제주도의 솔리아이트 화산활동 (Tholeitic volcanism in Cheju Island, Korea)

  • 이 연구는 알칼리 화산도로 특정지워진 제주도의 동부 성읍리, 서부 한림읍 이사돌 그리고 한경면고산리 지구내 해안에 분포하는 수매의 솔리아이트에 대한 암석기재, 광물화학, 주성분 및 미량성분 원소의 화학자료를 보고한다. 이들은 주로 반상조직인 알칼리암류에 비해 세립질이며, 주상 혹은 침상의 사장석 ($An_{61-46}$)과 사방휘석(브론자이트) 및 감람석($Fo_{78-67}$)이 입자간 조직을이룬다. 특징적으로 사방휘석이 반자형의 반정 혹은 미반정으로 산출되고, 두 유형의 단사휘석(피저나이트와 보통 휘석)은 석기 광물로만 산출한다. 이들 솔리아이트는 노옴 석영을 가지며, 주성분 원소의 변화 범위는 좁다(SiO2=51.0-52.5 wt%; Mg#=54-60). 주성분 원소와 전이금속 원소의 변화경향이 알칼리암ㄹ와 두드러진 것은 동일 마그마의 분화로 솔리아이트와 알칼리암의 관계를 설명할 수 없다는 것을 시사한다. 한편, $K_2O$, Rb, Ba, Nb, La들 간의 비는 솔리아이트와 알칼리암이 유사한 반면, P, Y, Yb 등 석류석과 친화적인 원소와 이 원소들 간의 비는 솔리아이트가 알칼리암보다 크다. 이러한 미량원소 특징은 제주도의 솔리아이트와 알칼리 현무암류는 동질 기원이나 부분용융정도가 다른 모마그마로부터 유래되었음을 시사한다.

경기 도시 지역 보건소 성인 방문자의 식생활과 건강 관련 라이프스타일 조사 (A Study on Dietary Behaviors, Health-Related Lifestyle of Adult Visitors at Public Health Centers in Gyeonggi Urban Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles of adult visitors at a public health center in Gyeonggi urban area. A survey using questionnaire was conducted with 949 visitors at Seongnam public health centers from June to August, 2012. The data from 905 respondents were analyzed by gender, consisting of 322 males and 583 females, and age group, consisting of 243 low-age group (LA), 312 middle-age group (MA), 350 high-age group (HA), aged 20 to 30 years, 31 to 50 years, and 51 to 69 years, respectively. Average Body Mass Index was 23.0, which increased with age, and education level was high in LA. 59.0 percent of the subjects had various diseases, and the incidence of hypertension was the highest, followed by allergy, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, joint rheumatism. Incidence rates of chronic disease increased with age, which were lower than those from 2011 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Weekly drinking frequency rate and smoking rate decreased with age, and exercise performing rate was high at male and HA, which showed the same tendency as KNHANES. Female and HA showed more healthy dietary behaviors such as restricting salt, sugar, oily foods, foods containing food additives, calorie, caring for balanced diet, and referring to nutrition label. Subjects chose stress as the first factor, followed by diet, exercise, etc., among 13 suggested factors which strongly influence on human's life-span. In general, public health center visitors, especially female and HA, showed better dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles compared with KNHANES.

분무 열분해 CVD법으로 이동 중인 LaAlO_3(100) 단결정 위에 증착시킨 YBCO 박막의 특성 (Deposition of YBCO Films on Moving Substrate by a Spray Pyrolysis method)

  • YBCO films were deposited on a moving substrate by a spray pyrolysis method using nitrate aqueous solution as precursors. Deposition was made on $LaAlO_3$(100) single crystal substrate by spraying precursor droplets generated by a concentric nozzle. The cation ratio of precursor solution was Y:Ba:Cu=1:2.65:4.5. The distance between nozzle and substrate was 15 cm. Substrate was transported with a speed ranging from 0.23 cm/min to 0.5 cm/min. Films were deposited at the pressure ranging from 10 Torr to 20 Torr and the deposition temperature was ranged from $740^{\circ}C\;to\;790^{\circ}C$. Oxygen partial pressure was controlled between 1 Tow and S Torr. Superconducting YBCO films were obtained from $740^{\circ}C\;to\;790^{\circ}C$ with an oxygen partial pressure of 3 Torr. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) observation revealed that films are smooth and highly texture with(001) plans parallel to substrate plane. Highest Jc was 0.72 $MA/cm^2$ at 77K and self-field for the film with a thickness of 0.15 m prepared at a substrate temperature of $740^{\circ}C$ and $PO_2$=3 Torr.

The investigation of a new fast timing system based on DRS4 waveform sampling system

  • In the study of nuclear structure, the fast timing technique can be used to measure the lifetime of excited states. In the paper, we have developed a new fast timing system, which is made up of two $LaBr_3:Ce$ detectors and a set of waveform sampling system. The sampling system based on domino ring sampler version 4 chip (DRS4) can digitize and store the waveform information of detector signal, with a smaller volume and higher timing accuracy, and the waveform data are performed by means of digital waveform analysis methods. The coincidence time resolution of the fast timing system for two annihilation 511 keV ${\gamma}$ photon is 200ps (FWHM), the energy resolution is 3.5%@511 keV, and the energy linear response in the large dynamic range is perfect. Meanwhile, to verify the fast timing performance of the system, the $^{152}Gd-2_1^+$ state form ${\beta}^+$ decay of $^{152}Eu$ source is measured. The measured lifetime is $45.3({\pm}5.0)ps$, very close to the value of the National Nuclear Data Center (NNDC: $46.2({\pm}3.9)ps$). The experimental results indicate that the fast timing system is capable of measuring the lifetime of dozens of ps. Therefore, the system can be widely used in the research of the fast timing technology.

A method using artificial neural networks to morphologically assess mouse blastocyst quality

  • Background: Morphologically classifying embryos is important for numerous laboratory techniques, which range from basic methods to methods for assisted reproduction. However, the standard method currently used for classification is subjective and depends on an embryologist's prior training. Thus, our work was aimed at developing software to classify morphological quality for blastocysts based on digital images. Methods: The developed methodology is suitable for the assistance of the embryologist on the task of analyzing blastocysts. The software uses artificial neural network techniques as a machine learning technique. These networks analyze both visual variables extracted from an image and biological features for an embryo. Results: After the training process the final accuracy of the system using this method was 95%. To aid the end-users in operating this system, we developed a graphical user interface that can be used to produce a quality assessment based on a previously trained artificial neural network. Conclusions: This process has a high potential for applicability because it can be adapted to additional species with greater economic appeal (human beings and cattle). Based on an objective assessment (without personal bias from the embryologist) and with high reproducibility between samples or different clinics and laboratories, this method will facilitate such classification in the future as an alternative practice for assessing embryo morphologies.

  • [ $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ ] thin films were fabricated on $LaAlO_3$(100) substrate by TFA-MOD process. Yttrium-excess (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 $at\%$) coating solution was prepared by adding extra amount of yttrium into a stoichiometric(Y:Ba:Cu=1:2:3) TFA precursor solution. Results are presented concerning the influence of excess yttrium additions on the microstructure development and superconducting properties of $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ film. Large sized CuO particles was observed by SEM EDS investigation. The addition of excess yttrium affected little on $T_c$ of $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ film. $J_c$ of YBCO film was enhanced with excess yttrium addition. Jc maximum of $2.21\;MA/cm^2$ (77 K, self field) appeared with the $15\;at\%$ addition of excess yttrium. With further yttrium addition up to $20\;at\%$, Jc decreased down to $0.9\;MA/cm^2$.

  • High $J_c$ over 1 $MA/cm^2$ YBCO film has been successfully prepared using nitrate precursors by spray pyrolysis method. Aerosol drolpets generated using a concentric spray nozzle were directly sprayed on a $LaAlO_3$(100) single crystal substrate. The cation ratio of precursor solution was Y:Ba:Cu=1:2.65:1.35. The distance between nozzle and substrate was 15 cm. Deposition temperature was ranging from $750^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$. Deposition pressure was 100 Torr, and oxygen partial pressure was varied from 10 Torr to 50 Torr. The microstructure, phase formation, texture development and superconducting properties of deposited films were largely changed with oxygen partial pressure. Deposited films showed a texture with(001) planes parallel to substrate plane. High quality film was obtained when film was deposited at $760^{\circ}C$ with an oxygen partial pressure of 30 Torr. The critical current density($J_c$) of the YBCO film was 1.75 $MA/cm^2$ at 77 K and self-field.

월출산 지역에 분포하는 중생대 화강암류에 대한 미량원소와 회토류원소의 특성 (Trace Elements and REE Characteristics of the Mesozoic Granites in the Wolchul Mt. Area)

  • The Wolchul Mt. area is composed of a biotite granite and a pink feldspar granite. These granites are distinctly different in terms of their field occurrence, mineralogy, trace element and REE composition, as well as their isotope ages. The biotite granite has higher ferromagnesian elements and lower lithophile trace element abundances than the pink feldspar granite. The biotite granite has high Sr and Ba while the pink feldspar granite has high Rb. On the Rb-Sr-Ba diagram the biotite granite plots as a granodiorite while the pink feldspar granite belongs to a strongly differentiated granite. The ${\Sigma}$ LREE/ ${\Sigma}$ REE for the biotite granite is 0.95 and for the pink feldspar granite it is 0.88. The ratio shows a steep decrese in LREE while HREE is essentially constant. Based on the Eu/Sm, $[La/Lu]_{cN}$ and low Eu(-), the biotite granite has quartz diorite to granodiorite composition while the pink feldspar granite, with a relatively high Eu(-) anomaly, falls into the monzo- to syenogranite classification. The silica vs. trace element diagrams for the two granites indicate that the biotite granite could have formed near to a continental margin or volcanic island setting environment while the pink feldspar granite formed within a continental plate or as result of plate collision. The biotite granite has a U-Pb zircon age of 175 Ma, i.e. Middle Jurassic. The pink feldspar granite is younger, it has a K-Ar orthoclase age $93.6{\pm}1.5$ Ma which is Late Cretaceous age.

가거도(소흑산도)의 백악기 화산암류에 대한 암석화학적 연구 (Petrochemical Study on the Cretaceous Volcanic Rocks in Kageo island, Korea)

  • 본역의 지질은 백악기 경상누층군의 퇴적암, 이를 관입 또는 분출한 중성화산암류, 산성화산암류 및 제 4기 충적층으로 구성된다. 중성화산암류는 화성쇄설화산각력암, 석질화산력응회암, 안산암용암으로 구성되며, 산성화산암류는 데사이트질용결응회암 및 유문암용암, 유문암질응회암으로 구성된다. 본 연구에서는 중성 및 산성 화산암류에 대해 암석기재학적 연구와 신선한 시료 10개에 대한 암석화학적 특성을 고찰하고, K-Ar법에 의한 절대연대 측정을 실시하였다. 현미경 관찰에서 안산암용암은 사장석이 주 반정광물로 나타나며, 기질은 미정질 내지 은미정질로서 반정광물과 동일한 필로택시틱 조직을 보인다. 안산암질각력암은 퇴적암 및 안산암의 자력 암편을 포함한다. 테사이트질용결응회암은 현저한 파라택시틱 조직을 보이며, 유문암용암은 유상구조를 잘 보여 주고, 안산암의 암편을 함유하고 용결구조가 현저한 화산력용결응회암이 나타나는데, 유문암용암에서 기질의 함량은 80.9~ 89.3%에 이른다. 주 반정광물은 사장석이며 부분적으로 녹염석, 녹니석, 방해석, 제오라이트, 푸로필라이트 등으로 2차 변질되어 나타난다. 본역의 화산암류는 Norm값에 의한 Q-A-P 도표에서 현무암질안산암, 안산암, 데사이트, 유문암의 일련의 분화과정을 나타내고 대부눈 칼크알칼리 계열에 속한다. 화산암류의 화학조성은 $SiO_2$ 함량이 57.61~75.40 %이며, MgO, CaO, $Fe_2O_3$, $Al_2O_3$, $Ti_2$, MnO, $P_2O_5$ 등은 $SiO_2$함량이 증가함에 따라 연속적으로 증가하는 경향을 보인다. 주성분원소 및 미량 원소의 변화도에서 안산암질에서 유문암으로 분화되는, 즉 마그마의 정출 분화 특징을 뚜렷이 보여준다. REE 양상 및 spider 도표에서 일정한 분화 경향을 보이며 나란하다. spider 도표에서 본역의 화산암류는 Th, La, Nd, Gd 등이 부화되어 있으며, Ba, Nb, Sr, Hf, Zr 등이 결핍되어 있는 특징을 나타낸다. 안산암에서 유문암으로 분화가 진행될수록 Cs, Sr, Eu이 점차 결핍되는 경향이, Th가 증가하는 경향이 있고, Ba, Nb, Sr, Eu의 부(-)의 이상값이 점차 커지는 경향을 보인다. 희유 원소의 변화 경향에서 안산암과 중성 암맥, 데사이트와 유문암의 경향이 서로 일치함을 볼 수 있다. 주성분 원소 및 미량 원소 함량 변화는 본역의 화산암이 안산암으로부터 일연의 분별결정작용 산물임을 암시하며, 또한 $Al_2O_3$와 CaO 함량의 관계도, Th/Yb 비에 대한 Ta/Yb 비의 관계도, $Ce_N/Yb_N$$Ce_N$의 관계도에 따른 판별에서도 분별결정작용의 경향을 따르고 있다. 본역의 화산암은 $K_2O$, $Na_2O$, CaO 삼각도에서 도호의 영역에, Ba/La비, La/Th비에 의한 판별도에서 조산대의 high-K suite에 속한다. Rb 대 (Y+Nb)의 판별도 및 Hf-Th-Ta 지구조 판별도에서 지판이 침강 섭입하는 지판 경계부(destructive plate margin) 중 화산호의 조구적 영역에 도시된다. 본역의 화산암을 생성시킨 마그마는 $Al_2O_3$와 CaO 함량의 관계도, mode에서 나타나는 사장석 반정, 분화가 진행될수록 부의 Eu 이상이 증가하는 것 등에서 사장석의 분별이 우세한 분별결정작용을 거쳤음을 알 수 있다. 안산암질암을 관입한 중상 암맥에서 측정한 암석 년령은 $97.0{\pm}6.8~94.5{\pm}6.6$, 데사이트질암은 $68.9{\pm}4.8,\61.5{\pm}4.9~60.7{\pm}4.2$Ma으로 측정되었고, 이것은 백악기 유천층군과 대비되며, 백악기 유천층군 암석의 지화학적 자료와 본역 화산암의 지화하적 자료는 판별도 등에서 같은 영역에 도시된다.

Microstructure evolution and effect on deuterium retention in oxide dispersion strengthened tungsten during He+ irradiation

  • Oxide dispersion-strengthened materials W-1wt%Pr2O3 and W-1wt%La2O3 were synthesized by wet chemical method and spark plasma sintering. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis, XRD and Vickers microhardness measurements were conducted to characterize the samples. The irradiations were carried out with a 5 keV helium ion beam to fluences up to 5.0 × 1021 ions/m2 under 600 ℃ using the low-energy ion irradiation system. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study was performed to investigate the microstructural evolution in W-1wt%Pr2O3 and W-1wt%La2O3. At 1.0 × 1020 He+/m2, the average loops size of the W-1wt%Pr2O3 was 4.3 nm, much lower than W-1wt% La2O3 of 8.5 nm. However, helium bubbles were not observed throughout in both doped W materials. The effects of pre-irradiation with 1.0 × 1021 He+/m2 on trapping of injected deuterium in doped W was studied by thermal desorption spectrometry (TDS) technique using quadrupole mass spectrometer. Compared with the samples without He+ pre-irradiation, deuterium (D) retention of doped W materials increased after He+ irradiation, whose retention was unsaturated at the damage level of 1.0 × 1022D2+/m2. The present results implied that irradiation effect of He+ ions must be taken into account to evaluate the deuterium retention in fusion material applications.
