This paper deals with the buckling load of antisymmetric angle-ply and cross-ply laminated rectangular plates. Buckling analysis is preformed for a simply supported, shear deformable laminated plate subjected to uniaxial compression and biaxial compression combined with uniform lateral pression. The shear deformation theory is considered to figure out a more exact behavior of laminated plates exactly. The purposes of this study are to formulate anisotropic laminated plates with shear deformation and to investigate the buckling load according to the various variables of laminated plates by using the exact solutions for anisotropic laminated plates having simply supported boundary.
This paper reports the result of an investigation into wave propagation in orthotropic laminated piezoelectric cylindrical shells in hydrothermal environment. A dynamic model of laminated piezoelectric cylindrical shell is derived based on Cooper-Naghdi shell theory considering the effects of transverse shear and rotary inertia. The wave characteristics curves are obtained by solving an eigenvalue problem. The effects of layer numbers, thickness of piezoelectric layers, thermal loads and humid loads on the wave characteristics curves are discussed through numerical results. The solving method presented in the paper is validated by the solution of a classical elastic shell non-containing the effects of transverse shear and rotary inertia. The new features of the wave propagation in laminated piezoelectric cylindrical shells with various laminated material, layer numbers and thickness in hydrothermal environment and some meaningful and interesting results in this paper are helpful for the application and the design of the ultrasonic inspection techniques and structural health monitoring.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the appearance and surface gluing characteristics of laminated boards overlaied with teak sliced veneer, printing paper, wall paper, cotton cloth, and wool cloth, The overlaying sheets were glued on the laminated boards with polyvinyl acetate emulsion adhesives and the species for laminated boards was red pine. The obtained results are summarized as follows; in case of the teak sliced veneer overlaied boards, the appearance quality was very good and showed the first grade of KS standard. but the delamination rate was 44.0% and 895% for cold water or warm water dipping treatments, respectively, so the wet gluing properties were very bed. In the case of the paper or cloth overlaied boards, the appearance quality was same good and showed the first grade of KS standard, but their delamination rate was 10~20% and 39.3~49.0 for cold water or warm water dipping treatments, respectively, so the wet gluing properties were bed, relatively better than sliced veneer overlaied boards. The present work showed that appearance of laminated boards overlaid with several sheets appeared quite positive in terms of secondary gluing qualities of laminated boards, suggesting that sliced veneer, paper, and cloth would be appropriate for the overlaying materials of laminated boards.
The main aim of this paper is enhancing design of traditional laminated composite plates subjected to static loads. In this regard, this paper suggests embedding a lightweight porous layer in the middle of laminated composite as the core layer of the resulted sandwich plate. The static responses of the suggested structures with uniform, symmetric and non-symmetric porosity distributions are compared to optimize their design. Using the first order shear deformation theories, the static governing equations of the suggested laminated composite plates with a porous layer (LCPPL) rested on two-parameter foundation are obtained. A finite element method is also utilized to solve the governing equations of LCPPLs. Effects of laminated composite and porosity characteristics as well as geometry dimension, edges' boundary conditions and foundation coefficients on the static deflection and stress distribution of the suggested composite plates have been investigated. The results reveal that the use of core between the layers of laminated composites leads to a sharp reduction in the static deflections of LCPPLs. Furthermore, in compare with perfect cores, the use of porous core between the layers of laminated composite plates can offer a considerable reduction in structural weight without a significant difference in their static responses.
This paper deals with the applicability of extended layerwise optimization method (ELOM) for frequency optimization of laminated composite plates. The design objective is the maximization of the fundamental frequency of the laminated plates. The fibre orientations in the layers are considered as design variables. The first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used for the finite element solution of the laminates. Finally, the numerical analysis is carried out to show the applicability of extended layerwise optimization algorithm of laminated plates for different parameters such as plate aspect ratios and boundary conditions.
This paper is to study the energy absorption characteristics of CF/Epoxy(Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Resin) laminated shell with the various curvatures subjected to transverse impact loadings under the low impact velocity in consideration of design of structural members for use of transportation machine, which are consisted of the characteristics of high stiffness, strength and lightweight. The curvature radius are associated with the energy absorption characteristics of CF/Epoxy laminated shell which is brittleness material. In all tests, maximum load of CF/Epoxy laminated plate is higher than that of laminated shell with curvature, but maximum deflection is lower. And then absorbed energy of laminated shell with curvature is higher than laminated plate(curvature radius is unlimited), As curvature radius is increased, the absorbed energy is increased in laminated shell with curvature.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the opacity and printing strength of MG paper overlaid plywood. The printing strength of ink on MG paper can be evaluated effectively by a formula $E^{*2}=[(L^{*})^{2}+(a^{*})^{2}+(b^{*})^{2}]^{1/2}$ that we proposed. Higher E value indicates good printing strength of ink-on-paper. We also assess the real color of translucent printed MG paper with a formula CIE ${\bigtriangleup}E^{*}$ (color difference between a pile of same paper to be opaque and fancy paper laminated board). In addition, the color difference on paper surface caused by the color of wood-based board (bottom) can be evaluated by a formula of Pc. No. Generally, an acceptable appearance quality of fancy boards is ${\bigtriangleup}E^{*}$ <2.0 and small Pc.No. value. The experimental results showed that Japan-made MG papers -J1, J2 and J3 have better printing strength and gloss than that of Taiwan-made paper (T1). The reason for this was that Taiwan-made paper has poor printing strength and low gloss, which might be correlated to the fiber compositions in paper. Higher printing strength can be seen for short fiber containing handsheets when comparing to that of handsheets. Nonetheless, low-freeness sheets gives better printing strength than that of high-freeness sheets. High-opacity MG paper gives good opacifying effect to the fancy paper laminated wood-based boards. Comparing the surface color of 2 kinds of fancy paper laminated boards, paperboard T1 laminated with high-opacity fancy paper showed slight color difference. The same results can be seen for $??g/m^{2}$ handsheets. Higher-opacity Acacia and Eucalyptus bleached sulfate pulps (short fiber) gives higher opacifying effect on the plywood when comparing to Northan pine and Radiata pine sulfate pulps(long fiber). The former ones also showed small color differences when comparing the color differences between the color of fancy paper and laminated paper board. Additionally, the color of bottom plywood can't be shown through for the high-opacify surface paper adhered to. Besides, the PC No of the base paper laminated board is small as well. Apparently, we can add colorants to the binders for the manufscture of various handsheets ($30g/m^{2}$) with various pulp mix ratios to increase the opacity of paperboards to certain extents. When we using yellow and brown binders in paper laminated board, the color difference between Acacia and Eucalyptus handsheets overlaid boards decreasing to 2.0 (acceptable ${\bigtriangleup}E^{*}$ <2.0, hard to discern), but not much improvement for Northern and Radiata pines. Definitely, show-through defects can be discernible for lower opacity papers. In general, admirable printing strength of fancy paper by which glued to plywood can be made with high-opacity paper and colored binders techniques.
In this paper, we analyzed the laminated composite sandwich plate structure of honeycomb core with changing values of the designing parameters. As a result, in designing parameters of that, the more height and thickness of the laminated composite plate's core, the more increase of natural frequency. The laminated angle has the maximum value when the plate of honeycomb core is join to opposite direction. This paper shows that the natural frequency of CFRP is higher than that of GFRP, and also impact strength marks maximum value in case of antisymmetry than symmetry of core. Also it shows that the mode shapes are various along with the angle-ply of laminated composite plate.
This paper presents post-buckling responses of a simply supported laminated composite beam subjected to a non-follower axially compression loads. In the nonlinear kinematic model of the laminated beam, total Lagrangian approach is used in conjunction with the Timoshenko beam theory. In the solution of the nonlinear problem, incremental displacement-based finite element method is used with Newton-Raphson iteration method. There is no restriction on the magnitudes of deflections and rotations in contradistinction to von-Karman strain displacement relations of the beam. The distinctive feature of this study is post-buckling analysis of Timoshenko Laminated beams full geometric non-linearity and by using finite element method. The effects of the fibber orientation angles and the stacking sequence of laminates on the post-buckling deflections, configurations and stresses of the composite laminated beam are illustrated and discussed in the numerical results. Numerical results show that the above-mentioned effects play a very important role on the post-buckling responses of the laminated composite beams.

In this study, we analyzed the combustion characteristics of four different floor covering materials(wood, monorium, laminatedpaper, and varnish-laminated paper) with regard to their ignitibility, thermal characteristics and flame retardancy by using an ignition temperature tester, a dual cone calorimeter, a thermogravimetric analyzer and limited oxygen index, for their fire risk assessment. According to the result, monorium had the lowest ignition temperature of $325^{\circ}C$ and the laminated paper and the varnish-laminated paper promptly ignited before 7s. Further, the wood showed the largest total heat release of $100MJ/m^2$, and the varnish-laminated paper showed the highest peak heat release rate. From the thermogravimetric analysis, it was shown that all specimens underwent rapid weight loss at $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$. The limit oxygen indices of the laminated paper and the varnish-laminated paper were in the range of 20~21%, while it was 34% for wood. This study enabled us to confirm that wood, laminated paper and varnish-laminated paper have a relatively short ignition time and are easy to burn but they all have low heat release. In contrast, wood showed the lowest fire risk among them and had excellent flame retardancy but with high heat release.
