Analyzing the correlation between urban forestry and surface temperature using Landsat TM data

  • In this study, the correlation between the heat island effect and the vegetation in Deagu Korea was performed through using Landsat TM data. the island effect, presents high temperature on air like island, is connected with correlation between the surface temperature and the temperature on the air. In this study, surface temperature was analyzed by detecting the change of urban forestry with remote sensing using the vegetation vitality statistics reference (ratio change of the Park greens in Daegu) the heat island effect not only brings the environment pollution but also brings serious problem such as the destruction of ecosystem to city as a whole. Jeff Luvall has studied to restrain the heat island effect by making urban forestry. Even though Daegu had been the serious high temperature urban area the current temperature of Daegu has been dropped. The correlation between the heat island effect and the vegetation index was analyzed by using satellite images.

  • The coastal provinces of South China have been uniquely shaped by various tectonic events. During the midlate Mesozoic tectono-thermal event, the oblique subduction of the Paleo Kula-Pacific plate beneath the Eurasian plate has created a complicated tectonic setting for the whole region. However, the mechanism of this event is not completely understood. In this paper, we discuss the advantages of using LANDSAT TM satellite imagery over a small part of the region - the Mirs Bay Basin which is largely covered by dense vegetation and where limited outcrops is seen. The use of satellite imagery complements field mapping and the result shows a prominent sinistral offset along the eastern margin of the Mirs Bay Basin, which was not previously recognized on the ground.

  • The KITSAT-3, launched on May 26th of 1999, is equiped with a high-resolution earth-watch sensor that has spectral bands similar to that of the SPOT. In this paper, the primary discussion is on Investigation of possible application of images acquired from this sensor The secondary discussion is on the comparison of the images with those of Landsat TM and SPOT.

  • Water pollution is becoming a serious problem in the populous cities and coastal areas near industrial complex. Sometimes, phytoplankton is considered as the most important element in the coastal environment. Phytoplankton is easily estimated by measuring chlorophyll content in the laboratory. In this study, to build up estimating algorithm of the chlorophyll amount related to the monitoring of coastal environments in Kwangyang bay, the correlationship the respective in situ observed data with Landsat TM and SeaWiFS satellite Image was analyzed. It showed that Landsat TM band 3 image has the highest correlationship with observed data, and based upon this result the monitoring algorithm of chlorophyll in coastal area was extracted. This algorithm will be an important for extracting and controlling environment elements in coastal areas in the future. And it has a significant meaning that it has established a spatial data construction in which satellite image alone could monitor the coastal environment.

  • In this study, we extracted several terrain information using satellite and aerial images. We detected change of terrain using Landsat Thematic Mapper(TM) and aerial images which are multitemporal data. In change detection processing, we first classified satellite images by ISODATA algorithm which is an unsupervised learning algorithm, then performed change detection. By this method, we could obtain good result. Also we introduce sub-pixel concept to classify road and agriculture area in inaccessible area. In summary, in chang detection processing, we can find that the used method is efficient.

  • In this study the micro landform of tide flat in west Seohan bay. North Korea was classified and the change of this environment was detected by using Landsat TM. FTM+, KOMPAST. For this. ISODATA method of the unsupervised methods was used to classify the micro landform while tasseled cap method was used to detect the change of environment in west Seohan bay, North Korea by passing years. This study shows the possibility that the topography analysis and change especially in unapproachable area could be detected and monitored by using satellite images.

  • A thematic land cover map of Pusan port area was developed using Landsat satellite TM(Thematic Mapper) image. Two types of digital data which are road and sea water layer are extracted from existing paper map were overlayed over the developed land cover map. SPIN-2(KNR-1000) image was utilized to make a facility map of JaSungDae port. SPIN-2 image, which has a cell resolution of 1.56 m showed higer accuracy than TM image, which has a cell resolution of 30 m for facility mapping. Overall, the techniques of digital mapping using satellite image are very useful, effective and efficient.

  • 토지피복의 분류는 토지표면의 물리적인 지표면의 상태를 나타내는 자료로 환경, 행정, 수자원, 재해 등 다방면으로 이용되고 있다. 특히 수자원과 관련하여 식생의 증산과 토양의 증발을 통칭하는 증발산과 유출, 토양수분 등과 연관되어 있다. 광범위한 토지피복의 산정에는 경제성 및 주기성 등의 장점으로 인하여 인공위성 영상을 이용하는 기법이 적합하다. 위성영상분류법은 훈련지역의 선정 여부에 따라 감독분류와 무감독 분류로 나누어지며 각각의 알고리즘의 특성에 따라 더욱 세분화된다. 본 연구에서는 Landsat-TM (Thematic Mapper) 영상을 이용하여 감독 분류와 무감독 분류를 각각 적용하여 한강유역의 토지피복을 수역, 시가, 나지 습지, 초지, 산림, 농지의 7가지 부분으로 대분류로 산정하고 비교하였다. 두 경우의 정확도는 각각 91.6%, 90.9%의 비슷한 정확도를 나타내었으며, 세부적으로 우리나라의 대부분의 면적에 분포하는 산림, 농지, 시가, 수역의 정확도가 높게 나타났다. 또한 각 항목별로 정확도를 비교하였을 때 감독분류가 무감독분류에 비해 다소 정확한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 추후 외부자료를 도입하면 비교적 낮은 정확도를 나타낸 초지, 습지, 나지의 정확도를 보완할 수 있을 것이다.

  • In this paper, we propose features extraction method using Rough sets theory for efficient data classifications in hyperspectral environment. First, analyze the properties of multispectral image data, then select the most efficient bands using discemibility of Rough sets theory based on analysis results. The proposed method is applied Landsat TM image data, from this, we verify the equivalence of traditional bands selection method by band features and bands selection method using Rough sets theory that pmposed in this paper. Finally, we present theoretical basis to features extraction in hyperspectral environment.

  • 최근 인공위성 영상자료는 주기적인 획득 시기를 가지고 있고 수치 지형도에 비해 쉽게 인지할 수 있기 때문에 지형변화 모니터링 분야에서 활발하게 이용되고 있다 그러나 인공위성 영상자료들은 촬영조건 및 센서의 특성에 따라 다른 기하학적인 왜곡을 포함하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 공간, 방사 및 분광 해상도가 상이하기 때문에 정밀한 분석 결과 산출에 어려움이 있다. 즉, 두 개 이상의 영상을 비교 분석하기 위해 기본적인 센서 정보의 차이에서 발생하는 정오차를 소거하고 지형기복에 의해 발생하는 부정오차를 제거하기 위한 정밀 기하보정은 반드시 선행되어야 한다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 공간해상도가 다르기 때문에 발생하는 정오차 및 부정오차를 제거하기 위해 정밀정합을 실시하였다. 정밀 정합된 kompsat EOC 및 Landsat TM 영상으로 토지피복 변화를 탐지함으로써 위치정확도가 높은 탐지결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 정확한 위치정보를 가지는 탐지 결과는 지형지물의 갱신이나 다양한 GIS 응용의 기본자료로서 사용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
