  • Even though the multiple pages TLB are effective in improving the performance, a conventional method with OS support cannot utilize multiple page sizes in user application. Thus, we propose a new multiple-TLB structure supporting multiple page sizes for high performance and low power consumption without any operating system support. The proposed TLB is organised as two parts of a S-TLB(Small TLB) with a small page size and a L-TLB(Large TLB) with a large page size. Both are designed as fully associative bank structures. The S-TLB stores small pages are evicted from the L-TLB, and the L-TLB stores large pages including a small page generated by the CPU. Each one bank module of S-TLB and L-TLB can be selectively accessed base on particular one and two bits of the virtual address generated from CPU, respectively. Energy savings are achieved by reducing the number of entries accessed at a time. Also, this paper proposed the simple 1-bit LRU policy to improve the performance. The proposed LRU policy can present recently referenced block by using an additional one bit of each entry on TLBs. This method can simply select a least recently used page from the L-TLB. According to the simulation results, the proposed TLB can reduce Energy * Delay by about 76%, 57%, and 6% compared with a fully associative TLB, a ARM TLB, and a Dual TLB, respectively.

  • The present study analyzed what policies are being executed for deteriorated apartments in Japan and what characteristics each policy had in order to examine policy direction and implications for the improvement of vitalization of remodeling business of deteriorated apartments in Korea. The study results are as follows. Japan recognized social problems of deteriorated apartments and pushed forward a national level remodeling actively by preparing financial support of central government and supporting plan by city and province. First, Japan maintained initial performance of buildings through phased maintenance for deterioration of buildings and aimed to reduce environmental load and maintain asset values of buildings through enlarging durability of buildings by responding to lifestyle according to social changes. To this end, they promoted the long life of buildings through the establishment of systematic long term repair plan from the stage of moving in the buildings. Second, in order to reduce the risk of remodeling projects, they prepared an environment where business could be carried out with an easy mind in various aspects by introducing remodeling business registration system and large scale repair construction defect insurance system. Third, they reduced economic burden of main agents of remodeling business with tax preferential treatment and financial support policies. Fourth, they have established remodeling support system based on overall social issues and connected it with social effect that could be obtained through this. The remodeling policies of Japan were carried out in the direction of solving social problems and considering economic aspect rather than just improving individuals' residence environment.

  • Considering that firms' view on R&D activities may differ depending on the economic situation, in this paper, R&D policies that significantly affect the business performance are identified. The analysis is conducted by dividing the analysis time-frame into before and after the economic recession. In addition, we analyze by considering the type of industry, the proportion of R&D investment, and the type of government support policy that the companies participate in. According to the results of the empirical analysis, the provision of global market and technology information is recognized to give a significant impact on business performance for both before and after the economic recession. It is shown that recognizing the importance of 'supporting self-technology development', 'enhancing technical cooperation with foreign countries', and 'enhancing the contract and intellectual property protection system' that had significant effects before the recession did not significantly affect the business performance after the recession. The analysis results could give meaningful implications to the government for deciding which R&D activities should be supported.

  • Purpose : Promoting startups has increased in importance in labor market policies since the economic crisis. In Korea, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is also seeking to revitalize youth startups and traditional markets by moving young stores into idle spaces in traditional markets through 'Project to Support the Activation of Youth Mall'. Research into startups in traditional markets is very limited. Therefore, this study looks at the differences between the management performance of young merchants and senior merchants, and looks at the impact of the business period. Research design, data and methodology : It was divided into youth startup and senior startup based on the age of 40 and startup and nonstartup. Based on these criteria, the company intends to compare and analyze sales and margin rates by setting the sales and margin rates with the management performance of the startup and senior startups. In particular, to look at the feasibility of government funded projects for young merchants, the company will look at the changes in sales and margin rates of young merchants and senior merchants over the period of operation. In this study, the analysis was based on the raw data of the Statistics of traditional market in 2017, and the ANCOVA was used. Results : First of all, the sales volume of stores operated by young merchants, was higher than those operated by senior merchants. Next, the margin ratio does not differ from that of stores that are for young people and those. These findings suggest that the profit structure of stores in traditional markets is similar between young merchants and senior merchants. Third, if you look at the performance of new startups based on one year of business period in more detail, it turns out that young startups have improved in sales and margin rates since startups, while senior startups have no difference. Conclusions : While it means that management performance can be improved through support for young startups, it suggests that there is a limit to supporting senior startups. Therefore, this research indicates that the government support projects centered on youth can contribute to the revitalization of traditional markets.

  • Recently, to overcome the global economic recession and stimulate the sluggish economy, Korea government has adopted various policies designed to strengthen the innovative capabilities of its small or medium sized enterprises (SMEs). With our focus on ICT technology companies, this study empirically analyzes both the potentials and the limitations of the R&D information support programs which are part of these governmental efforts. Our goal is to generate insights and help develop policies based on evidence. In this study, we used statistics from 2014 on small or medium business technologies to analyze the effect that the government's R&D information support policy has had on the technological or economic performance of small or medium businesses. According to these research results, R&D support programs (assistance with R&D planning and provision of technological information) made available to small or medium businesses did have a significant correlation to technological investment. By contrast, R&D information supporting programs were found to have no direct, significant correlation to technological or economic performance. One exception was that programs that gained the benefits of R&D planning support did have a significant correlation to technological performance in the case of companies engaged in ICT research. The results of this study will provide various insights for policymakers designing policies to support technologically-driven small or medium businesses, including ICT-based companies. We anticipate that this study will be a particularly helpful guide to policy development for corporations or researchers that provide supportive information to small or medium businesses.

  • The fishing vessel buyback program, that is, the project of fishing vessel reduction is a complex challenge that needs to take into consideration for both fishing resource protection and industrial restructuring. By the way, the fishing vessel buyback program in Korea is still poorly fruitful and there are few applications for the project in the country. For example, the buyback program of this nation has some problems like uncertainly set goals, conflicts among targets, no flexibility in the program implementation, low participation in the project and lack in follow-up actions. To solve these problems, this study offers the following alternatives. First, it is setting up detailed targets for fishing vessel buyback. Those targets should be what can be actually driven under policy support, such as reduction in illegal fishing, decrease in an exact number of fishing vessels and decline in fishing capacity rather than what seem to be comprehensive such as protection of coastal or offshore fishery and industrial restructuring. Second, it is taking measures for the livelihood of those who would face disadvantages due to fishing vessel reduction. Those measures providing or supporting the re-education and re-employment of fishery workers and building up systems that help the workers transfer fishing to another job. Third, it is adopting the governance system that overcomes lacks in communications between the fishing vessel buyback program and improves the performance effectiveness of that program. Here, governance means that businesses and authorities concerned in the program interact and cooperate with one another in making and implementing policies related to the project of fishing vessel reduction and assessing the results of that project. Fourth, it is taking actions for fishery reorganization after the fishing vessel buyback program. Factors that can be considered as those actions include supporting fishery workers' cost of fishing vessel reduction, decreasing and modernizing fishing fleets and improving the quality of fishing equipment. In conclusion, the fishing vessel buyback program should be prepared with comprehensive actions or measures that can cope well with a variety of problems that may be arisen from it while keeping itself on the track of its original goals.

  • Purpose - The objective of this paper is to explain the successful methods for the revitalization of distribution and logistics of the least developed FEZs (Saemangum, Yellow-sea, and Deagu-Kyengbuk) in Korea. With the recent changes in the economic terrain of Northeast Asia as with the rise of China, Korea has developed a logistics hub concept for improving the efficiency of logistics and distribution industry and its distribution and logistics policy has received positive worldwide evaluation. Therefore, we face severe competition and must always look for ways to address these problems. Research design, Data, Methodology - This study adopts two methods to propose successful revitalization of distribution and logistics in the least developed FEZ. The first method investigates the limitation of these FEZs by analyzing the statutes, and the second one follows comparable cases. Thus, we first reviewed the efficient strategic political alternatives for the least developed FEZ, Yellow-sea, Seamangum-Gunsan, and Deagu-Kyeongbuk, through the relative institution system, law, and future plans. Next, we studied the Bin-hai Economic Free Section (Zone) in China as a comparable example. In order to analyze the competitiveness of logistics in the three FEZs (Yellow-sea, Seamangum-Gunsan, and Deagu-Kyeongbuk), the total factor productivity growth of regional manufacturing industries is divided into three sources: the external trade effect, scale effect, and technical change effect. However, this paper does not test for a positive contribution of external trade, which is a reason of non-building on these FEZs. A FEZ that shows a larger external trade effect than the others will have a comparative advantage in the logistics infrastructure and policy support. This study presented the newly applied Bin-hai FEZ in China, in order to make the studied FEZ as successful by applying the strategy of its distribution and logistics center. Results - In Korea, there is an increased focus on the benefit of the regional development of regions such as the Free Economic Zones (FEZ). We have six FEZs, Inchon, Busan-Jinhae, Guangyang, Yellow-sea, Seamangum-Gunsan, and Deagu-Kyeongbuk. However, our FEZs do not have various supporting factors needed for the logistics and distribution industry. Korea designated the above six places as FEZ and has operated to enhance national competitiveness and ensure a balanced regional development since 2003. However, most FEZs did not receive favorable feedback in the first business performance evaluation and it is necessary to take action for substantial improvements. Conclusions - Especially, over the past 10 years, even though the FEZ policy has been implemented in an effort to promote success in distribution and logistics, there are still many underdeveloped industries in logistics. The main problem is the absence of revitalization of the high value added performance in the distribution and logistics industry. However, there is a limitation to this study. We have used non-empirical method based on a case study to arrive at our findings. Future studies should use appropriate statistical methods to supplement our results and provide a solution to this problem.

  • This study was to identify the influence of job satisfaction on the role clarity perception of the personnels except medical staffs of hospitals. The study subjects of this study were 486 personnels employed in the supporting departments of hospital. As the result of multiple regression analysis, policy decision showed the highest explanatory power on job satisfaction, We would conclude that in order to improve the performance level of hospital by increasing the job satisfaction of their non-medical personnels, the hospital managers should make efforts to raise the role clarity of them. Our study had some limitations. Especially, because measurement scale on job satisfaction used in our study didn't consist of subdivision, our findings would not show which area was more important in improving job satisfaction.
