  • This paper studied the process of changes of the heading which is access point of the catalog in the cataloging Rules. The first described change of the concept of heading, and described change of headings in the Korean Cataloging Rules and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules And then described heading; in the online environment and future of cataloging rules. The concept of the main entry has lost any meaningful purpose in today's online catalog environment despite a multiplicity of definition. To bring cataloging rules up-to-date, Headings of KCR, AhCR2 Chapter 21, the MARC format and KORMARC format need to be revised The revision of this cataloging rules should be based on Hypertext and Hypermedia. • All things considered, cataloging rules of every nations in the world had been revised or attempt to revise according to the ISBD cataloging method. This is a general tendency of cataloging rules in nowadays. But, for the application to ISBD cataloging method to in the cataloging rules for oriental classics, there are many bottleneck because special articles of bibliography in the oriental classics frequently appeared, the special article has been recorded to suitably location in the body of entry. If special articles have apply to ISBD cataloging method, it must given to peculiar mark in the every articles. Representative examples are location for entry to material form of printed letter and form of printed book. Generally, material form of printed letter have been recorded in the article of edition, form of printed book have been recorded in the article of collation. But, as these method have not regulated in the general cataloging rules of Korea, material form of printed letter and form of printed book articles must record in article of note for application to ISBD cataloging method. If that happens, fundamentally problems which have been hotly debated in cataloging rules for oriental classics will be naturally solve. In the edded, I was presented the solution method of accompanying problems in this thesis.

  • In 1974 appeared the revision of Chapter 6 (which was then published as a sepprate monograph) of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (= AACR). The revision is the sum result of the incorporation of the many changes put forth in the International Standard Bibliographic Description for Monographic Publications (= ISBD (M)) including the prescribed punctuation and also the reorganization and and rearrangement, in much clearer and more accurate terms, of the previous 1967 AACR rules. The purpose of the present study is then to point out the major differences between the 1967 AACR rules and the revised 1974 AA CR rules (for Chapter 6) for the benefit of the cataloger in her actual task of descriptive cataloging. The article consists of three parts: (1) an examination of the Appendices, I, III, and V of the revised rules, which are necessary for understanding the revision of Chapter 6; (2) comparative analysis of the Seven Areas of the revised General rules commonly used in descritpive cataloging; and (3) comparative analysis of Special rules.

  • The school library work support system was newly developed as 2024 Doksero DLS, but the DLS-compliant cataloging rules have not changed significantly since it was initially developed, and the current developed cataloging guidelines in 2020 also need to be updated. This study is to propose the considerations for developing guidelines for applying the DLS cataloging rules based on KCR4 by comparing the existing DLS (Ver. 2.0) cataloging rules, the 2024 DLS cataloging rules, and the 2020 bibliographic registration guidelines (Ver. 2.2). On this basis, considerations were suggested in terms of changing and expanding data elements, revising content rules for cataloging, method for recording access point, and developing controlled vocabularies. This study will allow to implement revision of DLS cataloging rules, development of guidelines, and system improvements.
