  • Straw and other fibrous by-products are inevitably produced during cereal production and have traditionally been used for many purposes including feeding animals . The potential of these by -products as a feed resource for ruminants is being increasingly appreciated (FAO , 1977). In the future, the amount of cereals fed to farm animals will have to be reduced and livestock will have to rely more on by-products such as straw. The method of animal production can be classified by the major portion of feed. One is animal forage and the other is grains. In Korea , livestock farmers normally depend more than 70% upon grains for the feed stuff. The livestock production system causes the unbalance of nutrition, and results in low productivity of animal farming. In many livestock farms in Korea the rice straw is using as a major forage and the amount of rice straw fed takes 46% of total amount of required forages. Especially the rice straw is mainly using during spring, fall and winte season. However, there are still lots of problems to solved such as harvesting cost, transportation between rice farm ad livestock farm, and quality loss during drying and storage . Therefore the mechanization of straw harvesting is urgently needed to use the renewable agricultural by-products and to overcome the shortage of animal forage. The objective of this research is to develope a straw harvester with new concept which can solve the problems of the quality loss and the labor cost during drying in a field, collecting , and storage. The developed straw harvester is self-propelled machine rebuilt by rice combine and equipped with the pick-up device, the macerater and the mat-forming device.

DEA를 이용한 신동진 벼 재배 농가의 경영 효율성 분석 (A Study on the Management Efficiency of 'Sindongjin' Rice Farms Used DEA Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 농촌진흥청에서 개발 및 보급해온 '신동진' 벼 품종 재배 농가의 경영 효율성을 분석하고자 한다. 조사지역은 전북지역을 대상으로 신동진 벼 재배 농가 30호에 대한 설문조사 자료를 바탕으로 자료포락분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 30 농가 중 12 농가의 기술효율은 효율적으로 나타났고, 18 농가가 비효율적으로 나타났는데 대부분 농가에서 상대적으로 순수기술 효율성이 높게 나타났다. 13번 농가, 25번 농가를 비효율적인 대표로 비효율적인 원인을 파악한 결과 투입요소의 비용이 높아 비효율적인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 Tobit모형을 이용하여 효율성 결정요인을 분석한 결과 변동비용(종자종묘비, 부산물비료비, 일반비료비, 농약비, 수도광열비, 소농구비), 고정비용(감가상각비, 기타비용)이 낮을수록 경영효율성이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 농가의 투입과잉이 존재하며 신동진벼 재배에 적합하도록 일반비료비, 농약비 등 투입비용을 감소하는 방법으로 효율성을 제고해야 할 것이다. 조사결과에 의하면 신동진 벼는 국내 일반 벼와 달리 생산성이 우수하며 병해충 및 생리장해저항성이 강하다. 이에 재배 방식이 조금 다른데, 출수기가 일반벼보다 빠르다. 또한 일반벼보다 비료와 농약을 적게 투입을 해야 하는 것에 반해 아직까지도 농가들의 과다 투입으로 경영효율성이 낮은 경우가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다.

The Use of Apple Pomace in Rice Straw Based Diets of Korean Native Goats(Capra hircus)

  • In this study, three different experiments were conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of apple pomace produced in southern areas of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). The effects of combining apple pomace in different ratios with commercial concentrates and rice straw in the diets of Korean native goats (Capra hircus) were examined. In experiment I, in situ DM and CP disappearances from nylon bags incubated in the rumen of goats showed that greater amounts of DM and CP were released from apple pomace than those from concentrates at the later stages of incubation, but only after 48 h for DM and CP, respectively. This was reflected in the higher 'b' value of the slowly degradable fraction of the apple pomace compared to the concentrates. Prior to these times the trend was reversed. In experiment II, Korean native goats were fed a diet containing apple pomace with either rice straw or rice straw and concentrates, and the in vivo nutrient digestibilities compared to animals receiving an alfalfa hay. DM digestibility in the animals given apple pomace plus concentrates with rice straw (66.86%) were similar to the goats given alfalfa hay only (69.09%) but significantly greater than for a diet of rice straw plus concentrates. In experiment III, an in vivo study was conducted to investigate the inclusion of 30 to 60% apple pomace pre-mixed with rice straw, rice bran and concentrates on the nutritional value for Korean native goats. Apple pomace mixed diets had higher DM intakes, nutrient digestibility and nitrogen retention than diets without apple pomace, which may have been due to the higher non-structural carbohydrates (NSC) and less ADF and NDF than those in other treatments. Replacement of concentrates with apple pomace in rice straw based diets of Korean native goats fed either separately (experiment II) or by pre-mixing (experiment III) gave satisfactory feed intake, digestibility, pH of ruminal fluid and production of $NH_3$-N and VFA in the rumen of goats. The results of this study infer that apple pomace can be included at levels of up to 60% in the diets of goats without dramatic effect on the animal.

다양한 원료 곡물로 제조한 막걸리의 항산화활성 및 품질특성 (Antioxidant Activity and Quality Properties of Makgeolli Brewed with Various Raw Material Cereals)

  • 본 연구에서는 고부가가치 막걸리 개발을 위해 4가지 원료 곡물(밀가루, 팽화미분, 멥쌀, 및 찹쌀)로 한국 전통막걸리를 제조하였다. 기능성소재로의 개발 가능성 조사를 위해 제조한 막걸리를 대상으로 이화학적 성상, 페놀, 플라보노이드, 및 비타민 함량, 그리고 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)(ABTS) 라디칼 소거활성을 측정하였다. 팽화미분 막걸리와 멥쌀 막걸리가 4종류의 막걸리 중 알코올 함량이 높은 것으로 나타났다(16-16.5%). 4종류의 막걸리 중 팽화미분 막걸리의 총 페놀 함량이 5.2±0.06 mg GAE/mL로 가장 높았으며, 플라보노이드 함량은 4종류의 막걸리가 470-490 ㎍ QE/mL 수준으로 유사하게 높았다. 총 페놀 함량이 가장 높았던 팽화미분 막걸리가 81.5%로 ABTS 라디칼 소거활성이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과는 팽화미분이 항산화 기능성소재 개발을 위한 효율적인 막걸리 원료가 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

말레이시아 농산물 수출입 동향 (The Export-import Trends of Agricultural Products in Malaysia)

  • To strengthen the competitiveness of agricultural sector of the Korea, the direction of market trends on agriculture of the Malaysia was reviewed. The most dominating agricultural area in value is palm oil products, and forest products, sea products poultry products and rubber products is in order. The cultivated area of highest two top plants, oil palm and rubber, was about 4.4 million hectares in 2005, but it is decreasing year by year. Comparatively, rice field, pine apple and fruits tree cultivating area is increasing in tendency by the year. Among all the agricultural products, those items such as pork meat, poultry, egg were self-sufficient, rice, fruits, vegetables and sea products were about 70 to 80% self-sufficient, and beef meat, goat meat and milk were below 20% self-sufficient. Most of the grains, such as wheat, rice, barley, corn etc. and their processed food were imported. Also, temperate fruits such as apple, pear, and water cultivated as well as sprouting vegetables are imported. Ornamental products as cutting flowers and orchids are exported to mainly to the Singapore, but high quality temperate fruits and vegetables are imported from Australia. Oil palm exportation covers the balance of the other items imported and obtaining the foreign money as well in Malaysia.

미곡생산(米穀生産)에 있어서 관개용수(灌漑用水)의 한계편익(限界便益)·비용분석(費用分析) (Marginal Benefit-Cost Analysis of Irrigation Water in Rice Production)

  • Rice cultivation is not only the main resource of farm income and staple food but also the root of cultural life of Korean people. Korean government has carried out irrigation water development with heavy investment to cope with water shortage in rice fanning as a link of the five years economic development plans. In spite of the continuous accomplishment of irrigation water development, the marginal benefits-costs of irrigation water has not been studied. Owing to the government full support for the operation and maintenance of irrigation facilities, price of irrigation water as a membership fee could not be formed as the municipal and industrial water prices. Accordingly this study is aimed at identifying firstly the marginal benefits-cost of irrigation water, secondly deriving the macro-econometrics models as supply and demand functions of irrigation water and thirdly examining the marginal benefits-cost ratio. The trends of supply and demand prices of irrigation water were estimated annually. Considering the marginal benefits-cost ratio as 1.3, it was identified that additional irrigation water development projects still have an economic feasibility under the present economic situation in Korea.

하이드록시프로필화 찹쌀 전분의 이화학적 성질 및 유과제조 특성 (Physicochemical Properties of Hydroxypropylated Waxy Rice Starches and its Application to Yukwa)

  • 유과 제조 시 제조 시간을 단축할 수 있는 소재를 개발하기 위하여 찹쌀 전분을 propylene oxide(PO)와 반응시켜 하이드록시프로필화 찹쌀 전분을 제조하고 이들의 이화학적 특성을 연구하였다. 하이드록시프로필화 찹쌀 전분의 치환율은 0.013-0.115% 정도로 나타났으며, 팽윤력 및 용해도는 일반 찹쌀 전분에 비해 약간 증가되는 경향을 보였다. 등온흡습곡선에서는 하이드록시프로필화에 따른 유의적인 차이를 보이지는 않았다. Rapid Visco Analyzer(RVA)특성을 검토한 결과, 호화개시온도는 하이드록시프로필화에 따른 변화가 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 최대 점도, holding strength, final viscosity는 일반 찹쌀 전분보다 높아지는 결과를 나타냈다. 열적특성에서는 호화개시온도, 호화종결온도 그리고 호화온도범위$({\Delta}T)$는 각 전분간에 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았으나 최대호화온도와 증가된 결과을 보여주었다. X-ray 회절 분석 결과로 볼 때, 하이드록시프로필화 찹쌀 전분 및 일반 찹쌀 전분 모두 A형의 결정 형태를 나타내었고, 상대적 결정화도의 차이가 나타나지 않는 것으로 보아 하이드록시프로필화가 찹쌀 전분의 결정형영역에는 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 보여진다. 하이드록시프로필화 찹쌀 전분을 사용하여 제조한 유과의 경우 일반 찹쌀을 장시간 침지 후 제조한 사료보다 낮은 팽화율과 색의 변화를 나타내어 유과제조용 소재로서는 부적합한 것으로 판단되었다.

High plant regeneration and ectopic expression of OsMADS1 gene in root chicory (Cichorium intybus L. var. sativus)

  • Optimal shoot regeneration and transformation conditions of root type chicory (Cichorium intybus L. var. sativus cv Cesare) were studied. Leaf explants were co-cultured with Agrobacterium tumefaciens, which contained NPTII as a selectable marker and a rice homeotic gene, OsMADS1, that encodes a MADS-domain-containing transcription factor. After one day of co-cultivation, explants were transferred to selection media consisting of MS basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L BAP, 0.1 mg/L IAA, 70 mg/L kanamycin, and 250 mg/L cefotaxime. PCR and Southern blot analyses revealed stable integration of the OsMADS1 gene in the chicory genome. Four-teen original transgenic plants ($T_o$ plants) were acclimatized in the greenhouse and examined for their morphological characters. Most of the transgenic plants showed altered morphologies, such as short, bushy, and early-flowering phenotypes with reduced apical dominance. Additionally, half of the transgenic plants exhibited altered leaf shapes, and 4 out of 14 plants were sterile. These phenotypes were inherited by the next generation. Northern blot analysis confirmed expression of the OsMADS1 gene in both floral and vegetative organs.

야생벼 Oryza minuta에서 유래한 수원506호의 흰잎마름병 저항성유전자에 대한 고찰 (Genetic Analysis on the Bacterial Blight Resistance Gene from a Wild Relative, Oryza minuta)

  • 벼 흰잎마름병은 세계적으로 벼 재배치에서 가장 문제시되는 병해충의 하나이다. 우리나라의 경우 상습발생지를 중심으로 Xa1과 Xa3 이 저항성 유전자로 활용되었으나, 소수의 저항원이 집중적으로 활용됨으로 인해 최근 이병화가 급속히 진행되고 있다. 특히 최근 Xa1과 Xa3 모두를 침해하는 새로운 균계 K3a가 확인됨에 따라 새로운 저항성 유전자의 동정 및 활용의 중요성이 높아가고 있다. 국내육성 자포니카품종 화성벼와 야생벼 O. minuta 간의 종간교잡을 통해 확립된 수원506호의 흰잎마름병에 대한 유전분석을 실시하였다. 수원506호와 통일계 품종인 밀양23호간의 교잡을 통해 확보한 F2 개체들을 활용하여 흰잎마름균주 HB3011 의 접종에 따른 병반장의 변이와 유전자지도 작성에 사용된 SSR 마커의 유전자형간의 연관성분석을 수행하였다. 수원506호의 흰잎마름병 저항성을 지배하며 우성유전자로 작용하는 주동유전인자가 염색체 4변 하단에서 SSR 마커 RM255 에 의해 표지 되었는데, 해당 염색체영역은 Xa1과 Xa2 및 Xa22 등이 보고되었던 영역과 매우 유사할 것으로 추정되었다.
