The Code of Ethics for APEC Engineer (APEC ENGINEER 윤리강령)

  • Korea APEC ENGINEER Monitoring Committee had announced the Code of Ethics for APEC ENGINEER in Oct. 1999. Korea APEC ENGINEER REGISTER had included the ethical model of APEC ENGINEER as required essential subject to be lectured for continuing professional development. The code of ethic is necessary for the benefit of the engineers themselves. The code of ethic is necessary for the benefit of the engineers themselves. The comparison between Korean code of ethics and Australian code of ethics shows that Australian gives more points to the Engineer's role to protect the safety of the public. Korea has too many laws regulating the engineers'practice, which can be handled by the cede of ethics. From now on, we, engineers should pay more attentions to the code of engineer's ethics and establish new and best model of ethics by enough discussion.

Australian Seismic Code for Unreinforced Masonry (호주의 비보강 조적조에 대한 내진기준)

  • This paper provides an overview of the unreinforced masonry in Australian Standard, especially places the focus on a seismic code. Australia, like Korea, is a country of lower seismicity, and strengthens the code of unreinforced masonry since Newcastle earthquake of magnitude 5.6 in 1989. It is useful in establishing Korean code for unreinforced masonry to compare Australian Standard to Korean.

Closed-code-conversion: Transforming Open Code Multi-staged Programs into Closed Ones (다단계 프로그램에서 프로그램 생성 단계의 자유변수 제거)

  • We present a transformation which converts open-code multi-staged programs into closed ones. Staged computation, which explicitly divides a computation into separate stages, is a unifying framework for existing program generation systems. Because a multi-staged program generates another program, which can also generate a third program and on, the implementation of a multi-staged language is not straightforward. Dynamic binding of (lexically free) variables in code also makes the implementation of a multi-staged language hard. By converting each code into code of function which takes environment for free variables as its argument and giving an actual environment at the code-composition site, we can transform a open-code program into a closed-code one. Combining with Davies and Pfenning's method, our closed-code-conversion enables the implementation of the unstaged language to be useful for executing multi-staged programs. We also prove the correctness of our conversion: the converted program is equivalent to the original program, and the converted program does not have open code.

AJFCode: An Approach for Full Aspect-Oriented Code Generation from Reusable Aspect Models

  • Model-driven engineering (MDE) and aspect-oriented software development (AOSD) contribute to the common goal of development of high-quality code in reduced time. To complement each approach with the benefits of the other, various methods of integration of the two approaches were proposed in the past. Aspect-oriented code generation, which targets obtaining aspect-oriented code directly from aspect models, offers some unique advantages over the other integration approaches. However, the existing aspect-oriented code generation approaches do not comprehensively address all aspects of a model-driven code generation system, such as a textual representation of graphical models, conceptual mapping, and incorporation of behavioral diagrams. These problems limit the worth of generated code, especially in practical use. Here, we propose AJFCode, an approach for aspect-oriented model-driven code generation, which comprehensively addresses the various aspects including the graphical models and their text-based representation, mapping between visual model elements and code, and the behavioral code generation. Experiments are conducted to compare the maintainability and reusability characteristics of the aspect-oriented code generated using the AJFCode with the most comprehensive object-oriented code generation approach. AJFCode performs well in terms of all metrics related to maintainability and reusability of code. However, the most significant improvement is noticed in the separation of concerns, coupling, and cohesion. For instance, AJFCode yields significant improvement in concern diffusion over operations (19 vs 51), coupling between components (0 vs 6), and lack of cohesion in operations (5 vs 9) for one of the experimented concerns.

Serially Concatenated Space-Time Code using Iterative Decoding of High Data Rate Wireless Communication (고속 무선 통신을 위한 반복 복호 직렬 연쇄 시.공간 부호)

  • This paper suggests and analyzes the Serially Concatenated Space-Time Code(SCSTC) with the possibility of a efficient high-speed transmission in a band limited channel. The suggested code has a structure that uses the interleaver to connect the space-time code as an inner code and the convolutional code as a outer code serially. This code keeps the advantage of high-speed transmission and also has the high BER performance. The performance of the suggested system is compared with the conventional bandwidth efficient trellis coded modulation, such as a Serially Concatenated Trellis Coded Modulation (SCTCM) and a Turbo-Trellis Coded Modulation(Turbo-TCM). The results show that the suggested system has a 2.8dB and 3dB better BER performance than SCTCM and Turbo-TCM respectively in case of the transmission rate 2b/s/Hz in fading channel.

  • This study conducted a basic study to develop ISM Code operation evaluation module, which is part of development of Safety Management System(ISM Code) Implementation supporting module. In particular, the significant of this study is that it established AHP operation evaluation analysis process, the design of questionnaire, and the hierarchical structure of operation evaluation model standard, focusing on the development of ISM Code operation evaluation module. Also, this study has its value in the point that it attempted to apply AHP scheme, which is part of the main decision­making in management science field, to develop operation evaluation module.

Numerical Simulation of High-Velocity Oblique Impacts of Yawed Long Rod Projectile Against Thin-Plate (Yaw 를 가진 긴 관통자와 경사판재의 고속충돌 수치해석)

  • Using the Lagrangian explicit time-integration finite element code NET3D which can treat three-dimensional high-velocity impact problems, oblique penetration processes of long rod projectile with yaw against thin plate are simulated. Through the comparison of simulation result with experimental result and other code's computational result, the adaptability and accuracy of NET3D is evaluated under the complex situation in which yaw angle and oblique angle exist simultaneously. Main research contents to be handled in this paper include the followings. First, the accuracy and efficiency estimation of NET3D code result obtained from the oblique penetration simulations of long rod projectile with yaw against thin plate. Second, the effect of increasing impact velocity. Third, the effect of initial yaw for the spaced-plate target. Residual velocities, residual lengths, angular velocities, and final deformed configurations obtained from the NET3D computations are compared with the experimental results and other code's computational results such as Eulerian code MESA and Lagrangian code EPIC. As a result of comparisons, it has been found that NET3D code is superior to EPIC code and MESA code in the prediction capability of residual velocity and residual length of penetrator. The key features obtained from the experiment can be successfully reproduced through NET3D simulations. Throughout the study, the applicability and accuracy of NET3D as a metallic armor system design tool is verified.

A Study on the Introduction of Maritime Security System(ISPS Code) (해상보안체제(ISPS Code)의 도입 방향에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is intended as an investigation of introduction of Maritime Security System. In the last few years, several articles have been devoted to the study of ISPS Code(International Code for the Security of Ships and of Port Facilities). The Diplomatic Conference on Maritime Security held in London in December 2002 adopted new provisions in the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 and this ISPS Code to enhance maritime security. These new requirements form the international framework through which ships and port facilities can co-operate to detect and deter acts which threaten security in the maritime transport sector. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to suggest an introduction, if Maritime Security System and understanding of ISPS Code.

Bar-Code Shape UHF RFID Tag Antenna (바코드 모양의 UHF RFID 태그 안테나 설계)

  • A bar-code shape UHF RFID tag antenna is designed and fabricated with silver conductive ink. It can be recognize by both bar-code scanner and RFID reader. The bar-code shape is taken from a general box of a product, and the product code of the bar-code is used for the antenna design. The tag antenna is fabricated with silver conductive ink using a T-matching structure. The designed tag antenna is satisfied with bar-code system and RFID system simultaneously. The input reflection coefficient characteristics and the reading range pattern are measured. The peak reading range is about 111 cm, which is long enough.
