Promising line development of sweet sorghum by gamma-ray treatment (감마선($^{60}Co$) 처리 효과에 의한 억새의 변이체 유기 및 유망 계통 육성)

  • In order to develop the new Miscanthus varieties for biomass, characteristics of collected materials were surveyed. Also, they were treated with S-azide(Sodium-azide) and DES(dethyl sulfate) for promising lines and 0.2% Colchicine for polyploidy, respectively. CNU-J1 line induced with chemical, DES and S-azide treatment showed shorter than others in stem height and stem diameter. CNU-N1 line treated with 10 mM DES showed earlier than non-treated lines in flowering as 7days. Among selected lines, the CNU-J1 line was crossed with DB-1 selected as a superior line and their hybrid was expected to be high in biomass than others. Especially, CNU-W1 line treated with 2.5~5.0 mM DES showed heading in M1 generation.

The Black Hole Mass - Stellar Velocity Dispersion Relation of Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies

  • Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies are arguably the most important AGN subclass in investigating the origin of the black hole mass-galaxy stellar velocity dispersion (MBH-${\sigma}$) relation because of their high accretion rates close to the Eddington limit. Currently, it is still under discussion whether NLS1s are off from the local MBH-${\sigma}$ relation. We select a sample of 325 NLS1 at relatively low redshift (z<0.1) from the SDSS DR7 by constraining FWHM of $H{\beta}$ in the range of 800-2,200 km/s. Among them, we measured stellar velocity dispersion of 40 objects which show strong stellar absorption lines, e.g. Mg b triplet(${\sim}5175{\AA}$), Fe($5270{\AA}$). In contrast, the other 285 objects show too weak stellar absorption lines to measure velocity dispersion. Using the sample of 40 objects with stellar velocity dispersion measurements, we investigate whether NLS1s follow the same MBH-${\sigma}$ relation as normal galaxies and broad line AGNs. We also test the reliability of the width of narrow lines as a surrogate of stellar velocity dispersion by comparing directly measured stellar velocity dispersion with ${\sigma}$ inferred from [O III], [N II], [S II] line widths, respectively. We will discuss the connection between AGN activity in NLS1s and galaxy evolution based on these results.

Engineering the Cellular Protein Secretory Pathway for Enhancement of Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator Expression in Chinese Hamster Ovary Cells: Effects of CERT and XBP1s Genes

  • Cell line development is the most critical and also the most time-consuming step in the production of recombinant therapeutic proteins. In this regard, a variety of vector and cell engineering strategies have been developed for generating high-producing mammalian cells; however, the cell line engineering approach seems to show various results on different recombinant protein producer cells. In order to improve the secretory capacity of a recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA)-producing Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line, we developed cell line engineering approaches based on the ceramide transfer protein (CERT) and X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1) genes. For this purpose, CERT S132A, a mutant form of CERT that is resistant to phosphorylation, and XBP1s were overexpressed in a recombinant t-PA-producing CHO cell line. Overexpression of CERT S132A increased the specific productivity of t-PA-producing CHO cells up to 35%. In contrast, the heterologous expression of XBP1s did not affect the t-PA expression rate. Our results suggest that CERT-S132A-based secretion engineering could be an effective strategy for enhancing recombinant t-PA production in CHO cells.

  • We have performed an EMTDC simulation for the current limiting effects of a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL). The fault currents in the 154 kV transmission line between the arbitrary S1 and S2 substations increased up to 54 KA and 60 KA during the line-to-line and three phase faults, respectively. The SFCL with 100$\omega$ of resistance after quench limited the currents to less than 17 KA within a half cycle. This limited current is well below the upper limit of a circuit breaker, suggesting that the resistance of the SFCL in the transmission line is sufficient.

THIN SHELL FORMATION TIME AND [OIII] LINE IN FAST WIND BUBBLE (빠른 항성풍 거품의 구각형성 시각과 [OIII]선의 형성)

  • We determine analytically the onset of thin-shell formation time of fast wind bubble with power-law energy injection $E_{in}=E_0t^s$, and power-law ambient density structure, ${\rho}_0(r)={\bar{\rho}}(r/{\bar{r}})^{-{\omega}}$. Thin-shell formation time, $t_{sf}$ can be estimated by minimizing the total time elapsed before the complete cooling of shocked gas. For uniform medium (${\omega}=0$) and constant energy injection (s = 1), the onset of shell formation is found to be at $t_{sf}=5.2{\times}10^3yr$, which agrees Quite well with the results of FCT 1D numerical calculation. We solve the line transfer problem with previous result derived by numerical calculation in order to calculate line profile of [OIII] (${\lambda}=5007{\AA}$) forbidden line. In general, radiative outer shell causes the formation of double peaked line profile. Each peak corresponds to approaching and receeding shells with large velocities. Our line profiles show good agreements with observation of expanding shell structure.

  • One of well known and much studied nonlinear matrix equations is the matrix polynomial which has the form $P(X)=A_0X^m+A_1X^{m-1}+{\cdots}+A_m$, where $A_0$, $A_1$, ${\cdots}$, $A_m$ and X are $n{\times}n$ complex matrices. Newton's method was introduced a useful tool for solving the equation P(X)=0. Here, we suggest an improved approach to solve each Newton step and consider how to incorporate line searches into Newton's method for solving the matrix polynomial. Finally, we give some numerical experiment to show that line searches reduce the number of iterations for convergence.

Measurement method of the signal transfer characteristic(S21) of the impedance transformer (임피던스 변환회로의 신호 전달특성(S21) 측정 방법)

  • In order to measure the transfer characteristic(S21) of the impedance transformer, two impedance transformers must be symmetrically connected. However, the transfer characteristic of two symmetrically connected impedance transformers is influenced by the length of the intermediate connection line. This paper theoretically examines closely the length of the intermediate connection line to obtain the accurate transfer characteristic of the impedance transformer. The electrical length of the intermediate connection line for obtaining the accurate transfer characteristic of the 4:1(50-Ω:12.5-Ω) impedance transformer is calculated about 45°. Using the calculated length of the connection line, The λ/4-microstrip impedance transformer is fabricated at 1 GHz to measure the transfer characteristic. The symmetrically connected impedance transformer is measured the reflection characteristic(S11) of -40.64dB and the transfer characteristic(S21) of -0.154dB at 0.980GHz. This value is approximately equal to the theoretical calculated 987MHz center frequency and -0.15dB transfer loss value of the λ/4-microstrip impedance transformer.

Interface characteristics of Cu/TiN system by XPS (XPS를 이용한 Cu/TiN의 계면에 관한 연구)

  • A chemical reaction and electronic structure change at the interface between copper and titanium nitride were investigated by XPS. A thin Cu layer was deposited on a TiN substrate oxidized by exposure to air at room temperature. We observed the Ti(2p), O(1s), N(1s), Cu(2p) core-level, and Cu LMM Auger line spectra. With increasing of the thickness of Cu layer, these spectra do not show any changes in the line shape as well as in peak position. In addition, the valence band spectra in XPS do not show any changes, which indicates that Cu does not react with Ti, N, and O. This inreactivity of Cu might cause a poor adhesion between Cu and TiN.

  • This study was implemented to offer materials for the activation of On-line food shopping mall though census about purchasing food. A percentage of people who had accessed to On-line food shopping mall was 53.8%, and who had an experience of purchasing food at the On-line sopping mali was 18.9%. The number of food purchasing in On-line food market is $1{\sim}3$ times(67.7%). It is general that an amount of food purchase is less than 100,000 wons. And the health assistant food is the most interesting item followed by Meet, Special products like a laver and mushroom, and an anchovy. in purchasing food at On-line market, customer thought that the confidence and the freshness of food are important because customer can't choose a product directly. In the future of food purchase using On-line shopping mall, 38.1% of people show their intend of purchasing at the mall. People who had experience of food purchase though the Internet have more positive view about repurchase than ones had not.

N III Bowen Lines and Fluorescence Mechanism in the Symbiotic Star AG Peg

  • We have investigated the intensities and full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the high dispersion spectroscopic N III emission lines of AG Peg, observed with the Hamilton Echelle Spectrograph (HES) in three different epochs at Mt. Hamilton's Lick Observatory. The earlier theoretical Bowen line study assumed the continuum fluorescence effect, presenting a large discrepancy with the present data. Hence, we analyzed the observed N III lines assuming line fluorescence as the only suitable source: (1) The O III and N III resonance line profiles near ${\lambda}$ 374 were decomposed, using the Gaussian function, and the contributions from various O III line components were determined. (2) Based on the theoretical resonant N III intensities, the expected N III Bowen intensities were obtained to fit the observed values. Our study shows that the incoming line photon number ratio must be considered to balance at each N III Bowen line level in the ultraviolet radiation according to the observed lines in the optical zone. We also found that the average FWHM of the N III Bowen lines was about $5km{\cdot}s^{-1}$ greater than that of the O III Bowen lines, perhaps due to the inherently different kinematic characteristics of their emission zones.
