  • This paper deals with the method of starting characteristic analysis of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet (LSPM)motor. The starting characteristic such as current, torque and is important in LSPM because of demagnetizing of the permanent magnet.   • This paper presents the analysis of the effects of non-uniform slots in a line start permanent magnet (LSPM) motor. For purposes of the investigation, the simple formula of $2^{nd}$resistance for rotors having different slot areas is deduced. The characteristic analysis using the formula is performed and compared with measurement results.

  • 본 논문은 단상 line-start permanent- magnet (LSPM) 전동기가 가지는 비동기 운전영역에서 나타나는 다양한 토크성분을 해석적 방법으로 분석한다. 비 동기속도에서의 정상상태 전류를 DQ 등가회로를 이용하여 유도하였으며, 이를 이용하여 유도전류와 제동전류의 주파수를 확인하였다. 마지막으로 시간차분 해석을 이용하여 비동기 운전영역의 특정 속도에 대한 토크와 전류를 분석하였으며, 주파수 변환을 이용하여 각 전류의 주파수 성분을 확인하였다.

  • This paper deals with the cost reduction design of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet(LSPM) motor. Due to high cost of the permanent magnet(PM), cost reduction can be effectively achieved by reducing PM volume. Therefore, motor characteristics according to the PM volume are calculated by using d-q axis equivalent circuit analysis, and the characteristic map is made. In the characteristic map, maximum torque and efficiency are shown according to motor parameters such as back electromotive force(back emf) and inductances; back emf represents the PM volume. Minimum back emf and inductances satisfying output performance are determined in the characteristic map. Then, motor geometry based on the prototype motor is optimized to get the determined parameters using response surface methodology(RSM) and finite element method(FEM). Through the presented cost reduction design, total PM volume is reduced to 32% of prototype model.

  • This study investigates magnetic circuit design of the Single-phase Line-start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (LSPM) to develop the characteristics in steady state. In this paper, the saliency ratio, that is the ratio of q-axial inductance to d-axial inductance, and the inductance difference between q-axial inductance and d-axial inductance are increased. Design factor is selected permanent magnet position and rotor diameter. The analysis method of the synchronous motor on d-/q- axis coordinates is used for the positive component and the equivalent circuit of the induction motor is applied for the negative component analysis. Back-emf and d-q- axial inductance is analyzed by using 2 dimensional Finite Element Method (FEM). Characteristic analysis results with variation of design factor are reflected magnetic circuit design of LSPM. The characteristics of design model are compared with the characteristic of initial model.

  • In previous structure of single phase LSPM, there is large torque ripple that makes a noise and a vibration by a distortion of flux distribution in air gap. By this reason, the single phase LSPM is not accepted home applications. So, in this paper, we propose new structure of single phase LSPM(Line Start Permanent magnet Motor). The proposed model is reduced a torque ripple about a half than previous model.

  • The line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor has a high efficiency and an advantage in constant speed operation regardless of the effect of load variation. However it is difficult to predict the performance of characteristics accurately, because of the unbalanced starting torque with the initial starting position of the rotor and the generation of a break torque. In this paper the dynamic characteristics of the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor are described and compared with those of the squirrel-cage induction motor through the simulation to find the characteristics of the permanent magnets and the rotor bars in the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor.

  • In this paper, the design of rotor shape was performed for improvement of start-up characteristics and efficiency in single-phase LSPM. In order to improve the start-up characteristics, shape of rotor aluminium cage bar was changed. Through arrangement of permanent magnets and installation of flux barriers, it was performed torque ripple reduction and efficiency improvement. Cogging torque and back-EMF is calculated by the no-load analysis, start-up time is calculated by the start-up state analysis, efficiency and torque ripple is calculated by steady state analysis. The characteristics of the motor were calculated through FEM.

  • 단상 유도형 동기전동기(Line-Start Permanent Magnet Motor: LSPM)는 기존의 단상유도기에 비해 높은 효율을 갖고 있어 가정에서의 주요 동력원으로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 기동 시 영구자석에 의한 Braking toruqe의 발생으로 인해 높은 기동토크를 필요로 하는 단점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 LSPM의 장점과 기동 시의 문제점 극복에 유리한 Written-Pole Motor (WPM)에 대해 소개하였다 또한 WPM의 보다 정화한 해석을 위해 WPM의 특징인 운전시 진행되는 영구자석 착자의 유한요소해석을 통해 영구자석의 잔류자속밀도를 계산하였으며 이를 바탕으로 WPM의 동기속도에서의 정특성 해석을 수행하였다.

  • The single-phase line start permanent magnet motor(LSPM) have a rotor cage bar for induction starting and permanent magnets, providing synchronous torque. So, LSPM is vary complex and difficult to analysis transient characteristics and rotor design. In this paper, F.E.M analysis about single-phase line start permanent magnet motor and compare of the single-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor's transient characteristics by size and position of rotor bar.
