  • The Korean Chinese Chives(Allium tuberosum Rottler) are a perennial herb and have been used from ancient as food and medical purpose in Korea. They are known to posses diuresis, sthemia activities and used for the treatment or anemia, haematemesis, and eczema. Recently the Korean Chinese Chives have been studied on the morphologic property, the classification of origin and chemical constituent. However there has not been studied on kg) (or 6 days and observed the hematological effects in dogs. The results are as follows, 1. The red blood cell count was significantly (P < 0.05) decreased on day 2. 2. The reduced glutathion(GSH) concentration was significantly (P< 0.05) increased on day 4 and Met-hemoglobin concentration was significantly (P< 0.05) increased on 3 hrs after administration. 3. Packed cell volume(PCV) and hemoglobin concentration were not showed significant difference during experimental periods. 4. The mean corpuscular volume(MCV) was significantly(P < 0.05) increased on 3 hours after administration.

  • The Korea chinese chives are a major edible vegetable and they are traditionally been used as a folk medicine. However recently studies on the Allium tuberosum are mainly on the morphological property and the chemical constituent. There are no reports concerning hematological changes in dogs administrated ethyl acetate extracts of Korea chinese chive. This experiment was conducted to investigate the hematological changes in dogs administrated ethyl acetate extracts of the Korea chinese chives($5m{\ell}/mg$) for 6 days. During administration blood samples were collected at 3h, 6h, 12h and then on daily basis until day 6. Blood samples were analyzed red blood cell(RBC), packed cell volume(PCV), hemoglobin concentration(Hb), mean corpuscular volume(MCV), mean corpuscularl hemoglobin concentration(MCHC), reduced glutathion(GSH), and met-hemoglobin concentration. The RBC count was significantly(p<0.01, p<0.05) decreased during experimental periods. Packed cell volume, hemoglobin concentration were not showed significantly difference during experimental periods. The MCV was significantly(p<0.01, p<0.05) increased from 3 hours after administration to day 4. The MCHC was significantly(p<0.05)decreased on day 6. GSH concentration was not showed significant difference during experimental periods and the met-hemoglobin concentration was significantly(p<0.05) increased on day 3.

Effect of Activated Carbon on Growth of Allium tuberosum in Green House

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of activated carbon on leave production of Allium tuberosum. Growth characteristics including plant height and leaf length were the highest when activated carbon was added with 5%, suggesting that optimum amount of activated carbon was ranged from 5 to 10%. Weight of fresh green vegetable in Allium tuberosum was low in control. And fresh weight of Allium tuberosum was higher in 5% treatment of activated carbon. However, when the plants were grown in activated carbon of $5{\sim}10%$, fresh yield of green vegetable of Allium tuberosum can be increased by using Activated Carbon. Activated carbon can be utilized as a soil conditioner in agricultural crop areas.

수도권 일부 학령기의 영양지수를 이용한 식행동 및 채소 선호도 조사 (Food Behavior Using the Nutrition Quotient and Vegetable Preferences of Elementary School Students in the Metropolitan Area)

  • The purpose of this survey was to investigate the food behavior and vegetable preferences of elementary school students in the metropolitan areas of, South Korea. Five hundred and eighty students (277 male and 303 female) studying in grades 5~6 participated in the survey. We assessed food behavior by evauating the Nutrition Quotient (NQ). Through a questionnaire, which consisted of 20 food behavior checklist items. These items were grouped under five factors: balance, diversity, moderation, practice and environment. All data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0. The average NQ score weighted using the five factors was 61.32 points. Among the five factors, moderation showed the lowest score, whereas environment showed the highest score. The average score of the vegetable preference was 3.36 points out of a total of 5 points. The vegetable preference was found to be highest for bean sprouts and followed by tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, Chinese cabbage, sesame leaf, pumpkin, carrot, radish, chives, lotus roots, onions, broccoli, sweet peppers, and eggplant. The results of vegetable preferences by NQ grade were 4.13±0.63 points for the high grade, 3.68±0.75 points for the medium-high grade, 3.41±0.82 points for the medium-low grade, and 2.94±0.78 points for the low grade. There was a significant positive correlation between NQ and vegetable preferences (r=0.477, P<0.001). If vegetables with high preference are frequently provided in school meals, it might contribute to improving overall food behavior.

사탕무씨스트선충의 기주범위 검정 (Host Range Screening of the Sugar Beet Nematode, Heterodera schachtii Schmidt)

  • 사탕무씨스트선충(Heterodera schachtii)의 피해가 2011년에 배추 주산지인 강원도 지역에서 확인되었다. 이 선충은 암컷이 씨스트를 형성하는 특성을 가지므로 농약에 의한 효과적인 방제가 어렵다. 따라서 사탕무시스트선충에 대한 비기주 작물을 선정하여 감염지역의 배추를 대체할 작물을 추천하고자 총 17과(科) 276품종의 식물에 대한 사탕무씨스트선충의 저항성을 검정하였다. 사탕무씨스트선충 접종 후 씨스트 발생 정도에 따라 감수성(susceptible), 중감수성(moderately susceptible), 저항성/비기주(resistant/immune)로 구분하였다. 검정 결과 감수성 106품종, 중감수성 40품종, 저항성/비기주 130품종으로 구분되었다. 씨스트가 전혀 형성되지 않은 작물은 가지, 토마토, 상추, 들깨, 당근, 셀러리, 수박, 참외, 오이, 호박, 부추, 양파, 파, 도라지, 더덕, 잔대, 콩 등이었다. 가지과, 국화과, 명아주과, 화본과 작물은 작물 및 품종에 따라 약감수성 또는 저항성/비기주 식물이 혼재하였다. 본 시험에서 사탕무씨스트선충이 전혀 발생하지 않아 저항성/비기주식물로 밝혀진 130품종은 사탕무씨스트선충 감염지의 배추를 대체할 작목을 추천하는데 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

중금속 오염 토양에서 안정화제가 청경채의 초기 생육과 중금속 흡수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Soil Amendments on the Early Growth and Heavy Metal Accumulation of Brassica campestris ssp. Chinensis Jusl. in Heavy Metal-contaminated Soil)

  • 본 연구에서는 6 종류의 안정화제의 중금속 안정화 효율을 평가하기 위해 생물학적 평가 방법을 이용하였다. 12 종의 식물을 대상으로 한 스크린 실험에서 청경채를 선발하여 이를 안정화제 평가에 사용하였다. 식물 독성실험 결과 농용석회와 제강슬래그는 청경채의 뿌리 신장에, 백운석은 지상부 신장에 각각 악영향을 주었다. 화학적 평가 방법뿐만 아니라 생물학적 평가 방법을 고려하였을 때에는 AMD 슬러지가 가장 추천되어질 만한 것으로 판단된다. 그러나 토양 환경과 청경채의 특수성 때문에 위 결과를 일반화 하는 것은 어려우며 명확한 결과 도출을 위해서 재배기간의 조정과 추가적인 화학 침출 평가 방법 등이 필요해 보인다.
