Development of Fashion Art Design with Jogakbo, a Korean Traditional Wrapping Cloth

  • In this study, we will analyze the artistic character of Jogakbo as a element of fashion art design. Korean traditional Jogakbo is a common homemade item made from clothing remnants and is a part of the culture of women�s quarters. Currently, Jogakbo is higly regarded for its artistic value and it finds a variety of uses in fashion. In particular, it is striking how its modern-style geometric lines and color composition are congruous with abstract art. In applying Jogakbo to fashion art design, we study the artistic expression of Jogakbo in 4 aspects; namely, line, color, material, and technique; and analyze the 4 artistic characteristics; beauty of naivety, simplicity, moderation and freedom. 8 dresses designed based on these 4 characteristics are presented as examples.

The Impact of Total Radiation Flux on Organic Materials under LED Lighting

  • In this study, an accelerated aging experiment for fabric and paper was conducted using two light emitting diode(LED) sources with different wavelength characteristics, and the discoloration under each lighting type was examined. Hanji(Korean traditional paper) and related textiles showed more discoloration under blue LEDs, while the blue wool standard showed more discoloration under white LEDs. This, indicated that the deterioration varied depending on the sample color. The the effect of the light source on artifact deterioration was primarily related to the total radiation flux(expressed in mill watts), rather than the total luminous flux(expressed in lumens). In addition, the discoloration of the investigated artifacts was dependent on the color rendering of the lighting.

Development of Korean Style Loungewear (Part II)

  • The paper details the development of a Korean style loungewear based on traditional Korean hanbok clothing. For this, we surveyed and collected data from 3,500 adults over 20 years of age. The questions were on their preferences of hanbok for both traditional and contemporary styles as well as loungewear. The survey showed that preferences for hanbok were high for both traditional and contemporary styles. The survey also suggests how a successful mass-produced Korean style loungewear should be designed to increase its popularity. It should feature comfortably simplified silhouettes, a selection of contemporary colors from Korean symbolic colors, modernized Korean textile surface designs, and easy-to-maintain healthy fabric. Based on these results, the development direction of Korean style loungewear was set and various loungewear samples were produced. Another group of survey participants were asked to try on samples and their preferences were surveyed. At the conclusion, a version that was most preferred among the participants was obtained. We suggest one-piece style and two-piece style designs with silhouettes based on the characteristics of traditional Korean costumes. The preferred fabric for loungewear was natural and soft cotton. We suggest the necessity and effectiveness of loungewear made with environment-friendly hanji-fabric. The main colors for loungewear were selected based on survey: blue, red, white, and saekdong (color stripes). We made color combinations with the main colors then applied the textile surface designs. The traditional Korean patterns of Hangeul (Korean letters), taegeuk (yin-yang), geometric figures, and samjogo (three-legged crow) were also chosen, and then loungewear using the textile designs was developed. The results have been shown on the "Han Style Fashion Show" by Jeonju City and exhibited in the "Seoul Living Design Fair" and the "International Art & Craft Trend Fair" in COEX, Seoul.

채색문화재에 적용된 전통 황색 광물안료 석황의 채색 특성 (The Discoloration Characteristics of Orpiment used as Traditional Yellow Mineral Pigments in Painting Cultural Properties)

  • 전통 황색 광물안료 석황이 적용된 채색문화재에서 석황부위의 색상변질이 빈번히 발생된다. 채색문화재에서 변색되는 원인을 밝히고자 석황과 석황에 혼합하여 사용하는 몇가지 안료를 분말과 채색상태로 제작하여 연구하였다. 석황에 연백, 연단, 주사를 비율에 따라 혼합한 후 아교에 넣어 한지와 견에 채색하였다. 명반으로 발생할 수 있는 변색을 고려하기 위해서 채색시편에 대해 명반처리 시험을 실시하였다. 시편들의 내구성을 확인하기 위하여 자외선시험기로 내광성시험을 3단계, 총 96시간 동안 실시하였다. 시험을 거친 시편에 대하여 색도계를 사용하여 색변화를 측정하였으며, XRD와 Raman 스펙트로메터로 광물과 구조변이, SEM/EDS로 화학성분의 변화를 분석하였다. 내광성시험에 따른 순수 석황 분말의 색변화는 적었던 반면, 채색시편에서는 약간 어두워졌다. 견바탕에 채색한 것의 색변화가 컸으며, 명반이 처리된 시편의 색변화가 컸다. 석황분말에서는 자외선시험 후 orpiment가 변질된 백색의 arsenolite가 생성되었다. 석황-연백 혼합분말에서는 석황과 연백의 구성광물만이 검출되었고, 변질물질은 생성되지 않은 반면, 자외선시험 후에는 orpiment와 orpiment의 변질물인 arsenolite, 그리고 연백의 구성광물이 검출되였다. 두 안료의 분말상태의 혼합에서는 자외선시험에 의해서도 암흑화현상이 발생되지 않았다. 그러나 혼합분말로 채색된 시편은 자외선시험에 의해 암흑화되었다. 채색시편에서 혼합된 안료와 바탕재에 따라 석황의 색상 변화가 다르게 나타나며, 명반처리한 경우는 안한 경우보다 큰 색변화를 보여 명반도 석황의 색변화에 영향을 주는 것으로 드러났다.

한국화 모티브를 활용한 어패럴용 텍스타일 CAD 디자인 (Textile Design with CAD for Apparel Employing Motives from Korean Traditional Paintings)

  • We believe distinguishable product development to be competitive against foreign products, and realize the need to expand domestic business worldwide. In order to be competitive, we should produce fashion items that meets global taste, and at the same time contain exclusive Korean culture and emotional beauty. This article examines and creates unique textile design with the touch of Korean art. Desigus have been proceeded under the following three themes: 'Strong Ego,' 'Gorgeous Days' and 'Song Eternal Seeking Love' using Primavision Computer-aided Design ("CAD"). We have put our interestes in Korean traditional paintings called Hangukhwa. Suitable design motives had been selected and modified from the four gracious plants (bamboos, peonies etc.), and paintings of birds and flowers. Primavision, a CAD software, had been used to manipulate those desigus, and to add instant changes in color, scale, and layout. We had modified Korean traditional motives to make modem image, and had arranged layouts which can be suitable for half-drop repeat and square repeat. The use of color is essential in pattern design. Thus, we explored coloring ways for each design to meet the trends, and the final mapping had been conducted in western style of dresses. We have tried to mix Korean image of textile designs with Western clothing style, expressing hybrid in the mapping process. With global movements, we need to develop products with Korean traditional exotic taste to attract foreign consumers. Therefore, we selected symbolic motives from Korean paintings to express deep spiritual significance. We developed textile design and processed mapping on selected western designer's dress, employing current trend colors and making crossover coordination. We realized Korean painting would be an excellent source for exclusive fabric design, and tried to create a modernized design which maintains Korean ethnical identities.

중의 변증론치와 동의보감의 변증론치에 대한 연구 (Study of Relationship between China BeunJungLonChi and DongEuiBoGam BeunJungLonCh)

  • It is different from the DongEuiBoGam(東醫寶鑑) of Korea traditional medicine that China BeunJungLonChi(中醫辨證論治) was made for the scientific and systematic assortment of China medicine. Symptom(症)is more important than symptom complex(證)in china BeunJungLonChi at DonEuBoGam. And unusual symptoms generally are diseases in DongEuiBoGam. DongEuiBoGam is emphasis on body form, temper, body color, pulse(形氣色脈) and the functional difference of organs by body form and body color. there are many problems in order to unify the theory of Korea traditional medicine by china BeunJungLonChi. I suggest that a new assortment that can combine Sasang constitutional medicine(四象醫學), Constitution-Acupuncture(體質針), and Hyungsang medicine(四象醫學) will be necessary. BeunJungLonChi : diagnosis and treatment based on overall analysis of symptoms and signs, the cause, nature and location of the illness and the patient's physical condition according to the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine

전통 음청류의 테이크아웃 음료 개발을 위한 소비자 조사 (A Survey on the Plans to Market Traditional Korean Beverages as Take-Out Products)

  • With the goal of searching for the ways to help market traditional beverages as take-out products, this study conducted a survey over men and women over 20 years of age in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Their perceptions of importance in choosing traditional beverages and conventional drinks were examined for difference. As a result, taste, reliability, health, flavor, and price were important at general beverage, while taste, health, flavor, reliability, price, and color were in choosing traditional beverages. The participants mentioned recovery from fatigue as the most favorable added feature of traditional beverages, which was followed by beneficial for adult diseases and facilitating digestion. Their preferences toward using them to satisfying a sense of hunger was relatively low. The participants preferred price range was $3,000{\sim}3,500$ won, their favorite ingredients were functional ones, and their favorite shop design was a traditional style. It seems that the marketability of traditional beverages as take-out products is high. The promotion and development efforts should involve marketing to women, differentiation strategies from other drinks, a graceful image, reliable drinks, and additional functions such as recovery from fatigue and can benefit adult diseases.

오징어 내장을 첨가한 된장의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics for Doenjang Using Squid Internal Organs)

  • 본 연구는 울릉도를 비롯한 오징어 산지에서 소규모로 제조 식용되고 있는 오징어된장의 품질 특성을 조사하였다. 재래된장과 오징어된장(I, II, III)의 수분함량, 염도, 아미노태 질소 함량은 유사한 수준이었으나, pH 및 과산화물가는 오징어된장에서 높았고, 색상에서도 차이를 보였다. 오징어된장은 taurine 함량이 $53.26{\sim}170.90\;mg%$로 특이적으로 높았으며, ${\alpha}-aminobutyric$ acid 함량도 $35.17{\sim}151.00\;mg%$로 높아 재래된장과는 구별되었다. 이밖에 구수한 맛을 나타내는 aspartic acid, glutamic acid 및 단맛성분인 threonine, serine, proline의 함량도 오징어된장에서 다소 높았으며, 쓴맛에 관여하는 isoleucine, leucine의 함량은 재래된장과 오징어된장 간에 큰 차이가 없었다. 한편 오징어된장의 휘발성 성분은 ethylbutylether와 같은 에스테르류 및 2-propenal, 3-methylbutanal 등 알데히드류의 비율이 전반적으로 높고 알콜류의 비율은 상대적으로 낮은 경향이었으며, 특히 ethylbutylether, 2-propeanl, 3-methyl1-butanal, 2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-pentadecane, ethyllinoleate 등이 특이적으로 확인되었다. 저장 4주후 맛에 대한 기호도는 오징어내장을 10% 첨가한 오징어된장(II)에서 가장 높았으며 오징어된장(I)과 유의적인 차이가 있었다. 저장 8주후 오징어된장(I, II)의 경우 맛에 대한 기호도는 비교적 높은 점수를 나타내었으나, 향과 색에 대한 기호도는 재래된장에 비해 크게 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

And look around about the developing case of domestic company and modeling method, a pattern of traditional design development, As on of distinction's way has doing conjoint analysis for abstract to character of traditional form and have devdloping to product with a present expression elements and design concept for a basis.
