A Robust LDAP Server Using Group Communication (그룹통신을 이용한 견고한 LDAP 서버)

  • LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) Directory Service provides information for locating resources like files and devices over the network such as Internet or Intranet. Since LDAP is widely accepted as one of the standard directory service structure for the Internet, it is desirable that a group of LDAP servers works transparently and continuously even if the related network partitions temporally, through maintaining replicated directory information among those LDAP servers. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a robust LDAP sewer, which runs as a process group in JACE group communication system, and the associated LDAP service provider which enables Java applications to use the developed LDAP directory service.

  • For high performance Grid environments, an efficient GIS(Grid Information Service is required In the Metacomputing Directory Service(MDS) of the Glogus middleware, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol(LDAP), which is a distributed directory service protocol, is used. The LDAP GIS differs from general purpose LDAP directories in that most of the LDAP operations are write in Grid environments. To get an efficient design of the GIS, it is thus required to analyze the performance of the LDAP system in the context of Grid environments. This paper presents the result of a performance analysis of LDAP systems. The main objective of the evaluation is to see the performance scalability of the LDAP system in the Grid environment where the write operations prevails. Based on these results, we suggest directions of an efficient LDAP-based GIS for a high performance Grid.

  • Recently, as the number of entities participating in the Grid system increased, the response time of LDAP system became inadequate. Consequently, we have to design new LDAP that suitable for high performance Grid environments. For this, researches about analysis of performance LDAP system are needed firstly. However, because researches are focused mostly on read operation optimized environments, so these result of researches are not directly applied to high performance Grid environments that write operation occupies most. In this paper, we provide overall results of analysis of performance of LDAP system with respect to number of node, query arrival rate, probability of read and so on. The analysis is based on in analytic performance model by applying the M/M/1 queuing model. Finally, based on the results, we suggest the direction for the design of high performance LDAP system and this research results can be applied as basic materials to design of GIS in high performance Grid environments as well as.

  • Many companies and departments are increasingly concerned of searching their business information in correct and faster way as they share the information through the internet. LDAP has been proposed for directory server standards which supports storing, searching and managing the business information, and it has become a global standard. Current LDAP, however, cannot solve problem; such as server overloads and data synchronization. This paper describes the history and characteristics of LDAP, and proposes an architecture for solving those problem;. Since the proposed architecture is designed based on the existing LDAP architecture, it guarantees extensibility and portability of server configuration.

  • LDAP 디렉토리(Directory) 서비스는 인터넷이나 인트라넷 등 네트워크 상에 있는 파일이나 장치들과 같은 자원 등의 위치를 찾을 수 있도록 정보를 제공한다. 따라서 다수의 LDAP 서버들 사이에 디렉토리 정보를 중복하여 유지함으로써 특정 서버와의 네트워크 단절(partition)과 같은 결함이 발생되는 상황에서도 투명하고 지속적으로 서비스를 제공하는 것이 바람직하다. 본 논문에서는 JACE 그룹통신 시스템을 이용하여 프로세스 그룹으로 동작하는 LDAP 서버와 자바 응용프로그램에서 서비스를 사용할 수 있도록 그룹 통신을 이용하여 LDAP 서비스 프로바이더를 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • In this paper, we introduce an implementation of Student-Information System using LDAP(lightweight directory access protocol) service. We defined new attributes for student-information, and then defined new objectClass 'myStudent'. We implemented the system on the OpenLDAP 2.x and PHP 4.3.x.

  • 본 논문은 LDAP 클라이언트와 서버사이에서의 상호운용성 시험을 위한 시험도구 구현에 대한 것이다. 여러 벤더에 의해 구현된 LDAP 제품들을 업무에 적응하기 위해서는 상호간의 접속 운용이 가능한지를 시험하기 위한 것으로 표준적합성 시험과 함께 상호운용성 시험이 선행 되어야 한다. 이러한 시험을 위한 시험도구로 이미 구현된 것이 있으나, 이들은 OS 에 따른 설치 시 제약조건이 많으며, 시험 실행방법의 어려움과, 시험 시 시험항목 및 LDAP 서버에 저장된 데이터가 한정되어 불편한 점이 있다. 이를 보완하기 위해 BLITS를 기반으로 한 OS의 제약이 적고, 사용자가 시험 항목을 수정 가능한 시험도구를 구현하였다. 구현한 시험도구의 타당성 검증을 위해 두 개의 LDAP 서버를 대상으로 하여 실제 상호운용성 시험을 수행 하였다. 시험 결과 203.241.249.185 의 주소를 가지는 서버는 선정된 시험항목과 사용자가 정의한 시험에 대해 모두 정상적인 시험결과를 출력하였으며 www.openldap.com 주소를 가지는 서버는 관리자 권한이 필요치 않은 항목에 대해서는 정상적인 시험결과를 출력하여 구현한 시험도구가 정상적으로 동작함을 확인하였다.

  • The testing tools implemented up to now for the LDAP(Light-weight Directory Access Protocol) interoperability tests are not easy to modify or add new test items since their source codes are not open. The object-oriented approach, therefore, is required to implement such a testing tool which can be easily modified or add new test items. Thus we designed the architecture for the testing tool applying the object-oriented approach. Java language, appropriate for the object-oriented approach, was used to implement the testing tool. The newly implemented testing tool can modify partly to adapt to the already stored data in the test suite information even during tests. Five LDAP servers can be tested simultaneously with the same configuration setup. Actual testing for the two LDAP servers validates the usefulness of the designed architecture with the proper working of the implemented testing tool according to the architecture.
