Objectives : The purpose of this study is to figure out the changes in sex, age, disease distribution of outpatients in ophthalmology and otolaryngology of Korean medicine. Methods : We analyzed the medical records of 2,834 outpatients who visited department of ophthalmology and otolaryngology of Korean medicine at Kyung Hee university Korean medicine hospital between 2018 and 2022. And we compared the results with those of studies from 2000, 2007, and 2017, considering sex, age, and diseases. Results : 1. The total number of patients in ophthalmology and otolaryngology increased compared to 2012-2016, with a higher proportion of patients aged 50 and above in all departments. 2. The number of patients in ophthalmology has been continuously decreasing since 1996-1998. 3. The number of patients in otology has increased significantly compared to 2012-2016, with a trend towards a lower proportion of tinnitus and hearing loss. 4. The number of patients in rhinology has not recovered from the significant decrease in 2012-2016, and rhinitis continues to constitute a significant proportion. 5. The number of patients in laryngology has increased significantly compared to 2012-2016, with a trend towards a less proportion of laryngopharyngitis. Conclusion : The active utilization of diagnostic equipment, further research and promotion of Korean medicine treatment for ophthalmology and otholaryngology diseases are essential for expanding the treatment domain within ophthalmology and otolaryngology of Korean medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find an effective clerkship process for the implementation of participatory clinical practice that is practically applicable to most Colleges of Korean Medicine. Methods : Taking the 4th-grade students of the College of Korean Medicine, Kyung Hee University in 2019 as a subject, we conducted Role-playing and simulated CPX in the department of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology and conducted a satisfaction survey through a questionnaire. Results : 1. The preliminary expectations for overall practice and Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology practice did not differ significantly. 2. The satisfaction, data adequacy, feedback adequacy, and usefulness of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology course were 79.4%, 80.8%, 87.6%, and 86.5%, respectively. 3. When comparing the Role-playing of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology with mock CPX of Dermatology, data relevance level was similar, feedback adequacy level was higher in mock CPX, satisfaction and usefulness level were higher in Role-playing. Conclusion : Comparing Role-playing with the simulated CPX method, Role-playing is a relatively realistic form than the CPX method, and moreover students showed higher satisfaction and usefulness in Role-playing.

Objective : This study was carried out to analyze the trends of Acne related articles that have been published in the Journal of Korean Medicine Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology & Dermatology(JKOOD). Method : We studied 29 research papers relevant to Acne that published in JKOOD from 1998 to 2013. All the paper were classified into three categories; original article, review article and case report. We sub-classified the original articles into three categories; descriptive study, analytic study and experimental study. We analyzed the case report according to various types of treatment. Results : 1. The number of searched journals is 29 papers; 17 original ordicles, 4 review articles, 8 case reports. 2. Classification of 17 original articles into three categories; 10 experimental studies, 7 descriptive studies, 0 analytic study. 3. Method of Evaluation; Korean Acne Grading System(KAGS) is used frequently in descriptive studies and experimental studies. 4. Treatment in Case reports; 7 Case reports used External medical treatments. Conclusions : It is needed to develop the methods of grading system in acne related to Oriental medicine to obtain objectivity of studies. The number of analytic study, clinical trial and experimental study is need to increase.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine on olfactory disorders due to chronic sinusitis. Methods : Two patients with chronic sinusitis complaining of olfactory disturbances, nasal obstruction, and purulent discharge were treated with herbal medicines and acupuncture treatment. The nasal endoscopic examination and paranasal sinuses x-ray series (PNS x-ray) were performed. In addition, numeral rating scale (NRS) of olfactory disturbances and degrees of nasal obstruction and purulent discharge were evaluated. Results : In cases 1 and 2, NRS of olfactory disturbances decreased from 9 to 1. Nasal obstruction and purulent discharge decreased to no symptoms or intermittent level at moderate or severe level. The endoscopic findings and PNS x-ray findings were improved after treatments. Among various treatments of Korean medicine, Gamitonggyu-tang may play a crucial role in the reduction of sinusitis and olfactory disorders. Conclusions : This case report can be used as a basis for the use of Korean medicine, Gamitonggyu-tang, for olfactory disorder due to chronic sinusitis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a case of Korean medicine on acute radiation dermatitis. Methods : This study was conducted with an acute radiation dermatitis patient who hospitalized in ophthalmology, otolaryngology & dermatology clinic of Korean medical hospital. The patient was treated with Korean medicine including acupuncture, wet dressing, herbal ointment and phototherapy. We evaluated the patient's subject symptoms before and after treatment using the VAS scale and CTCAE. Results : The patient's subjective symptoms were improved after treatment. Conclusions : It is considered that Korean medicine could be applied to the treatment of acute radiation dermatitis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report three cases of Korean medical treatment for acute benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV). Methods : This study was conducted with three acute benign paroxysmal positional vertigo patients who hospit alized in Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology & Dermatology Clinic of Korean medical Hospital. Three patients were treated with Korean medical treatment including herbal medicine(Banhabaeckchulchunma-tang), acupuncture, p harmacopuncture(Hwangryunhaedok-tang). After treatment, we evaluated subjective symptoms. Results : The results of three patient showed remarkable improvements on subjective symptoms after the treatment. Conclusions : It is considered that Korean medical treatment can be applied to the treatment of BPPV.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report that Korean medical treatment is good for Dyshidrotic Eczema patient. Methods : This is 2 case reports on patient who has been suffering from Dyshidrotic Eczema. To reduce symptoms, we provided with internal herbal medicine Gagam-tongcheong-san 2 times a day, Wet Dressing by hwangryunhaedok-tang and acupuncture therapy. Results : After series of treatments, the symptoms of Dyshidrotic Eczema were remarkably improved. Conclusions : Gagam-tongcheong-san were effective for Dyshidrotic Eczema patients. Hence, more studies should be demanded in Korean medicine for elevation of treatment rate.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report three cases of Korean medical treatment for sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSHL). Methods : This study conducted with three sensorineural hearing loss patients who hospitalized in Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology & Dermatology Clinic of Korean Medical Hospital. Three patients were treated with herbal medicine(Sunkihwalhyeol-tang, Ikgibohyeol-tang, Gongjindan) and acupuncture. After treatment, we evaluated Siegel's Criteria with pure tone audiometry and subjective symptoms alteration. Results : All three patients were completely recovery about Siegel's Criteria and improved subjective symptoms after treatment. Conclusions : This study suggests that Korean medical treatment may be effective about SSHL.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report a case of idiopathic oculomotor nerve palsy improved by Korean Medicine therapy including needle-embedding therapy. Methods : We treated a 69-year old male patient who has Rt. ptosis, Rt. eye movement impairment, and dizziness with various Korean medical therapy including acupuncture, Bojungikgitanggami, and Hominis Placenta pharmacopuncture. To promote recovery, we additionally performed needle-embedding therapy to periocular acupoints. Results : Ptosis started to remarkably improve after performing needle-embedding therapy. After 54 days of treatment, ptosis and eye movement impairment of Rt. eye were significantly improved similar to the normal eye. Dizziness was cured in a few days after administration. Conclusions : This case suggests Korean medicine including needle-embedding therapy is effective against oculomotor nerve palsy symptoms especially for ptosis.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine Including SaengRyoSaMultang-Gamibang and Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture on the treatment of psoriasis. Methods : A patient with psoriasis was treated with SaengRyoSaMultang-Gamibang, Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture, Aroma therapy, Acupuncture. The severity of psoriasis was assessed with Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI). Results : After treatment, the patient showed that itching symptoms was disappeared and score of PASI changed from 23.4 to 2.9. Conclusions : According to the result, These findings suggest that Traditional Korean Medicine can be effective for the treatment of psoriasis.
