  • Self-potential (SP) survey was carried out at Pohang geothermal field. SP measurement showed clear positive anomaly at northern part of the test wells, which can be a up-flow zone of the deep geothermal water due to electrokinetic potential generated by hydrothermal circulation. To give a clearer image of the fluid flow pattern around the test wells, a two-dimensional numerical simulation was applied to construct a numerical block model of the fluid flow system based on SP and magnetotelluric survey results. The result suggests existence of two high permeability zones including the main manifestation area in the northern part of the test wells.

  • Groundwater qualities in Nakdong river region were investigated during 1999 and 2000. Groundwater samples were collected twice from about 150 sites over the region. The EC and TDS obtained in first survey (October, 1999) show rather high values than those in second survey(April, 2000) and this seems to be caused by groundwater temperature. There is obvious positive correlation between EC and TDS. For the study area, the following equation can be written : TDS(mg/l) = <0.64~0.70> x EC($mutextrm{s}$/cm). As the concentration of major ions increases in natural condition, there is a tendency that the ratio of TDS and EC has consistent value. This observation suggests that TDS measurement can be replaced by EC measurement in the some ranges.

  • To delineate the internal structures of alluvial aquifer, high resolution seismic and GPR methods were adopted in Buyeo Gunsu-Ri area. The result of seismic refraction survey shows the water table of the aquifer and the result of seismic reflection reveals the basement and somewhat dominant internal structures of alluvial aquifer. The internal heterogeneity due to variations in channel behavior can be delineated using GPR survey. GPR profiles for the point bar deposits near Buyeo county reveals two different stratigraphic units the lower inclined heterogeneous strata and the upper horizontally stratified strata. According to the increase of demand for water resource using artificial recharge in alluvium, it is believed that the information acquired by high resolution geophysical methods will have an important roles for the effective and sustainable development and usage of groundwater in alluvial aquifer.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose vegetation management devices through analyzing the actual vegetation, flora, plant community structure and soil chemical concentrations in Weolmi urban nature park, Incheon. The actual vegetation of Weolmi Park in various areas is composed of urbanization area(2 types, 25.9%), landscape planting area(4 types, 16.1%), grass and marsh area(5 types, 7.6%) and mountain forest areal(14 types, 50.4%). The flora is composed of 295 taxa with 80 families, 253 species, 35 varieties and 7 formas, and among them there are 16 naturalized plant families, 39 species, 3 varieties. In reflection of size, the number of the species seems high but most of the them are under influence of human disturbance. Nine survey plots of plant community structure are classified into two groups. One is the semi-natural plant community(Prunus sargentii-Acer palmatum, Quercus accutissma-Prunus sargentii, Quercus serrata-Quercus accutissma-Prunus sargentii, Prunus sargentii, and Zelkova serrata-Prunus sargentii) that migrated finn the planting forest to the natural forest and the other is planting forest(Pinus koraienssis-Pinus thunbergii-Abies holophylla-Chamaectparis obtusa, Prunus sargentii, Pinus thunbergii-Alnus firma, Zelkova serrata). The average pH is 4.65 which means the soil acidity is quite high. The concentration of K, Ca, Mg and base saturation is very low. It seems that the environmental pollutants from Incheon Port and industrial plants near by survey site and long-distance transport of air pollutants from China made the soil condition worse. On the basis of the results above, six vegetation management devices are suggested: 1) removing the hazard plants(Pueraia thunbergiana and Humulus japonica), 2) natural landscape management of the middle and long term, 3) increasing species diversity, 4) Robinia pseudoacacia management, 5) keeping the naturalized plants from being distributed any further inside the mountain forest, 6) improving soil acidification.

  • When cut slope is excavated, corestone in cut slope exists 20∼30%. In case of soil and soft rock mixing, people lay out gradient of 1 : 0.5, because of soft rock slope. In a case, slope that exists corestone between soil happens to large landslide. So, As a study performs geological survey, Analysis of slope stability reinforcement measures, etc, A study presents example meaures and analysis on slope stability of corestone.

  • This study was conducted to investigate changes of vegetation and soil characteristics to tidal land of Saemangeum reclaimed land from 2010 to 2012. Soil salinity was 0.16-22.3 dS $m^{-1}$ in the first survey, while the three years later, it was decreased to 0.12-4.22 dS $m^{-1}$. Vegetations were classified as 6 families and 26 species but it was increased to 8 families and 31 species after three years. Numbers of average species in survey site were increased from 7.1 species to 10.6 species. Numbers of vegetation were increased at each survey sites except for survey site 7 : there was decreased halophyte according to decrease in the soil salinity. Biomass production was increased at low production site, and showed highest production in area of dominant vegetation as Phragmites communis. Simpson's dominance ratio(SDR) of main vegetation as Phragmites communis, Calamagrostis epigeios were increased but Suaeda maritima, Salicornia europaea, Puccinellia nipponica and Zoysia sinica were decreased.
