Purpose Assessment of Serum Thyroglobulin (sTg) value in total thyroidectomy patients having an ablation dose of radioactive iodine indicates remaining cancer or metastasis. Especially, sTg in patients on withdrawal thyroxine or thyrogen administration for radioiodine ablation is an important indicator to determine the direction of further treatment and prognosis. Current guidelines suggest measurement of sTg is performed at 72 hours after the last injection of thyrogen. and assumes that sTg reaches maximum serum levels at that time. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the variation of sTg measured after thyrogen administration. Materials and Methods We compared with sTg performed at 24hours(D0) and 72hours(D2) after the last injection of thyrogen. We reviewed D0 and D2 from 276 patients were divided them into three groups according to ablation dose of radioactive iodine, 5mCi(A group), 30~80mCi(B group) and 100~200mCi(C group). We used T-test for comparison between D0 and D2. sTg was measured in serum using immunoradiometric assay (Tg-plus RIA; BRAHMS, Berlin, Germany). Results There is no critical variation between D0 and D2 in A group(n=100)(P=0.32), The case of increase(D2>D0) is 45, no change(D2=D0) is 23, decrease(D2D0 is 91, D2=D0 is 28, D2D0 is 19, D2=D0 is 2. The biggest increase is 143.6 ng/mL from 98.4 to 242. Conclusion There was a significant difference in the group over 30mCi. and the case of D2>D0 is 45%, 58.7%, 90.5% for each group. therefore, D2 increased as the dose of radioactive iodine increased. Furthermore, the most sTg values of D0 and D2 are variation under 2.0 ng/mL, so reproducibility as well as sensitivity of sTg will be important at values below 2ng/mL.

A 15-year-old girl underwent successful surgical correction of double-outlet right ventricle [S.D.L.] subaortic ventricular septal defect, patent foramen ovale, and pulmonary hypoplasia with valvular stenosis. The operation consisted of an internal baffling connecting the left ventricle to the aorta through the ventricular septal defect. The pulmonary stenosis was corrected with the method of connection the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery bifurcation using the Hancock valve[18mm] contained conduit. This rare type of DORV seemed to be suitable for corrective surgery, and the patient`s condition is very good until present time (post operative 7 months).

The presence of L-malic acid in culture media contaniing glucose stimulated the growth rates of Leuconostoc oenos strains. The L-malic acid also stimulated the synthesis and activity of D-malate dehydrogenase (D-LDH) resulting in rapid production of D-lactate from glucose. The rapid utilization of glucose under the presence of L-malic acid may explain, in part, the stimulatory effect of the compound on the growth rate of leuconostocs.

La $d\'{e}marche$ et l'objet de cette recherche sont d'analyser, psychiquement, $th\'{e}oriquement$, les marques de $l'intersexualit\'{e}$ $pr\'{e}sentent$ en Orient et les $\'{e}l\'{e}ments$ intersexuels, binaires dans le $v\hat{e}tement$, et $\'{e}galement$ de comprendre $l'ambiguit\'{e}$ ou encore la fusion des $identit\'{e}s$ $sexu\'{e}es$, qui $pr\'{e}sente$ symboliquement a travers le $v\hat{e}tement$, dans la $soci\'{e}t\'{e}$ moderne. La base fondamentale dans la $th\'{e}orie$ de l'Orient est que l'univers se divise en Yin ($caract\`{e}re\;f\'{e}minin$) et Yang ($caract\`{e}re$ masculin) et que tout individu $poss\`{e}de$ $\'{e}galement$ ce couple, en quelque sorte un intersexuel qui s'ignore, avec des variations selon l'individu. En $d\'{e}finitive$, les compositions doubles des $\'{e}l\'{e}ments$ dans le $v\hat{e}tement$ oriental montraient $embl\'{e}matiquement$ nos $qualit\'{e}s$ doubles, masculins et $f\'{e}minins$, et les trois $\'{e}l\'{e}ments$ semblent primordiaux pour $l'\'{e}lucidation$ de la $pr\'{e}disposition$ du porteur : la couleur du tissu, sa forme et la texture du $v\hat{e}tement$. La mode d'auiourd'hui oscille entre masculin et $f\hat{e}minin$. Cette fusion de la mode semble le reflet d'une tendance intersexuelle et d'une fusion du genre. Ainsi, cette recherche est, $\grave{a}$ travers $l'\'{e}l\'{e}ment$ masculin ou $f\'{e}minin$ des $v\hat{e}tements$, pour tenter de discerner lesprit, l'intention et le $caract\`{e}re$ sexuel dominant du porteur.

Cellulosic biomass is a renewable source for biofuel production from non-edible biomass. An optimized pretreatment process is required for the efficient utilization of cellulosic biomass. Among various pretreatment processes, the use of ionic liquids has been reported recently. However, the residual ionic liquid after pretreatment acts as an inhibitor of microbial fermentation. Recently, we isolated mutant Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains resistant to the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([EMIM][Ac]) by using a directed evolutionary approach. When 3% [EMIM][Ac] was added to a medium containing 80 g/l of glucose, mutants D452-B2 and D452-S3 produced 35.6 g/l and 36.3 g/l of ethanol, respectively, for 18 h while the parental strain (S. cerevisiae D452-2) produced 1.3 g/l of ethanol. Thus, these mutant S. cerevisiae strains might prove advantageous when ionic liquids are used for biofuel production from cellulosic biomass.

This study was carried out to investigate the distribution and characteristics of Listeria monocytogenes isolated from frozen Mandoo and pizza in 1998. A total 72 samples were examined and USDA, FDA and modified cold enrichment methods were used for the detection of Listeria spp. Overall prevalence of L. monocytogenes in frozen foods was 9.7% and L. monocytogenes was isolated from 11.1% of frozen Mandoo and 5.6% of frozen pizza. The highest detection rate of Listeria spp. in frozen Mandoo was found at USDA method and the serotype of L. monocytogenes isolates was 4. Isolated L. monocytogenes was confirmed by PCR method with Hly 1 and 2 as primers. It would be necessary to develop more rapid and specific method to isolate and confirm L. monocytogenes from foods because USDA and PCR methods used in this study took 3-4 days. D value of L. monocytogenes isolate in tryptic soy broth was 49.2 sec at $60^{\circ}C$ and 8.8 sec $at\;65^{\circ}C$, and D value of L. monocytogenes in foods with high distribution rate of Listeria spp. would be necessary to evaluate for the safe use of frozen foods.

The effects of temperature, photon irradiance, and photoperiod on the growth of Sargassum horneri embryos were examined for female plants collected at Chokpo in Tongyeoung, Gyeongnam Prefecture, Korea on 27 December 2011. Mature plant receptacles were detached, and fertilized eggs were cultured in the laboratory at temperatures of $5-25^{\circ}C$ with photon irradiances of $10-80{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ under 14L:10D and 10L:14D photoperiods. Germination and embryo growth were rapid at $20-25^{\circ}C$ and $40{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ under 14L:10D. The number of rhizoids in the germinated young thalli was high at high photon irradiances ($40-80{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$) and $15-20^{\circ}C$. At $20^{\circ}C$ and 14L:10D, vigorous growth of main and lateral branches was observed; however, at $5^{\circ}C$ under both photoperiods, plant growth decreased markedly. In the present study, S. horneri grew well at high temperatures ($20-25^{\circ}C$) and high photon irradiances ($40-80{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$) with a 14L:10D photoperiod.
