공학 Reading & Writing 교재 개발 및 학습성과 분석 (Development of an Engineering Reading & Writing Textbook and Analysis of Study Outcomes)

  • The authors have developed a reading & writing textbook for engineering students to improve their communication capability, and also analyzed the outcomes that the students accomplished through the Engineering Reading and Writing class. The reading & writing textbook has been organized to be used as a guidebook with which the engineering students can practically solve the problems that they would face continuously after they finish their regular curriculum and when they are employed. The questionnaire survey analysis has been performed in order to evaluate the textbook contents, lecturing, and learning outcomes for the lecturers and students finished the engineering reading and writing classes. Desirable evaluation has been resulted in the broad areas: subject extraction from the readings, logical understanding, summarizing, practical writing, writing principle, etc.

2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 독서교육의 발전 방향 모색 - 교과서 수록 읽기자료를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development Direction of Reading Education in the 2015 Revised Curriculum)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 2015 개정 교육과정으로 개발된 고등학교 교과서의 읽기자료 특성을 조사하여 향후 독서교육 발전 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국어, 수학, 영어, 통합과학, 통합사회 주요 교과를 대상으로 고등학교 교과서의 읽기자료를 분석하였고, 읽기자료의 분석 기준은 주제 유형, 목적, 학생 활동이었다. 연구 결과, 고등학교 통합사회와 통합과학 교과서에는 인간, 자유, 문화, 환경, 지구 등 다양한 주제의 읽기자료가 각 단원의 개념과 연관되어 제시되고 있었다. 특히 국어교과는 한단원에만 '한 학기에 한권의 책 읽기'라는 단원이 신설되어 있었다. 그러나 대부분 읽기자료가 효과적인 독서 전략이나 독서 방향에 대한 안내가 없으며, 읽기자료의 양이 부족하고 확장적 독서를 위한 자료나 정보가 부족함을 알 수 있었다. 교과서의 읽기자료가 각 단원의 학습 내용을 단순하게 보충하거나 개념 이해를 위한 단편적인 단서로만 제시되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 교과의 읽기자료 제시가 나열식으로 단순하게 전개되어 있으며, 읽기자료가 학생들의 독서 흥미, 독서의 내면화 그리고 독서 확장을 위한 도구로는 미흡함을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문은 고등학교 교과서의 확장을 위한 읽기자료의 보조 자료를 제안하고, 교과서 구성 측면과 수업 방법 측면에 대한 제안을 통해 교과서와 독서교육의 발전적 관계를 모색해보았다.

초등학생들은 과학 교과서에 나오는 삽화를 어떻게 이해하고 있을까? (How does Elementary Students Understand Illustrations in Science Textbook ?)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary students' difficulties when they read the illustrations on scientific textbook. 5 illustrations were selected on basis that they had some of the textual/graphical features. The data were collected from open-ended questionnaires and follow-up interviews. To investigate difficulties of reading illustrations, 100 sixth grade students participated in this study and interviews were taken to 9 volunteers among those participants. The results showed that many students had difficulties in the integration of verbal representation and realistic image representation on the illustration, therefore they often misunderstood the meaning of illustration. These results gave several recommendations when we used illustrations as educational materials. Teachers would be better to guide that students could understand illustrations with the integration of the reading of one or more representations.

  • Images in the textbooks influence the learning process. Students often see pictures before reading the text and these pictures can enhance the power of imagination of the students. The findings of some researches show that the images in textbooks can increase students' creativity. However, when learning major subjects, reading a textbook or looking at a picture alone may not be enough to understand the topics and completely realize the concepts. Studies show that viewers remember 95% of a message when watching a video than reading a text. If we can combine textbooks and videos, this teaching method is fantastic. The "TEXT + IMAGE + VIDEO (Animation)" concept could be more beneficial than ordinary ones. We tried to give our solution by using machine learning Image Classification. This paper covers the features, approaches and detailed objectives of our project. For now, we have developed the prototype of this project as a web app and it only works when accessed via smartphone. Once you have accessed the web app through your smartphone, the web app asks for access to use the camera. Suppose you bring your smartphone's camera closer to the picture in the textbook. It will then display the video related to the photo below.

고등학교 교과용 도서 체제에 관한 학생들의 시 지각 반응 연구 (A Study of Student' Visual Perceptive Response to Reading System for High School Textbooks)

  • This styudy analyzed the main bodies, marginal space, Position of the main bodies of curent textbooks in high schools and "the eriteria of reading system for textbooks" which was sugested the Department of Education and Provided some sugestions for the improvement. The research methods used for the study were both literature review and survey rdsdarch with a questionaire. Inorder to research for the main body of textbook, space of margin, the optimum position fo the main body, sizes of litters, spaces between letters, words, lines length of lines, sizes of main body and margin, and margin, and postitionof main body were checked through a related literature review. For the questionaire experiment, a questionaire based on data drawn from analysis of textbooks, "criteria for reading system of textbook" sugested by the Department of Education, and some suggestions for improvement by the researcher was made and used for the test, targetting 384 body and girl students in high schools.

온라인 주석시스템에서 학생들의 지식공유를 통한 과학교과서의 협력적 독해 양상 분석 (Collaborative Reading Comprehension of Science Textbook via Students' Knowledge Sharing in an Online Annotation System)

  • 이 연구에서는 온라인 주석시스템을 이용한 과학교과서 독해 과정에서 학생들이 동료들에게 요청한 지식의 종류, 학생들이 동료들에게 제공한 지식의 정확성, 지식공유행동의 빈도, 협력적 독해의 효과성에 대한 학생들의 평가, 그리고 동료 간 신뢰의 정도를 조사하였다. 중학교 2학년 241명의 학생이 과학 교과서의 2개 대단원을 온라인 주석시스템을 이용하여 작성한 주석(질문과 답변)을 Bloom의 개정된 분류틀과 답변의 정확성 분석틀을 이용하여 분석하였다. 또 효과성 설문지, 인지기반 신뢰와 정서기반 신뢰 측정 도구를 사용하였다. 학생들이 교과서를 읽으면서 만든 질문의 80%는 '이해 질문'이었고, 이 유형의 질문은 개인의 독해를 위한 메타인지 전략과 유사하였다. 이러한 요구에 의해 학생들 간에 공유한 지식은 71%가 과학적으로 올바른 지식이었다. 지식공유행동의 빈도를 살펴보면 학생들은 온라인 주석시스템을 이용한 독해과정에서 활발하게 지식공유행동을 수행하였으나, 행동의 빈도는 보상에 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 보인다. 학생들은 온라인 주석시스템을 통해 수행한 지식공유행위가 학습에 도움이 되었다고 평가하였다. 또한 학생들끼리 서로를 지식공유자로서 신뢰하는 비율은 80% 이상으로 나타났다. 이 연구를 통해 온라인 주석 시스템을 사용하여 독해를 하였을 때 학생들이 지식공유를 함으로써 독해과정에서 발생한 어려움을 극복할 수 있었음을 알 수 있다. 또한 온라인 주석 시스템을 사용한 협력적 독해는 일방향적인 정보전달에 그쳤던 기존의 교과서 읽기와 달리, 쌍방향적이고 역동적으로 지식을 공유하게 함으로써 인지적 개별화 교육이 가능하도록 함을 확인하였다.

2007과 2009 개정 과학교과서에 제시된 달의 위상 변화 삽화에 대한 초등학교 5학년 학생들의 이해 (Elementary School 5th Students' Understanding of the Illustrations on the Phase change of the Moon in Science Textbook of 2007 and 2009 Revised National Curriculum)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how elementary school student understands or students understand the illustrations on the phase change of the Moon in science textbook and to find out how textbook illustration helps students form the conception of the phase change of the Moon. To identify this purpose, we selected illustrations on the phase change of the Moon in the science textbook revised in 2007 and 2009 revised science textbook. For this study we selected and interviewed 20 students in the fifth grade. We integrated all data collected through interviews and created a transcription and a protocol and then, confirmed scientific conceptions related to the phase change of the Moon in students' illustration reading. The result are as followings: First, students read more scientific conceptions related to the phase change of the Moon in illustration of the 2009 revised science textbook which is presented with the universal observer's view point and the earth observer's view point. Second, students who find meaning in the various elements of the illustration and interpret with the integration of the various elements, get a lot of relevant information from illustration. All students have no differences recognizing the elements presented in illustration. But there are differences of contents of illustration reading depending on how students interpret the illustrations with integration of the various elements and if students cannot figure out the four scientific concepts needed to understand the phase change of the Moon, they ignore the information provided by illustration or analysis in their own way according to information provided by illustration. So misconception appears in this process.

한국어 읽기 교육을 위한 기사문 장르분석 -신문기사 및 교재 기사문의 언어학적 분석을 바탕으로- (A Genre Analysis of Newspaper Articles for Korean Language Education -Based on the linguistic analysis of newspaper articles and reading materials in Korean language textbooks-)

  • The goal of this study is to examine whether the genre characteristics of newspaper articles are appropriately reflected in Korean language textbooks. For the purpose of this study, two corpora were built with 17 textbook articles and 60 newspaper articles respectively. The average sentence length and frequency of vocabulary in each corpus were measured. It was found that the sentences of articles in textbooks tended to have longer sentence length and more complicated structures than the articles in newspapers. For instance, sentences in the textbook articles had more verbal endings, such as conjunctive and transforming endings. On the other hand, in case of vocabulary representing 'timeliness', there was a high frequency of adverbs and nouns which were related to year, month, and time in actual articles, while it is found to be very limited in textbooks. Also, typical translative styles such as '-ko itta', '-e ttareumyun' were more prominent in textbooks than in newspaper articles. In the case of abbreviated and omitted form of particles, this was a characteristic that appeared only in actual articles because of the constraint of space. It is significant that this paper offers suggestions for the development of reading materials for Korean language education by revealing that the genre typology of actual newspaper articles is not adequately reflected in current textbooks.

과학교과서와 그에 관련된 교수 학습자료의 활용 실태 조사 (On Science Textbooks and Related Teaching Learning Materials)

  • The purpose of the study was to establish a new view of textbook which may contribute to the abolishment of the instruction mainly based on the only textbook and to the promotion of creativities of students. We first reviewed science textbooks and related teaching-learning materials of foreign countries with emphasis on the relationship among textbook and teaching-learning materials and practical use of them. In western countries the roles of traditional textbook has been changed. That is, various kinds of materials such as reading book, work-book, worksheet, experimental guidebook, filmstrips are used to raise effect of instruction besides of traditional type of textbook. Secondary, we identified the problems related to the science textbook-view of textbook, textbook contents, practical use of textbook-through opinion survey administered to principals akd teachers of elementary schools. The results of the survey are as follows; Concerning the view of textbook, most teachers did not recognize textbook as an absolute materials. They thought that textbook contents could be taught reorganized according to their judgements. On the contrary, teachers responded to the question of whether or not they follow contents of textbook as they are presented in it were approximately 30%. Further, more than 75% of them have seldom used instructional materials except textbooks. In order to revise the problems of our present textbook as stated above, a new view of textbook should be established. We, above all, established 4 basic premises for searching a new view of textbook. 1) Textbook should not be considered as the only material but as being at the center of various teaching -learning materials. 2) The importance of textbook should be illustrated Among Curriculum, textbook and related teaching-learning materials, instruction and evaluation. 3. Textbook contents should not be regarded as definitely fixed or absolute ones. 4. Human being can understand environment more fully by commanding his swnsory organ multilaterally. Under these premises we disscussed about curriculum and textbook, textbook, and instruction, akd evaluation method.
