FTA가 유가공업에 미치는 영향과 원유 수급 전망 (The Effect on Dairy Industry of FTA and the Raw Milk Demand and Supply Outlook)

  • The FTA(Free Trade Agreements) are loading the world trade liberalization. Entering into FTA with Chile on 1 Apr 2004, Korea is trying to tie with Singapore and Japan in FTA. It also has a long-term plan for free-trading with China, USA, ASEAN, Canada and India. The portion of the dairy products imported from Chile, Japan and Singapore is under 1% of total dairy product imports. However, in the long run the conclusion of FTA with dairy product exporting countries such as USA, Australia, New Zealand and Netherlands will give a big impact on the dairy industry with abrupt increment in dairy product imports. Especially, whole and skim milk powder imports which are imported on the high tariff rate expect to increase. Furthermore mixed milk powder(Food preparations of goods and other whey powders) imports which domestic price is higher than world market also will dramatically increase. The milk powder stocks have increased since 2002. That made the government carry out some policies. Those include slaughtering milking cow(2002) and terminating the dairy farm enterprise and decreasing in milk production(2003). Also the case of artificial insemination by a Hanwoo fertilized egg has increased with the rise of Hanwoo farm price in 2003. By those reason, it is forecasted that the downward trend in the number of cow will be continued in 2004. It is also forecasted that the raw milk production in 2004 will decrease 4.4% compared to last year due to decreasing in the number of milking cow and raw milk collecting quota.

  • In recent years, developed and developing country such as U.S., Japan, and China push forward to enhance their manufacturing industry through national policies such as advanced manufacturing(U.S.), Industrie 4.0 (Germany), and Made in China 2025. Also, in Korea, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy(MOTIE) claimed Manufacturing3.0 for encouraging domestic manufacturing industry. Manufacturing industry plays an important role in encouraging economy and employment. In this paper, we survey, analyze and summarize the current national policy for enhancing manufacturing industry.

중국과 대만간 중재판정의 상호집행에 관한 연구 (A Study on Enforcement of Arbitral Awards between China and Taiwan)

  • China and Taiwan had opened complete Three Linkages era December 2008, in the 59 years. The improvement of two countries' relationship is expecting to spur two countries more on the economy exchange. However the increasement of investment and trade between two countries will increase disputes to ratio. In order to settle the disputes related to economy between two countries, the most favorite way is to use arbitral system which involve less public power. After China and Taiwan recognized this point, they announced provisions which allow to solve controversies through the arbitration between parties of two countries since 1980, and prepared legal basis for dispute settlement between two countries. However, because China and Taiwan do not authorize each party as a country, the execution application made by each party based on New York Convention related to foreign arbitral awards cannot be approved. Because of these kind of reasons China and Taiwan should agree in order to guarantee mutual execution of arbitral awards which is an ultimate purpose of arbitration. However because of the political situation of two countries there are provisions related to execution for arbitral awards decided by each party. In this paper, I separated the provision related to mutual execution for arbitral awards of each party of China and Taiwan, examined exposed problems, and suggested ways to improve. It can support some of assistance and implication to establish basis of arbitral system between South Korea and North Korea and to suggest direction to derive through this kind of study.

Pork Production in China, Japan and South Korea

  • Global pork markets are becoming more competitive, riding the wind of the bilateral free trade agreement. China is the world's largest pork producer with nearly 50% of the world's total production. China's fast growing economy has provided its people with higher purchasing power, resulting in a rapid expansion of the Chinese swine industry over the past decades. Worldwide, China consumes the greatest amount of pork and it is believed that this trend will continue. Japan is the world's largest pork importing country, even though it also produces a lot of pork. The Japanese swine industry encounters weighty obstacles in production costs and environmental limitations which result in reduced domestic supply and creates the situation in which Japan has to import a significant amount of pork for their consumption. South Korea is also a large buyer of pork, with a status greatly influenced by the struggle that the country has faced with Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) which occurred in 2000, 2002 and 2010. High production costs, low production efficiency, and forced culling following the FMD outbreak resulted in the loss of many hog farming households in the country, reducing supply of domestic pork in the face of continued demand. Overall, pork production in these economically important countries can greatly impact the industry globally. The goal of this review paper is to describe pork production in China, Japan, and South Korea and discuss these countries' role in global pork export markets.

Relationship Between Dry Ports and Regional Economy: Evidence from Yangtze River Economic Belt

  • With the evolution of containerization and globalization of supply chains, aspects of port functions have made the transition from the sea to the inland region that forms the dry port. To explore the relationship between dry ports and regional economic development, this study uses a gravity model and forecast model to analyze 1,040 observations in 104 cities (22 dry port cities) along the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) from 2008 to 2017. The model includes economic variables, logistics variables, foreign relations variables, and human capital variables. It was found that the dry port is positively correlated with trade volume. Compared with a city without a dry port, the trade volume of a city with a dry port will increase 0.099 times. It can be concluded that a dry port is crucial for the economic development of the YREB. It was also found that per capita GDP as an economic variable, road area and rail number as logistics variables, and foreign relation variables are positively correlated with trade volume, while the human capital variable has no significant effect on trade volume. In addition, governmental policy implications are addressed from the aspects of dry port and industry cluster caused by foreign investment.

한국과 중국의 스트리트패션 비교에 대한 연구 (The Research of street fashion between China and Korea)

  • China adopted a free market economy system and is about to enter into the WTO(World Trade Organization). It has now emerged as one of the most promising markets in the world for the near future. The purpose of this study was to investigate in Chinese and Korea women's street fashion and to suggest basic information for high quality clothing merchandising for China. The subjects in this study were 800 photos it was taken at the fashion street and college in Beijing(400) and Seoul(400). The survey was taken from December, 1999. SAS(Statistical Analysis System) is used for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, $X^2$-test. The results of this study are as follows. Examination on the Korean and Chinese street fashion showed that Korean and Chinese have different preference for silhouette, length, and color. China has different sensibility of the items of clothing. The Chinese students prefer classical and individual Chinese street clothing. Korean student has shown very fashionable street clothing all items. It is needed to different merchandising project for clothing in China.

한·중 FTA의 대중국 자동차 무역 영향 고찰 (Analysis on the Effect of Korea-China FTA in the Automobile Trade)

  • 다자간 무역기구인 WTO는 전통적 교역 분야 이외에 회원국의 국내 정책까지 관여하여 지역 정부의 역할과 자주성을 위협함에 따라 최근에는 양자간 FTA 체결이 증가하고 있다. 이와 같은 통상 환경 변화를 활용하기 위하여 한국과 중국은 FTA 체결을 위한 실질적인 합의에 도달하였다. 일반적으로 자동차 분야는 우리나라가 국제 경쟁력을 지닌 주력 산업으로 분류되어 한 중 FTA의 수혜 업종으로 기대되었으며, 실제로 분석 결과 한국의 자동차 산업이 중국에 비해 세계 시장에서 비교우위를 지닌 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 한 중 FTA 관세 철폐 계획에서 자동차는 양허 대상 품목에서 제외되어 우리가 기대했던 관세 철폐를 통한 한국산 자동차의 가격 경쟁력을 누릴 수 없게 되었다. 이에 따라 우리 자동차 업계는 중국의 비관세 장벽 철폐 등 투자 환경 개선을 통해 효율적인 대중국 투자 환경을 조성해야 하고 한 중 FTA상 자동차의 양허 편입에 대비하여 중국 내 세계 유수 자동차 업체의 대한국 수출 확대 가능성 방지를 위한 엄격한 원산지 규정안을 마련해야 한다. 또한 중국 내 브랜드 전략을 더욱 강화하며 친환경 차량 개발 지원을 통해 중국의 환경 정책에 부응하면서 관련 시장을 창출 확대해야 한다.

중국에서 개혁·개방이후 FDI유입에 영향을 미치는 요인들 (The Determinants of FDI Inflow after Reform-Opening of China)

  • 중국은 1979년부터 본격적으로 시장경제체제를 도입함으로써 급격한 경제성장을 이루었는데, 본고는 저임금과 중국정부의 적극적인 외자유치정책을 활용하기 위해 밀려들어온 외국인투자에 어떤 요인들이 영향을 미쳤는지를 검토하기 위해 1979년부터 2013년까지의 패널데이터를 이용해서 각 성·시의 고유한 특성까지 활용하는 실증분석을 시도한다. 실증분석을 위해 본고는 확률효과모형, 고정효과모형, Pooled OLS, 그리고 확률계수모형을 사용하는데, Pooled OLS와 확률계수모형의 결과는 본 연구의 분석결과와 비교를 위해서 제시된다. Hausman' test 결과 Random Effect Model보다는 Fixed Effect Model이 더 효율적인 분석결과를 제시하는 것으로 나타나 이를 근거로 중국정부에 대한 정책적 시사점을 제시한다. 분석결과는 FDI유입에 각 성·시의 지역소득수준, 자본량, 통신비는 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 고속도로는 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난다.

중국 해운산업의 국제경쟁력 비교연구 (A Comparative Study on the International Competitiveness of Chinese Shipping Industry)

  • 세계 국제 화물 무역의 80% 이상이 해상운송을 통하여 운송되고 있다. 그래서 국제무역량이 많은 국가들은 해운산업의 중요성을 인식하고 자국의 해운산업을 육성하기 위한 정책을 추진해왔다. 최근 세계 경제, 국제무역, 세계 원유 가격 및 다른 불확실적인 요소들의 변화로 인하여 세계 해운 시장에 있어 경쟁이 더욱 심해지고 있다. 해안선에 많이 접해 있고 해외 경제의존도가 높은 국가인 태평양 연안 국가 예를 들어 일본, 중국, 한국의 해운산업은 최근 비약적인 발전을 해 오고 있다. 특히 중국은 급속히 증가하는 무역량을 바탕으로 해운산업의 성장이 급속도로 이루어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 태평양 연안에 속해 있는 주요 해운국가인 일본, 중국, 한국, 싱가포르, 미국의 해운산업의 국제 경쟁력을 상호 비교하며 중국 해운산업에 경쟁력에 대한 강화방안을 제시하는 데 있다. M. Porter의 다이아몬드 모델을 바탕으로 AHP분석 방법을 통한 해운경쟁력 요소를 도출하고 이를 통해 주요 해운국과 중국 해운산업의 경쟁력을 비교해 본 결과 해운산업의 질적 요소에서 취약하기 때문에 이에 대한 개선 정책이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

동북아 경제중심에 대한 금융적 지역주의 접근 (Monetary Regionalism and North-east Asian Economic Base)

  • Balassian Approach of regional economic integration has been mainly aimed at improving conditions for regional trade since 1960s. After the financial crises of the late 1990s, however, the theoretical approach to regional integration will have to be a different one as regionalism have to offer enhanced protection against crises. The aim of this paper, above all, is to provide a theoretical framework for the emerging new monetary regionalism. Regions that wish to strengthen their co-operation in monetary and financial affairs today have the option of monetary regionalism without trade agreement. East Asian region will become an increasingly important domain within which to explore enhanced protection against financial crises. And as Korea seems to play a crucial role in building regional integration among ASEAN+3(Korea, China and Japan) countries, alternative policy for Korean economy to be the North-east Asian Economic Base need to be schemed on the basis of Balassian as well as monetary regionalism.
