  • Owing to the nature of locality in mask layouts, it appears that most mask layout problems can be solved by transforming a part of the given mask layout into a better layout segment continuously toward a global suboptimal solution. This notion of local transformation addresses major weak points of existing mask layout processing systems, which lack both extensibility and unifiability. This paper attempts to elaborate upon developing a new rule-based mask layout transformation system wherein most of the mask layout problems can be solved under the unified framework of local mask layout transformation. The rule-based mask layout transformation system is applicable to various mask layout problems such as net extraction, mask layout compaction, mask layout editing, and design rule checking. The experimental results show that the rule-based expert system approach is an efficient means of solving those mask layout problems, and thus confronting major drawbacks of existing layout processing systems.

  • This study used text mining to analyze big data to understand consumers' demand for and perceptions of fashion masks. Based on the text-mining analysis results, a survey was conducted with those living in Korea to investigate the influence of consumers' mask selection criteria on mask brand awareness and purchase intention for fashion masks. "Fashion mask" and "functional mask" were used as the keywords in a text-mining analysis, and an online survey of 242 respondents was conducted. The analysis results were as follows: First, the text-mining analysis extracted commonly appearing words that had a high frequency and TF-IDF, such as "COVID-19," "fashion," "celebrity," "antibacterial," and "filter." This confirmed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers have demanded masks that are both functional and fashionable. Second, among consumers' mask selection criteria, trend and design had positive effects on face-mask brand awareness. Third, face-mask brand awareness had a positive effect on the purchase intention for both brand and fashion masks, and the purchase intention for brand masks had a positive effect on the purchase intention for fashion masks.

  • Thermal deformations of tension mask under localized heating are analyzed using finite element method and electron beam landing shifts are predicted by the analysis results. In CRT, electron beam landing shifts due to thermal deformations of the tension mask make the color purity of screen worse. In order to get the final results of thermal deformations, firstly the tension processes of the mask and following welding processes between the tensional mask and rail must be analyzed sequentially. And then, nonlinear transient thermo-elastic finite element analysis is performed on every part inside CRT including tension mask, wherein thermal radiation is a main heat transfer mechanism. Because the tension mask has numerous slits, the effective thermal conductivity and effective and effective elastic modulus is calculated, and the tension mask is modeled as a shell without slits. From the displacement results of tension mask, electron beam landing shifts is calculated directly. Experiments are performed to confirm our analysis results. Temperature distributions and beam landing shifts of tension mask are measured and the results are in good agreement with those of analyses.

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out the information needed to improve the shape and size suitability of face-applied mask sheets. The study analyzed the shape of the mask sheet from the scanned images of 50 products of 37 domestic brands. In addition, each measurement of 42 mask sheets were compared and analyzed multilaterally with the 3D measurement dimensions of the faces of men and women in their 20s from the 6th SizeKorea data. Analysis on the shapes of mask sheets indicated that domestic commercial mask sheets are mainly made of single or dual sheets, with slits for enhancing fitness to the three-dimensional face. In the dimensional analysis of Korean men, women and mask sheets, most of the lengths of the mask sheets were significantly larger or smaller than the actual faces of men and women. The horizontal length and vertical length of the forehead above the eyes are significantly shorter, thereby requiring adjustments in the dimensions of this area. In order to improve the size suitability of the mask, it is necessary to adjust the dimensions of the problem area according to the research results as well as diversify the dimensions considering the target layer.

  • The method of increasing signal to noise ratio (SNR) in a Hadamard transform spectrometer (HTS) is multiplexing. The multiplexing is executed by a mask. Conventional masks are mechanical or electro-optical. A mechanical mask has disadvantages of jamming and misalignment. A stationary electro-optical mask has a disadvantage of information losses caused by spacers which partition mask elements. In this paper, a mixed-concept electro-optical mask (MCEOM) is developed by expanding the length of a spacer to that of lon-off mask element. An MCEOM is operated by stepping a movable mask. 2N measurements are required for N spectrum estimates. The average mean square error (AMSE) using MCEQM is equal to that using a stationary electro-optical mask without spacers for large N. The cost of manufacturing an MCEOM is lower than that of producing a conventional electro-optical mask because an MCEOM needs only (N + 1)/2 on-off mask elements whereas the con¬ventional electro-optical mask needs N on-off mask elements. There are no information losses in the spectrometers having an MCEOM.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the difference in mask filters on the respiration rate of healthy people. Design: A randomized cross-over design. Methods: A total of 15 subjects were selected for this study (n=15). After filling out the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire, the selected participants abstained from caffeinated beverages and meals 30 minutes before and sat in a chair 10 minutes before stabilizing their breathing. Afterwards, the lung function test was performed 3 times for each mask, and the maximum value was used. The provided masks were Mask Free, Dental Mask, KF80, and KF94. Exhalation was measured for 6 seconds for each mask, and breathing was stabilized by repeating inhalation and exhalation until the next time. Results: In this study, the difference in respiratory function according to the mask type was statistically significant except for FEV1 and FVC (p<0.05). As a result of post-hoc analysis, FVC, FEV1, PEF, and FEF values were significantly lower than those of the control group not wearing a mask (p<0.05). When wearing KF94, FVC, FEV1, PEF25-25%, and FEF were significantly lower than when wearing a dental mask (p<0.05). When wearing a KF80 mask, it was significantly lower in FVC and FEV1 than when wearing a dental mask (p<0.05). In FEV1/FVC, the difference by mask type was not statistically significant (p<0.05), but it was lower than the spirometry standard of COPD patients (FEV1/FVC<0.7). Conclusions: As Now that wearing a mask is essential, it has been confirmed that the mask affects the respiratory rate. Therefore, in the case of healthy adults, it is recommended to rest after wearing a mask if attention deficit or headache occurs. People with low breathing capacity are recommended to have low-intensity activities and frequent rest periods after wearing a mask.

  • We have developed a nanoparticle focusing mask which can generate particle arrays directly on the large area with high resolution. Using this mask, nanomaterials are precisely deposited onto desired positions on a substrate surface. We obtained various sizes of arrays ranging from 80 nm to 6 ${\mu}m$ with silver and copper nanoparticles that are generated by a spark discharge and an evaporation-condensation method. The feather size is much smaller than that of mask openings due to the focusing effects, like electrostatic lens, caused by charge or electric potential on insulator mask surface, which also prevent a mask clogging. The particle array size depends on the size of mask open patterns and focusing effects near the mask relate to ion flow rate and electric potential. We have demonstrated that diverse size of arrays with high resolution could be obtained repeatedly using the same sized mask in atmosphere.

  • We have grown GaN layers with in-situ SiN mask by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD) and study the physical properties of the GaN layer. We have also investigate the effect of the SiN mask on its optical property. By inserting a SiN mask, (102) the full width at half maximum(FWHM) decreased from 480 arcsec to 409 arcsec. The PL intensity of GaN with SiN mask improved 2 times to that without SiN mask. We have thus shown that the SiN mask improved significantly the physical and optical properties of the GgN layer.

  • This research provides practical data to develop UV protection masks and dust protection masks. It surveyed uncomfortable factors and significant characteristics for masks. It used 653 subjects 20-79 years old and performed the research from April to May in 2014. Wearing masks at outdoor activities is not widely popular yet, but golf players, mountaineers and old people were quite interested in masks. People mainly wore a basic shape mask, but main age group of each mask shape was different. People usually prioritized the protection function and comfort of wearing over design; however, women, young generation and people attending to outdoor activities longer than 1 hour considered design quite important. People going on picnic or camping consider mask characteristics most important. Therefore, various mask shapes and protective functions should be developed to reflect consumer needs. Meanwhile, the discomfort levels of masks were not too high, but old people felt more discomfort than young people. The most discomfort factors were 'other's eye', 'distracting face movement' and 'feeling of foreign object'. They also mentioned falling problem of C shape mask and short-rib shape mask, and asked for a 'tighter fit' at the ear.
