To study the possible use of probiotics in fish farming, The in vitro and in vivo antibacterial effects of Pseudomonas aeruginosa MB I-3 (MB I-3) against the fish pathogenic bacterium Listonella anguillarum were evaluated. The inhibitory effects of MB I-3 against vibrios were investigated by the double layer method and the co-culture. The results showed that MB I-3 inhibited the growth of pathogenic vibrios including Listonella anguillarum, Vibrio alginolyticus, Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio fluvialis, Vibrio furnissii, Vibrio harveyi, Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio vulnificus. Extracellular substances obtained from the cultural supernatant of MB I-3 by ethyl acetate extraction showed inhibitory effects on L. anguillarum. The antibacterial substance of MB I-3 was evaluated to destroy the cell membrane of L. anguillarum in electron micrographs. The probiotic effects of MB I-3 was tested by exposing olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) fry to L. anguillarum with or without MB I-3. The cumulative mortality of olive flounder fry infected with L. anguillarum was 24% in the group with MB I-3, while it was 46% in the control group without MB I-3. These results indicate that MB I-3 has potential applications as a probiotic for the control of fish pathogenic vibrios in fish rearing system.

Objective : The meridian and the acupuncture point of oriental medicine are very important in the department of acupuncture and moxibustion. Recently, we needed to study on the phenomenon of the meridian and acupuncture point with objective data. And then, I made a study of effects on the thermal changes of Five-shu-points(五輸穴) of the Lung meridian with acupuncture on Taeyon($L_9$, 太淵), using Digital infrared thermal imaging(D.I.T.I). Method : This study researched into clinical statistics for 60 men who are in good health. The objective was divided into two groups, one was the control group(CON, N=30) and the other was acupuncture group(ACU, N=30). The first, I took a picture for 60 men with the Digital infrared thermal imaging(D.I.T.I.). After 10 minutes, I took a second picture for each group following experimental methods. Results : I. The Mean temperature of Sasang($L_{11}$), Oje($L_{10}$), Taeyon($L_9$), Kyonggo($L_8$), Choldaek($L_5$) and Taenung($P_7$) area in adult men with good health, made a no significant difference with left and right side points. 2. Acupuncture group with acupuncture stimularion on Taeyon($L_9$) had a effect on much thermal changes of Sasang($L_{11}$), Oje($L_{10}$), Taeyon($L_9$), Kyonggo($L_8$) and Choldaek($L_5$) than control group. The thermal changes of the area which is a meridian point in the Lung Meridian of acupuncture group differed from control group with significant decrease and increase following the decreasing or increasing temperature class. Each class of ascent and descent thermal change was statistically significant value compared with control group. 3. Acupuncture group with acupuncture stimulation on Taeyon($L_9$) had not a effect on thermal changes of Taenung($P_7$) area than control group. And the increasing and decreasing temperature class of the acupuncture group did not significantly differ from control group. Conclusion : I could think that the acupuncture on Taeyon($L_9$) affected the thermal change of the area which is the Five-shu-points in the Lung Meridian. And then I could relate these results with the existence of the meridian and acupuncture point.

Background: Ginsenoside Rd (GSRd), one of the most abundant ingredients of Panax ginseng, protects the heart via multiple mechanisms including the inhibition of $Ca^{2+}$ influx.We intended to explore the effects of GSRd on L-type $Ca^{2+}$ current ($I_{Ca,L}$) and define the mechanism of the suppression of $I_{Ca,L}$ by GSRd. Methods: Perforated-patch recording and whole-cell voltage clamp techniques were applied in isolated rat ventricular myocytes. Results: (1) GSRd reduced $I_{Ca,L}$ peak amplitude in a concentration-dependent manner [half-maximal inhibitory concentration $(IC_{50})=32.4{\pm}7.1{\mu}mol/L$] and up-shifted the current-voltage (I-V) curve. (2) GSRd ($30{\mu}mol/L$) significantly changed the steady-state activation curve of $I_{Ca,L}$ ($V_{0.5}:-19.12{\pm}0.68$ vs. $-6.26{\pm}0.38mV$; n = 5, p < 0.05) and slowed down the recovery of $I_{Ca,L}$ from inactivation [the time content (${\zeta}$) from 91 ms to 136 ms, n = 5, p < 0.01]. (3) A more significant inhibitive effect of GSRd ($100{\mu}mol/L$) was identified in perforated-patch recording when compared with whole-cell recording [$65.7{\pm}3.2%$ (n = 10) vs. $31.4{\pm}5.2%$ (n = 5), p < 0.01]. (4) Pertussis toxin ($G_i$ protein inhibitor) completely abolished the $I_{Ca,L}$ inhibition induced by GSRd. There was a significant difference in inhibition potency between the two cyclic adenosine monophosphate elevating agents (isoprenaline and forskolin) prestimulation [$55{\pm}7.8%$ (n = 5) vs. $17.2{\pm}3.5%$ (n = 5), p < 0.01]. (5) 1H-[1,2,4]Oxadiazolo[4,3-a]-quinoxalin-1-one (a guanylate cyclase inhibitor) and N-acetyl-$\small{L}$-cysteine (a nitric oxide scavenger) partly recovered the $I_{Ca,L}$ inhibition induced by GSRd. (6) Phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (a protein kinase C activator) and GF109203X (a protein kinase C inhibitor) did not contribute to the inhibition of GSRd. Conclusion: These findings suggest that GSRd could inhibit $I_{Ca,L}$ through pertussis toxin-sensitive G protein ($G_i$) and a nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate-dependent mechanism.

As an application of GPS is increased by world geodetic system introduction gradually, in this time, It is increased necessary of GPS baseline analysis program development. In this study, I developed a baseline analysis program by L1/L2 carrier. And I compared a baseline analysis result with a commercial program. I showed precision of approximately ${\pm}$1cm in a baseline length in case of Narrow lane as a result that a baseline analysised a developed program.

Recently, l-deprenyl (selegiline), a relative new antiparkinson`s drug, has been marketed in Korea. As its metabolites, l-methamphetamine and l-amphetamine, are the enantiomers of illicit drugs,d-methamphetamine and d-amphetamine, a method for analysis of enantiomers of methamphetamine and amphetamine in rat urine was investigated. The optical isomers of methamphetamine and amphetamine were analyzed with the chiral derivatizing reagent (S)-(-)-N-(trifluoroacetyl)-prolyl chloride (l-TFP), which was used to form the diastereomers of methamphetamine and amphetamine. And all diastereomers (l-TFP -l-AM, lTFP-d-AM, l-TFP-l-MA & l-TFP-d-MA) were well resolved by capillary gas chromatography. After administration of 10mg/kg l-deprenyl to rat, l-methamphetamine and l-amphetamine were detected without autoracemization to the d form in all urine samples collected during 24hrs, and the ratios of l-amphetamine/l-methamphetamine were 1.1~3.3. l-Amphetamine was detected in only 3 out of 8 urine samples collected during 24~48hrs where as no l-methamphetamine was detected in all cases.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how Korean learners perceive English vowels and further to test SLM which claims that new L2 vowel categories are more easily acquired than similar L2 vowel categories. Twenty Korean learners participated in English-to-Korean mapping test and English vowel identification test with target vowels /i, ɪ, u, ʊ, ɛ, æ/. The result revealed that Korean participants mapped the English pairs /i/-/ɪ/ and /u/-/ʊ/ onto single Korean vowel /i/ and /u/, respectively. in addition, both of English /ɛ/ and /æ/ were simultaneously mapped onto Korean /e/ and /ɛ/. This indicated that the Korean participants seemed to have perceptual difficulty for the pairs /i-ɪ/, /u-ʊ/, and /ɛ-æ/. The result of the forced-choice identification test showed that the accuracy of /ɪ, ʊ, æ/(ɪ: 81.3%, ʊ: 62.5%, æ: 60.0%) was significantly higher than that of /i, u, ɛ/(i: 28,8%, u: 28.8%, ɛ: 32.4%). Thus, the claim of SLM is confirmed given that /ɪ, ʊ, æ/ are new vowel categories whereas /i, u, ɛ/ are similar vowel categories. Further, the conspicuously low accuracy of the similar L2 vowel categories /i, u, ɛ/ was accounted for by over-generalization whereby the Korean participants excessively replaced L2 similar /i, u, ɛ/ with L2 new /ɪ, ʊ, æ/ as the participants were learning the L2 new vowel categories in the process of acquisition. Based on the findings this study, pedagogical suggestions are provided.

The intersection of all two-sided ideals of an ordered semigroup, if it is non-empty, is called the kernel of the ordered semigroup. A left ideal L of an ordered semigroup ($S,{\cdot},{\leq}$) having a kernel I is said to be simple if I is properly contained in L and for any left ideal L' of ($S,{\cdot},{\leq}$), I is properly contained in L' and L' is contained in L imply L' = L. The notions of simple right and two-sided ideals are defined similarly. In this paper, the author characterize when an ordered semigroup having a kernel is the class sum of its simple left, right and two-sided ideals. Further, the structure of simple two-sided ideals will be discussed.

Analogues of $2(S)-5, 2^{l}, 5^{l}$-trihydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone, a naturally-occurring compound, which had been reported to have potent antitumor activity, were synthesized and examined for the cytotoxicity against three cancer cell lines. Among the intermediate chalcones and synthetic 5-hydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone analogues, $({\pm})2^{l}, 5^{l}-dibenzyloxy-5, 7, 8-trimethoxyflavanone$ exhibited about 2-8 times stronger activity than $2(S)-5, 2^{l}, 5^{l}$-trihydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone against L1210, K562 and A549 cancer cell lines. In the structure-activity relationship, it is suggested that among analogues of 5-hydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone, the existence of two oxygenated groups of para-relation at $C-2^{I} and C-5^{I}$ positions on flavanone B-ring, may be necessary to exhibit effective cytotoxic activity.

Vittorio Alfieri fu celebrato dagli uomini del Risorgimento come "l'iniziatore ed il padre della rinascita" e il creatore della coscienza nazionale. Per questo è lodato da Foscolo, Manzoni, Leopardi, Mazzini, Gioberti, Oriani, Carducci. Ma insieme con i suoi meriti politici, anche i valori artistici delle sue opere non debbono essere dimenticati. Anche sul pensiero e sull'opera dell'Alfieri influirono le ideologie tipiche del secondo Settecento, l'Illuminismo e il nascente Romanticismo, in lui intrecciandosi e scontrandosi ad un tempo. Il suo interesse per lo studio dell'uomo, per la concezione meccanicistica del mondo, la lontananza dalla religione per l'assoluta libertà e l'avversione verso il dispotismo, collegano Alfieri alla dottrina illuminista. I temi letterari illuministici, volti a chiarificare le coscienze e ad apportare il progresso sociale e civile, sono affrontati dal poeta non in modo distaccato, ma con l'emotività e le inquietudini del pensiero romantico. Ma i letterati romantici dell'Ottocento furono piuttosto ostili all'opera dell'Alfieri, accusandola di astratezza, di lontananza dagli interessi e dalla realtà della vita moderna e di assenza di senso storico. Invece nei primi anni del Novecento, Croce lo presenta come iniziatore della nuova letteratura italiana, con la quale egli avrebbe in comune l'individualismo, la passionalità, l'amore per la solitudine, la malinconia. Anche se gli manca l'ansia religiosa sul fine e il valore della vita e l'interessamento per la storia, ecc., secondo il Croce si può definire un protoromantico. Nelle sue opere ci sono, sotto l'aspetto dell'Illuminismo l'odio istintivo contro la tirannide e l'amore per la libertà, e sotto quello protoromantico esplode l'urto violento di sentimenti e passioni e l'esaltazione della morte eroica dei protagonisti. E anche Saul e Mirra descrivono l'idea dell'umanità eroica che muore dopo una lunga vicenda di miseria e di abbiezione. L'idea dell'umanità nuova in Saul e Mirra è l'idea degli uomini nuovi che egli desiderava.
