High Luminescence Properties of YPV nano size phosphors by a Liquid Phase Precursor Method

  • The synthesis of nano-size ($Y_{0.955}Eu_{0.1}$)($P_{0.7}V_{0.45}$)$O_4$ red phosphors were conducted by using a Liquid Phase Precursor (LPP) method. In this method, cellulose pulp was used as a template showing the micro fibre structures to obtain the nano size YPV red phosphor. Aqueous solutions of raw materials were impregnated into cellulose pulp and subsequently impregnated pulp was dried and fired at $800-1200^{\circ}C$ for 1h. The effect of luminescence properties on compositions and temperatures was evaluated with photoluminescence spectrum, X-ray diffraction and FE-SEM, and TEM. High efficiency (~110%) of phosphor of size of ~500nm fired at $1150^{\circ}C$ was obtained compared with the micro size of commercial product. High efficiency behaviors of nano size phosphors were discussed in this paper.

  • In this paper, we studied electric Insulation characteristics of synthetic Laminated Polypropylene Paper (LPP) in liquid nitrogen (L$N_2$) for the application to high temperature super-conducting (HTS) cable. And, we selected the insulation paper/L$N_2$composite insulation type for the electric insulation design of a HTS cable. Furthermore, we compared the breakdown characteristics of the butt gap and bended mini-model cable that comes into being in this kind of cryogenic insulation type. It is necessary to understand the winding parameter of insulation paper/L$N_2$composite insulation.

  • A 154kV class high-temperature superconducting (HTS) power cable system is developing in Korea. For insulation design of this cable, it is important that study on cryogenic electrical insulation design to develop the cold dielectric type HTS cable because the cable is operated under the high voltage environment in cryogenic temperature. Therefore, this paper describes a design method for the electrical insulation layer of the cold dielectric type HTS cable adopting the partial discharge-free design under ac stress, based on the experimental results such a ac breakdown strength, partial discharge inception stress, $V_{ac}$-t characteristics, $V_{imp}$-n characteristics, and impulse breakdown strength of liquid nitrogen/laminated polypropylene paper (LPP) composite insulation system in which the mini-model cable is immersed into pressurized liquid nitrogen.

  • The high temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable, as a key component of the next generation power transmission system, operates cost-effectively because of much less transmission loss. Currently, a world-wide research has been undertaken actively. In this research, we designed insulation thickness and investigated thickness effect of laminated polypropylene paper(LPP) which is insulation material of HTS cable in case of AC and impulse breakdown.

  • 선형이나 타의 특성은 선박의 조종성능에 큰 영향을 미친다. 특히, 설계단계에서의 조종성능 추정에 주로 사용하는 추정근사식(경험식)은 대부분 IMO 조종성 기준(IMO, resolution MSC.137[76])의 적용을 받는 Lpp 100 m 이상의 대형 상선모델로부터 도출되었기 때문에, 선체가 작고 선형이 다른 어선의 조종성능을 추정하기에는 다소 오차를 발생시킬 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 상선선형과 트롤어선선형이 가지는 고유한 제원 특성을 비교하여 추정오차의 발생 유무를 확인하였고, 트롤어선선형이 가지는 고유한 선형 특성을 분석하여 어선 분야의 자율운항선박 설계에 필요한 파라메터를 마련하였다.

  • 자율주행 시뮬레이터를 위한 대체재로 게임 엔진을 통한 가상 환경 모의 연구가 수행되고 있다. 하지만 게임 엔진에서는 자율 주행에 필요한 센서를 기기에 맞게 사용자가 직접 모델링을 해줘야 하기 때문에 개발 비용이 크게 작용된다. 특히, Ray 를 활용한 3D LIDAR 는 GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) 사용량이 많은 작업이기 때문에 저비용 시뮬레이터를 위해서는 저비용 3D LIDAR 모의가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 낮은 컴퓨터 연산을 사용하는 C++ 기반 3D LIDAR 모의 프레임 워크를 제안한다. 제안된 3D LIDAR 는 다수의 언덕으로 이루어진 비포장 Map 에서 성능을 검증 하였으며, 성능 검증을 의해 본 논문에서 생성된 3D LIDAR 로 간단한 LPP(Local Path Planning) 생성 방법도 소개한다. 제안된 3D LIDAR 프레임 워크는 저비용 실시간 모의가 필요한 자율 주행 분야에 적극 활용되길 바란다.

Historical Change of Population Abundances of Panonychus ulmi and Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) in Selected Apple Orchards in Suwon and Its Hypothetical Explanation (수원 지역 사과원에서 사과응애와 점박이응애 개체군의 역사적 변천과정 및 해석)

  • Historical changes of population abundances of European red mite (ERM), Panonychus ulmi (Koch), and two-spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae (Koch) (Acari: Tetranychidae), were described in selected apple orchards in the National Horticultural Research Institute (NHRI, Suwon, Korea), based on research reports of the NHRI from 1958 to 1998. ERM was an abundant species up to 1970, and TSSM became a dominant species after 1980. The change occurred around mid 1970. Three hypotheses were made to explain the change: TSSM competitively replaces ERM, ground cover weeds are a major influencing factor on movement of TSSM (TSSM movement into trees is accelerated by destroying weeds), and ERM and TSSM populations are regulated by natural enemy complexes when the orchard system is not disrupted. And long-term results of the interaction between two species were projected according to the combination of different orchard management strategies: pesticide sprays (non-selective toxic pesticide spray : heavy pesticide pressure (HPP), and selective soft pesticide spray = low pesticide pressure (LPP)) and weed control methods (grass planting, and clean culture system with herbicides). In the HPP and grass planting system, ERMs are abundant because ERM can avoid competition with TSSM as movement of TSSM to trees are restricted, and natural enemy complexes are destroyed by toxic pesticides. In the HPP and clean culture system, TSSMs are abundant because TSSM moves to trees from early season and competitively replaces ERM. In the LPP and grass planting system, ERMs are abundant because movement of TSSM to trees is reduced, but they do not build up a high population density since their densities are regulated by natural enemy complexes. In the LPP and clean culture system, TSSM moves to trees and competes with ERM, but the competition pressure is reduced because population densities of mites are regulated in a lower level by natural enemy complexes. So, ERM can occurs in late season. Thus, two species can coexist temporarily with more ERM in early season and more TSSM in late season. TSSM abundant phenomenon presented in this study can be partially explained as a result of long-term interaction between ERM and TSSM under the HPP and clean culture system.

Study on Mechanism of Combustion Instability in a Dump Gas Turbine Combustor (모형가스터빈 연소기내 연소불안정성에 대한 연구)

  • Combustion instabilities are an important concern associated with lean premixed combustion. Laboratory-scale dump combustor was used to understand the underlying mechanisms causing combustion instabilities. Experiments were conducted at atmospheric pressure and sound level meter was used to track the pressure fluctuations inside the combustor. Instability maps and phase-resolved OH chemiluminescence images were obtained at several conditions to investigate the mechanism of combustion instability and relations between pressure wave and heat release rate. It showed that combustion instability was susceptible to occur at higher value of equivalence ratio (>0.6) as the mean velocity was decreased. Instabilities exhibited a longitudinal mode with a dominant frequency of ∼341.8 Hz, which corresponded to a quarter wave mode of combustor. Heat release and pressure waves were in-phase when instabilities occurred. Rayleigh index distribution gave a hint about the location where the strong coherence of pressure and heat release existed. These results also give an insight to the control scheme of combustion instabilities. Emission test revealed that NOx emissions were affected by not only equivalence ratio but also combustion instability.

An Experimental Study on the Shallow Water Effect on Series 60 Hull Form (천수 영역에서의 Series 60 선형에 대한 실험적 고찰)

  • For coastal service ships, the water depth is a very important parameter in the design stage of the hull form that has an influence on the restriction of the speed and draft of ships. In this study, the water depth is important for ship design. In this research, the change of total resistance, trim and sinkage due to the variation of water depth are measured by using on equipment for shallow water condition. For the basic research step about the shallow water effect, the effects on Series60($C_B=0.6$) hull form are experimented. To compare with existing experiment results, the test conditions are same with those. The water depth conditions are 10, 15, 20, 25% of LPP of the model ship, respectively.

Insulation Test for the 22.9 kV Class HTS Power Transmission Cable

  • HTS power transmission cable is expected to transport large electric power with a compact size. We are developing a 3-core, 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power cable, and each core consists of a conductor and shield wound with Bi-2223 tapes, electrical insulation with laminated polypropylene paper (LPP) impregnated with liquid nitrogen. This paper describes the design and experimental results of the model cable for the 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power transmission cable. The model cable was used the SUS tapes instead of HTS tapes because of testing the electrical characteristics only. The model cable was 1.3 m long and electrical insulation thickness was 4.5 mm. The model cable was evaluated the partial discharge (PD), AC and Impulse withstand voltage in liquid nitrogen. The AC and Impulse withstands voltage and PD inception stress was satisfied with the standard of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in the test results. The 3-core 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power cable has been designed and manufactured based on these experimental results.
