  • All-ceramic prostheses are widely used to fulfill the high esthetic demand. However, bonding failure between zirconia and porcelain is one of the all-ceramic prostheses failures. In order to improve clinical sucess of all-ceramic prostheses, laboratory or in-office surface conditioning techniques on zirconia have been studied.

  • Ewing's sarcoma is a neoplasm of the undifferenciated small round cells, which generally affects the bone and deep soft tissues of children and adolescents. We present a case of gastric Ewing's sarcoma; a 35-year-old female who had no symptoms. While she was at a routine medical checkup, a protruding mass in her gastric antrum was incidentally found on esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Endoscopic ultrasonogram showed a submucosal mass on the same lesion and a laparosopic wedge resection was done. Pathologic gross findings showed a granular grape appearance tissue and histoloigc examination revealed a small round cell tumor with CD 99 immunoexpression positive. In general, a combined modality therapy for Ewing's sarcoma such as surgical resection with chemotherapy, is accepted as an effective method. However, this patient had no adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery and she has no recurrence for eleven months.

  • A traumatic or amputation neuroma can develop as a result of nerve injury caused by hemorrhage, infection, ischemia, trauma, etc. A traumatic neuroma can be considered as the attempted regeneration of the amputated nerve rather than a true neoplasm. Occasionally, a traumatic neuroma will develop after oral or maxillofacial surgery. Here, we report a case of traumatic neuroma after mandibular angle reduction in a 24-year-old woman.

  • The objective of this study is to consider the disputed point of housing problem appeared in Chosun Dynasty Chronicles and to consider the change of housing problem appeared in Chronicles according to the times. The results are: Housing affairs problem appeared steadily until king Se-chong and increased sporadically under the reign of king Sung-chong, Chung-chong. General housing hardly appeared in the early of Chosun. And it appeared sometimes in the late of Chosun. Palace problem increased gradually from the early of Chosun. And in the times of king Yonsangun it appeared most highly. Later it decreased gradually, but in the times of king Kwanghaegun it increased suddenly. And it hardly appeared in the late of Chosun. National disaster problem appeared a little in the early of Chosun but increased gradually in the middle and late of Chosun.

  • Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), is a widespread environmental pollutant. In this study, we investigated the effect of DDT on testosterone production through aromatase and investigated its molecular mechanism in testicular leydig cell, R2C. We investigated that the effects of DDT on testosterone production and its effects on aromatase activity in R2C cell by radio immunoassay (RIA). (omitted)

  • Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) is a widespread environmental pollutant. Earlier reports have demonstrated that DDT is an endocrine-active compound capable of affecting early-stage sexual differentiation in male rats. Experiments based on receptor binding affinity and receptor-mediated transcriptional activation have identified DDE as an androgen receptor antagonist.(omitted)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of cefuroxime axetil, semisynthetic cefalosporin, for some putative periodotopathogens; F. nucleatum, A. actinomycetemcomitans P. intermedia and P. gingivalis. To investigate the efficacy of cefuroxime axetil, several antibiotics, amoxicillin, metronidazole, and ciprofoxacine, were used as control. The MIC was measured by Murray' s method. The MIC of cefuroxime axetil against some putative microbes, as a single use regimen, was relatively high in comparison with that of the other antibiotics used in this study. The MIC of cefuroxime axetil/metronidazole against some putative microbes, as a simultaneous regimen, was similar to that of the other antibiotics used in this study. The manimal level of cefuroxime concentration in gingival fluid was 9${\mu}$/ml at 36hr after the first dose. In conclusion, within the limited experiment, metronidazole/ cefuroxime axetil therapy of periodontitis may provide a therapeutic benefits in reducing the periodontopathogens.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to systematically summarize trends in research concerning patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as reported in Korean medical journals. Methods: We performed a literature search of KoreaMed from January 2020 to September 2022. We included only primary studies of patients with COVID-19. Two reviewers screened titles and abstracts, then performed full-text screening, both independently and in duplicate. We first identified the 5 journals with the greatest numbers of eligible publications, then extracted data pertaining to the general characteristics, study population attributes, and research features of papers published in these journals. Results: Our analysis encompassed 142 primary studies. Of these, approximately 41.0% reported a funding source, while 3.5% disclosed a conflict of interest. In 2020, 42.9% of studies included fewer than 10 participants; however, by 2022, the proportion of studies with over 200 participants had increased to 40.6%. The most common design was the cohort study (48.6%), followed by case reports/series (35.2%). Only 3 randomized controlled trials were identified. Studies most frequently focused on prognosis (58.5%), followed by therapy/intervention (20.4%). Regarding the type of intervention/exposure, therapeutic clinical interventions comprised 26.1%, while studies of morbidity accounted for 13.4%. As for the outcomes measured, 50.7% of studies assessed symptoms/clinical status/improvement, and 14.1% evaluated mortality. Conclusions: Employing a systematic approach, we examined the characteristics of research involving patients with COVID-19 that was published in Korean medical journals from 2020 onward. Subsequent research should assess not only publication trends over a longer timeframe but also the quality of evidence provided.
