  • The purpose of this study is to revitalize ESG tourism in Bhutan by comparing and analyzing the ESG tourism status in Bhutan and the ESG tourism status in Korea. Big data analysis using text mining was performed by selecting "Bhutan ESG Tourism" and "Korea ESG Tourism" as keywords. The top 30 keywords were extracted through word purification, and based on this, data visualization was conducted through network analysis and Concor analysis between each keyword. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that Bhutan, unlike Korea, did not utilize it even though it had elements to incorporate ESG and the tourism industry into the country itself. As a result, since it is necessary to combine ESG elements owned by Bhutan and combine them with the tourism industry, we would like to suggest the direction of combining ESG and the tourism industry through this study.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the necessity of rural tourism education in the Korea National Agricultural College and suggest the educational plan. Recently, the Korean government proposes the rural tourism as an alternative plan for solving the problems of agriculture and rural community that experience difficulty by the opening of agricultural market and the falling price, etc. As result of investigation of cases of OECD nations and the growth rate of tourism market in Korea, it has been determined that the demand of rural tourism was sufficient. The Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry makes a goal of attracting the yearly 150million tourists by 2013 to the rural communities. Rural tourism can be new income source in the rural communities in Korea. It is important to develop the resources in the rural amenity and promote the tourism leader group with it that will be applicable in the field in order that this rural tourism may take its place as main source of income. As a result of research, on the characteristics of the Korea National Agricultural College that the demand of manpower about the rural tourism and the most of students settled down on the rural community after their graduation, it has been determined that the education for rural tourism leaders in the Korea National Agricultural College would authenticate the validity. The establishment of the department of rural tourism in the Korea National Agricultural College should be investigated and determined carefully through the relations with the other departments and the process of collecting the public opinions within and outside schools, etc.

  • The goal of the information system in tourism, like that of general information systems, is to create users' information needs so that the users continuously revisit the information system and retrieve the information on a regular basis. However, unlike any other information systems, the primary objective of the tourism information system is to attract tourists to the tourist sites rather than to create the users' needs for their future revisits to the information system. The tourism information system is therefore more closely related to tourists' overall tourism destination image towards the tourism destination. In this respect, the evaluation of the tourism information system should be based on tourists' overall tourism destination image towards the sites. This study examines how tourists' overall tourism destination image towards the sites affect the evaluation of the tourism information system. Specifically, I employ the tourism information system provided by Sokcho and Delone and Mclean(2003)'s the Information System Success Model in order to investigate this research question.

  • Purpose: In the 4th industrial revolution, services that incorporate various smart technologies in the tourism sector have begun to gain popularity. Accordingly, academic discussions on smart tourism have also started to become active in various fields. Despite recent research, the definition of smart tourism is still ambiguous, and it is not easy to differentiate its scope or characteristics from traditional tourism concepts. Thus, this study aims to analyze the perception of smart tourism exposed online to identify the current point of smart tourism in Korea and present the research direction for conceptualizing smart tourism suitable for the domestic situation. Research design, data, and methodology: This study analyzes the perception of smart tourism exposed online based on 20,198 news data from portal sites over the past six years. Data on words used with smart tourism were collected from the leading portal sites Naver, Daum, and Google. Text mining techniques were applied to identify the social awareness status of smart tourism. Network analysis was used to visualize the results between words related to smart tourism, and CONCOR analysis was conducted to derive clusters formed by words having similarity. Results: As a result of keyword analysis, the frequency of words related to the development and construction of smart tourism areas was high. The analysis of the centrality of the connection between words showed that the frequency of keywords was similar, and that the words "smartphones" and "China" had relatively high connection centrality. The results of network analysis and CONCOR indicated that words were formed into eight groups including related technologies, promotion, globalization, service introduction, innovation, regional society, activation, and utilization guide. The overall results of data analysis showed that the development of smart tourism cities was a noticeable issue. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in that it clearly reflects the differences in the perception of smart tourism between online and research trends despite various efforts to develop smart tourism in Korea. In addition, this study highlights the need to understand smart tourism concepts and enhance academic discussions. It is expected that such academic discussions will contribute to improving the competitiveness of smart tourism research in Korea.
