  • This paper reviews some methods on evaluating the impacts of low input farming on profitability, environments and human health. Measuring diverse effects of low input farming on the environmental economic aspects of agriculture poses a challenge because of difficulty in placing the objective value judgement on those impacts. This Study attempts to identify the individual attributes of low input agriculture and to examine the method of consturcting a simple index after assessing its marketed or non-marketed values in numerical terms. Validity of integrating socio-economic value of low input agriculture, which might be measured by multiple criteria approach, into a single index can be criticized. However, it might be meaningful in that this study suggest the guidance for how to assess the environmental and economic value of low input agriculture by single criteria and the possibility of overcoming the controversial subjectivity in weighing the different impact criteria.

  • In this paper, a wide input range active multi-pulse rectifier for utility interface of power electronic converters is proposed. The scheme combines multi-pulse method using a V-A transformer and boost rectifier modules. A current control scheme for the rectifier modules is proposed to achieve sinusoidal line currents in the utility input over a wide input range of input voltage and output load conditions. A design example is included for a 208V to 460V input, $700V_{dc}$ do 10kW output rectifier system. Simulation results are shown.

  • We have done the input-output analysis to see the over all impact of flounder industry of Jeju region on the domestic economy of Korea. To do the input-output analysis, we have constructed the data set for the input-output table by using the existing data set in the "2003 input- output table of Jeju regional area" published by the joint work of Jeju branch of Korea bank and the Jeju Development Institute, together with some raw data provided by Jejudo Marine Fish-Culture Cooperative. We have also produced input coefficient of flounder industry by making flounder industrial sector exogenous, separated from intermediate demand. To summarize our empirical results, the inducement effect of production, value added, and employment of Jeju flounder aquaculture industry are 300 billion won, 116 billion won and 1,800 people respectively. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest flounder industry of Jeju region contributes powerfully to not only Jeju economy but also all over the Korea economy.

  • Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) converters consisting of multiple modular DC/DC converters can enable low voltage rating switches to be used under high voltage input applications. This paper presents a digital control strategy, which can achieve equal sharing of input voltage for a modular ISOP system consisting of two-transistor forward DC/DC converters by forcing the input voltages of neighboring modules to be equal. The proposed scheme is analyzed using small signals analysis based on the state space average method. The performance of the proposed control strategy is verified with an experimental prototype of an ISOP converter made up of three two-switch forward converters.

  • Power factor improved for single-phase buck-converter is studied in the paper. To sinusoidal waveform the input current with a near-unity power factor over a wide variety of operating conditions, the output capacitor is operated with voltage reversibility for the supply by arranging the auxiliary diode and power switching device. Then the output voltage is superposed on the input voltage during on time duration of power switching devices in order to minimize the input current distortion caused by the small input voltage when changing the polarity. The tested setup, using two insulated gate bipolar transistors(IGBT) and a microcomputer, is implemented and IGBT are switched with 20[kHz], which is out of the audible band. Moreover, a rigorous state-space analysis is introduced to predict the operation of the rectifier. The simulated results confirm that the input current can be sinusoidal waveform with a near-unity power factor and a satisfactory output voltage regulation can be achieved.

  • This paper proposes a primary side constant power control scheme for TRIAC dimmer compatible LED drivers. The LED driver is a Flyback converter operated in boundary conduction mode (BCM) to minimize the switching loss. With the proposed control scheme, the input power of the Flyback converter can be controlled by the TRIAC dimming angle, which is not affected by AC input voltage variations. Since the output voltage is almost constant for LED loads, the output current can be changed by controlling the input power with a given conversion efficiency. The isolated feedback circuit is eliminated with the proposed primary side control scheme, which dramatically simplifies the whole circuit. In addition, the input current automatically follows the input voltage due to the BCM operation, and the resistive input characteristic can be achieved which is attractive for TRIAC dimming applications. Experimental results from a 15W prototype verify the theoretical analysis.

  • Statisticians, or data miners, are often requested to assess the importances of input variables in the given supervised learning model. For the purpose, one may rely on separate ad hoc measures depending on modeling types, such as linear regressions, the neural networks or trees. Consequently, the conceptual consistency in input variable importance measures is lacking, so that the measures cannot be directly used in comparing different types of models, which is often done in data mining processes, In this short communication, we propose a unified approach to the importance measurement of input variables. Our method uses sensitivity analysis which begins by perturbing the values of input variables and monitors the output change. Research scope is limited to the models for continuous output, although it is not difficult to extend the method to supervised learning models for categorical outcomes.

  • Owing to the spread of smart devices using touch screen, the Korean language (Hangul) input methods have been varied. In this paper, we have researched and analyzed for finding the best input way of Hangul, which is appropriate to smart devices. By using automata theory, we have suggested easy and efficient automata. The automata, which we suggested, can be used in a Hangul input of gesture type.

  • In superconductive digital logic circuits, D2 cells can be used to compose a decoder an important component of an Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU). In this wor, we simulated D2 cell by using WRspice. D2 cell has one input, one switch input, and two outputs (output1 and output2). D2 cell functions in such way that output1 follows the input and output2 is the complement of the input data, when the switch input is "0, ". However, when there is a switch input "1, " the opposite output signals are generated. In this paper, we optimized a D2 cell by using WRspice, and obtained the minimum margin of 26%. Our optimized D2 cell will play a key role in the ALU fabrication.the ALU fabrication.

  • The mechanical and microstructural properties in high heat input welds of home-made SM 50 high strength steels were investigated and compared with the manual shielded metal arc welds. Also, the fracture toughnesses of the simulated weld-bonds with various thermal cycles were quantatively examined in order to provide the basic data for further development of the high strength steels for high input welding. Main results obtained are as follows. (1) The embrittlement degree and the coarse grained region in high heat input welds appear to be extraordinarily large compared with the manual shielded metal arc welds, while the difference in change of nicrohardness is not so large in both welds. (2) The embrittleness in high heat input weld-bonds is mainly affected by the size of coarse grain rather than the microstructure. (3) The fracture toughness in high heat input weld-bonds can be improved by controlling the cooling rate from 800.deg.C to 500.deg.C rapidly.
