본 연구의 목적은 한국 도서관계의 선구자인 박봉석에 대한 도서관 사상의 조명과 재평가가 이루어지길 바라면서 그가 편찬한 조선동서편목규칙에서 새롭게 정립한 사항과 그 속에 나타난 그의 사상과 정신이 무엇인지를 조명하고자 하는 것이다. 이 목적을 위하여, 조선동서편목규칙의 편찬배경, 구성 및 특성을 조사하였으며, 조선동서편목규칙의 비판과 한국목록규칙의 탄생과 변천사항을 살펴보았다. 박봉석이 한국도서관계를 위하여 일한 시기는 1945년 해방에서 1950년 한국전쟁까지 5년 동안이었으며, 이 기간 동안 한국 도서관계를 위하여 많은 업적을 남겼다. 그래서 그의 업적과 사상을 조명하였다. 이를 토대로 박봉석이 조선동서편목규칙에서 새롭게 정립한 규칙과 그의 사상과 정신을 조명하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distinctiveness and problem areas in cataloging rules of sound recordings. In this study, therefore, the characteristics and kinds of sound recordings and the cataloging rules related to sound recordings in non-book cataloging rules are examined first as the backgrounds. Then the sources of information, general material designation, physical description, choice of headings, and uniform titles in ISBD(NBM)·AACR2R·AECT4 and KORMARC(NBM) are analyzed. And the special issues and some problems to be considered in cataloging of sound recordings are presented.

This study tries to analyze the problems of rules for cataloging currently used n Korea such as KCR 3rd ed., KORMARC Description Rules, and KORMARC format, and to propose the methods solving the non-standardization of Korean cataloging records as follows: 1) No-main heading principles should be established so as to be applied to MARC format. 2) Description rules of cataloging currently used in Korea should be coordinated in accordance with MARC system and principles of bibliographical description. 3) Description rules of cataloging currently used in Korea should be coordinated in accordance with MARC system and principles of bibliographical description. 4) Unifying the format for CRT screen to display online catalog records are needed. 5) Conventional cataloging rules and MARC format should be coordinated.

본 논문은 목록규칙에 있어서의 목록의 접근점인 표목의 변천과정에 대하여 고찰하였으며, 한국목록규칙과 영미계목록규칙에 나타난 표목부의 변천, 온라인 환경에서의 접근점과 미래 목록규칙에 대하여 연구하였다. 기본표목의 개념이 다양함에도 불구하고 오늘날 온라인 환경에서 기본표목의 개념이 상실되어 가고 있는데 한국목록규칙, 영미목록규칙 제21장, MARC포맷 그리고 KORMARC포맷의 표목부가 목록환경의 변화에 맞도록 개정되어야 할 필요가 있다. 이러한 목록규칙의 개정은 하이퍼텍스트와 하이퍼미디어에 근거한 계속적인 실질적 연구가 필요하고 미래 목록규칙에 통합되어야 할 것이다.

이 연구는 한국의 목록규칙 변천과정에 관한 연속연구의 한 부분으로서, '국제표준화 시기'(1954년의$\boxDr$韓 圖書編目法$\boxUl$ $\boxDr$KORMARC 단행본실험용포맷$\boxUl$이 개발된 1980년 이전까지)를 중심으로 다루었다. 이 시기 한국에서 편찬된 목록규칙으로는 $\boxDr$韓 圖書編目法$\boxUl$, $\boxDr$東書編目規程(草)$\boxUl$, $\boxDr$寒國目錄規則$\boxUl$ 초판과 수정판을 들 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 이들 목록규칙의 체계, 내용의 특성을 개관하였다.

All things considered, cataloging rules of every nations in the world had been revised or attempt to revise according to the ISBD cataloging method. This is a general tendency of cataloging rules in nowadays. But, for the application to ISBD cataloging method to in the cataloging rules for oriental classics, there are many bottleneck because special articles of bibliography in the oriental classics frequently appeared, the special article has been recorded to suitably location in the body of entry. If special articles have apply to ISBD cataloging method, it must given to peculiar mark in the every articles. Representative examples are location for entry to material form of printed letter and form of printed book. Generally, material form of printed letter have been recorded in the article of edition, form of printed book have been recorded in the article of collation. But, as these method have not regulated in the general cataloging rules of Korea, material form of printed letter and form of printed book articles must record in article of note for application to ISBD cataloging method. If that happens, fundamentally problems which have been hotly debated in cataloging rules for oriental classics will be naturally solve. In the edded, I was presented the solution method of accompanying problems in this thesis.

In 1974 appeared the revision of Chapter 6 (which was then published as a sepprate monograph) of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (= AACR). The revision is the sum result of the incorporation of the many changes put forth in the International Standard Bibliographic Description for Monographic Publications (= ISBD (M)) including the prescribed punctuation and also the reorganization and and rearrangement, in much clearer and more accurate terms, of the previous 1967 AACR rules. The purpose of the present study is then to point out the major differences between the 1967 AACR rules and the revised 1974 AA CR rules (for Chapter 6) for the benefit of the cataloger in her actual task of descriptive cataloging. The article consists of three parts: (1) an examination of the Appendices, I, III, and V of the revised rules, which are necessary for understanding the revision of Chapter 6; (2) comparative analysis of the Seven Areas of the revised General rules commonly used in descritpive cataloging; and (3) comparative analysis of Special rules.

한국의 목록규칙 발전과정은 전통적 단일기입목록 시기(고려시대부터 1923년 경까지), 서양식 목록규칙 도입기(1923년경부터 1954년 이전까지), 국제 표준화기(1954년 이후부터), 자동화목록기(1980년 이후부터)로 구분할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 전통적 단일기입목록 시기와 서양식 목록규칙 도입기를 중심으로 목록의 구성이나 표목선정과 관계되는 목록의 편성체계, 그리고 문헌의 식별과 관계되는 서지기술체계 등을 고찰하였다.

학교도서관업무지원시스템이 2024년 독서로 DLS로 새로 개발되었으나 DLS를 위한 목록규칙은 초창기 개발된 이후 크게 변경되지 않았으며, 현재 개발된 지침도 2020년에 작성된 것으로 새로운 개정이 필요한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 DLS의 목록입력규칙 적용을 위한 지침 개발 시 고려사항을 KCR4에 준하여 제안하고자 기존 DLS(Ver. 2.0) 목록입력규칙 및 2024 DLS 목록입력규칙, 2020년 서지등록가이드(Ver. 2.2)를 상호비교하였다. 이를 바탕으로 데이터요소 변경 및 확대, 내용규칙의 수정, 접근점 기록 방안, 통제어휘집 개발의 측면에서 고려사항을 제안하였다. 본 연구를 통해 앞으로 DLS 목록입력규칙의 개정, 지침의 개발, 시스템 개선 등에 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

본 연구에서는 KCR4와 KCR3.1의 단행본에 관한 목록규칙을 비교 분석하였다. 연구방법으로는 KCR4에 있는 단행본에 대한 규칙을 서지기술 사항별로 나누어 KCR3.1에 있는 규칙과 비교하여 가면서 규칙이 다른 조항들은 어떻게 다른지를 분석하였다. 이러한 분석결과는 도서관에서 단행본자료를 편목하는데 유용한 참고도구로서 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이며, 나아가 KCR4가 정보접근과 서지기술을 위한 확고한 표준이 되는데 일조 할 수 있을 것이다.
