층류 자유제트유동에 인가된 교류전기장의 영향 (Effect of AC electric fields on Free Jet Flow in a Laminar)

  • The experimental study on gasesous laminar free-jet flow was investigated by applying high voltage alternating current (AC) to the nozzle. The jet flows were affedcted significatly by AC electric fields particularly at high voltages for applied frequencies less than 80 Hz, while those were not responded to further increased frequencies. Under certain AC conditions of applied voltgae and frequency, the laminar gaseous fuel stem was broken down at an axial distance and subsequently separtaed into some parts. The velocity fields in jet flows interactiong with applied electric fields were compared with those without having electric field. Interaction of applying electric fields with laminar free jet flow was discussed in detail, and the possible mechanism was also explained.

U-Zr 합금의 미세조직과 조직안정성에 미치는 Mo 및 W 원소 첨가의 영향

  • 금속연료가 연소할 때 발생하는 Fission Gas는 주로 직경방향으로의 Swelling을 일으켜 낮은 연소도의 원인이 되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 높은 연소도를 갖는 금속연료의 개발을 목적으로 Fission Gas가 Plenum으로 쉽게 방출하는 조직인 Laminar Structure를 갖는 합금의 설계를 연구하였다. 또한 조사 후의 조직안정성을 예측하기 위해 열처리 후의 미세조직의 변화를 관찰하여 조직안정성을 시험하였다. U-10wt.%Zr 합금 중 Zr 원소 대신에 2wt.% 및 3wt.%의 W 또는 Mo을 첨가한 합금을 제조하여 합금원소 첨가의 영향에 따른 미세조직의 변화를 조사하였다. 그 결과 모든 조성의 합금은 Matrix에 있어서 Laminar Structure를 나타내었다. 또한 U-10wt.%Zr에 비해 2wt.% 및 3wt.%W의 W 또는 Mo를 첨가한 합금의 lamina Thickness가 철면 미세해짐을 확인하였다. 특히 U-7wt.%Zr-3wt.%W의 경우는 U-10wt.Zr에 비해 Laminar Thickness가 1/2배까지 감소되었다. 합금원소(W, Mo) 첨가에 의한 Laminar Thickness의 감소는 Fission Gas의 Inter-connected Path가 보다 잘 형성되게 하여 Gas의 방출속도를 증가시켜 Swelling을 감소시킬 것으로 생각된다. 열처리한 금속연료의 미세조직을 비교한 결과를 보면 합금원소(W, Mo)를 첨가한 합금을 50$0^{\circ}C$에서 1000시간동안 열처리한 것을 U-Zr 2원계 합금을 열처리한 것과 비교했을 때 약 1/3배 정도의 Laminar Thickness를 유지하는 것으로 보아 합금원소를 첨가하면 조사 후의 조직안정성에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

  • Spherically expanding flames are used to measure flame speeds, which are derived the corresponding laminar flame speeds at zero stretch. Flame speeds of n-butanol at high pressure are studied over an extensive range of equivalence ratios. The classical shadowgraph technique is used to detect the reaction zone. In analytical methodology the optimization process using least mean squares is performed to extract the laminar flame speeds. Laminar flame speeds are compared with results obtained from numerical work.

  • The full transport equation approach for laminar non-premixed flame with detailed chemistry, soot and radiation has an advantage in accuracy and describing for emission pathway, but this approach requires the excessive computational cost especially for a higher-order hydrocarbon fuel flames. On the other hand, the standard flamelet model has an efficiency and accuracy for non-premixed flame, though this model is not suitable for simulating slow processor like soot and radiation in laminar non-premixed flame situation. To overcome this limitation, modified transient flamelet model is developed which coupled with two-equation soot model involved in soot formation and evolution mechanism such as nucleation, surface growth, oxidation and agglomeration.

  • The characteristics of gas free jet flows in laminar with having applied electric fields have been investigated experimentally. A single electrode configuration was adopted such that electric fields were applied directly to nozzle and thus the surrounding could be an infinite ground. The experimental results showed that breakdown point at laminar flow has been measured by varying the applied voltage and frequency of AC. The effect of applying electric fields to free jet flow in laminar was discussed in detail.

  • In this study, the laminar burning velocities of SNG fuel were studied using both experimental measurements and kinetic simulations. They were measured using the angle method of Bunsen flame configuration and the annular diverging channel combustor. And they were also numerically calculated by CHEMKIN Package with GRI 3.0 mechanisms. Spectrometer was used for characteristics of flame chemiluminescence of SNG fuels. From results of this work, first, we found that according to adding $H_2$ contents in the fuels the laminar burning velocities of SNG fuels were increased. And second, we also discovered existence of OH*, CH*, $C_2*$, HCO*, $CH_2*$ radicals and their correlation.

Laminar Convective Heat Transfer from a Horizontal Flat Plate of Phase Change Material Slurry Flow

  • This paper presents the theory of similarity transformations applied to the momentum and energy equations for laminar, forced, external boundary layer flow over a horizontal flat plate which leads to a set of non-linear, ordinary differential equations of phase change material slurry(PCM Slurry). The momentum and energy equation set numerically to obtain the non-dimensional velocity and temperature profiles in a laminar boundary layer are solved. The heat transfer characteristics of PCM slurry was numerically investigated with similar method. It is clarified that the similar solution method of Newtonian fluid can be used reasonably this type of PCM slurry which has low concentration. The data of local wall heat flux and convective heat transfer coefficient of PCM slurry are higher than those of water more than 150$\~$200$\%$, approximately.

  • Three-dimensional steady incompressible laminar entry flows in a square duct of $90^{\circ}$ bend are numerically simulated by a new solution code(PowerCFD) using unstructured cell-centered method. Solutions are obtained with three unstructured grid types of hexahedron, prism and hybrid at a Reynolds number, based on the hydraulic diameter and bulk velocity, of 790. Interesting features of the flow are presented in detail. Detailed comparisons between the computed solutions and the available experimental data are given mainly for the velocity distributions at cross-sections in a $90^{\circ}$ bend of a square duct with fully-developed entry flows. It is found that the code is capable of producing the nature of laminar flow in curved square duct with no grid type dependency.

층류 부상화염 구조의 해석 (Analysis of the Laminar Lifted Flame Structure)

  • A lifted laminar flame structure has been numerically analyzed. The present study employs the physical submodels including the detailed chemical kinetics and the variable transport properties. The validation cases Include a lifted laminar CH4/air flame with a central diluted fuel jet and a surrounding fuel-lean coflow. Numerical results indicate the present approach successfully simulate the detailed structure and mechanism of the triple flame in the lifted laminar methane flame.

Laminar Flamelet Model을 이용한 비예혼합 난류제트화염의 연소과정 및 NO 생성 해석 (Laminar Flamelet Modeling of Combustion Processes and NO Formation in Nonpremixed Turbulent Jet Flames)

  • NOx formation in turbulent flames is strongly coupled with temperature, superequilibrium concentration of O radical, and residence time. This implies that in order to accurately predict NO level, it is necessary to develop sophisticated models able to account for the complex turbulent combustion processes including turbulence/chemistry interaction and radiative heat transfer. The present study numerically investigates the turbulent nonpremixed hydrogen jet flames using the laminar flamelet model. Flamelet library is constructed by solving the modified Peters equations and the turbulent combustion model is extended to nonadiabatic flame by introducing the enthalpy defect. The effects of turbulent fluctuation are taken into account by the presumed joint PDFs for mixture fraction, scalar dissipation rate, and enthalpy defect. The predictive capability of the present model has been validated against the detailed experimental data. Effects of nonequilibrium chemistry and radiative heat loss on the thermal NO formation are discussed in detail.
