As part of the free semester program, the 'Gardener for a day' program in the Korea National Arboretum was newly developed in 2018. The program was developed as a free semester program reflecting the works of a 'gardener' who performs the planning, preparation, maintenance and management of exhibition gardens. This 'Gardener for a day' program was applied to a total of 106 middle school students in October 2018. Educational elements were extracted from Korea National Arboretum exhibition gardens and career exploration of gardeners. The program was designed to provide education on theory and practices, including watching the gardener video, visiting the gardener booth, meeting with actual gardeners at Korea National Arboretum, visiting two exhibition gardens, and participating in three types of practical training as a gardener. A survey about program satisfaction and education was conducted after the program to analyze the students' satisfaction with the program (contents, management, instructor), free semester program (career planning, occupational attitude, independence), and education (awareness of forest biospecies, preservation will). The analysis showed that the following results: satisfaction with the program (score 4.0), free semester program (score 3.8), and education (score 4.0). Comparative analysis of the pretest-posttest questionnaires showed that there were significant educational effects in career planning, occupational attitude, and awareness of forest biospecies.

DMZ 일원은 정전협정으로 비무장지대(DMZ: Demilitarized Zone)가 설정된 이래 민간인의 출입이 엄격히 금지된 채로 외부의 간섭에서 벗어난 독보적 공간으로 보전되어 오고 있다. 하지만 일부 지역은 자연재해 및 군사적 목적으로 훼손되어 생태적으로 교란된 지역이 발생하여 생태적 건강성이 저하되고 있다. 무엇보다 군사분계선 남쪽 2km에 설치된 남방한계선은 군사적 목적에 따라 시계확보를 위해 불모지작전을 수행하여 생태적 교란 및 토양침식에 의해 생태계가 열악한 실정이다. DMZ 내 생태교란지 식물복원 연구는 DMZ내 생태교란지를 하나의 특수한 생태계로 간주하여, 향후 DMZ내 생태교란지에 특화된 식생복원 체계를 마련하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 DMZ 155마일(248km)에 대해서 위성영상분석을 수행하여 생태교란지 유형화분류 연구를 수행하여 7개 유형(저지대초지, 서부저지대산지, 저습지 및 수공간 지역 등)으로 분류하였다. 또한 DMZ 생태교란지에 적합한 식물종 선정을 위하여 DMZ 전역을 대상으로 식물상 조사를 실시하여, 분포가 확인된 종을 대상으로 도입 가능종의 검토, 종자 수집 및 채종원 조성을 실시하였다. 추후 DMZ 생태교란지 식물복원에 적합한 공법연구를 수행하고자 한다. 시계확보를 위해 수행되는 불모지 작전에 적합한 종의 선정, 선정된 종을 대상으로 유사환경 조성에 따른 공법 적용, 적용된 공법에 따른 관리 방안 연구를 함께 수행하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통해 DMZ 일원에 특화된 공법개발이 이루어진다면 불모지 작전 및 관리 최소화가 이루어지고, 무엇보다 우리나라 종자 및 야생화 산업의 활성화와 현재 파편화 되어 있는 생태축이 하나의 축으로 연결 될 것이라고 기대해 본다.

본 연구는 강원도 태백시에 위치한 연화산의 관속식물상을 조사하였다. 2022년 4월부터 9월까지 총 14회에 걸쳐 현지조사를 수행한 결과 87과 282속 441종 15아종 41변종 8품종으로 총 505분류군이 확인되었다. 이 중 특산식물은 22분류군이었다. 국립수목원이 지정한 적색목록에 따른 위협범주 및 준위협에 속하는 식물은 4분류군으로, 위급, 위기, 취약, 준위협 범주에서 각각 1분류군이 확인되었다. 식물구계학적 특정식물은 총 102분류군이 확인되었으며, V등급에는 1분류군, IV등급9분류군, III등급 34분류군이 속했다. 침입외래식물은 34분류군, 생태계교란식물은 3분류군이 확인되었다. 조사지의 도시화지수는 12.8%, 귀화율은 6.7%로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 연화산의 생태적 가치 보전과 관리방안 수립을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

During the 2014 survey of the mushroom flora of Gwangneung forest in South Korea, we collected two specimens of boletoid mushroom growing on a felled tree of Pinus koraiensis. These specimens were characterized by a light brown to reddish-brown pileus with appressed tomentum, pore surface bluing instantly when bruised, golden-yellow mycelium at the base of stipe, and lignicolous habitat. Both specimens were identified as Buchwaldoboletus lignicola, a rare basidiomycete, based on morphological characteristics and sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS; fungal barcode). Here, we describe these specimens and provide the first report of this genus in South Korea.

Adenostemma madurense DC. (Asteraceae, Adenostemma L.), which is known to be distributed in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Nepal was recently found on Jeju Island in Korea. It is morphologically allied to A. madurense but distinguished from A. lavenia (L.) Kuntze by having such characters as broadly ovate or ovate to oblong leaves, $15-21cm\;long{\times}7-12cm$ wide and smooth achenes with slightly muricate at the upper. Furthermore, A. madurense is found in dry mountain slopes in evergreen forests while Adenostemma lavenia occures in the wetland and side of pond. This taxon was named 'San-mul-meo-wi' in Korean based on its habitat. We provide a description, illustrations, photographs, and the key to the related species in Korea.

한반도 고유 식물자원인 특산식물 물들메나무의 지리학적 분포 범위에 대한 고찰을 시도 하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 IUCN 적색목록 평가 자료 확보를 위해 IUCN Red List Criteria B의 분포범위(Extent of occurrence)와 점유면적(Area of occupancy)을 측정하였다. 물들메나무 분포도 작성을 위해 분포가 언급된 관련 문헌자료, 국립수목원 표본관(KH) 소장 표본정보, 국가생물종지식정보시스템(Nature) 종발생정보 DB, 그리고 현장조사 자료를 활용하였다. 이를 통해 한반도 특산식물 물들메나무는 지리산을 중심으로 전라남 북도, 경상남 북도 및 충청북도에 분포하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 북방한계지역은 경상북도 보현산으로 추정된다. 수집된 분포정보를 바탕으로 IUCN Red List Criteria B의 분포범위(Extent of occurrence)과 점유면적(Area of occupancy)을 계산한 결과 각각 $25,183km^2$, $96km^2$로 나타났다. 하지만 정확한 보전지위 평가를 위해서는 점유면적, 분포범위, 서식지 면적, 개체군 크기에 대한 지속적인 하락과 극단적인 변동을 측정할 수 있는 모니터링과 객관적인 자료가 요구된다.

Tofieldia ulleungensis, a new species of the genus Tofieldia from the Nari Basin on Ulleungdo Island, Korea, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to T. yoshiiana var. koreana in terms of the plant height and in that it has having a long raceme, whitish tepals, and whitish stigma, but can be readily distinguished from the latter by the presence of 1-2 linear cauline leaves, a slightly bent leaf apex, basal leaves which are twice as wide, a shorter pedicel, a revolute style, and crescent-shaped seeds.

We have discovered Vicia grandiflora Scop., a newly invasive alien species in Baekun-ri, Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea. This species is native to regions from Central and Southeast Europe to Central Asia and Iran and is reported as an invasive species in North America and Japan. This species is similar to the Vicia sativa complex (V. sativa subsp. sativa, V. sativa subsp. nigra) but can be readily distinguished by the undivided ovate to semi-hastate stipules of the upper leaves, yellowish petals, large size of its flower, and elongated hilum. In the field, V. grandiflora grows in disturbed sites near cultivated land, suggesting that their seeds are typically transported by vehicles along with fertilizer or livestock feed. Here, we present the morphological description, photographs, and sites of V. grandiflora growth, which will be useful in guiding the management of this invasive alien plant.

'늘푸름 1 (Neulpureum 1)'은 국립수목원에서 육종한 품종으로, 좀비비추와 원예품종인 Hosta 'Krossa Regal'을 교잡 후 얻은 개체를 특성에 따라 선발하여 육종하였다. 선발은 잎의 색이 진하고 잎에 존재하는 굴곡의 크기가 작은 개체를 기준으로 하여 선발하였다. 그 결과 대조품종에 비해 짙은 녹색을 유지하는 기간이 길고, 초장이 짧으며, 풍부한 잎을 가지고 있는 개체가 선발되었다. 이렇게 선발된 개체는 무성증식방법으로 개체수를 늘렸으며, 3년간 재배하며 특성을 고정 및 조사하였다. 이렇게 육종된 '늘푸름 1 (Neulpureum 1)'은 가지고 있는 특징 때문에 반음지의 지피용 뿐만 아니라 분화용으로도 이용될 수 있는 만큼 활용적 가치가 매우 높은 신품종이다.

In this study, we report a new record of the clustered bur-reed Sparganium glomeratum (Laest. ex Beurl.) Beurl., from Yongneup Moor of Daeamsan Mt. in Gangwon-do, Korea. This species is distributed in the cool temperate and circumboreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere. As we recorded this species in a high-altitude wetland, we named it "Du-me-heuk-sam-neung" after the Korean word that translates to "Sparganium found in deep mountains." We provide descriptions of the morphological characteristics, photographs, and detailed illustrations of S. glomeratum, as well as a key to allied taxa in Korea.
