Koreans' consciousness survey on the onboard safety of domestic passenger ship (국내 여객선 승객의 선박안전 의식조사)

  • Users of passenger ships and cruise ships are rapidly increasing year by year, and the needs of the floating architecture are newly come out. But the studies about the passengers' safety and the countermeasures against incidents on board the ships are rare, although the ships' incidents are occurred averagely 15 cases per year during last 10 years. For the purposes of the analysis of the safety consciousness and gathering the some of input data for evacuation simulation for Korean passengers on board ships, this study performed surveys targeting ordinary 394 passengers who are not specially trained and/or accustomed with onboard living conditions. The results are the followings. The reliability on ships' safety is surveyed as 32.3%. Only 14.6% of respondents are aware that there were safety education on board ship during sailing. And 42.2% and 40.9% of respondents answered that they saw the map of emergency routes and knew where the life boats are, respectively. And 73.3% select crews' direct or in-direct(like announcement by indoor broadcasting system) guidances as the most effective evacuation method.

  • With an increase in the commercialization of electricity, and the development of advanced and large electric devices and various wireless radio wave services, concerns over the effects of electromagnetic fields on human health have increased. Accordingly, the World Health Organization encouraged the development of international standards by establishing the 'International Electromagnetic Fields Project' in 1996 based on studies on the harmful effects of electromagnetic fields on the human body. Moreover, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) classified electromagnetic fields as possible carcinogens under Group 2B category, even though they have been found to have a weak correlation with those effects on human health. Mid-to-large-sized electric facilities used at industrial sites mostly adopt a commercial frequency of 60 Hz, and workers handling these facilities are exposed to such extremely low frequency (ELF) fields for a long time. A previous study suggested that exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields with frequency ranges from 0 to 300 Hz, even for a short time, at densities higher than 100 μT may have harmful effects on human body as it affects the activation of nerve cells in the central nervous system by inducing an electric field and current and stimulating muscles and the nervous system in the body. Such studies, however, focused on home appliances used by ordinary people, and research on facilities utilizing high-capacity current and operated by workers at industrial sites is lacking. Therefore, in this study, a 3000 kilowatt generator, which is a high-capacity electric facility employed at industrial sites, was investigated, and the size of the magnetic fields generated during its no-load and high-load operations per distance to produce a map was measured to reveal spots deemed hazardous according to domestic and international exposure standards. The findings of this study is expected to alleviate workers' anxiety about the harmful effects of magnetic fields on their body and to minimize the level of exposure during operations.

A Study on the Image Positioning of Internet Shopping Mall (인터넷 쇼핑몰 이미지 포지셔닝 연구)

  • This study intends to figure out the image evaluation properties of internet shopping malls and suggest a strategic direction for positioning through establishing a perceptual map on how the actual customers remember them and which image expression would make the most effective marketing. According to the result of analysis, the images of internet shopping malls were drawn as elements such as product information service, customer service after purchase, atmosphere, convenience, safety, and fame. And according to the result of making a perceptual map, it showed that there was a meaningful difference in the customers' perception on competitive shopping malls. The most discriminative property among the images of shopping malls was product information service, and the least discriminative property was convenience. In addition, there showed a meaningful difference in the customers' preference and ideal point on internet shopping malls between the subdivided groups of customers. It was verified that in this internet shopping mall market where competition is getting severe, the result of this study can be a useful foundational data in establishing a marketing strategy of market segmentation.

Noise distribution analysis and noise barrier measures of thermal power plant (화력발전소의 소음분포 해석 및 방음벽 대책)

  • An analysis model of noise map is proposed to evaluate and reduce the acoustical noise of power plant and its surroundings. The sound powers of many noise sources are estimated by measuring the sound levels of major equipments in the power plant. The analysis of noise has been made by using ENPro that is a commercial program for environmental noise prediction. The proposed model is verified by comparing the results from noise analysis and measurement at several points of the power plant units 1 through 4, and residential areas. It is shown that noise map simulation using the proposed model has a reliability, since the overall noise level approximates within the error of ±2 dB. Furthermore, through noise analysis, the increasing effect of noise due to newly established units 5 and 6 on residential areas is also analyzed. Consequently, the noise barrier is designed to meet an environmental noise standard and satisfy low cost and safety conditions.

  • Exceeding the speed limit during vehicle driving is a key factor in the severity of lots of road accidents, and SLIF(Speed Limit Information Function) application is in the initial phase in Korea. SLIF helps the drivers to observe a speed limit when they are driving by providing alert and informing the current limit speed information based on external data using camera and/or digital map, for that reason, environmental conditions could be causes of SLIF malfunctions. In this study, design adequacy analysis of SLIF in respect of false recognition as the Korea traffic environment has been performed. As tentative results, road conditions and structure of speed limit sign as well as system performance often caused misrecognition.

  • In Korea, the railway history has more than 100 years and the KTX(Korean Express Railway) was launched on April 1, 2004. Nevertheless, the safety management of the railway has not been emphasized. Thus this paper proposed the novel frame of the railway safety management system which can secure the railway safety and administer the railway accidents via Management Systems from domestic to international. Secondly, we developed the prototype Management System for the railway accident based on GIS(Geographic Information System) by introducing the concept of "location". This Management System has two parts: space and attribute. Also it provides the map for emergency actions.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Bridge Disaster Management System for bridge safety control using Geographic Information Systems(GIS). The constructed database includes several graphic layers such as basemap, road, bridge location, etc. and has related text attributes for 32 bridges and its facilities in Chinju City. Using the language of Visual Basic 5.0, personal computer based Bridge Disaster Management System which has several functions for bridge safety analysis was developed. The developed GIS based Bridge Disaster Management System has the functions of fast and efficient data searching, file management, searching and management of bridge characteristics, bridge related map viewing, searching and management of traffic survey, bridge inspection and repair work results, and evaluating the bridge safety grades, etc..

  • This study is firstly aiming at diagnosing the present problems of evaluating the performance, especially in the field of disaster and safety management, of LGA (Local Government Authorities) in Korea. The study also deals with developing alternatives to solve a series of barrier factors revealed during the evaluation process using System Dynamics. This paper therefore presents literature review including the official documents published by the government and the performance evaluation studies of LGA. Moreover the authors analyze the current practice of the CELG (Combined Evaluation of Local Governments) as performance management, address and map a series of barrier factors in the CELG process to elaborate the CLDs (Causal-Loop Diagrams) and find solutions using system thinking with the CLDs. According to the analysis results, the core barrier factors to overcome is lack of proactive indicators/indices in the current practice of the CLEG. The authors therefore recommend to develop more proactive indicators that leads to avoid difficulties in measuring the LGA output, as well as to lessen the burden in competition for rankings and goal of the displaced.

Also, see significant difference that analyzes interrelation between leading persons about human mistake in semiconductor industry and connect interrelation of mistake by this. Continuously, dictionary road map to human error theoretical background to basis traditional accidental cause model and modern accident cause model and leading persons. I wish to present model and new model in semiconductor industry by backbone that leading persons of existing scholars who present model of existent human error deduce relation. Finally, I wish to deduce backbone of model of pre-suppression about accident leading person of the person center.

  • 우리나라에서 원자력 시설의 안전 확보를 위한 현장 규제는 원전 부지내에 설치되어 운용되고 있는 주재관실과 방사능 재난 발생에 대응하기 위한 현장방사능방재지휘센터 등으로 분산되어 있다. 원유 고유가, 에너지 안보, 및 기후 변화 협약 등에 대한 대응책으로, 신규 원자력 시설의 건설이 진행 중에 있으며, 이에 따라 원자력 규제 대상이 증가하고 있다. 지역주민이 신뢰하는 원자력 시설의 안전 규제의 필요성에 따라 현장 규제의 업무량도 증가하고 현장 규제 요건도 강화되고 있는 추세이다. 분산되어 있는 원자력 안전규제 시스템을 통합적인 체계로 전환하기 위한 방안들 가운데, 이 연구에서는 규제의 효율성/효과성을 향상시키기 위해 원자력 안전 지역사무소의 설치가 고려되었다. 이 연구의 주요 목적은 시스템 다이내믹스 기법을 활용한 지역사무소 설치의 타당성 모델을 제시하는 것이다. 이 SD 모델을 통해 지역사무소 설치가 규제 효과성을 포함한 다른 변수들에 미치는 영향을 전체론적 (holistic) 관점에서 평가할 수 있다. 이 SD 모델에서 이해관계자 (예: 중앙행정기관, 규제기관, 지방자지단체, NGO, 국민 등) 각각의 우선적인 목표는 갈등적 다중목표가 된다. 이러한 다중목표는 원자력 안전 규제의 의사결정 단계에서 거버넌스(governance) 체제 (예: 규제 기관, 사업자, 지역주민 등이 참여하는 체제)의 구축, 원자력 관련 민원 해결을 통해 성취될 수 있다. 시스템 다이내믹스 접근법의 주요 변수 정의 단계에서는 다양한 관점의 상호영향을 고려하면서 지역사무소 설치에 필요한 기본 개념이 도출되었다. 시스템 다이내믹스 접근법의 모델링 단계에서는 이들 기본 개념에서부터 지역사무소 설치 타당성 정책의 인과 지도(causal map)가 작성되었다. 이러한 인과 지도들로부터 지역사무소의 설치 타당성으로 이끄는 다양한 자기-강화 (self-reinforcing) 루프들이 발견되었다.
