We synthesize the recent work done on conditionally defined Lucas and Fibonacci numbers, tying together various definitions and results generalizing the linear recurrence relation. Allowing for any initial conditions, we determine the generating function and a Binet-like formula for the general sequence, in both the positive and negative directions, as well as relations among various sequence pairs. We also determine conditions for periodicity of these sequences and graph some recurrent figures in Python.

Assuming an intramolecular hydrogen-bonding, computation has been made on the optical rotatory power of 2-Chloro-1-Propanol. The magnitude of the calculated rotation is in fair agreement with the measured value of Lucas (calculated value: 21.6. measured value: 17.39). The agreement supports the validity of the assumption concerning the hydrogen-bonding between O atom and Cl atom. The agreement in sign confirms the validity the Fischer projection formula given by Lucas.

In this paper, we proposed automatic face detection and tracking which is robustness in rotation. To detect a face image in complicated background and various illuminating conditions, we used face skin color detection. we used Harris corner detector for extract facial feature points. After that, we need to track these feature points. In traditional method, Lucas-Kanade feature tracker doesn't delete useless feature points by occlusion in current scene (face rotation or out of camera). So we proposed the estimation function, which delete useless feature points. The method of delete useless feature points is estimation value at each pyramidal level. When the face was occlusion, we deleted these feature points. This can be robustness to face rotation and out of camera. In experimental results, we assess that using estimation function is better than traditional feature tracker.

To jointly optimize the spatial registration and the exposure compensation, an iterative registration algorithm, the Lucas-Kanade algorithm, is combined with an exposure compensation algorithm, which is based on the histogram transformation function. Based on a simple regression model, a nonparametric estimator, the empirical conditional mean, and its polynomial fitting are used as histogram transformation functions for the exposure compensation. Since the proposed algorithm is composed of separable optimization phases, the proposed algorithm is more advantageous than the joint approaches of Mann and Candocia in the aspect of implementation flexibility. The proposed algorithm performs a better registration for real images than the case of registration that does not consider the exposure difference.

Let $P{\geq}3$ be an integer and let ($U_n$) and ($V_n$) denote generalized Fibonacci and Lucas sequences defined by $U_0=0$, $U_1=1$; $V_0= 2$, $V_1=P$, and $U_{n+1}=PU_n-U_{n-1}$, $V_{n+1}=PV_n-V_{n-1}$ for $n{\geq}1$. In this study, when P is odd, we solve the equations $V_n=kx^2$ and $V_n=2kx^2$ with k | P and k > 1. Then, when k | P and k > 1, we solve some other equations such as $U_n=kx^2$, $U_n=2kx^2$, $U_n=3kx^2$, $V_n=kx^2{\mp}1$, $V_n=2kx^2{\mp}1$, and $U_n=kx^2{\mp}1$. Moreover, when P is odd, we solve the equations $V_n=wx^2+1$ and $V_n=wx^2-1$ for w = 2, 3, 6. After that, we solve some Diophantine equations.

In Faulkner's many works, most Mulattoes are represented as tragic characters who feel confused with their racial identity and are sacrificed by the Southern racism in the end. However, in Go Down, Moses Lucas Beauchamp is an exceptional mulatto in that he survives the Southern racism and achieves some dignity as a human. It is because he maintains the relationship with his family and environment as a skilled farmer. Although Southerners idealized their lives in plantations as nature-friendly and ecological way of life, plantation owners had little direct relationship with land as plantations were cultivated by black slaves' labor. Therefore, white landowners had little knowledge about cultivation and ecological awareness. Although Lucas Beauchamp is criticized as he has the strong will to power and patriarchal attitude, it is partly caused from endeavor to overcome the suppression as a black male whose masculinity is denied in the Southern society. In spite of his limitation, he shows the possibility to escape from the curse prevailing in the South, which abuses land and other races through the relationship with others and land. He has positive aspects in that he has genuine relationship with land and others and takes his responsibility for others, searching the most suitable way to survive as a black.
