In order to examine the effects of advanced periodontitis on the dental pulps, 38 extracted human teeth were examined histologically. The 38 teeth had a positive or negative state in the electric pulp test(EPT). In addition, almost of the 38 teeth had a deep pocket and severe mobility, and floating state. A medical and dental history was elicited. The extracted teeth fixed in 10% neutral formalin solution. The general tissue processing method was followed. The tissue block including the teeth was prepared for optical microscopy using hematoxillin-eosin staining. Among the 38 periodontally involved teeth, the dental pulps were respectively intact in 12(31%), and a pulp stone(or linear calcifications) was found in 18 teeeth(47%). In addition, 17 teeth(44%) had pulps exhibiting inflammatory reactions with varying intensities, such as hyperemia, pulp abscess, pulp necrosis. Among the 38 periodontally involved teeth, 37 teeth tested a positive to the EPT, and 7 teeth tested negative. The EPT positive 37 teeth had various histological features such as 7 normal pulp(18%), 17 pulp stone(44%), 1 hyperemia (2%), 9 pulpitis(23%), 5 root resorption(13%), 3 pulp abscess(7%), and 3 pulp necrosis(7%), In conclusion, it is suggested that in the EPT positive teeth, advanced periodontally involved teeth can cause inflammation of the dental pulp.
PURPOSE. To determine the shear bond strengths of different denture base resins to different types of prefabricated teeth (acrylic, nanohybrid composite, and cross-linked) and denture teeth produced by computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Prefabricated teeth and CAD/CAM (milled) denture teeth were divided into 10 groups and bonded to different denture base materials. Groups 1-3 comprised of different types of prefabricated teeth and cold-polymerized denture base resin; groups 4-6 comprised of different types of prefabricated teeth and heat-polymerized denture base resin; groups 7-9 comprised of different types of prefabricated teeth and CAD/CAM (milled) denture base resin; and group 10 comprised of milled denture teeth produced by CAD/CAM technology and CAD/CAM (milled) denture base resin. A universal testing machine was used to evaluate the shear bond strength for all specimens. One-way ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc test were used for analyzing the data (α=.05). RESULTS. The shear bond strengths of different groups ranged from 3.37 ± 2.14 MPa to 18.10 ± 2.68 MPa. Statistical analysis showed significant differences among the tested groups (P<.0001). Among different polymerization methods, the lowest values were determined in cold-polymerized resin. There was no significant difference between the shear bond strength values of heat-polymerized and CAD/CAM (milled) denture base resins. CONCLUSION. Different combinations of materials for removable denture base and denture teeth can affect their bond strength. Cold-polymerized resin should be avoided for attaching prefabricated teeth to a denture base. CAD/CAM (milled) and heat-polymerized denture base resins bonded to different types of prefabricated teeth show similar shear bond strength values.

Objectives: Regenerative endodontic treatment is a clinical procedure aimed at biologically regenerating damaged root canal tissue of immature permanent teeth. This study aimed to report the outcomes of regenerative endodontic treatment performed by endodontic postgraduate students. Materials and Methods: Clinical and radiographic data of 27 patients, aged 10-22 years, who underwent regenerative treatment of immature permanent teeth from 2015 to 2019 were followed up, wherein clinical and radiographic examinations were performed for each patient. Postoperative success rate and tooth survival were analyzed, and the postoperative radiographic root area changes were quantified. Results: A total of 23 patients attended the dental appointments, showing that all teeth survived and were asymptomatic. Specifically, 7 periapical pathosis cases were completely healed, 12 were incompletely healed, and 4 cases failed. Moreover, significant differences were found between discolored and non-discolored teeth, and between the presence or absence of periapical radiolucency. Additionally, 3 anterior teeth showed complete closure of the apical foramen, while the apical foramen width was reduced in 17 teeth and failed in 3 teeth. Root length was also found to have been increased in 7 anterior and 4 posterior teeth, and the average length ranged from 4.00-0.63 mm in the anterior teeth, 2.85-1.48 mm of the mesial root, and 2.73-2.16 mm of the molar teeth distal root. Furthermore, calcified tissue deposition was observed in 7 teeth. Conclusions: A favorable outcome of regenerative endodontic treatment of immature permanent teeth with necrotic pulp was achieved with a high survival rate.
Successful treatment of a badly broken down tooth with pulpal disease depends not only on good endodontic therapy, but also on good prosthetic reconstruction of the tooth after endodontic therapy is completed. The ideal treatment of endodontically treated teeth has been widely and controversially discussed. Endocrown is a restorative option for endodontically treated teeth. Endocrown design incorporates the core and short post into the crown as a single restoration. The preparation of endocrown consists of a circular equigingival butt-joint margin and central retention cavity of the entire pulp chamber instead of employing intraradicular posts. This design significantly increases the surface area of the preparation available for cementation. It is particularly useful in young patient teeth for long-term provisional restoration and in teeth with short clinical crowns. This technique represents a promising and conservative method for the treatment of endodontically treated teeth that require long-term protection and stability. Endocrown can be considered as a feasible alternative to full crowns or composite overlays for the restoration of non vital teeth.

The purpose of the present investigation is to determine how frequently radiopaque zones are seen on standard intraoral films and to research some other things about radiopaque zones. This study obtained the following results: 1. According to the standard intraoral films of the charts that were kept at the Dept. of Oral Diagnosis in Seoul National University Hospital, radiopaque zones were found in the rate of 4.1% among 1150 cases of amalgam-restored teeth that were treated at least two years ago. 2. Out of teeth that possessed radiopaque zones, 38.3% had radiolucent area between amalgam restoration and radiopaque zone. 3. Out of teeth that possessed radiopaque zones, 36.2% had cement base between amalgam restoration and radiopaque zone. 4. Out of teeth that possessed radiopaque zones, no tooth had periapical radiolucency. 5. Radiopaque zones were found more frequently in the mandibular teeth than the maxillary teeth. 6. According to the result of direct x-ray taking of 50 teeth that were treated at least 2 years ago, 6% had radiopaque zone.

To find the tooth selectivity of the dredge for catching the ark shell Scapharca broughtonii, the probabilities of the ark shells which are not sifting through the gaps between teeth were calculated for the various shell lengths. Considering that these probabilities are in proportion to the relative catching efficiencies, selectivity curves for the ark shell dredge were estimated for the various gaps between teeth. The ratio of the shell length of ark shell to the distance between teeth indicating the relative catching efficiencies of 0%, 50%, 100% respectively, were calculated by using these selectivity curves, and the values were 1.00, 1.32, 1.54 in the distance of 4.0cm between teeth and then, the ratios showed a slight tendency to decrease as the distance between teeth increased in the relative catching efficiency of 100%, In addition, the range of shell length for catching, that is, the range of selective shell length by the distance between teeth was 0.54 in the distance of 4.0cm between teeth.

The study was performed to investigate the thickness of lamina dura of the human teeth in normal condition, which obtained from the intraoral roentgenograms of the 1200 cases taken by bisecting technique. All films were divided into the different ages, the different sexes, and the different location of the different teeth. The obtained results were as follows: 1. With advancing age in both sexes, the lamina dura tends to become thinner as following. (equation omitted) 2. Generally, the alveolar crest is the thickest among the root surfaces, and apex, midroot followed, and the average thickness of the posterior teeth is thicker than that of the anterior teeth. 3. The mean value of the whole maxillary teeth is larger than the one of the whole mandibular teeth. 4. On the whole cases, the differences of male and female is about 0.019㎜, which is not a significant differences.
970 children visited attached hospital, S.N.U, were taken orthopantomograph. Of those children, there were 14 patients who have primary fused teeth. The author observed those cases and got following results.
1) Incidence of primary fused teeth was higher in female.
2) In the order of frequency, fused teeth of mandibular right primary lateral incisor and canine were 9 and that of mandibular left primary lateral incisor and canine were 4, and there was only one case in maxillary.
3) 13 cases showed the congenital absence of lateral incisor of the corresponding permanent teeth.
4) Incidence of fused teeth was 1.44%.
This clinical study was to analyze occlusal contacts in maximum intercuspation on distal extension partial denture and to compare tooth contact state between the denture teeth and abutment teeth by time mode and force mode using the T-scan system. The subjects ware twenty-one adult patients with upper natural teeth and lower distal extension partial denture. Conclusion : 1. The patient with simultaneous occlusal contacts both denture tooth and abutment and bilaterally in Kennedy Class I cases was one-sixth, but there was no one with symmetric occlusal and equal force among bilateral denture teeth and abutments. 2. The five-fifteenth of Kennedy Class I case patients resulted in simultaeous occlusal contacts bet-ween denture teeth and abutments but no one has the symmetric occlusal contacts and unifarm force between denture teeth and abutment teeth.
To compare the wear resistance of four kinds of commercial acrylic resin teeth [SR-Orthosit PosterioresR(Ivoclar Co., Liechtenstein), Endura PosteriorR(Shofu Inc. Japan), trubyte IPN teethR(Dentsply International Inc., York,), Trubyte BiotoneR(dentsply Inermational Inc. Brazil) by means of the toothbrush abrasion method, the artificial resin teeth were embedded in epoxy resin with the occlusal surfaces aligned in one plane for a total of 40 blocks. There after, each lock was mounted in the arm of the toothbrush abrasion machine(K 236, Japan). Wear measurements were made on the three preconditioned states. Those were as follows : no treatment specimens, thermocycled specimens, and thermocycled specimens which were immeresed applied load of 400g during the buring the brushing cycle. At the end of the 30,000-stroke cycle, each specimen was removed, and weighed. The microhardness of four kinds of commercial resin teeth were determined by means of microhardness tester. Microhardness tests were performed on te no treatment specimens, thermocycled specimens, and thermocycled specimens with immersion in the denture cleansing solution. Finally, the comparison of thermal properties were perfomed using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC-1500). The following results were obtained : 1. In the case of no treatment teeth, the wear amount of endura Posterior(EN) was the greatest among the others(p<0.01), and the wear amount of three kinds of artificial resin teeth was increased in the order of Trubyte IPN teeth(IN), Trubyte Biotone(BN), SR-Orthosit Posteriores(SN) but there was no statistic significance(p>0.01). 2. The wear amount of Trubyte IPN teeth(IT) and Trubyte Biotone(BT), was increased due to thermocycling effect, but that of Endura Posteriores(ET) was decreased conversely(p<0.01). 3. Except for the SR-Orthosit Posteriores(STC), the wear amount of three kinds of artificial resing teeth(that is, ETC, ITC, BTC) was increased due to denture cleansing solution$(Cledent^R)$, but there was no statistic significance(p>0.01). But the wear amount of the SR-Orthosit Posteriores(STC) was the greatest among the others(p<0.01). 4. The wear amount of toothbrush was the greatest in case of contact with occlusal surface of SROrthosit Posteriores resin teeth(p<0.01). 5. the microhardness values(KHN) of the SR-Orthosit Posteriores was the highest among the experimental artificial resin teeth(p<0.01). 6. There was no relationship between microhardness valuse(KHN) and wear amount of four kinds of experimental artificial resin teeth(p<0.01). 7. The differential canning calorimetric property of four kinds of artificial resin teeth did not show endothermal or exothermal peak in the range of $100^{\circ}C$
