Ozone is an important atmospheric pollutant that is occurred in tropospheric chemical process and it also affects the human health and plants. For a correct application of abatement strategies for ozone, it is necessary to understand the factors that control atmospheric ozone removal by dry deposition processes. The present study investigates the numerical simulation of the dry deposition velocity (V$^{d}$ ) obtained from PNU/DEM (Pusan National University Deposition Model). PNU/DEM includes seasonal categories, meteorological factors, surface properties and land-use types and proposes for an accurate numerical computation. And, this study examines the ability of the PNU/DEM to compute V$_{d}$ of ozone over water surfaces and evaluates PNU/DEM by comparing its estimated V$_{d}$ to past observed V$_{d}$ over water. The parametrization was found to yield V$_{d}$ values generally in good agreement with the observations for the deciduous forest and the coniferous forest. Ozone is removed slowly at wet surface or water due to its low water solubility. Therefore V$_{d}$ values over water were lower than Vd values over the other surfaces. Comparison of PNU/DEM simulated V d values to observations of ozone V$_{d}$ that have been reported in the literature implies that PNU/DEM produces realistic results.

In this study, a tentative decision-making matrix for village planning in reclaimed land was proposed. The evaluating conditions in the matrix are reclaimed farming acreage and distance. And the indexes for evaluation works are farming acreage required for increasing present farm size to target size in the base of, allowable commuting distance for farming from and effective controlling distance of each village. The village planning strategies are considered into four categories ; upkeep of present village scale, transfer of its superfluous farming acreage to a neighbouring village, enlargement of present village scale and new village construction in reclaimed land. As a case study, the proposed decision-making matrix was applied to 69 villages, which are contiguous to the potential farming area from reclamation works of Yongsan River Basin Comprehensive Development Project Phase Ill and so considered in this study as future farming villages there. From the application results, the following tactics for village planning may be proposed ; principally, upkeep or enlargement of present village scale, but, in an exceptional few cases of standard farming size being 3~5ha, new village construction of normal or satellite scale.
The design principles of new urbanism (NU) have been adopted for new towns-in town projects for inner city neighborhoods in Seoul, Korea Since 2000. Here, ten NU principles were matched to four urban design categories: streets, land use, housing and buildings, and public open spaces. These elements were analyzed for Eunpyung New Town project. Through the case, the applications and implications NU principles are explored. The principles of connectivity, quality architecture and urban design, increased density, green transportation, sustainability, and quality of life were positively and successively adopted for streets, land use, housing and buildings, and public open spaces. The principles of mixed-use and diversity and traditional neighborhood structure were only partially applied in land use, housing and buildings, and public open spaces. It should be note that the walkability principle is intended not for job-housing proximity, but for pedestrian-friendly street design.

Local governments play a critical role in achieving carbon neutrality and reducing national carbon emissions. To manage carbon emissions effectively, it is essential for local governments to analyze regional carbon emissions. In this study, we developed a model for estimating carbon emissions based on land use and analyzed regional characteristics of carbon emissions to suggest policies for achieving carbon neutrality at the regional level. Our model for calculating carbon emissions is based on an analysis of the activities that contribute to carbon emissions for each land use, and we established the spatial scope of carbon emission calculation. We applied this model to the cities and counties in Gyeongsangnam province, calculating carbon emissions from settlement and agricultural production activities and comparing regional characteristics of carbon emissions. Our analysis showed that areas with larger populations generally produced higher emissions in all categories, but we observed different results in terms of unit emissions, emissions divided by area, population, and household. Based on these findings, we propose policies such as increasing the generation of new and renewable energy using public institutions, promoting the conversion to cleaner cooking and heating energy sources, and encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly automobiles on roads. We believe that our analysis of the spatial and regional characteristics of carbon emissions can help local governments establish effective policies for reducing carbon emissions in their regions.
The purpose of this study was to determine ways to increase efficiency in constructing and verifying artificial intelligence learning data on land cover using aerial and satellite images, and in applying the data to AI learning algorithms. To this end, multi-resolution datasets of 0.51 m and 10 m each for 8 categories of land cover were constructed using high-resolution aerial images and satellite images obtained from Sentinel-2 satellites. Furthermore, fine data (a total of 17,000 pieces) and coarse data (a total of 33,000 pieces) were simultaneously constructed to achieve the following two goals: precise detection of land cover changes and the establishment of large-scale learning datasets. To secure the accuracy of the learning data, the verification was performed in three steps, which included data refining, annotation, and sampling. The learning data that wasfinally verified was applied to the semantic segmentation algorithms U-Net and DeeplabV3+, and the results were analyzed. Based on the analysis, the average accuracy for land cover based on aerial imagery was 77.8% for U-Net and 76.3% for Deeplab V3+, while for land cover based on satellite imagery it was 91.4% for U-Net and 85.8% for Deeplab V3+. The artificial intelligence learning datasets on land cover constructed using high-resolution aerial and satellite images in this study can be used as reference data to help classify land cover and identify relevant changes. Therefore, it is expected that this study's findings can be used in the future in various fields of artificial intelligence studying land cover in constructing an artificial intelligence learning dataset on land cover of the whole of Korea.
This paper presents a preliminary analysis result on SAR-related journal papers published since 1960s. Abstracts of more than 2700 peer-reviewed English journal papers were collected and classified into various categories according to their systems, techniques, and application fields. Statistics on each category were provided so that one can understand historical and on-going development in SAR systems, techniques, and a variety of application fields such as land, ocean, cryosphere and atmosphere. This statistical data would be an essential guideline to establish a future SAR system application and satellite manoeuvring policy.
This study investigates the impacts of land cover change due to urbanization on the Urban Heat Island Intensity (UHII) and the Heat Index (HI) over the Seoul metropolitan area using the Unified Model (UM) with the Met Office Reading Urban Surface Exchange Scheme (MORUSES) during the heat wave from 16, July to 5, August 2018. Two simulations are performed with the late 1980s land-use (EXP1980) and the late 2000s land-use (EXP2000). EXP2000 is verified using Automatic Weather Station (AWS) data from 85 points in the study area, and observation sites are classified into two categories according to the urban fraction change over 20 years; Category A is 0.2 or less increase, and Category B is 0.2 or more increase. The 1.5-m temperature and relative humidity in Category B increase by up to 1.1℃ and decreased by 7% at 1900 LST and 2000 LST, respectively. This means that the effect of the urban fraction changes is higher at night. UHII increases by up to 0.3℃ in Category A and 1.3℃ in Category B at 1900 LST. Analysis of the surface energy balance shows that the heat store for a short time during the daytime and release at nighttime with upward sensible heat flux. As a result of the HI, there is no significant difference between the two experiments during the daytime, but it increases 1.6℃ in category B during the nighttime (2200 LST). The results indicate that the urbanization increase both UHII, and HI, but the times of maximum difference between EXP1980 and EXP2000 are different.
Land suitability assessment(LSA) is a useful method to assess land characteristics according to its physical, locational, and environmental characteristics, and then to classify it into several categories based on its usability and the necessity for conservation. Therefore, the credibility of this assessment result depends on the rationality of assessment method such as computation of suitability values and the criteria of ranking the land grade. This study focused on identifying problems in current LSA method by critically reviewing it, and aimed to suggest a suitable method for the assessment of land suitability. As a alternative method in this study, linear transformation method was used for scoring factors instead of critical values and the weight for each assessment factor. and all values of those factors were added to produce comprehensive suitability values. Those values were ordered and categorizied with suitability level based on the ratio of square measure. After comparing existing LSA method to the suggested alternative method, it is concluded that the alternative method was more suitable to assess the characteristics of lands than existing LSA method. This method was also suitable to represent the characteristics of various assessment factors. Field survey using satellite image clearly revealed the suitability of the alternative method compared to an existing method of land assessment. Furthermore, the alternative method of grading the land suitability improves the problem of using standardiZiation method and gives more flexibility, which makes this method very rational.

This paper describes SON(: Self Organization Network) technology in LTE networks. The SON is a unique feature of LTE compared to previous cellular systems such as UMTS and GSM, and it is a tool that effectively derives the best performance in the time-varying wireless radio environment. Also, the SON has the ability for the operator to automate the setting of the network, allowing for centralized planning and reducing the need for manual work. The SON is largely divided into three categories: Self-Configuration, Self-Optimization, and Self-Healing. Each large categories has a detailed description of technology, and the technologies in each categories are gathered to complete the technology called the SON. In this paper, we focus on MRO which is one of the Self-Optimization technique in each of the three categories.
This study was conducted to find out characterization of spatial distribution of birds observed in river areas. Our bird survey was carried out 4 times at 31 sites from January to September in 2011. A total of 1,609 accumulated individuals belonging to 59 species, 28 families and 11 orders were observed. In the result of spatial autocorrelation analysis using the richness index of the maximum counts of each sites, we confirmed that the distribution of birds in Namdaecheon river was clustered and the tendency of spatial autocorrelation was apparent. The area of each sites within a 200m radius was classified in four biotope categories such as agricultural land, forest, residential area and water area, and the spatial autocorrelation was analysed about four types. In the result of spatial autocorrelation analysis for four biotope categories, all types were showed the positive spatial autocorrelation, but the type of water area was higher than other types. The positive correlation was found between the water area and water birds in statistical significance. However, the forest birds had non-significance values. Therefore, it is appropriate to focus on water birds except for forest birds, when researches of bird distribution in river ecosystem is conducted. The number of bird species and individuals increased as the riverside of water area was to widen. Thus, if the areas of riverside offering the feeding and roosting area increase, it will be accommodated many birds. Also, the areas of riverside should be maintained naturally because it is an important habitats of birds. Our study area is on the outskirts the city of higher rates of forest and agricultural land, it may be unreasonable to apply our results to the whole rivers. If the research about the river flowing around the city will be conducted, it is expected to be useful to the relation study area such as ecological river's restoration.
