차량용 무선통신기술(WAVE)의 철도 적용을 위한 성능검증 (Performance Verification of WAVE Communication Technology for Railway Application)

  • 차량무선통신(WAVE)은 고속이동환경에서 차량간 통신(V2V), 차량과 인프라간 통신(V2I)을 가능하게 하고 안전 및 편의 서비스를 제공하는 무선통신기술로써 지능형 교통시스템(ITS)에 적용을 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 WAVE 통신기술을 철도분야에 적용하기 위하여, 철도시험선에 WAVE 통신 기반의 시험용 무선통신시스템을 구축하고 현차시험을 수행하여 철도전용 통합무선망(LTE-R)의 통신성능 요구사항 충족 여부를 검토하였다. 시험 결과, 최대전송거리는 730m, 평균전송지연은 최대 5.69ms, 단절시간은 최대 1.36s로서 목표 요구사항을 충족하였으며, Throughput 및 영상데이터 전송, VoIP 데이터 전송, 채널 스위칭 시험도 성공적으로 수행되었다. 이상의 시험결과로 부터, WAVE 통신 기술이 철도분야에 적용 가능하다는 것을 확인하였으며, 차-지상간의 안정적인 무선통신시스템 구축을 가능하게 할 것으로 기대된다.

Hybrid-clustering game Algorithm for Resource Allocation in Macro-Femto HetNet

  • The heterogeneous network (HetNet) has been one of the key technologies in Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) with growing capacity and coverage demands. However, the introduction of femtocells has brought serious co-layer interference and cross-layer interference, which has been a major factor affecting system throughput. It is generally acknowledged that the resource allocation has significant impact on suppressing interference and improving the system performance. In this paper, we propose a hybrid-clustering algorithm based on the $Mat{\acute{e}}rn$ hard-core process (MHP) to restrain two kinds of co-channel interference in the HetNet. As the impracticality of the hexagonal grid model and the homogeneous Poisson point process model whose points distribute completely randomly to establish the system model. The HetNet model based on the MHP is adopted to satisfy the negative correlation distribution of base stations in this paper. Base on the system model, the spectrum sharing problem with restricted spectrum resources is further analyzed. On the basis of location information and the interference relation of base stations, a hybrid clustering method, which takes into accounts the fairness of two types of base stations is firstly proposed. Then, auction mechanism is discussed to achieve the spectrum sharing inside each cluster, avoiding the spectrum resource waste. Through combining the clustering theory and auction mechanism, the proposed novel algorithm can be applied to restrain the cross-layer interference and co-layer interference of HetNet, which has a high density of base stations. Simulation results show that spectral efficiency and system throughput increase to a certain degree.

이기종 네트워크에서의 간섭 제어 분석 (Analysis on Interference Control in Heterogeneous Networks)

  • 본 연구에서는 Heterogeneous Network에서의 간섭제어에 관한 기술 동향을 살펴보고, 간섭 제어 기술 중 3GPP release 10에서의 주요 기술 enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (enhanced ICIC, eICIC)을 택하여 성능을 분석해 보았다. eICIC기술 중 시간영역에서의 간섭 제어인 Almost Blank Subframe (ABS)와 Cell Range Expansion (CRE) 기술에 의한 성능을 분석하였다. Heterogeneous Network에서 macrocell과 femtocell 간의 간섭 제어를 적절히 하기 위해서는 ABS기술과 CRE 기술 간의 조합이 중요할 것으로 보인다. Heterogeneous Network의 전체 성능 평가는 정량적으로는 분석되기 어려워 system level simulation에 의해서 평가하였다. 본 연구에서는 SLS 방식으로 다양한 환경에 대한 성능을 분석함으로써 Heterogeneous Network 운영에 있어 각각의 요소가 미치는 영향을 파악할 수 있도록 하였으며, Heterogeneous Network에서의 ABS와 CRE의 결합에 의한 효과를 분석하였다.

펨토셀 시스템 용량 개선을 위한 전력 제어 알고리즘 (A Power Control Algorithm for Performance Enhancement in Femtocell Systems)

  • 최근 통신 시장의 규모는 해마다 늘어가고 있다. 무선 사용자들의 요구 데이터 전송 속도의 증가와 무선 자원의 포화로 인해 우리는 새로운 무선 기술을 개발하여 통신 자원을 효율적으로 이용할 필요가 있다. Femtocell은 작은 단위를 뜻하는 Femto와 기지국의 커버리지 범위를 나타내는 Cell의 합성어로 무선 자원을 효율적으로 이용할 수 있는 새로운 통신 기술을 원하는 통신 시장의 요구에 부흥하는 기술 중의 하나이다. Femtocell은 Macrocell 안에 설치되는 형태를 취하기 때문에 Power Control과 Handover는 중요한 사항 중에 하나이며 그에 따라 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 기존의 논문에서는 Handover 확률을 낮추기 위해 Tx Power를 낮춘 결과 통신 용량의 저하가 일어나는 문제가 발생하였다. 본 논문에서는 Femtocell의 문제 중 하나인 Macrocell과의 Handover 문제를 최소화하며 통신 용량을 늘리는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하였고 이를 시뮬레이션으로 시연하였다. 그 결과 기존의 논문과 거의 비슷한 Handover 성능을 가지며 더 높은 Throughput 성능을 얻었다.

Performance Analysis of a Dense Device to Device Network

  • Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is a technology component for long-term evolution-advanced (LTE-A). In D2D communication, users in close proximity to each other can communicate directly without going through a base station; such direct communication can improve spectral efficiency. Although D2D communication brings improvement in spectral efficiency, it also causes interference to the cellular network as a result of spectrum sharing. In particularly, D2D communication can generate interference for each D2D pair when the common wireless medium in a co-located limited area is accessed. Even though the interference management for between the D2D pair and cellular networks has been proposed, the interference reducing methods have still not been fully studied for the D2D pairs. In this paper, we investigate the problem of D2D pair coexistence in which interference is considered between D2D pairs. Using a signal to interference model for a target D2D pair, we provide an analysis of the aggregated throughput of a dense D2D network. For a target D2D pair, we assume that the desired signal and interference signals obey multipath fading and shadow fading. Through analysis, we demonstrate the effect of cluster size such as the number of D2D pairs and the size of the considered area on the network performance. The analytical results are compared with computer simulations. Our work can be used for a rough guideline for controlling the system throughput in a dense D2D network environment.

백홀 시스템에서 시스템 레벨 시뮬레이션 기반 하이브리드 수신기 설계 및 성능 분석 (Design and Performance Analysis of Hybrid Receiver based on System Level Simulation in Backhaul System)

  • 폭발적으로 증가하고 있는 모바일 데이터 트래픽을 수용하기 위하여 셀 간 간섭을 제어할 수 있는 향상된 수신기에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이를 위해 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) 에서는 인접 셀의 간섭 신호를 억제 및 제거하여 수신기의 SINR(Signal-to-Noise-plus-Interference Ratio)을 향상시켜 수신 성능을 올리는 NAICS(Network Assisted Interference Cancellation and Suppression)가 표준에서 논의되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이웃셀로 부터 간섭의 영향을 줄이기 위하여 연판정 기반의 향상된 수신기를 제안한다. 제안한 수신기는 MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error) 또는 IRC (Interference Rejection Combing) 수신기를 통해 간섭 신호의 불편 추정 (unbiased estimation) 값을 계산 하고 간섭 신호를 억제 및 제거한다. 간섭 신호는 LLR (Log-Likelihood Ratio)로 표현되는 소프트 정보를 통해 업데이트 한다. 시스템 레벨 시뮬레이션은 3GPP LTE-Advanced 하향링크 시스템의 20MHz 대역을 기반으로 이루어 졌으며, 시뮬레이션 결과 제안한 수신기를 통해 기존 수신기보다 SINR, 전송률 및 스펙트럼 효율 측면에서 성능 향상을 가져다주는 것을 확인하였다.

Application of Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System for Interference Management in Heterogeneous Network

  • Femtocell (FC) technology envisaged as a cost-effective approach to attain better indoor coverage of mobile voice and data service. Deployment of FCs over macrocell forms a heterogeneous network. In urban areas, the key factor limits the successful deployment of FCs is inter-cell interference (ICI), which severely affects the performance of victim users. Autonomous FC transmission power setting is one straightforward way for coordinating ICI in the downlink. Application of intelligent control using soft computing techniques has not yet explored well for wireless networks. In this work, autonomous FC transmission power setting strategy using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System is proposed. The main advantage of the proposed method is zero signaling overhead, reduced computational complexity and bare minimum delay in performing power setting of FC base station because only the periodic channel measurement reports fed back by the user equipment are needed. System level simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method by providing much better throughput, even under high interference activation scenario and cell edge users can be prevented from going outage.

A Downlink Load Control Scheme with a Dynamic Load Threshold and Virtual Coverage Management for Two-Tier Femtocell Networks

  • This paper proposes a dynamic downlink load control scheme that jointly employs dynamic load threshold management and virtual coverage management schemes to reduce the degree of performance degradation due to traffic overload in two-tier femtocell networks. With the proposed scheme, the downlink load in a serving macrocell is controlled with a load threshold which is adjusted dynamically depending on the varying downlink load conditions of neighboring macrocells. In addition, traffic overloading is alleviated by virtually adjusting the coverage of the overloaded serving macrocell, based on the adjusted load threshold of the serving macrocell. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the performance of two-tier femtocell networks in terms of the outage probability and sum throughput. This improvement is significantly increased with appropriate values of load thresholds and with an intermediate-level adjustment of the virtual coverage area (i.e., handover hysteresis margin: HOM). Furthermore, the proposed scheme outperforms both a previously proposed load control scheme with a static load threshold and the LTE system without a HOM adjustment.

사용자 공정성을 위한 MU-MIMO 시스템에서 반직교 사용자 선택 알고리즘에 중첩 코딩 적용 연구 (Superposition Coding in SUS MU-MIMO system for user fairness)

  • Nowadays, various researches fulfill in many communication engineering area for B4G (Beyond Forth Generation). Next LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced), MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multi Input Multi Output) method raises to upgrade throughput performance. However, the method of user selection is not decided because of many types and discussions in MU-MIMO system. Many existing methods are powerful for enhancing performance but have various restrictions in practical implementation. Fairness problem is primary restriction in this area. Existing papers emphasis algorithm to increase sum-rate but we introduce an algorithm about dealing with fairness problem for real commercialization implementation. Therefore, this paper introduces new user selection method in MU-MIMO system. This method overcomes a fairness problem in SUS (Semiorthogonal User Selection) algorithm. We can use the method to get a similar sum-rate with SUS and a high fairness performance. And this paper uses a hybrid method with SC-SUS (Superposition Coding SUS) algorithm and SUS algorithm. We find a threshold value of optimal performance by experimental method. We show this performance by computer simulation with MATLAB and analysis that results. And we compare the results with another paper's that different way to solve fairness problem.

Analysis of adjacent channel interference using distribution function for V2X communication systems in the 5.9-GHz band for ITS

  • Many use cases have been presented on providing convenience and safety for vehicles employing wireless access in vehicular environments and long-term evolution communication technologies. As the 70-MHz bandwidth in the 5.9-GHz band is allocated as an intelligent transportation system (ITS) service, there exists the issue that vehicular communication systems should not interfere with each other during their usage. Numerous studies have been conducted on adjacent interfering channels, but there is insufficient research on vehicular communication systems in the ITS band. In this paper, we analyze the interference channel performance between communication systems using distribution functions. Two types of scenarios comprising adjacent channel interference are defined. In each scenario, a combination of an aggressor and victim network is categorized into four test cases. The minimum requirements and conditions to meet a 10% packet error rate are analyzed in terms of outage probability, packet error rate, and throughput for different transmission rates. This paper presents an adjacent channel interference ratio and communication coverage to obtain a satisfactory performance.
