  • LED(Light Emitting Diode) is an emitting device which energy is same to the bandgap of p-type and n-type semiconductor junction. Recently high brightness LED is used in fish-luring light and traffic signal light alternative of normal light bulb, and widely used in the area of display pannel. Moreover nowadays LED has been used as a back light of LCD display. Recently, visible light communication(VLC) using LED, that allow two-way serial data communication between LEDs over a distance of sveral centimeters or meters, has been widely studied in the area of digital information transmission along with illumination and display. In this paper, we present LED communication system and their applications.

  • Rapid urbanization and advancements in technology have led to a surge in the number of automobiles, resulting in frequent traffic accidents, and consequently, an increase in human casualties and economic losses. Therefore, there is a need for technology that can predict the risk of traffic accidents to prevent them and minimize the damage caused by them. Traffic accidents occur due to various factors including traffic congestion, the traffic environment, and road conditions. These factors give traffic accidents spatiotemporal characteristics. This paper analyzes traffic accident data to understand the main characteristics of traffic accidents and reconstructs the data in a time series format. Additionally, an LSTM-MLP based model that excellently captures spatiotemporal characteristics was developed and utilized for traffic accident prediction. Experiments have proven that the proposed model is more rational and accurate in predicting the risk of traffic accidents compared to existing models. The traffic accident risk prediction model suggested in this paper can be applied to systems capable of real-time monitoring of road conditions and environments, such as navigation systems. It is expected to enhance the safety of road users and minimize the social costs associated with traffic accidents.

  • In this study, we have studied a system to reduce the inconvenience and the accident rate at the intersection when the visually impaired use traffic information by using pressure sensor and ultrasonic sensor. By using the pressure sensor to light the strip LED, the driver recognizes the pedestrian, thereby reducing the accident rate. In addition to the pedestrian signal light information, the ultrasonic sensor and Bluetooth transmit the bus position information to the application so that the user can listen to the voice.

LED(Light Emitting Diode.

  • In this study, we propose a machine vision-based pedestrian signal detection algorithm that operates efficiently even in computing resource-constrained environments. This algorithm demonstrates high efficiency within limited resources and is designed to minimize the impact of ambient lighting by sequentially applying HSV color space-based image processing, binarization, morphological operations, labeling, and other steps to address issues such as light glare. Particularly, this algorithm is structured in a relatively simple form to ensure smooth operation within embedded system environments, considering the limitations of computing resources. Consequently, it possesses a structure that operates reliably even in environments with low computing resources. Moreover, the proposed pedestrian signal system not only includes pedestrian signal detection capabilities but also incorporates IoT functionality, allowing wireless integration with a web server. This integration enables users to conveniently monitor and control the status of the signal system through the web server. Additionally, successful implementation has been achieved for effectively controlling 50W LED pedestrian signals. This proposed system aims to provide a rapid and efficient pedestrian signal detection and control system within resource-constrained environments, contemplating its potential applicability in real-world road scenarios. Anticipated contributions include fostering the establishment of safer and more intelligent traffic systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a vibration notification system that combines navigation information and wearable bands to ensure safe driving for the transportation vulnerable. This system transmits navigation driving information to a linked application, converts it into a vibration signal, and provides notifications through a wearable band. Existing navigation systems focus on providing route guidance and location information, so the driver's concentration is dispersed, and safety and convenience are deteriorated, especially for those with mobility impairments, due to standard vision and delayed recognition of stimuli, resulting in an increasingly high traffic accident rate. To solve this problem, navigation driving information is converted into vibration signals through a linked application, and vibration notifications for events, left turns, right turns, and speeding are provided through a wearable band to ensure driver safety and convenience. In the future, we will use cameras and vehicle sensors to increase awareness of safety inside and outside the vehicle by adding a function that provides notifications with vibration and LED when the vehicle approaches or recognizes an object, and we will continue to conduct research to build a safer driving environment. plan.
