FODDER PRODUCTION AT SAVAR DAIRY FARM: AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

  • Asia Triple HIn this study an attempt was made to determine the cost of producing fodders at Savar Dairy Farm (SDF). For this purpose, all seasonal fodders, such as Maize, Jowar, Cowpea and Oat and all perennial fodders, such as Para and Napier were studied. The highest acreage of land was allocated to high-land Para (33.8%) and the lowest acreage (2.7%) was devoted to Cowpea. Jowar attained the highest yield (74.2 tons) per hectare and Maize attained the lowest yield (25.8 tons/h). The highest cost per hectare was attributed to Jowar (TK. 20944.18) while the lowest cost was attributed to low-land para (TK. 10349.86). The cost of production of fodder per kilogram was the highest (TK. 0.66) for Maize and the lowest for Oat (TK. 0.24). The cost of production of low-land Para was much lower than that of high land Para. The per kilogram cost of silage production was the highest (TK. 0.71) for Maize and the lowest (TK. 0.31) was for Napier. The gross return analysis further showed that the highest net margin and B:C ratio were observed for Napier followed by Low-land Para, Jowar, Oat, Cowpea, High-land Para and Maize. Therefore, those fodders whose B:C ratios and yield/ha were higher should be allocated more area of land to stimulate increased returns to SDF in the future is suggested.

Cost Analysis Model according to Mortality in Land-based Aquaculture (육상수조 어류양식 생존율에 따른 비용분석모형)

  • Fish mortality is the most important success factor in aquaculture management. To analyze the effect of mortality considering biological and economic condition is a important problem in land-based aquaculture. This study is aimed to analyze the effect of mortality for duration of cultivation in land-based aquaculture. This study builds the mathematical model that finds the value of decision variable to minimize cost that sums up the water pool usage cost, sorting cost, fingerling cost and feeding cost under critical standing corp constraint. The proposed mathematical model involves many aspects, both biological and economical: (1) number of fingerlings (2) timing and number of batch splitting event, based on (3) fish growth rate, (4) mortality, and (5) several farming expense. Numerical simulation model presented here in. The objective of numerical simulation is to provide for decision makers to analyse and comprehend the proposed model. When extensive biological and cost data become available, the proposed model can be widely applied to yield more accurate results.

The Compensation Cost Analysis of Parcels for Land Alternation according to Occupation Ratio to Road (도로 편입률에 따른 토지이동 대상필지 보상비 분석)

  • Recently, many civil appeals have been occurred in land management work because of discord between cadastral records and actual land use pattern. it is important to select parcels for land alternation exactly using land information and to evaluate compensation cost according to scenarios for advancing this problem. This study operated GIS spatial overlay based on serial cadastral maps and actual-width of the road and analyzed the number and area of the parcels for land alternation by the land classification and ownership applying fuzzy membership function according to occupation ratio to road. Also compensation cost was calculated according to scenarios using individual public land price information of the parcels for land alternation and was arranged by district as Eup and Myeon according to land classification and ownership. This study can efficiently support the work of the parcels for land alternation complying with the financial condition of local government, by supplying compensation cost according to scenarios to the parcels of land alternation by district as Eup and Myeon.

Stability of Construction Cost-variability Factor Rankings from Professionals' Perspective: Evidence from Dar es Salaam -Tanzania

  • This study investigates the stability of professionals' cost variability factor-rankings across different levels of cost-variability and response scenarios. Descriptive statistics are used to examine the stability of factor-ranking for 20 cost variability factors and a Multinomial Logistic (MNL) regression model was implemented to examine the stability of cost variability factors across three cost variability levels. The finding on the descriptive statistics indicated that professionals' factors-rankings are stable only for external factors. The MNL regression results on factor-stability suggested that 8 out of the 20 evaluated factors were unstable determinant of lower cost variability levels. These factors are "risk associated with the project", "personal bias and poor professionalism of the estimators", "limited time available to complete the project", "lack of skills and experience by estimator" "geographical location of projects", "incomplete & rush designs for estimate", "unforeseen or unexpected site constraints", "high class bidders for the contractors". Similarly lack of experience and large size projects were observed to be unstable as well. These observations suggest that professionals' view on pre-tender cost variability factor-ranking yields unstable factor rankings hence should not be relied upon as the only mechanisms to mitigate cost related risks in construction projects.

On the Cost Analysis of Container Physical Distribution System in Pusan Port (부산항 컨테이너 물류 시스템의 비용분석에 관하여)

  • This paper aims to determining the optimal capacity of Pusan port in view point of Container Physical Distribution cost. It has been established a coast model of the container physical distribution system in Pusan port is composed of 4 sub-systems and in-land transport system. Cargo handling system, transfer & storage system and in-land transport system, and analyzed the cost model of the system. From this analysis, we found that the system had 7 routes including in-land transport by rail or road and coastal transport by feeder ship between Pusan port and cargo owner's door. Though railway transport cost was relatively cheap, but, it was limited to choose railway transport routes due to the introducing of transport cargo allocation practice caused by shortage of railway transport capacity. The physical distribution ost for total import & export container through Pusan port was composed of 4.47% in port entring cost, 12.98% in cargo handling cost, 7.44% in transfer & storage cost and 75.11% in in-land transport cost. Investigation in case of BCTOC verified the results as follows. 1) The optimal level of one time cargo handling was verified 236VAN (377TEU) and annual optimal handling capacity was calculated in 516, 840VAN(826, 944TEU) where berth occupancy is $\rho$=0.6 when regardless of port congestion cost, 2) The optimal level of one time cargo handling was verified 252VAN (403TEU) and annual optimal handling capacity was calculated in 502, 110VAN (803, 376TEU) where berth occupancy is $\rho$=0.58 when considering of port congestion cost.

Relationship Between Farm Land Structure and Machine Operation in Korea

  • The shortage of agricultural labour due to industrial growth has greatly induced the mechanization in Korean agriculture. However small and scattered land holdings have been the main constraints in the process of mechanization. This paper describes the interrelationships of farm land structure, machinery selection and machinery operation areas. The sandy silt loam irrigated paddy land having single crop a year was selected as a target areas for this study. Machine operation cost is greatly influenced by operation period, plot geometry and operation area. On the improved geometry plots, optimal machine size increases slowly with increase in operation area. Operable area increases due to increased effective machine capacity on better geometry plot. The difference between the effects of operation period and plot geometry is that in the former case, the cost reduction is caused by delay in increase of machine size, whereas in the latter case timeliness cost is reduced by increase ffective capacity. The effect of farmland consolidation is greater on small plots than that on big plots. Increasing wage rates have induced the adoption of more labor saving machinery. Bigger labor saving machines require enlargement of operation area and larger plots through improvement in farm land structure. Machine cost on poor plot geometry increases more rapidly than that on the good plot geometry and as operation area increases machine cost reduces significantly. It is concluded that the development of agricultural mechanization ion Korea will depend on the improvement in farm land structure and enlargement of operation area.

A Study on the Prediction of Civil Construction Cost on Apartment Housing Projects at the Early Stage (사업 초기단계에서 공동주택 토목공사비의 예측에 관한 연구)

  • At the early construction project stage, the most important task is to estimate planned construction costs analyzed with detailed information. Therefore, in this study, Apartment Housing Projects at the Early Stage of Civil Construction Cost of the reasonable and accurate predictions of the Regression analysis to 170 of actual Construction Cost, and dependent variable regression to Civil Construction Cost, location based national land area based on a combination of private land, union land, public land to the use of predictive models by various analyses of the ease and accuracy. As a result, Civil Construction Cost of Apartment Housing Projects by the regression formula for the error rate estimates in national land predictive model 15.59%, private land predictive model 17.53%, union land predictive model 21.86%, public land predictive model 13.08%.

Multi-functional Benefits & Costs Analysis of Tide Land Reclamation Project and Development Guidelines in the Future (간척사업(干拓事業)의 다기능적(多機能的) 편익(便益)-비용분석(費用分析)과 발전방향(發展方向))

  • The most limited production resource in Korea is land. During the period from 1995 to 2002, annual farm land area of 17,600ha have been converted to urban and industrial land. The self-sufficiency rate of rice, Korean staple food, is expected to be decreased from 97.5% in 2003 to 60-70% in 2020. Under such conditions, this study is aimed at first identifying multi-functional benefits of the reclamation projects such as agricultural production, industrial water supply, urban land supply, transportation effects, sightseeing effects and environmental values with and without the projects. To carry out the objectives, three existing tideland reclamation projects such as Daeho, Kumgang and Yongsangang irrigation project stage II were evaluated and Saemangeum tideland reclamation project which was jointly revaluated by environmental NGO and Govn't appointed specialists in 2000 was reviewed. According to this study results, tide land reclamation projects were showed financially and economically feasible and environmentally sustainable. The joint cost like estuary dam should be allocated based on the multi-functional benefits of the projects. To allocate the joint cost, legal and institutional improvement should adapt the joint cost allocation method as the specific cost-remaining benefit method. Korea has more than 402,000 ha of tidal flat of which 76,396ha have been reclaimed in 2003. To meet food security and to cope with shortage of land, phil-environmental reclamation projects should be continuously implemented and necessary tidal flats for protecting environmental ecosystem should be remained according to the detail survey results of reclaimable resources.

The Effects of Water-Based Exercise on Physiological Cost Index and Balance in Stroke Patients

  • Purpose: This study attempts to find the effects of water-based exercise performed on stroke patients in their physiological cost index and static and dynamic balance. Methods: The subjects were 30 stroke patients, who were randomly divided a water-based exercise group and a land-based exercise group, each with 15 patients. Both exercises ware performed 3 day per week, for 40 minutes a day, for a period of eight weeks. Results: The Water-based exercise group showed a decreased physiological cost index compared to the land-based exercise group, with the physiological cost index of the water-based exercise group decreasing, while the land-based exercise group, showing a significant decrease. Water-based exercise increased static and dynamic balance capacity better than land-based group, showing a significant difference and better efficiency of water-based exercise when compared to land-based exercise. Conclusion: From the result of the study, we found that water-based exercise is more effective in improving PCI and static and dynamic balance capacity. Through this study, training in water-based stroke patients could use cardiovascular endurance and buoyancy and the vortex, as an effective treatment that can enhance the growth and voluntary participation in the range of the patient's own movement the thought is, in consideration of the changes in the physiological cost index due to the difference in the ground and water, and should establish a training program that matches the purpose.

An Empirical Study on the Differential Ratio between Construction Cost for Land Development and Incurred Cost: Case of Housing Business District for Land Development in LH (택지조성원가와 발생원가의 오차에 관한 실증연구 : 택지개발사업지구를 중심으로)

  • The current land development cost price system is classified as the creating land by construction price and composition changes that occur sporadically in the process of completion at the source of the factors by incurred cost price. Housing for land cost price system is a lack of objectivity which scheme of the such a gap due to the land in accordance construction and incurred cost price system so far. Therefore, in order to increase the objectivity of costing the costing of predictable surprises should be reflected in the process. Under such a background, this study defined the effective differential ratio as the predictable, estimated them for various characteristics of each business district to reflect. For this, set the properties category of five types to attributes and making the complex category and Look-up table. Which result of model validation is showed a high reliability. Therefore, Continuous accumulation of material in the future, when them to reflect the construction cost, will contribute to the bridge the gap the construction cost between incurred them.
