플라즈마 제트 플러그의 형상이 정적연소기내 연소특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Configuration of Plasma Jet Plug on Combustion Characteristics in a Constant Volume Vessel)

  • This paper presents combustion characteristics of LPG-air mixture ignited by the plasma jet in a cylindrical vessel with constant volume, in which our focus is placed on the multi-hole plug configuration. Four types of the plug configuration depending on the number of orifice and the arranged angle are considered, along with two cases of conventional spark ignition for comparison. Not only the flame propagation is photographed at intervals, but the pressure in the combustion chamber is also recorded through the entire combustion process. The results show that the plasma jet ignition enhances the overall combustion rate remarkably in comparison to the spark ignition by generating irregular flame front and penetrating through the unburned mixture. The combustion enhancement rate agrees favorably with the available data, which supports the validity of our experiment. Synthetically estimating, the two-hole sixty-degree plug appears to be the most desirable, in that the maximum pressure as well as the combustion duration is less affected by the sub-energy level than the others. It is also deduced that there may exist an optimal plug configuration capable of rapid combustion for a specific combustion chamber.

  • Fire tests were conducted on cables using fire-retardant paint employed in nuclear power plants that transmit electrical power, control and instrument signals. The failure criteria of various power and control cables coated with fire retardant coating at three different coating thicknesses (~0.5 mm, 1.0 mm & 1.5 mm) were studied under direct flame test using Container Fire Test Facility (CFTF) based on standard tests for bare cables. A direct flame fire test was conducted for 10 min with an LPG ribbon burner rated at ten by fixing the cable samples in a vertical cable track. Inner sheath temperature was measured until ambient conditions were achieved by natural convection. The cables are visually evaluated for damage and the mass loss percentage. Cable functionality is ascertained by checking for electrical continuity for each sample. The thickness of cable coating on fire exposure is also studied by comparing the transient variation of inner sheath temperature along the Cable length. This study also evaluated the adequacy of fire-retardant coating on cables used for safety-critical equipment in nuclear power plants.

초희박 LPG 직접분사식 엔진에서 질소산화물 저감을 위한 배기재순환 적용성 평가 (Evaluation of EGR applicability for NOx reduction in lean-burn LPG direct injection engine)

  • LPG가 수송용 연료로서 경쟁력을 유지하기 위해서는 지속적인 기술개발을 통해 휘발유와의 연비격차를 감소시키고 후처리시스템 등에 의한 가격 부담을 낮추어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 안정적인 희박연소 구현을 통한 연비개선을 얻기 위해 실린더 중앙에 점화플러그와 연료분사기가 인접해 있고, 연료가 분사된 후 바로 점화가 이루어지도록 하는 분무유도방식의 LPG 직접분사엔진을 개발의 일환으로 연소제어인자의 변화에 따른 연소 특성을 분석하였다. 안정적인 연소를 위해 국부적으로 농후한 혼합기를 형성하는 성층희박연소의 특성상 일정 수준이상의 질소산화물이 배출되는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 질소산화물 저감을 위해 EGR을 적용한 결과 연료소비율과 THC의 배출은 약간 증가하지만 $NO_x$배출은 약 15% 저감되었다. EGR 적용에 의한 연소속도의 감소는 초기 화염발달 시기에 집중되어 나타났으며 흡입공기의 희석효과에 의해 EGR율이 증가할수록 최대 열방출율 및 열방출율 증가 기울기가 감소하였다.

화염용융법에 의한 구상 알루미나 제조에 미치는 초기 알루미나 원료의 화학조성과 입도의 영향 (Effects of Chemical Composition and Particle Size of Starting Aluminum Source on the Spheroidization in the Flame Fusion Process)

  • Various inorganic fillers improve the thermal conductivity and physical properties of organic products. Alumina has been used a representative filler in the heat radiation sheet for the heat radiation of electric device. The high filling rate of alumina increases the thermal conductivity and properties of products. We successfully developed the spherical alumina by flame fusion process using the oxygen burner with LPG fuel. In the high temperature flame (2500$\sim$3000$^{\circ}C$) of oxygen burner, sprayed powders were melting and then rotated by carrier gas. This surface melting and rotation process made spherical alumina. Especially effects of chemical composition and particle size of stating materials on the melting behavior of starting materials in the flame and spheroidization ratio were investigated. As a result, spheroidization ratio of boehmite and aluminum hydroxide with endothermic reaction of dehydration process was lower than that of the sintered alumina without dehydration reaction.

LP가스 폭발 후 화재 전이 현상 및 전이 방지에 관한 연구 (A Study on the transition of Explosion to Eire of LPG and Its' Prevention)

  • 본 논문은 가스폭발로부터 화채로의 전이현상 및 전이 방지 연구를 위해 가로 세로 높이가 각각 $100 cm {\times} 60 cm {\times} 45 cm$인 폭발용기를 사용하여 폭발 후 화재로의 전이현상을 고속 비디오로 가시화하고 가시화된 영상을 분석하여 그 기구들을 확인하였다. 고체 가연물로는 신문용지를 가로 세로가 $30cm {\times} 20cm$크기로 절단하여 사용하였고 LPG-공기 혼합가스는 10㎸ 전기 스파크를 사용하여 점화시켰다. 실험 변수로는 혼합가스의 농도, 개구부의 크기 및 가연물의 위치 등이었으며, 파열면의 크기는 $10cm {\times} 9cm, 13cm {\times} 10cm, 27cm {\times} 20cm, 40cm {\times} 27cm$로 하였고 가연물의 설치 위치는 4종류로 하였다. 폭발 후 전이 방지 기구의 고찰은 가스 소화약제인 이산화탄소를 이용하여 실험하였다. 실험 결과 가스폭발로부터 화재로의 전이 현상은 혼합가스의 농도와 고온의 화염 및 연소가스에 노출되는 시간에 많은 영향을 받으며 폭발 후 분위기의 냉각이나 불활성화를 통해 화재로의 전이를 방지 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

수산소 혼합가스를 이용한 선상가열 특성 (The Characteristics of Line Heating Using Hydrox Gas)

  • The technology of line heating has evolved in various methods. Among them, fossil fuels like ethylene gas and LPG(Liquid Petroleum Gas) are widely used due to their simple utility. In the meantime, the technology implementing high frequency for line heating has also been developed continually, but its manufacturing technology or application includes lots of problems by now. One of the main characteristics of line heating using conventional technolob'Y is the quenching effect followed by heating process. On the other hand, hydrox gas which is mixed by hydrogen and oxygen is a prominent candidate for an application without above shortcomings. Especially, it is found that line heating using hydrox gas is tremendously effective taking low cost as well as low noise. In this paper, a small cell with high efficiency which can minimize installing space is developed to deal with the problem installing in narrow place. Experiments to prove the validation, efficiency and effectiveness is carried out by characterizing in the line heating of steel. It is found that the energy saving of using hydrox gas for line heating is significant and that the deviation performance is reduced by 78~89%. Furthermore, the noise is also reduced as amount of 18.3% though the heating time is not too different.

플라즈마를 이용한 FGR 기반 저 NOx 연소 타당성 연구 (Feasibility Study of Low NOx Combustion based on FGR using Plasma Reformer)

  • A combined hydrogen generator of plasma and catalytic reformer was developed, and was applied to stabilize unstable flame of 200,000 Kcal/hr LPG combustor. The role of the plasma reformer was to generate hydrogen in a short period and to heat-up the catalytic reformer during the start-up time. After the start-up period, the catalytic reformer generates hydrogen through steam reforming with oxygen (SRO) reactions. The maximum capacity of the hydrogen generator was enough 100 lpm to stabilize the flame of the present combustor. In order to reduce NOx and CO emissions simultaneously, 1) FGR (Flue Gas Recirculation) technique has been adopted and 2) the hydrogen was added into the fuel supplied to the combustor. Test results showed that the addition of 25% hydrogen and 30% FGR rate lead to simultaneous decrease of CO and NOx emissions. The technique developed in the present study showed good potential to replace $NH_3$ SCR technique, especially in the small-scale combustor applications.

  • 본 연구에서는 다중선회연소기의 원리에 기초하여 연료와 산화제의 접촉면적 및 혼합속도를 증가시킴으로써 연소부하의 증대 및 연소효율의 향상효과를 얻을 수 있 는 새로운 연소방식을 개발하기 위한 시도로서 속도차가 있는 동축의 두 공기분류 사 이의 전단층에 기체연료를 분출시켜서 형성되는 난류확산 화염에 관하여 유동장의 성 상이 화염안정한계 및 화염구조에 미치는 영향을 조사하여 실용연소기의 유도장제어 및 고부하연소기설계를 위한 기초자료를 얻는데 목적이 있다.

철강재료 가공용 수산소 혼합가스 발생기 (Hydrox Generator for Steel Manufacturing)

  • A low capacity generator converted to high capacity of 40m3 is designed and developed in order to use the hydroxy gas in the steel manufacturing process. For efficient design, it is increased from 8 electrode tubes to 10 electrode tubes as well as expanding the diameter of cell integument up to two times bigger, which can increase the amount of hydrogen occurrence per a cell significantly. In addition, circulating pump and pipe, heat exchanger of affiliated SUS material have been used in the circulation of electrolysis catalyst, and circulating cooling section and piping design are also developed. The flame trap is designed into all-in-one suitable check valve in the flow rate of 28-35m3/h and its application is possibly applied in work operation. It is found that the efficiency of generator developed is enhanced substantially up to 84%. It is expected that the application in this field can be expanded significantly by this study.
