  • We develop a heat exchanger modules for a multi-burner boiler. The heat exchanger module is kind of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). This heat recovery system has 4 heat exchanger modules. The 1st module consists of 27 bare tubes due to high temperature exhaust gas and the others consist of 27 finned tubes. The maximum steam pressure of each module is 1 MPa and tested steam pressure is 0.7 MPa. In order to test these heat exchanger modules, we make a 0.5t/h flue tube boiler (LNG, $40\;Nm^3/h$). We tested the heat exchanger module with changing the position of each heat exchanger module. We measured the inlet and outlet temperature of each heat exchanger module and calculated the heat exchange rate. The results show that if module C is placed at second stage (the 1st stage is always module O, bare tube module), there is no need to attach an additional heat exchanger module. In this case the exit temperature of module C is low enough to enter an economizer which is more effective in heat recovery than a heat exchanger module.

  • The new concept for liquefaction of natural gas has been designed and simulated in this paper. Conventional liquefaction cycles are usually composed with Joule-Thomson valves at lower temperature refrigerant cycle. The new concept of natural gas liquefaction is discussed. The main difference with conventional liquefaction process is the presence of the turbine at low temperature of MR (mixed refrigerant) cycle. The turbine acts as expander but also as an energy generator. This generated energy is provided to the compressor which consumes energy to pressurize refrigerants. The composition of the mixed refrigerant is investigated in this study. Components of the refrigerant are methane, propane and nitrogen. Composition for new process is traced with Aspen HYSYS software. LNG heat exchangers are analyzed for the new process. Heating and cooling curves in heat exchangers were also analyzed.

직접접촉식 LNG기화기 응용을 위한 칼럼 열교환기 기포특성에 관한 연구 (The Characteristics of Bubbles in a Column Heat Exchanger for the Application of Direct Contact LNG Evaporator)

  • In the present investigation, it has been proposed to utilize a direct contact heat exchanger as an evaporator to solve the difficulties such as scaling, corrosion and law thermal efficiencies, associated with the conventional evaporator. Liquified nitrozen was utilized as a working fluid to investigate basic natures of bubble dynamics in the evaporator, and spray nozzles were adopted to inject liquified nitrozen into the spray column with varying flow rates of dispersed phase fluids. Experimentations were carried out in the range of $6.54{\times}10^{-4}kg/s$ - 0.030 kg/s for dispersed phase flow rates with one, three and five nozzle holes. Observing the bubble dynamics for the evaporator the feasibility of utilizing a direct contact heat exchanger as a LNG evaporator has been evaluated. The results show that no eruption phenomena was observed in the present investigation with $LN_2$ and the interface between $N_2$ bubbles and water was fully turbulent. It is believed that the high injection velocity of $LN_2$ through the spray nozzles provide good mixing effects for both heat and mass transfers between water and $N_2$ bubbles. Ice was formed on the surface of the spray nozzle for higher $LN_2$ flow rates. However, even in this case, it is observed that the ice was detached as soon as it was formed. Under the present experimental conditions, the shapes of $LN_2$ bubbles were in the spherical-cap region according to the Clift, Grace and Weber Graphs. The height of foam region caused by the breakup of larger bubbles keeps increasing with high injection velocities until it reaches it's maximum height.

  • This paper describes the experimental study of reverse-Brayton refrigeration system for application to high temperature superconductivity electric devices and LNG re-liquefaction. The reverse-Brayton refrigeration cycle is designed with operating pressure of 0.5 and 1.0 MPa, cooling capacity of 2 kW at 77 K, and neon as a working fluid. The refrigeration system is developed with multi scroll compressor, turbo expander and plate heat exchanger. From experiments, the performance characteristics of used components is measured and discussed for 77-120 K of operating temperature. The developed refrigeration system shows the cooling capacity of 1.23 kW at 77 K and 1.64 kW at 110 K.

  • We develop heat exchanger modules for a multi-burner boiler. The heat exchanger module is kind of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). This heat recovery system has 4 heat exchanger modules. The 1st module consists of 27 bare tubes due to high temperature exhaust gas and the others consist of 27 finned tubes. The maximum steam pressure of each module is 10 bar and tested steam pressure is 4 bar. In order to test these heat exchanger modules, we make a 0.5t/h flue tube boiler (LNG, $40\;Nm^3/h$). The test results of 100% boiler load show that heat transfer rate of 1st module is 49.7 Mcal/h which is 34% of total heat transfer rate and that of 2nd module is 82.6 Mcal/h which is 57% of total heat transfer rate. The reason of higher the heat transfer rate of 2nd module than that of 1st module is that the 2nd heat exchanger module has finned tubes instead of bare tube. The boiler load 50% results show that only 2 heat exchanger modules are needed to extract the heat from the flue gas to water. From this result, it is very important of optimum design of the first finned tube among all water tubes.

소규모 가스전 규모에 따른 SMR 천연가스 액화 플랜트 용량별 비용 분석 사례연구 (Case Studies for SMR Natural Gas Liquefaction Plant by Capacity in Small Scale Gas Wells through Cost Analysis)

  • 천연가스 액화공정은 극저온에서 운전되며, 에너지 집약적이다. 따라서 에너지 소모량을 최소화하기 위한 최적화 연구가 많이 진행되고 있으나, 천연가스 액화공정의 용량에 따른 비용 최적화는 많이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 천연가스 액화공정 중 SMR (Single Mixed Refrigerant) 공정을 대상으로, 용량별 설치비용과 운전비용을 분석하였다. SMR 공정의 용량은 1 MTPA (million ton per annum)부터 0.5 MTPA 단위로 증가하여 2.5 MTPA까지 설정하였다. 플랜트 용량의 증가에 따라 천연가스와 냉매의 유량만을 증가시켰으며, 온도, 압력, 조성 등 다른 운전조건은 모든 용량에서 동일하게 적용하였다. 비용 분석을 위해 Aspen Economic Evaluator(v8.7)를 사용하였으며, 비용 정보를 얻기 힘든 다중 흐름 열교환기의 경우에는 six tenths factor rule을 적용하여 계산하였다. 또한 용량별 SMR 공정의 비용 연구결과를 2천만 톤, 4천만 톤 및 8천만 톤 규모의 소규모 가스전에 대하여 적용한 결과, 가스전 규모에 따라 최적의 플랜트 용량을 찾을 수 있었다. 이러한 비용 분석을 통해 비용기반 최적화의 발판을 마련하였다.

LNG선박용 열교환기 세관의 SCC에 미치는 응력의 영향 (The Effect of Stress on SCC of Heat Exchanger Tube for LNG Vessel)

  • Al-황동은 기계적 특성 및 열전도성이 우수하고 해수 중에서 표면 보호피막을 형성하므로 부식저항성이 높아 해수를 냉각수로 사용하는 선박용 열교환기의 세관재로 널리 사용되고 있다 Al-황동 세관은 실제 사용 환경에서 굽힘 등에 의한 소성변형된 상태로 사용되는 경우가 많다. 이와 같은 소성변형에 의한 Al-황동 세관의 균열 파손사례는 선박의 오일탱크 내의 가열코일, 각종 열교환기의 세관 등에서 흔히 찾아 볼 수 있다. 또한 세관의 확관에 의한 밀봉 방법에 따라 세관의 변형에 의한 잔류응력 및 어패류 혼입에 의한 해수 유입부의 국부적인 유속증가 등에 기인하여 Al-황동 세관의 균열 및 침식 등의 파손사례가 보고되고있다. 본 연구에서는 $3.5\%$ NaCl. + $0.1\%\;NH_4OH$ 수용액을 시험편 표면에 5 m/s로 액분사하의 가속실험에서 Al-황동 세관의 응력부식균열 거동에 미치는 응력의 영향에 대하여 고찰하였다.

CFD 시뮬레이션 기반 초임계 LNG용 사인함수 PCHE 설계 (Design of sinusoidal shape channel PCHEs for supercritical LNG based on CFD simulation)

  • Printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) is a compact heat exchanger with good heat transfer performance, high structure integrity, and reliability over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. Instead of the traditional zigzag and straight shape channel, the sinusoidal shape channel was adopted in this study to investigate the relation of thermal-hydraulic performance and waviness factors (period and amplitude). The local flow characteristics and the heat flux distribution were compared to verify the effects of period and amplitude on heat transfer performance. As the period of channel becomes shorter, the rapid change of the flow direction can produce high flow separation around the corner leading to the disturbance of the boundary layer opposite wall. The nonuniform distribution of flow velocity appeared around the corner positions can promote fluid mixing and lead to higher thermal performance. An evaluation index was used to compare the comprehensive performance of PCHE considering the Nusselt number and Fanning factor. Based on the simulation results, the optimal design parameters of PCHE channel shape were found that the channel with an equivalent bending angle of 15° offers the highest heat flux capacity.

염색폐수 열회시스템 적용기술 분석 (An Analysis of the Application Technology of Heat Recovery System from Dyeing Wastewater)

  • 염색가공공정은 에너지 다소비형이며, 염색조업을 수행하는 과정에서 약 4$0^{\circ}C$ 정도의 열원폐수를 다량으로 방출하고 있지만 이를 회수할 수 있는 기술개발이 이루어지지 않아서 아직 미활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 열원폐수의 열을 회수하여 이용할 수 있는 방안을 마련하기 위하여 먼저 염색공정의 특성을 고찰하고. 직물별, 공정별 에너지원단위를 조사한 결과 상대적으로 에너지원같위가 높은 T/C, T/R 교직물 업체나 폴리에스테르 염색업체에서 폐수열을 회수하여 이용하기에 적합한 것을 알 수 있다. 그리고 염색업체별, 계절별 폐수의 배출량과 온도를 조사한 결과 각 업체당 평균 폐수배출량은 20,470톤/월이고, 평균폐수온도는 41.$0^{\circ}C$로 나타났다 또한, 배관 침적, 폐쇄 등으로 폐열회수시스템의 안정적 운전이나 열교환기의 성능에 악영향을 끼칠 수 있는 SS의 경우 폴리에스테르 염색폐수가 가장 낮아 폴리에스테르 염색폐수가 폐열회수에 가장 유리할 것으로 판단되었다. 염색공장에서 기존에 사용하고 있는 시스템과 폐수열이용 시스템의 에너지단가를 비교해보면 폐열회수시스템에서 압축식 열펌프를 적용하면 에너지단가는 22.50원이 되어 매우 경제적이며, 증기생산을 위한 보일러 연료로 LNG를 사용하는 업체에 압축식 폐열회수시스템을 적용할 경우가 투자비 회수기간이 2.09년으로 경제성이 매우 우수한 것으로 나타나 열펌프시스템의 적용기술을 보급할 수 있는 기반을 마련하였다.

대형 LNG선 주냉각기 해수라인의 부압현상 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of a Negative Pressure in the Seawater Line of a Main Centeral Cooler (MCC) for a Large LNG Ship)

  • The heat exchangers in the ships have been changed from the conventional shell & tube type to the plate type due to some merits as a compactness, a high thermal efficiency and a light-weight. In recent. it is reported that the vacuum phenomena were occurred in the seawater outlet piping of a main central cooler (MCC) on the ships. From the viewpoints of a common sense, the vacuum pressure in the seawater piping is rare event and difficult to be convinced because the seawater is pumped into the piping by a seawater pump with a high discharge head. However, the occurrence of a vacuum pressure in the seawater line of an MCC is real situation and often gives a severe damage to a rubber gasket of an MCC with a plate type heat transfer area. In this study, we analyzed the vacuum pressure in the seawater line of an MCC by using the simpl Bernoulli's equation and found that the vacuum pressure in the seawater line of an MCC is inevitable untill the installation postion of an MCC is not lowered.
