  • In this paper, we propose the sensor fusing method for the obstacle avoidance of guiding robot for the visually impaired In our system, we acquire obstacles distances information using ultrasonic sensors, and its width is acquired by image sensor. We also compute avoidance angle using are distance and width information gained by sensor. After the robot avoid the obstacle by computed angle, the robot returns to its original path using odometry. The robot consists of the SA1110-based controller, sensory part using sonar array and image sensor, and motion part using differential drive for climbing stairs. This system use the embedded linux for OS, and also is developed by the QT/Embedded for GUI.

  • The effects of the addition of nanocrystalline Y2O3 powder on the microstructure and superconducting properties have been investigated in YBCO films prepared by TFA-MOD process. Precursor solution doped with extra $Y_2O_3$ Powder was prepared by adding $Y_2O_3$ powder into a stoichiometic precursor solution with a cation ratio of Y:Ba:Cu=1:2:3. Coating solutions with and without $Y_2O_3$ doping were coated on $LaAlO_3(100)$ single crystal by a dip coating method, cacination and conversion heat treatments were performed at the controlled atmosphere containing water vapor Current carry capacity(Jc) of YBCO film was enhanced about 50% by $Y_2O_3$ doping. It is thought that the enhancement of Jc is due to the better connectivity of YBCO grains and/or the flux pinning by the presence of nanocrystalline $Y_2O_3$ Particles embedded in YBCO grains.

  • Sn-Cu alloy powders were prepared via a simple chemical reduction method for the negative electrode materials in lithiumion batteries. The addition of Cu can suppress the growth of Sn particles during synthetic process. Furthermore, the Cu also acts as a matrix phase against the volume change during cycling. With increasing amount of the Cu, a stable $Cu_6Sn_5$ phase formed in the Sn-Cu alloy and its cycle performance greatly enhanced depending on the Cu content. To promote the generation of the $Cu_6Sn_5$ phase, the synthesis temperature is raised to $60-100^{\circ}C$ from the ambient temperature. The Sn-Cu alloy powders prepared at elevated temperatures showed remarkable cycle performances. The Sn-Cu alloy powder obtained at $60^{\circ}C$ exhibited a significantly high volumetric capacity of over 2,000 mAh/cc at the 50th cycle.

  • 1MVA high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer with double pancake windings made of BSCCO-2223 HTS tapes was designed and manufactured. And prototype transformer with the same capacity was manufactured also. The each rated voltage of the HTS transformer is 22.9 kV and 6.6 kV. Four parallel BSCCO-2223 HTS tapes were wound in the double pancake windings of low voltage side. In order to distribute the currents equally in each HTS tapes, the three times transposition was performed between the double pancake windings. The windings of prototype transformer were wound using copper tape with the same size as BSCCO-2223 HTS tape. The core of the transformer was designed and manufactured as a shell type core made of laminated silicon steel plate. The several characteristics tests for the prototype transformer were performed in liquid nitrogen and insulation tests were accomplished also.

  • A fishing lamp is the instrument for attracting distributed fish to a certain place, and is the lighting system mainly used in fishery. In the inshore fishing, most fishing lamps are used for squid and hairtail jigging fishing, and the light source of the fishing lamps mainly used is metal halide with 1.5 KW in electric power consumption. We will analyze the irradiance distribution according to depth because squid is attracted towards light. To analyze irradiance distribution by such fishing lamps, data for seawater Type-II among the seawater types defined in 1976 are applied to East Sea. However, the Type-II data have limitations in analyzing precise seawater transmission characteristics, due to insufficient information on deep seawater. This paper analyzed the irradiance distribution of fishing lamps using the measurement of transmission characteristics in the seawater in East Sea up to 100 m underwater instead of Type-II data, which is not sufficient for transmission. A compensation factor was drawn between the actual measurement data and Type-II data through seawater transmission characteristics simulation.
