Design and Implementation of Wireless Lighting LED Controller using Modbus TCP for a Ship (Modbus TCP를 이용한 선박용 무선 LED 제어기의 설계 및 구현)

  • As a serial communications protocol, Modbus has become a practically standard communication protocol and is now a commonly available means of connecting industrial electronic devices. Therefore, all devices can be connected using the Modbus protocol with the measurement and remote control on ships, buildings, trains, airplanes and more. The existing Modbus that has been used is based on serial communication. Modbus TCP uses Ethernet communication based on TCP / IP which is the most widely used Internet protocol today; so, it is faster than serial communication and can be connected to the Internet of Things. In this paper, we designed an algorithm to control LED lighting in a wireless Wi-Fi environment using the Modbus TCP communication protocol, and designed and implemented a LED controller circuit that can check external environmental factors and control remotely through the integrated management system of a ship. Temperature, humidity, current and illuminance values, which are external environmental factors, are received by the controller through the sensors, and these values are communicated to the ship's integrated management system via the Modbus protocol. The Modbus can be connected to Master devices via TCP communication to monitor temperature, humidity, current, illuminance status and LED output values, and also users can change the RGB value remotely in order to change to the desired color. In addition, in order to confirm the implementation of the controller, we developed a simulated ship management system to monitor the temperature, humidity, current and illumination conditions, and change the LED color of the controller by changing the RGB value remotely.

  • As the age of smart device has come, recently many application services related to smart phone are developing. The LBS(Location Based Service) technique is considered as one of the most important techniques to support location based application services. Usually the smart phone acquires the information of position by using the position recognition systems and sensors such as GPS(Global Positioning System) and G-Sensor. However, since the GPS signal from the satellite can hardly be received in the indoor environments, new LBS techniques for the indoor environment are required. In this paper, to solve the problem a position information transceiver using LED lights and smart phone camera sensor is proposed. We proved the possibility of the proposed positioning system through the experiments in the laboratory for the practical verification.

  • This paper proposes the smart emotion lighting control system of a mobile-based. The proposed smart emotional lighting control system to reduce the emotional lighting device, internal heat and the power consumption was configured to the android platform mobile device and zigbee module, emotional lighting device, lighting control module, power supply, and general-purpose transistor. The mobile device was to transmit the real-time control information to the emotional lighting device when connected to the system, and it was designed to control the emotion lighting device based on the control messages and status monitoring. In this paper, the efficiency verification results of the proposed smart emotional lighting control system showed that it was possible to control by emotion lighting control and the color temperature variable. The heating value and the power consumption could be reduced by21% and up to 48%, because of the controlled lighting using emotion language.

  • In recent years, electric shock accidents due to electric leakage currents of household appliances such as computers, TVs, refrigerators, and LED lights are continuously occurring in homes and industrial buildings. And it is not easy to check the leakage current of each household appliances connected in parallel at the rear end of the module. In addition, the leakage current flowing through the path of the normal current other than the existing current leakage circuit breakers are installed in the distribution box, only the function to cut off the power when the leakage. Therefore, there are various disasters such as electric shock and fire caused by short circuit of household appliances, and the risk of such leakage current is seriously presented. In this paper, we propose a method to implement a leakage monitoring system that can be monitored at all times using Zigbee communication based on IEEE 80215.4, which has advantages in low power and low cost among short range wireless communication systems.

  • In this paper, a sensor network system for providing u-health services is suggested and is implemented. It steadily collects biological data of resident people and automatically detects emergency situations. LEID (Lighting Embedded Information Device) nodes are the most essential component of the sensor network. They embed sensor network technology into lightening devices which are indispensable to most living spaces. To verify practicality of the proposed u-health system, a prototypical system is realized in the Smart Home Industrialization Support Center at Kookmin University, and is tested within many practical circumstances. The proposed u-health system can be used at various places where many patients are continuously cared.

  • With the aim of developing a smartphone-based point-of-care device that is small, inexpensive, and easy to handle by non-expert, we designed a fluorescence smartscope for counting particles and a DC motor-controlled particle positioning system. Our smartscope can count the number of fluorescent particles and fluorescently-stained white blood cells through a phone camera with an adaptor containing a LED, a ball lens and optical filters and an application running on a smartphone. The motor was controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth with an Android smartphone. We found that axial spinning of a helical microfluidic channel allows arrangement of particles having size similar to the white blood cells. The motor-controlled particle positioning system can minimize time-consuming manual processes and automate sample preparation process and thus, if integrated with the smartscope, it can be used for a point-of-care testing device based on a smartphone.

  • 최근 그린에너지 시대의 급작스런 도래와 더불어 전력산업의 패러다임 변화에 따라 전기에너지의 고효율 사용과 지능형 전력망 기술인 스마트그리드가 국가차원의 저탄소 녹색성장의 중추 산업분야가 될 전망이다. 이와 더불어 그린홈, 그린빌딩, 그린ICT, 신재생에너지 및 전기자동차를 망라하는 고효율 에너지 네트워크 인프라로 직류배전이 부각되고 있다. 최근 태양광, 연료전지 등 직류 기반의 분산전원 보급의 활성화, 정보화 확산으로 인해 직류를 필요로 하는 정보통신기기의 대폭확대, 전기자동차 보급에 따른 전력저장장치의 확산, LED와 같은 조명부하의 확대 등 변화된 환경 속에 전체 시스템 에너지 효율화, 전력품질의 개선을 위해 교류(AC)가 아닌 직류(DC)로 공급하는 직류배전의 도입 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본고에서는 미래 직류전력시스템의 예측 및 당사가 2009년 말 그린홈에 직류배전을 구축한 실증사례를 소개하고 현재 조기 상용화를 목표로 기술개발을 진행 중인 그린빌딩 적용을 위한 저압 직류배전기술의 개념 및 구현기술을 제안하고자 한다.

  • '2009 대한민국 녹색에너지대전'이 지식경제부 주최, 에너지관리공단 주관으로 지난 10월 13일 서울 삼성동 코엑스(A홀 옛 태평양홀)에서 개최되었다. 올해로 제29회를 맞이한 대한민국 녹색에너지대전은 중국 호주 독일 일본 등 총 12개국에서 145개 업체가 참여하여 국내외 고효율 기기 및 최신 에너지 절감 기술, 신재생 에너지 설비 등을 한자리에 선보였다. 올해에는 '신재생에너지관' 등 4개의 대주제관과 'LED 고효율 조명관' 등 국가 신성장동력을 상징하는 4개의 특별테마관을 중심으로 총 587개 부스 규모로 구성됐다. 특히 이번 전시회에는 정부가 강력히 추진하는 녹색성장정책에 관심이 고조되면서 LG전자, 삼성전자를 비롯해 효성, 현대중공업, LS산전 등 대기업이 대거 참가, 에너지효율 및 온실가스 저감 관련 최신 기술을 선보였다. 이번 전시회에서는 효과적인 에너지절약 방법을 찾는 관람객들과 국내외 최신 에너지 기술 도입을 원하는 산업체 임직원, 신재생에너지 및 기후변화대응 분야 신규 사업에 관심 있는 투자자 등 전시장을 찾는 모두에게 유익한 정보를 제공하는 뜻깊은 국제적인 행사가 되었다.

  • 최근 가정이나 산업용 건물에서 컴퓨터, TV, LED 조명 등 제품 내에서 직류를 사용하는 부하가 증가함에 따라 직류배전 도입에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 직류배전을 통해 가전기기 내부의 전력변환단계를 줄임으로써 에너지 효율을 높일 수 있다. 또한, 직류기반의 태양광발전, 배터리 등의 배전 연계가 용이해진다. 하지만 직류배전의 도입을 위해서는 안전성을 위한 직류 배전용 누전차단기, 배전용 차단기의 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 상용 교류용 누전차단기의 직류배전 적용 가능성을 알아보고 직류배전에서의 누전차단기 동작특성을 분석한다.

Indoor Location-based Emergency Call Service System for Ships using VLC Technology (가시광통신을 이용한 선박 내 위치 기반 응급호출 시스템)

  • Due to metallicity of materials, a vessel has a limitation to adopt RF-based wireless communication technologies for the inner communication means. Visible Light Communication(VLC) can be a sound alternative to dissolve such a limitation. Using a visual light as a transmission medium, VLC is free from radio interferences and restriction of radio usages which are typically related to RF-based wireless communications. In addition, VLC can not only require the facility cost relatively low because of being possibly converged with existing LED illumination, but also be harmless to the human body. This paper proposes an indoor location-based emergency call service system solution for ships using the VLC technology that supports 256Kbps data rate and 5m transmission distance. This paper presents real implementation and testing results of the solution which verifies the propriety of the proposal.
