복합화한 복합카테고리를 이용하여 유효격차율을 추정하고자 하였으며 추정모형 검정결과 신뢰성이 매우 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 향후 지속적인 자료축척으로 안정화된 추정모형의 유효격차율이 조성원가에 반영되었을 경우 발생원가와의 격차해소에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
