This study was investigated to determine the quality monitoring of distributed materials from Glycyrrhizae Radix (26 samples), Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba (24 samples) according to storage period after $1{\sim}3$ year. We have estimated by identification, purity, loss on drying, ash, acid insoluble ash, extract content, essential oil content, assay and microbial contamination. As a result, Glycyrrhizae Radix (26 samples) were satisfied with the standard of K.P. (Korean Pharmacopoeia) and WHO's microbial contamination limit standard. In the Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba (24 samples), 2 samples were not satisfied with the standard of K.P.(Korean Pharmacopoeia) and WHO's microbial contamination limit standard. The results make practical application of the basic data for the quality control of herbal medicine in storage.

In this paper, we designed and implemented a semantic social network system in Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (abbreviated as KIOM). Our social network system provides the capabilities such as tracking search, ontology reasoning, ontology graph view, and personal information input, update and management. Tracking search provides the search results by the research information of relevant researchers using ontology, in addition to those by keywords. Ontology reasoning provides the reasoning for experts, mentors, and personal contacts. Users can easily browse the personal connections among researchers by traversing the ontology by graph viewer. These allows KIOM researchers to search other researchers who could aid the researches and to easily share their research information.

Oriental medicine statistics are essential in research planning, research evaluation, and policy decision based on objective data. However, integrated administration of such statistics is not presently possible in the oriental medicine field, which has been slow in incorporating information communication technology. In an effort to address this problem, the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM) developed an oriental medicine statistical system in 2009, and the system has been offered in the traditional medicine information portal of OASIS. However, according to a 2010 survey targeting OASIS users, those surveys reported that needs for a system where various statistical data can be extracted via an interactive approach to multidimensional data. As a result of an analysis of the functions of the existing system, it was found that it is necessary to array and arithmetically analyze Stats Value, Drill Up & Drill Down, and Pivot. To this end, the existing DB schema should be redesigned. Based on our analysis result, we redesigned the database into a structure that is applicable to the reverse pivot algorithm. We used J2EE/JSP and a Flex framework to design and develop an oriental medicine statistical system that can provide multidimensional statistical data. Considering that the improved oriental medicine statistical system is planned to be offered by OASIS of KIOM, utilization and value of oriental medicine statistical data are expected to be enhanced.

The purpose of this study is standardization of herbology terminology. For a long time, it was important problem that the Oriental Medicine didn't have standardization of terminology. For this reason, development of oriental medicine has been slow. We studied how we search methods of herb efficacy by the use of terminology table. In this way, we will suggest basic data and helpful methods of standardization of Oriental Medicine terminology.

Objectives : In this study, we survey papers about the combined therapy of oriental medicine and western medicine in oriental medicine viewpoint. Methods : First, we collected research papers on combined treatment, and we found 70 papers in the two internet sites, 'OASIS' and 'KISTI', using the keywords 'combined treatment', 'collaborated diagnosis', 'oriental-western medicine', and 'western-oriental medicine'. Then we analyzed them according to year, oriental-western medicine, diseases, research methods and subjects. Results & Conclusions : Researches for combined therapy had some problems as follows : First, studies have been made only for limited diseases like cancer, infection, stroke, etc. Second, methods of research are also limited. Some methods such as in vivo, in vitro and case-report are used repeatedly. Third, only the positive aspects of the combined therapy are proposed. We don't find the side effects of the combined therapy at all. To solve these problems, more objective and balanced studies such as RCT for various diseases should be performed.
