인공점등에 의한 조기 산란유도 꿩집단의 산란능력과 난형 (Egg Production and Egg Shape of Early Egg Laying Group Induced by Artificial Light in Korean Ring-Necked Pheasant)

  • To investigate the response of egg production to the artificial light to induce early egg laying. and the changes of egg weight and egg shape during the egg laying cycle, 30 Korean ring-necked pullets and their 1,284 eggs layed under artificial light control were used in this study. The first egg was ohserved at the age of 31 wk, after 4 wk of stimulating light(16 hour light: 8 hour dark). Egg production rate during seven 2-wk periods from the begining of the first egg was 43.7% and a clear peak egg production(61.7%) was shown at the 4th 2-wk period. The effects of egg production period and pullet on the egg weight, egg length, egg width and egg shape index(width/length) were significant(P<0.01). In the egg production cycle. egg weight, egg length and egg width increased steadly with time. but the value of egg shape index increased up to the 3rd 2-wk period and then decreased. Repeatabilities from intraclass correlation for the egg weight, egg length. egg width and egg shape index were 0.61. 0.53, 0.49 and 0.48, respectively.

$^{60}Co$ 감마선 조사가 꿩의 정세관에 미치는 영향에 관한 전자현미경적 연구 (Ultrastructural Study on the Effects of $^{60}Co$ $\gamma-irradiation$ on the seminiferous tubules in the Pheasant(Phasianus colchicus))

  • This study was undertaken to investigate ultrastructural changes according to the radiosensitivity in the spermatogenic cells and Sertoli cell of the seminiferous tubules in Korean native pheasants. During spermatogenetic period, testes were collected from male adult Korean native pheasant and they were used as experimental and control birds. The experimental group was divided into a single-dose whole body irradiation group (400, 600, 800 and 1,000 rads) and a split-dose whole body irradiation groups(400/2, 600/2, 800/2 and 1,000/2 rads). The experimental birds were sacrificed at 24 and 72 hrs after irradiation and the control pheasants were sacrificed at the same time. Ultrastructural changes of Sertoli cells and spermatogonia were investigated by ultrathin section with electron microscope. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The apoptosis was observed after 72 hrs group of the single-dose irradiation of 400 rads. 2. The cytoplasmic organelles of spermatogonia were severely damaged more than that of sertoli cell in 72 hours group of split-dose irradiation of 800 rads. 3. The cytoplasmic organelles of Sertoli cell were severely damaged except the nuclear membrane of Sertoli cells in 72 hrs group of split-dose irradiation of 1,000 rads.

  • To analyze wedding feast dishes of royal prince (1651, 1696) of Choson Dynasty, studied Gare Dogam Euigwae. Historic book 'Gare Dogam Euigwae' discribed wedding feast dishes of king‘s Choson Dynasty. The results obtained from this study are as follows. Dishes were arranged in four kinds of table, the first one called the main table, the second the right side table, the third the left side table, the fourth the confronting side table. Dishes of main table were oil and honey pastry, and fruits (pine nuts, orange, dried persimmon, torreya nuts, dried chestnut, jujube). Dishes of the second table and the third table were oil and honey pastry, and small cake made of honey and rice with patterns pressed in it. Dishes of the fourth table were cooked vegetable (wild ginseng, platy-codon, radish, white gourd melon, ginger), dried slices of meat seasoned with spices (abalone, octopus, shark, pheasant), cooked meat (wild goose, fowl, egg, pheasant, abalone), and fried fish (roe deer, fish, duck, pigeon, sparrow). The main table (同牢大宴床) and the second table (右挾床) stand as a symbol for integrity. The third table (左挾床) symbolize longerity. The fourth table (面挾床) symbolize bearing many young and connubial felicity.

["쇄미록(鎖尾錄)"]을 통해본 16세기 동물성 식품의 소비 현황 (The Consumption Patterns of Animal Foods in the Sixteenth Century as Observed through Shamirok)

  • The purpose of this study were to analyze the consumption patterns of animal foods during the sixteenth century through Shamirok. There were eleven animal foods : beef, pork, chicken, pheasant, deer, roe, lamb, bear, fox, sparrow, and horse. The most frequently consumed were in the order of pheasant, doe, and chicken. There were 44 fish consumed, including flatfish, hairtail, mackerel, flounder, kumlin fish, bass, null fish, codfish, and red snapper, as well as four mollusks and six shellfish. Eggs and fish egg were also consumed. These foods were cooked as Tang(湯), Gui(灸), Po(脯), Hoe(膾), and Sookyook(熟肉), or processed after being dried or salted. The animal foods were mostly consumed as Po and Tang in daily eating and for formal dishes. Fish were mostly consumed as Jockgal or Shikhae. The foods were primarily acquired by donation from local officials or relatives ; secondly by independent poultry farming, fishing, or hunting, along with the production of grain and thirdly through barter with rice and textiles. Food were sometimes traded for profit, but such acts of trading while living ; as wartime refugees was a meager means for living.

꿩고기 가공제품의 저장중 미생물과 휘발성 염기태질소의 변화 (Changes in Microbial Contents and Volatile Basic Nitrogen of Pheasant Meat Products during Storage)

  • 꿩고기 가공제품들의 저장성을 평가하기 위하여 이들 제품을 온도별로 저장하면서 호기성 및 혐기성 세균과 식중독균을 검사하고 VBN 함량을 측정하여 그 신선도 유지상태를 검사하였다. 1. 가공제품의 저장 중 Salmonella, Shigella, Staphylococcus속 균 등 식중독 원인균과 Escherichia coli는 어느 제품에서도 검출되지 않았다. 2. 저장온도가 높을수록 호기성 및 혐기성 미생물의 증식속도가 빨라 $20^{\circ}C$$30^{\circ}C$ 저장에서는 대부분의 제품들이 5~10일 이내에 $10^6/g$ 이상의 균수를 보였으나 frank sausage, Ioin harm, pressed ham, salad 제품은 $20^{\circ}C$ 저장시 20~30일까지 $10^5/g$ 이하의 균수를 보였다. 3. $10^{\circ}C$ 저장에서는 훈연제품, 전기구이, pressed ham은 10일 이내에 $10^4/g$ 이상을 보였으나, frank sausage, Ioin ham, salad 제품은 $10^3/g$ 이하를 보여 비교적 좋은 저장성을 보였다. 4. 가공제품의 저장온도가 높을수록 VBN 함량이 높았으며, 훈연제품, 전기구이, frank sausage는 $10^{\circ}C$ 저장에서도 5일에 40mg%, 10일에 80mg% 이상을 보여 가식한계를 벗어났으나, Ioin ham, pressed ham, salad는 $10^{\circ}C$ 저장에서 10일까지 20mg%이하의 VBN 값을 보여 비교적 양호한 저장성을 보였다. 이상의 결과로 보아 꿩고기 가공제품들은 비교적 저장성이 약한 것으로 보이나 이들중 Ioin ham과 salad는 타제품에 비하여 저장성이 좋아 $10^{\circ}C$에서 약 10일 정도의 보존이 가능하다고 사료되며, Ioin ham과 salad 외의 제품들은 $10^{\circ}C$ 이하의 냉장 및 냉동유통이 바람직하다고 사료된다.

한국산 꿩의 고환수출소관의 구조 (The structure of the ductuli efferentes in the Korean native pheasant(Phasianus colchicus korpowi))

  • The morphology of the ductuli efferentes of the Korean native pheasants were observed in order to obtain a basic data for further studying reproductive physiology and other male genital organs. The mature (14-16 months after hatching) male pheasants were used in this study. The specimens from pheasants were collected on a monthly basis. The general morphological changes of the ductuli efferentes were observed with hematoxylineosin stain, and semithin section by light microscope. The ultrastructural changes of the ductuli efferentes were investigated with ultrathin section by transmission electron microscope. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. During the breeding season, the average height of ductuli efferentes epithelium was $23.45{\pm}2.34{\mu}m$ and was largely decreased by $17.85{\pm}2.01{\mu}m$ during the non-breeding season. The thickeness of interstitial tissue was comparatively increased during the non-breeding season. 2. During the breeding season, the epithelial cells of ductuli efferentes were well developed. During the non-breeding season, epithelial layer and lumen of ductuli efferentes, were markedley reduced compared with those of breeding season. 3. Morphological changes of the ductuli efferentes underwent periodic changes paralleling to the spermatogenic cycle. 4. At least two different cell types were identified in the epithelium of ductuli efferentes, namely non-ciliated and ciliated cells. 5. The ciliated cells possess many vesicles, slightly smaller than those of the non-ciliated cells. 6. The ciliated cells contained numerous mitochondria, smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, lysosome, and oval nuclei. The non-ciliated cells had a irregular nuclei and a cytoplasm containing few organelles. 7. During the breeding season, a number of vesicles, rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, and mitochondria were distinctively showed in the epithelial cells but in the non-breeding season only a few observed.

1600년대~1960년대 조리서에 수록된 잡채의 문헌고찰 (Review on Japchae in Cook Books Published during 1600s-1960s)

  • The changes in ingredients, seasonings and cooking methods of Japchae in Korean cook books published from the 1600s to the 1960s were investigated in this study. Japchae was a royal dish enjoyed by Kwanhaegun of Joseon Dynasty and interesting historical story is contained in it. Kwanghaegun Ilgi in 1608 showed that Japchae was Kwanghaegun's favorite dish. Therefore, it has been thought that Japchae was created in the 17th century. Wonhaengeulmyojeongrieugye in 1796 described bellflower Japchae and mungbean sprout Japchae. The traditional Japchae was made without glass noodle called dangmyeon. Eumsikdimibang in 1670 first introduced traditional Japchae, which was made with 20 different ingredients and then served with topping sauce made of pheasant broth, strained soybean paste and wheat flour. Japchae in Kyugonyoram(1896) was prepared by mixing mungbean sprout, watercress, gonjasoni, tripe and yukhwe with mustard. The current style Japchae with glass noodle first appeared in the 1920s and became popular in the 1950s because the traditional Japchae was described in cook books until the 1940s. There were two ways of preparing current style Japchae. Yijogungjeongyoritonggo in 1957 described Japchae was made by mixing the boiled glass noodle with other ingredients and seasonings together. On the other hand, Japchae in Urinaraeumsikmandeuneunbeob(1960) was prepared by seasoning first with other ingredients, and then mixing boiled glass noodle. A variety of ingredients - vegetables, mushrooms, meat, fish, pheasant, beef tong, sea cucumber, gonjasoni and pear - has been used to prepare Japchae. Japchae has been seasoned with ginger, soy sauce, black pepper, sesame salt, sesame oil, oil, leek, garlic, salt, sugar, vinegar and mustard. Egg strips, pine nut, thin strips of Shiitake and stone mushroom, red pepper threads, Chinese pepper(cheoncho), black pepper and ginger were used for garnishing.

꿩에서 분리된 Newcastle Disease Virus 내열성주 (CBP)의 Fusion(F) 유전자 클론닝과 염기서열 분석 (Molecular Cloning and Nucleotide Sequence of the Gene Encoding Fusion(F) Protein of the Thermostable Newcastle Disease Virus Isolated from a Diseased Pheasant)

  • The gene encoding F protein of CBP-1 strain, a heat-stable Newcastle disease virus (NDV) isolated from the diseased pheasants in Korea, was characterized by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), nucleotide and amino acid sequences. Virus RNA was prepared from the chorioallatoic fluid infected with NDV CBP-1 virus and cDNA was amplified by RT-PCR, cloned and sequenced to analyze. The PCR was sensitive as to detect the virus titer above $2^5$ hemagglutination unit. 1.7kb (1,707bp) size of the cDNA was amplified and cloned into BamHI site of pVL1393 Baculo transfer vector. The nucleotide sequences for F protein were determined by dye terminator cyclic sequencing using four pairs of primers, and 553 amino acid sequences were predicted. In comparison of the nucleotide sequence of F gene of CBP-1 with those of other NDV strains, the homology revealed 88.8%, 98.5% and 98.7% with Kyojungwon (KJW), Texas GB and Beaudette C strains, respectively. As the deduced 553 amino acid sequences of F protein of CBP-1 were compared with those of other NDV strains, the homology appeared 89.9%, 98.7% and 98.9% with KJW, Texas GB and Beaudette C strains, respectively. The putative protease cleavage site (112-116) was R-R-Q-K-R, indicating that CBP-1 strain is velogenic type. The amino acid sequences include 6 sites of N-asparagine-linked glycosylation and 13 cysteine residues. These data indicate that the genotype of CBP-1 strain is more closely associated with the strains of Texas GB and Beaudette C than KJW strain.

Role of Glutathione Redox System on the T-2 Toxin Tolerance of Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus)

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different dietary concentrations of T-2 toxin on blood plasma protein content, lipid peroxidation and glutathione redox system of pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). A total of 320 one-day-old female pheasants were randomly assigned to four treatment groups fed with a diet contaminated with different concentrations of T-2 toxin (control, 4 mg/kg, 8 mg/kg and 16 mg/kg). Birds were sacrificed at early (12, 24 and 72 hr) and late (1, 2 and 3 weeks) stages of the experiment to demonstrate the effect of T-2 toxin on lipid peroxidation and glutathione redox status in different tissues. Feed refusal and impaired growth were observed with dose dependent manner. Lipid-peroxidation was not induced in the liver, while the glutathione redox system was activated partly in the liver, but primarily in the blood plasma. Glutathione peroxidase activity has changed parallel with reduced glutathione concentration in all tissues. Based on our results, pheasants seem to have higher tolerance to T-2 toxin than other avian species, and glutathione redox system might contribute in some extent to this higher tolerance, in particular against free-radical mediated oxidative damage of tissues, such as liver.

야생조수(野生鳥獸) 인공사육농가(人工飼育農家)의 경영실태분석(經營實態分析)(사슴, 꿩, 멧돼지와 여우 사육농가(飼育農家)를 중심(中心)으로) (An Economic Analysis of Wildlife Rearing Farmhouses in Korea (Deer, Pheasant, Wild Boar and Fox Rearing Farmhouses))

  • 이상과 같이 사슴, 꿩, 멧돼지와 여우 사육농가(飼育農家)를 대상(對象)으로 경영실태(經營實態), 경영성과(經營成果)와 적정(適正) 경영규모(經營規模)를 구명(究明)한 연구결과(硏究結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 사슴, 멧돼지 사육농가(飼育農家) 경영주(經營主)의 사육년수(飼育年數)는 6년(年) 이상(以上)이 각각(各各) 68.3%, 66.7%로 나타나서 높은 경력소지자(經歷所持者)였다. 2. 대부분의 사육농가(飼育農家)가 야생동물(野生動物)을 부업(副業)으로 경영(經營)하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 3. 주요(主要) 비용항목(費用項目)중에서 종축구입비(種畜購入費), 사료구입비(飼料購入費), 인부임(人夫賃)과 감가상각비(減價償却費)가 높은 비중(比重)을 차지하고 있었다. 4. 사육농가(飼育農家)의 연간(年間) 이익율(利益率)은 사슴 사육농가(飼育農家)가 25.5%로 가장 높은 반면, 멧돼지 사육농가(飼育農家)가 10.3%로 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 5. 사육농가(飼育農家)의 손익분기점(損益分岐點) 매출액(賣出額)은 사슴사육농가(飼育農家)가 8.7백만(百萬)원, 꿩 사육농가(飼育農家)가 7.3백만(百萬)원, 멧돼지 사육농가(飼育農家)는 24백만(百萬)원, 여우 사육농가(飼育農家)는 12백만(百萬)원으로 나타났다. 최적매출규모(最適賣出規模)는 사슴 사육농가(飼育農家)가 11두(頭), 꿩 사육농가(飼育農家)가 1,027두(頭), 멧돼지 사육농가(飼育農家)가 69두(頭), 여우 사육농가(飼育農家)가 102두(頭)로 나타났다. 6. 이상의 결과(結果)로 미루어 볼때 사육농가(飼育農家)를 체계적(體系的)으로 보호(保護) 육성(育成)하기 위한 정책적지원(政策的支援)이 필요(必要)하다. (1) 축사환경개선(畜舍環境改善), 선진사육기술(先進飼育技術)의 보급(普及) 등(等)으로 생산비(生産費) 절감(節減)을 지속적(持續的)으로 추진(推進)해야 할 것이다. (2) 생산농가간(生産農家間)의 상호권익(相互權益)을 위한 조합(組合) 혹은 법인체(法人體)의 결성(結成), 유통체계확립(流通體系確立), 가공산업(加工産業)의 육성(育成) 등(等) 경영구조개선사업(經營構造改善事業)이 모색(模索)되어야 할 것이다. (3) 생산농가(生産農家)의 경영활성화(經營活性化)와 보호(保護) 육성(育成)을 위하여 금융(金融), 세제지원(稅制支援) 및 각종(各種) 관련법규제(關聯法規制)의 완화(緩和) 등(等) 제도적(制度的) 운영방안(運營方案)이 모색(摸索)되어야 할 것이다.
