This study aims to contribute to the early detection of occupational fraud in the Korean financial industry by analyzing fraud symptoms. Firstly, the definition, cause of occupational fraud, and fraud symptoms were discussed through literature review. Secondly, survey data were collected from the employees of the financial industry such as bank, insurance, and securities companies to conduct statistical analysis. The result of analysis showed that the symptoms of 'excessive stock investment' and 'unsettled life style' were statistically significant predictors of fraud detection experience. Plus, 'tips and complaints' were the most frequent method for detecting occupational fraud in the Korean financial industry. The financial institutions can minimize the loss of occupational fraud by early detection through educating their employees and vendors on these important symptoms of occupational fraud.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the decline in quality of life (QOL) by examining changes in the employment status of workers who had completed medical treatment after an industrial accident. Methods: This study utilized the Panel Study of Worker's Compensation Insurance cohort (published in October 2020) containing a sample survey of 3,294 occupationally injured workers who completed medical care in 2017. We divided this population into four groups according to changes in working status. A multivariate logistic regression model was utilized for evaluating QOL decline by adjusting for the basic characteristics and working environment at the time of accident. Subgroup analysis evaluated whether QOL decline differed according to disability grade and industry group. Results: The QOL decline in the "maintained employment," "employed to unemployed," "remained unemployed," and "unemployed to employed" groups were 15.3%, 28.1%, 20.2%, and 11.9%, respectively. The "maintained employment" group provided a reference. As a result of adjusting for the socioeconomic status and working environment, the odds ratios (ORs) of QOL decline for the "employed to unemployed" group and the "remained unemployed" group were 2.13 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.51-3.01) and 1.47 (95% CI, 1.13-1.90), respectively. The "unemployed to employed" group had a non-significant OR of 0.76 (95% CI, 0.54-1.07). Conclusions: This study revealed that continuous unemployment or unstable employment negatively affected industrially injured workers' QOL. Policy researchers and relevant ministries should further develop and improve "return to work" programs that could maintain decent employment avenues within the workers' compensation system.
In Korea, little is known about unemployment duration and exit rate from unemployment. This paper empirically examines the duration of unemployment using data for the years 1996 and 1997 on unemployed individuals who are eligible for unemployment insurance benefits in Korea. A parametric survival model (log-normal model) is adopted to identify factors predicting transitions to reemployment. Factors that affect unemployment duration are sex, age, employment duration (year), prior salary, region, prior employment industry, cause of unemployment, officially determined unemployment benefit duration, degree of benefit exhaustion, and amount of benefits for early reemployment. However, education is not statistically significant In degree of benefit exhaustion, the exit rate from unemployment decreases as benefit exhaustion is approached. In amount of benefits for early reemployment, the exit rate from unemployment increases as amount of benefits increases. Hazards for reemployment gradually increase until 80 days after unemployment and gradually decrease in the following period. Thus, we find that distribution of hazards for reemployment has log-normal shapes between inverted U and inverted L This paper takes advantage of a unique analysis about unemployment duration and exit rate from unemployment in the Korean Unemployment Insurance system which functions as the most valuable social safely-net mechanism in the recent national economic crisis. Indeed, this paper provides a basic knowledge about realities of unemployed individuals in the Unemployment Insurance system and identifies research areas that require further study.
Objectives : There have been few studies examining the differences in health care utilization across social classes during the last year of life. Therefore, in this study we analyzed the quantitative and qualitative differences in health care utilization among cancer patients across educational classes in their last year of life, and derived from it implications for policy. Methods : To evaluate health care utilization by cancer patients in the last year of life, Death certificate data from 2004 were merged with National Health Insurance data (n=60,088). In order to use educational level as a social class index, we selected the individuals aged 40 and over as study subjects (n=57,484). We analyzed the differences in the medical expenditures, admission days, and rates of admission experience across educational classes descriptively. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the association between medical expenditures and independent variables such as sex, age, education class, site of death and type of cancer. Results : The upper educational class spent much more on medical expenditures in the last one year of life, particularly during the last month of life, than the lower educational class did. The ratio of monthly medical expenditures per capita between the college class and no education class was 2.5 in the last 6-12 months of life, but the ratio was 1.6 in the last 1 month. Also, the lower the educational class, the higher the proportion of medical expenditures during the last one month of life, compared to total medical expenditures in the last one year of life. The college educational class had a much higher rate of admission experiences in tertiary hospitals within Seoul than the other education classes did. Conclusions : This study shows that the lower educational classes had qualitative and quantitative disadvantages in utilizing health care services for cancer in the last year of life.

Medical tourism is a newly-prevailing industry accompanied by the change of lifestyle to a health-seeking life in the 21st century, which not only attracts foreigners using high-end medical technologies and equipments but also linking recuperation and leisure and cultural activities to the tour. many chinese tourists enter seeking both medical and tourism purposes. However, since the system for medical tourism is not well supported and there is no medical insurance for Chinese people, it is necessary to link safe hospitals and guides for these Chinese people and to develop systems that will provide proper information to Chinese people. This paper will introduce and propose a medical tour service system which effectively links hospitals, chinese tourists and brokers.
Objectives: To understand experiences of daily life and Korean medicine treatment process and perspectives of caregivers caring for children with tic disorder. Methods: A semi-structured interview was conducted with caregivers of patients under 13 years who were experiencing Korean medicine treatment for tic disorder. A total of five participants were interviewed. The analysis was performed according to a four-step phenomenological method. Results: The following four components were derived from the experience of caring for children with tic disorder: general perception of tics, negative emotions caused by tics, social deprivation, and living with a child with tics. The following four components were derived from Korean medicine treatment experience for tic disorders: criteria for selecting treatment, awareness of Korean medicine, treatment experience in Korean medicine, and what needs to be improved. Conclusions: According to results of this study, caregivers caring for children with tic disorder experienced negative emotions such as frustration, guilt, and anxiety. They also experienced social deprivation such as stigma and prejudice. Korean medicine treatment can be an effective alternative for improving symptoms of tic disorders. The application of insurance benefits to Korean medicine is needed for patients and caregivers to autonomously choose treatment.
This study aims to compare the role of the public sector in the U.S. and Korean medical security systems and study response measures in the social risk situation of the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 pandemic was a typical case of a 'disaster' that spread across the world across borders in a short period of time and caused serious social welfare losses by increasing the annual number of deaths by approximately 4% in 2020. Threats to health security, such as changes in social order, unpredictable endings, prolonged control of daily life, and deepening inequality, affected the economy, politics, and environment as a whole, and people had to experience anxiety and confusion due to mental and physical stress. Furthermore, developed countries failed to provide help to low-income countries in the face of global disasters. In this situation, the country's disaster management capacity to minimize harm and secure resilience, especially disaster response capacity in the health and medical field, is inevitably very important. Therefore, this study compares how the health insurance system, which is a system to guarantee citizens' right to life, differs from the United States, a liberal health care country, and raises the need to strengthen the role of the public sector.

Objective : This study was to apply a cognitive rehabilitation group program based on sensory activity in patients with dementia living in a facility and to check its effectiveness on cognitive function, depression, and quality of life (QOL). Methods : Sensory-based cognitive rehabilitation group programs (20 sessions) were conducted for eight elderly with dementia over the age of 65 living in a nursing facility located in H-gun, Gangwon-do. The participants' cognitive function, depression level, and QOL were evaluated before and after the program. Results : The mean of Mini-Mental State Examination-Dementia Screening increased; however, there was no statistically significant difference. In contrast, the mean post-test score of the Subjective Memory Complaints Questionnaire decreased, and there was a statistically significant difference (p < .05). The mean post-evaluation score of Short Geriatric Depression Scale measured to confirm the decrease in depression compared to the pre-evaluation score, but there was no statistically significant difference. Finally, the mean post-evaluation score of the World Health Organization QOL assessment instrument-Brief confirmed the change in the QOL, and there was a statistically significant difference (p < .001). Conclusion : This study will provide the basis for suggesting the usefulness of developing a sensory activity-based cognitive rehabilitation group program for dementia patients living in facilities.
Health is an important issue due to increased life expectancy. As a result, the demand for industry and services associated with individual health, health-related programs and services will be facilitated by a method to evaluate and classify the health level of an individual based on various factors. This study suggests a methodology to measure and score an individual health level. A credit scoring model was introduced to implement the categorization of variables, construct a prediction model, and to score individual health level. Cohort DB provided by National Health Insurance Service was used to illustrate overall procedures. It is expected that the suggested model can be utilized in designing and managing health care services as well as other health-related programs.
