  • Groundwater is considered to be the best water resource to solve water shortage problems during drought periods. Even though excessive pumping (overdraft) during short-period may give an unprofitable effect on groundwater hydrology, it has a primary role to solve a lack of water resources and to maintain incomes of farmers. This study evaluated maximum irrigation amounts of groundwater to each local-government and province during drought periods. Maximum irrigation amounts of groundwater were evaluated using cumulative groundwater usage data of each local-government during normal and drought years. Maximum irrigation amounts of groundwater during drought periods would be roughly identified as approximately 1.3 times more than the exploitable amounts of groundwater resources for each local-government. Drawdown-limitation depth on groundwater levels at each monitoring well was determined by transforming the maximum irrigating amounts into degree of change on levels. Universal limitation depth of drawdown on groundwater levels was evaluated to be approximately three times of annual fluctuating range on groundwater levels for each monitoring well. Systematic response on groundwater demands with abiding by drawdown-limitation depth can attain an optimal irrigation of groundwater resources during short-term drought.

  • Recently, construction of housing sites, complexes, roads, ports and airports is increasing for high-intensity use of the country and balanced development between regions. Presently, constructions are being conducted at soft ground. Consequently, engineering problems as long-term settlement of the ground, differential settlement, local structural damage have been reported consistently at construction site. In particular, long-term subsidence of the ground as various constructions and loads by the load will necessarily occur in the soft ground of west-south coast and inland coast. Therefore, in this study, regional proper analysis methods of the Hyperbole method, Hosino method, $\sqrt{S}$ method, Asaoka method etc as existing long-term settlement prediction methods have been examined and a study on new prediction method was conducted through deduction of a generalized equation. Correlation coefficients of soil properties and construction conditions has been analyzed and a matching coefficient of long-term settlement characteristics has been deducted. Comparison and analysis of monitoring data and numerical analysis results of 16 local area have been conducted.

  • Confronting rapid population ageing, Japanese government proposes various types of regional comprehensive care programs for elderly people. In particular, the Japanese government and local governments are making efforts to ensuring long-term care workforce. Among others, the government is pursuing measures to secure specialized manpower in various ways 1) Construction of infrastructure, 2) Loan system for long-term care worker, 3) Inflow of long-term care staff for foreign students, etc. Also, universities have trained numerous community care specialists through research centers for health care, social welfare, and specialized education. Korea is also expected to explode the demand for long-term care worker at the rapid rate of aging, and it is necessary to actively discuss measures to cope with it.

  • We report a rare case of long-term survival in a patient who received local therapy and salvage chemotherapy for recurrent metastases, along with a literature review. A 65-year-old male patient underwent subtotal gastrectomy for advanced gastric adenocarcinoma. Six months after gastrectomy, 2 metastatic intra-abdominal lymph node enlargements were detected, which were treated with radiotherapy. At 55 months after gastrectomy, an abdominal wall mass was detected, which was treated by surgical resection. The patient received 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin/irinotecan chemotherapy for 27 months before and after radiotherapy and docetaxel chemotherapy for 6 months after surgical resection of the abdominal wall metastasis. At the last visit, 7.8 years since the initial resection of the primary gastric cancer and 6.2 years since detection of the first metastases, the patient was disease-free and required no further chemotherapy. This case suggests that repeated local therapy offers potential for long-term survival in a carefully selected subset of patients with recurrent metastases.

  • The mapping of dark matter clustering from real to redshift spaces introduces the anisotropic property to the measured density power spectrum in redshift space, known as the Redshift Space Distortion (hereafter RSD) effect. The mapping formula is intrinsically non-linear, which is complicated by the higher order polynomials due to the indefinite cross correlations between the density and velocity fields, and the Finger-of-God (hereafter FoG) effect due to the randomness of the peculiar velocity field. Furthermore, the rigorous test of this mapping formula is contaminated by the unknown non-linearity of the density and velocity fields, including their auto- and cross-correlations, for calculating which our theoretical calculation breaks down beyond some scales. Whilst the full higher order polynomials remains unknown, the other systematics can be controlled consistently within the same order truncation in the expansion of the mapping formula, as shown in this paper. The systematic due to the unknown non-linear density and velocity fields is removed by separately measuring all terms in the expansion using simulations. The uncertainty caused by the velocity randomness is controlled by splitting the FoG term into two pieces, 1) the non-local FoG term being independent of the separation vector between two different points, and 2) the local FoG term appearing as an indefinite polynomials which is expanded in the same order as all other perturbative polynomials. Using 100 realizations of simulations, we find that the best fitted non-local FoG function is Gaussian, with only one scale-independent free parameter, and that our new mapping formulation accurately reproduces the observed power spectrum in redshift space at the smallest scales by far, up to k ~ 0.3 h/Mpc, considering the resolution of future experiments.

  • We pay attention to a coupled problem by a penalty term which is induced from non-overlapping domain decomposition methods based on augmented Lagrangian methodology. The coupled problem is composed by two parts mainly; one is a problem associated with local problems in non-overlapping subdomains and the other is a coupled part over all subdomains due to the penalty term. For the speedup of iterative solvers for the coupled problem, we propose two different types of preconditioners: a block-diagonal preconditioner and an additive Schwarz preconditioner as overlapping domain decomposition methods. We analyze the coupled problem and the preconditioned problems in terms of their condition numbers. Finally we present numerical results which show the performance of the proposed methods.

  • This study aims to critically consider the local cultural policies of the government and local governments by village mural. Village murals, which began to be painted in the late 1990s, have been a nationwide cultural phenomenon for decades. In particular, it was consistently used as an important element of various local cultural policies implemented by the government and local governments. The government and local governments have been working on the project for two purposes: 'improving the residential environment' and 'activating tourism' but it has largely focused on 'activating tourism'. This study grasped the concrete status of major village murals across the country through field surveys, one of the case study methods. Also, through the analysis of official documents, the government and local governments operating in the village mural project were analyzed for the policy basis and administrative management plan. As a result of on-site surveys, most of the village murals across the country had problems such as uniform subject matter, low level representation, and poor follow-up management. This is partly based on the experiences and abilities of organizations and artists who participated in the village mural project, but fundamentally, it is due to the projects of the government and local governments that focused on short-term visual tourism rather than long-term improvement of the residential environment. It was confirmed that the projects of the government and local governments were carried out through vertical integration and that there were problems in the actual work, such as requiring specific topics, subject matter, designs and colors. As a result, the village murals 'objectify' the residents and 'romanticized' the place, resulting in a unified visual representation. Therefore, this study suggests that the administration and accounting should be strictly managed, but in actual work, the vertical integration structure should be eased by simplifying various documents and procedures, as well as rich cultural understanding of the target place, selection of various topics, and original subject matter and expressions.

  • In this paper, we first consider the existence and regularity of solutions of the semilinear control system under natural assumptions such as the local Lipschtiz continuity of nonlinear term. Thereafter, we will also establish the approximate controllability for the equation when the corresponding linear system is approximately controllable.

  • In this paper, we construct some results on the existence and regularity for solutions of neutral functional differential equations with unbounded principal operators in Hilbert spaces. In order to establish the existence and regularity for solutions of the neutral system by using fractional power of operators and the local Lipschtiz continuity of nonlinear term without using many of the strong restrictions considering in the previous literature.
