  • This study was carried out to examine the effects of nitric oxide compounds (hemoglobin and L-NAME) on the development of porcine in vitro maturation (IVM) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) oocytes. Cumulus cell free embryos derived from porcine IVM/IVF oocytes were cultured in NCSU23 medium containing 1~5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ hemoglobin added to 44 and 96hrs in culture times, and in NCSU23 medium containing 0, 10, 50 or 100mM L-NAME. The developmental rates beyond morulae stage in 0, 1 and 5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ hemoglobin groups add to 44hrs in vitro culture times were 52.4%, 57.6% and 57.4%, respectively. The addition of hemoglobin groups made it slightly higher than the control group. The proportion of embryos developed to morulae and blastocysts in 1 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ hemoglobin add to 96hrs after in vitro culture (70.8%) was a little higher than those of 0 and 5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ hemoglobin (66.2% and 62.8%). There was no significant difference in all groups (P〉0.05). The developmental rates beyond morulae stage in 0, 10, 50 and 100mM of L-NAME groups add to 96hrs after in vitro culture were 65.2%, 73.5%, 70.1% and 53.3%, respectively 10mM and 50mM L-NAME groups were significantly higher than in 0 and 100mM of L-NAME groups (P<0.05). In conclusions, these results indicate that L-NAME (10mM, 50mM) can increase the proportion of embryos that develop into morulae and blastocysts but hemoglobin did not affect.

  • Object : This study was designed to research whether the protection and inhibitory effects of cardiovascular diseases in L-NAME induced rat or ECV 304 cell lines through the Cell morphological pattern, Tunel assay, LDH activity, heart rate, blood pressure and immunohistochemistric analysis by Boonsimgieum water extract Methods : Nitric oxide(NO) play an important role in normal and pathophysiological cells including as a messenger molecule, neurotransmitter, microbiocidal agent, or dilator of blood vessels and artheriosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial infarction, respectively. Endothelial cell products can modulate the magnitude of a response to a vasoconstrictor, as evinced by the greater constriction after endothelium removal or NO synthesis blockade. To investigate that Boonsimgieum in the potential contribution of the levels of nitric oxide generated by endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and the mechanisms of protection against NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), human ECV 304 cells, which normally do not express eNOS, were expressed by L-NAME. L-NAME stimulated rat or cells were found to be resistant to injury and delayed death following the Boonsimgieum. Inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis abolished the protective effect against L-NAME, thrombin and collagen exposure. Interestingly, such effects have been observed during stimulation with agents such as phenylephrine and KCl on L-NAME mediate rats, were damaged by the NOS inhibitor L-NAME. Result : As the result of this study, In group, the anti-apoptosis and necrosis in the cardiovascular system have a potential capacity for prevented, protected and treating the diseases of cardiovascular system, against the necrosis of rat and ECV 304 cells with Caspase 3 and calpain expression by L-NAME is promoted. Conclusion : these results demonstrate neuroprotective and memory enhancing effects of ZIBU, suggesting its beneficial actions for the treatment of AD.

  • Naturalized words of clothing terms in Joseon Dynasty could be found on the foreign language study books such as Chinese language study books; "譯語類解Yeokeoyuhae", "譯語類解補編Yeokeoyuhae-supplementary book], and "華語類抄Hwaeoyucho", Manchu language study book; "同文類解Dongmunyuhae", Mongolian language study books; 蒙語類解Mongeoyuhae", and "蒙語類解補編Mongeoyuhae-supplementary book", Japanese language study books; "倭語類解Oaeeoyuhae", and "和語類解Hwaeoyuhae", and the study books of over two kinds of foreign language; "方言類解Bangeonyuseok", and "漢淸文鑑Hanchungmungam". This study focused on the name that was related with headgear, socks and clothing from those foreign language study books. The name which was originated in Chinese language is Cwan, Yanggwan, Dugeon, Samo, Bokdu, Jungja, Okjam, Cwanja, Hwa, Johwa, Unhye, Jobok, Danlyeong, Wonlyeong, Changyi, Dunja, Hosu, Dansam, Dopa, Bigye, Peak, Yodae, and Pumdae. The name which was originated in Manchu language is Camto, Nyeolku, Dalogi, kulimae, and Mahulae. The name which was originated in Mongolian language is Tyeolic, and Dugeule. There are two kinds of names that have been used continuously during the whole Joseon Dynasty. The first ones borrowed just name, for example, Cwan, Dugeon, Mahulae, Okjam, Hwa, Dansam, Changyi, kulimae, and Yodae. The second ones loaned the name and object, for example, Yanggwan, Samo, Bokdu, Camto, Jungja, Cwanja, Jobok, Dalogi, Danlyeong, Wonlyeong, Dopa, Tyeolic, Peak, and Pumdae. It was observed that among Korean names that have been used from the Joseon Dynasty, Unhye, Dugeule, and Hosu were used as broader meaning in the Joseon Dynasty. It was names that had not used during the whole Joseon Dynasty were Johwa, Nyeolku, and Bigye.

  • Place names represent a lot of information about the region and the life of the local residents. In particular, old geographical names have more spatial informations than recent place names. This paper tried to analyze the distribution and characteristic of 'Dumo' which is one of the ancient place names and was studied by Nam youngwoo in 1996 for the first time. After considering the etymology and phonological structure of 'Dumo', the name 'Dumo' included the geographic conditions related to a mountain and river in itself. The total number of place names in the line of 'Dumo' which were collected by the author were 417 and they were distributed evenly on the Korean Peninsula. 85% of them were used for the human place names and 73% of the human place names were served as settlement names standing for a village or an administrative district. Thus the author analyzed the location and diffusion of 220 of settlement names in depth. As a result, villages named in the line of 'Dumo' preferred southern or eastern exposure and located in front of a mountain and around a river. After a village name 'Dumo' was set up, it produces other similar names in the line of 'Dumo' near the village so most place names of 'Dumo' were found with several names of 'Dumo' not alone.

  • Place names are generally composed of first half and second half, whether the originality of those names comes from Korean or Chinese. The first half, modifying the second half, represents the naming flexibility of the name, while the second half of the name points out its directive object, which refers to a branch of the name. For example, 'Myeong' in 'Myeongryang' and 'No' in 'Noryang' represent their naming flexibility while 'Ryang', constituting the second half, points out the name's directive object. The purpose of this study was to investigate the etymology of place names, 'Myeongryang' and 'Noryang', by figuring out the meanings of those two elements. In order to search for the meaning of the second half, 'Ryang', other examples presented in the related literature have been examined. The finding indicated that 'Ryang' means 'dol', or 'do', which refers to 'moon(door)'. Furthermore, it is found out that the meaning of 'Ryang' has been transferred from 'dol' or 'do' to 'moon(door)', furthermore, to the straits. Upon looking into the origins of those names on the field, it is interpreted that 'Myeong Ryang' has been meant as a door in which huge and rough waves cry out, and 'No Ryang' has been meant as a door in which huge and rough waves rise up.

  • Many overlay texts are artificially superimposed on the broadcasting videos by humans. These texts provide additional information to the audiovisual content. Especially, the overlay text in news videos contains concise and direct description of the content. Therefore, it is most reliable clue for constructing a news video indexing system. To make the automatic person indexing of interview video in the TV news program, this paper proposes the method to only detect the name text line among the whole overlay texts in one frame. The experimental results on Korean television news videos show that the proposed framework efficiently detects the overlaid name text line.

  • Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were orally administered with NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), which inhibits or blocks the production of nitric oxide from L-arginine in vascular endothelial cells and vessel tissue. We examined the effects of nitric oxide on some physiological changes such as blood pressure and heart rate, and confirms the apoptosis induced by the suppressed nitric oxide activity in the kidney. This study was performed to investigate correlation between the activities of nitric oxide and apoptosis by immunohistochemical changes of apoptotic control proteins with regulated chronic inhibition of nitric oxide. In the kidney from L-NAME-treated group, immunohistochemical reaction to the antigens of apoptosis inhibiting proteins such as bcl-2 and bcl-xL, exhibited a time-dependent reduction. The expression of apoptosis-inhibiting proteins such as bax and p53 increased expression in proportion to the duration of treatment. The most sensitive apoptosis regulating proteins to L-NAME were p53 in stimulation and bcl-2 in inhibition, respectively.

  • This paper aims at the examination on the fallacy of the name of 'Dadaepo-gaeksa'. The results are as follow: The so called 'Dadaepo-gaeksa' was one of the official buildings of Dadaejin, the naval forces in the late period of J osun dynasty. The building was moved to Molundae near the original site in 1970. And two years later, it was designated as a cultural asset. However it's real name is 'Dadaejin-dongheon', because Dadae-jin gaeksa was demolished about the time of the foundation of Dadaepo-elementary school. Otherwise, Dadae-jin donheon was used as a school building from 1904 to 1970. Futhermore, the architectural style of the existing building is different from the general gaeksa's in the period of J osun dynasty. Therefore, the name of Dadaepo-gaeksa needs to change into Dadaejin-gaeksa and to restore as its original style.
