Charge-discharge Behaviour of Lithium Ion Secondary Battery Using LiCo$O_2$ Synthesized by a Solution Phase Reaction (액상 반응에 의해 합성한 리튬코발트산화물을 이용한 Lithium ion 2차전지의 충방전 특성)

  • The LiCo$O_2$ powder was synthesized by a solution phase reaction. This shows a high (003) peak intensity and low (104) or (101) peak intensities in X-ray diffraction spectra. The LiCo$O_2$/Li cell shows an initial discharge capacity of 102.9mAh/g and an average discharge potential or 3.877V at a current density of 50mA/g between 3.0~4.2V. The peaks of dQ/dV plot are associated with Li ion intercalation/deintercalation reaction. To evaluate the cycleability of an actual battery system, cylindrical lithium ion cell was manufactured using graphitized MPCF anode and LiCoO$_2$ cathode. After 100th cycle, this cel maintains 80% capacity of 10th cycle value. The LiCoO$_2$/MPCF cell has a high discharge voltage of 3.6~3.7V and a good cycle life performance on cycling between 4.2~2.7V.

  • The $LiNbO_3$ thin films were prepared directly on Si(100) substrates by conventional RF magnetron spurttering system for nonvolatile memory applications. RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing) treatment was performed for as-deposited films in an oxygen atmosphere at 600 $^{\circ}C$ for 60 s. The rapid thermal annealed films were changed to poly-crystalline ferroelectric nature from amorphous of as-deposition. The resistivity of the ferroelectric $LiNbO_3$ film was increased from a typical value of $1{\sim}2{\times}10^8{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ before the annealing to about $1{\times}10^{13}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at 500 kV/cm and reduced the interface state density of the $LiNbO_3/Si$ (100) interface to about $1{\times}10^{11}/cm^2{\cdot}eV$. Ferroelectric hysteresis measurements using a Sawyer-Tower circuit yielded remanent polarization ($P_r$) and coercive field ($E_c$) values of about 1.2 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ and 120 kV/cm, respectively.

The Effect of Coating Thickness on the Electrochemical Properties of a Li-La-Ti-O-coated Li[Ni0.3Co0.4Mn0.3]O2 Cathode

  • A $Li[Ni_{0.3}Co_{0.4}Mn_{0.3}]O_2$ cathode was modified by coating with Li-La-Ti-O, and the effect of the coating thickness on their electrochemical properties was studied. The thickness of the coating on the surface of $Li[Ni_{0.3}Co_{0.4}Mn_{0.3}]O_2$ was increased by increasing the wt % of the coating material. The rate capability of the Li-La-Ti-O-coated electrode was superior to that of the pristine sample. 1- and 2-wt %-coated samples showed considerable improvement in capacity retention at high C rates. However, the rate capability of a 5-wt %-coated sample decreased. All the coated samples showed a high discharge capacity and slightly improved cyclic performance under a high cut-off voltage (4.8 V) condition. Results of a storage test confirmed that the Li-La-Ti-O coating layer was effective in suppressing the dissolution of the transition metals as it offered protection from the attack of the acidic electrolyte. In particular, the 2- and 5-wt %-coated samples showed a better protection effect than the 1-wt %-coated sample.

  • Objectives : To learn the effects of $CV_{12}\;{\cdot}\;CV_9$ and $LI_4\;{\cdot}\;LI_{11}$ electroacupuncture stimulation on high fat diet induced-obese mouse. Methods : The control group was provided with high fat diet without electroacupuncture stimulation, while the experimental group $CV_{12}\;{\cdot}\;CV_9$ and $LI_4\;{\cdot}\;LI_{11}$ with three frequencies(10Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz) for 5 times a week during five week periods with the high fat diet. We investigated the body weight, weight gain, and food intake. Results : After the electroacupuncture stimulation, a significant loss of increasement in weight was found in the experimental group compared with the high fat diet group. But there was no significant difference made by the change of acupoint combinations and frequencies. After the electroacupuncture stimulation, no significant change was found in the food intakes, but the weight gain a week was decreased compared with high fat diet group. Conclusions : These results suggest that electroacupuncture stimulation on $CV_{12}\;{\cdot}\;CV_9$ and $LI_4\;{\cdot}\;LI_{11}$ might be effective in treatments of obesity to high fat diet.

  • IEEE 802.11 기술이 상용화된 이후 여러 가지 보안에 관련된 취약점들이 드러났다. 이를 보완하기 위하여 802.1li 그룹이 802.11보안 관련 표준안을 제시하였다. 그러나 802.11에서 문제가 되었던 여러 종류의 DoS 공격들 중 몇 개의 공격들은 802.11i에서 아직 유효하다. Deauthe-ntication, Disassociation 메시지를 이용한 공격이 802.1li에서도 유효한 대표적인 공격 중 하나이다. 이 공격은 802.1li에서의 관리 프레임에 802.11과 같은 수준의 데이터 암호화가 적용되기 때문에 가능한 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 취약점을 TKIP를 이용해 제안된 state value를 암호화하여 이를 예상 값과 비교한 후 Deauthentication, Disassociation 공격을 판단하는 메커니즘을 제시 하였다.

The Research and Development Trend of Cathode Materials in Lithium Ion Battery (리튬이차전지용 양극재 개발 동향)

  • The cathode materials for lithium ion battery have been developed in accordance with the battery performance. $LiCoO_2$ initially adapted at lithium ion battery is going to be useful even at the charging voltage of 4.3 V by surface treatment or doping which drastically improved the performance of $LiCoO_2$. On the other hand, the complicate and multiple functions of recent electronic equipments required higher operational voltage and higher capacity than ever, which is going to be driving force for developing new cathode materials. Some of them are $LiNi_{1-x}{M_xO_2}$, $Li[Ni_{x}Mn_{y}Co_{z}]O_{2}$, $Li[{Ni}_{1/2}{Mn}_{1/2}]O_{2}$. Other new type of cathode materials having high safety is also developed to apply for HEV (hybrid electrical vehicle) and power tool applications. ${LiMn}_{2}{O}_{4}$ and $LiFePO_4$ are famous for highly stable material, which are expected to give contribution to make safer battery. In near future, the various materials having both capacity and safety will be developed by new technology, such as solid solution composite.

Assessment of Hot Deformation and Grain Size Distribution in a Udimet 720Li Pancake (Udimet 720Li 합금의 고온변형 및 결정립분포 예측)

  • Hot deformation behavior of Udiment720Li was characterized by compression tests in the temperature range of 10$25^{\circ}C$ to 115$0^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $0.0005 s^{-1};to;5 s^{-1}$. The combination of dynamic material model (DMM) and Ziegler's instability criterion was applied to predict an optimum condition and unstable regions for hot forming. A dynamic recrystallization model coupled with FEM results was used to interpret the evolution of microstructures. In order to verify the reliability of the present coupled model, isothermal forging was performed in the temperature range 1050~115$0^{\circ}C$ at strain rates of $0.05 s^{-1};and;0.005 s^{-1}$. The present model was successfully applied to the hot forming process of Udimet720Li.

Raman Spectroscopic Characterization of a Rod-Coil Liquid Crystalline Oligomer-LiCF₃SO₃ Complex

  • The interactions between a rod-coil liquid crystalline oligomer, ethyl 4-[4'-oxy-4-biphenylcarbonyloxy]-4'-biphenylcarboxylate with poly(ethylene oxide) (DP=12) (12-4) and LiCF3SO3 have been characterized by using Raman spectroscopy. Band assignments were made comparing the spectrum of 12-4 with those of the poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether(PEGME) (Mw=550) and the ethyl-4'-hydroxybiphenyl-4-carboxylate (EHBPC), which are the coil and mesogen analogues, respectively. Analyzing characteristic bands of the 12-4-salt complex, we have found that the bands belonging to the coil and mesogenic units are changed in both intensities and frequencies. The spectral changes were interpreted from the viewpoint of the complexation between 12-4 and the Li+ ion. However, the possibility that the spectral changes in the mesogenic unit are not due to the complexation with the Li+ ion, but due to the conformational changes by the intercalation of nondissociated LiCF3SO3, is not ruled out.

Li+ Extraction Reactions with Ion-exchange type Lithium Manganese Oxide and Their Electronic Structures (이온교환형 리튬망간산화물의 리튬이온 용출특성 및 전자상태)

  • $Li^{+}$ extraction reactions with ion-exchange type lithium manganese oxide in an aqueous phase were examined using chemical and x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. In the process of extraction reaction, the lithium manganese oxide showed a topotactic extraction of $Li^{+ }$ in the aqueous phase mainly through an ion-exchange mechanism, and the $Li^{+}$ extracted samples indicated a high selectivity and a large capacity for $Li^{+}$ . The electronic structures and chemical bonding properties were also studied using a discrete variational (DV)-X$\alpha$ molecular orbital method with cluster model of (Li$Mn_{12}$ $O_{40}$ )$^{27-}$ for tetrahedral sites and ($Li_{7}$ Mn $O_{38}$ )$^{3}$ for octahedral site in $Li_{1.33}$ $Mn_{1.67}$ / $O_{4}$ respectively. Li in the manganese oxides is highly ionized in both sites, but the net charge of Li was greater for tetrahedral sites than octahedral. These calculations suggest that the tetrahedral sites have higher $Li^{+}$ $H^{+}$ exchangeability than the octahedral sites, and are preferable for the selective adsorption for L $i^{+}$ ions.s.

Electrochemical Behaviors of the Surface-Treated Nickel Hydroxide Powder and Electrolyte Additive LiGH for Ni-MH Batteries (니켈수소전지용 수산화니켈 입자의 표면처리와 전해액 첨가제 LiOH의 전기화학적 거동)

  • Single particle of nickel hydroxide and the surface-treated one with cobalt element were performed to review the effect of LiOH additive in alkaline electrolyte for Ni-MH batteries using microelectrode test system. As a result of cyclic voltammetry, the electrochemical behaviors such as the oxidation/reduction and oxygen evolution reaction are clearly observed for a single particle of nickel hydroxide, respectively. Furthermore, the reduction current peak of nickel hydroxide added with LiOH in electrolyte was very low and broad compared with the normal nickel hydroxide without an additive LiOH, which had a bad effect to the crystallization structure of nickel hydroxide. However, it was found that capacity and cycle properties of the nickel hydroxide treated with cobalt greatly increased by the addition of LiOH.
