  • In this paper, the comparison of speech feature parameters for emotion recognition is studied for emotion recognition using speech signal. For this purpose, a corpus of emotional speech data recorded and classified according to the emotion using the subjective evaluation were used to make statical feature vectors such as average, standard deviation and maximum value of pitch and energy. MFCC parameters and their derivatives with or without cepstral mean subfraction are also used to evaluate the performance of the conventional pattern matching algorithms. Pitch and energy Parameters were used as a Prosodic information and MFCC Parameters were used as phonetic information. In this paper, In the Experiments, the vector quantization based emotion recognition system is used for speaker and context independent emotion recognition. Experimental results showed that vector quantization based emotion recognizer using MFCC parameters showed better performance than that using the Pitch and energy parameters. The vector quantization based emotion recognizer achieved recognition rates of 73.3% for the speaker and context independent classification.

  • Emotion recognition between human and human is done compositely using various features that are face, voice, gesture and etc. Among them, it is a face that emotion expression is revealed the most definitely. Human expresses and recognizes a emotion using complex and various features of the face. This paper proposes hybrid feature extraction for emotions recognition from facial expression. Hybrid feature extraction imitates emotion recognition system of human by combination of geometrical feature based extraction and color distributed histogram. That is, it can robustly perform emotion recognition by extracting many features of facial expression.

  • In this paper, the speech parameter fusion method is studied to improve the performance of the conventional emotion recognition system. For this purpose, the combination of the parameters that show the best performance by combining the cepstrum parameters and the various pitch parameters used in the conventional emotion recognition system are selected. Various pitch parameters were generated using numerical and statistical methods using pitch of speech. Performance evaluation was performed on the emotion recognition system using Gaussian mixture model(GMM) to select the pitch parameters that showed the best performance in combination with cepstrum parameters. As a parameter selection method, sequential feature selection method was used. In the experiment to distinguish the four emotions of normal, joy, sadness and angry, fifteen of the total 56 pitch parameters were selected and showed the best recognition performance when fused with cepstrum and delta cepstrum coefficients. This is a 48.9% reduction in the error of emotion recognition system using only pitch parameters.

  • Today, 'Emotion' has come to stay as a powerful culture code. Though there has been not a few research results based on the recognition of the importance of emotion, the concept of 'Emotion' still differs according not only to researchers but also to the fields. There firstly lies the aim of this study to research the moaning and feature of 'Emotion' through John Dewey's Theory of Experience. Secondly, this study tries to categorize the strata of emotion in space, and further tries to present the methodology for the study of emotion shown in the space. Emotion is the impulse corresponding to the root force drawing out indefinite situations into the context of the problem, and is also the force which integrates all the elements in the process of reflective correlation. Emotion can be referred to as the activating and combining force which makes it possible for the separate elements to be related to the whole as one, and as the feature forming the completion of the transaction between organisms and environment.

  • In this paper, we propose the neural network based emotion recognition method for intelligently recognizing the human's emotion using vision system. In the proposed method, human's emotion is divided into four emotion (surprise, anger, happiness, sadness). Also, we use R,G,B(red, green, blue) color image data and the gray image data to get the highly trust rate of feature point extraction. For this, we propose an algorithm to extract four feature points (eyebrow, eye, nose, mouth) from the face image acquired by the color CCD camera and find some feature vectors from those. And then we apply back-prapagation algorithm to the secondary feature vector(position and distance among the feature points). Finally, we show the practical application possibility of the proposed method.

  • Speech emotion recognition, which aims to classify speaker's emotional states through speech signals, is one of the essential tasks for making Human-machine interaction (HMI) more natural and realistic. Voice expressions are one of the main information channels in interpersonal communication. However, existing speech emotion recognition technology has not achieved satisfactory performances, probably because of the lack of effective emotion-related features. This paper provides a survey on various features used for speech emotional recognition and discusses which features or which combinations of the features are valuable and meaningful for the emotional recognition classification. The main aim of this paper is to discuss and compare various approaches used for feature extraction and to propose a basis for extracting useful features in order to improve SER performance.

  • Music emotion recognition is currently one of the most attractive research areas in music information retrieval. In order to use emotion as clues when searching for a particular music, several music based emotion recognizing systems are fundamentally utilized. In order to maximize user satisfaction, the recognition accuracy is very important. In this paper, we develop a new music emotion recognition system, which employs a multilabel feature selector and multilabel classifier. The performance of the proposed system is demonstrated using novel musical emotion data.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective emotion feature extraction method for Korean and evaluate their availability in sentiment classification. Korean emotion features are expanded from several representative emotion words and they play an important role in building in an effective sentiment classification system. Firstly, synonym information of English word thesaurus is used to extract effective emotion features and then the extracted English emotion features are translated into Korean. To evaluate the extracted Korean emotion features, we represent each document using the extracted features and classify it using SVM(Support Vector Machine). In experimental results, the sentiment classification system using the extracted Korean emotion features obtained more improved performance(14.1%) than the system using content-words based features which have generally used in common text classification systems.

  • In this paper, we propose the technique for recognizing the human s emotion by using the CCD color image. To do this, we first get the face image by using skin-color from the original color image acquired by the CCD camera. And we propose the method for finding man s feature points(eyebrows, eye, nose, mouse) from the face image and the geometrical method for recognizing human s emotion (surprise, anger, happiness, sadness) from the structural correlation of man s feature feints. The proposed method in this paper recognize the human s emotion by learning the neural network. Finally, we have proven the effectiveness of the Proposed method through the experimentation.
