고해상도 KMAPP 자료를 활용한 제주국제공항에서 저층 윈드시어 예측 (Low-Level Wind Shear (LLWS) Forecasts at Jeju International Airport using the KMAPP)

  • Low-level wind shear (LLWS) events on glide path at Jeju International Airport (CJU) are evaluated using the Aircraft Meteorological Data Relay (AMDAR) and Korea Meteorological Administration Post-Processing (KMAPP) with 100 m spatial resolution. LLWS that occurs in the complex terrains such as Mt. Halla on the Jeju Island affects directly aircraft approaching to and/or departing from the CJU. For this reason, accurate prediction of LLWS events is important in the CJU. Therefore, the use of high-resolution Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP)-based forecasts is necessary to cover and resolve these small-scale LLWS events. The LLWS forecasts based on the KMAPP along the glide paths heading to the CJU is developed and evaluated using the AMDAR observation data. The KMAPP-LLWS developed in this paper successfully detected the moderate-or-greater wind shear (strong than 5 knots per 100 feet) occurred on the glide paths at CJU. In particular, this wind shear prediction system showed better performance than conventional 1-D column-based wind shear forecast.

LONG-SLIT SPECTROSCOPY OF PARSEC-SCALE JETS FROM DG TAURI

  • We present observational results from optical long-slit spectroscopy of parsec-scale jets of DG Tau. From HH 158 and HH 702, the optical emission lines of Hα, [O i] λλ6300, 6363, [N ii] λλ6548, 6584, and [S ii] λλ6716, 6731 are obtained. The kinematics and physical properties (i.e., electron density, electron temperature, ionization fraction, and mass-loss rate) are investigated along the blueshifted jet up to 650′′ distance from the source. For HH 158, the radial velocity ranges from −50 to −250 km s−1. The proper motion of the knots is 0.′′196 − 0.′′272 yr−1. The electron density is ∼104 cm−3 close to the star, and decreases to ∼102 cm−3 at 14′′ away from the star. Ionization fraction indicates that the gas is almost neutral in the vicinity of the source. It increases up to over 0.4 along the distance. HH 702 is located at 650′′ from the source. It shows ∼ −80 km s−1 in the radial velocity. Its line ratios are similar to those at knot C of HH 158. The mass-loss rate is estimated to be about ∼ 10−7 M yr−1, which is similar to values obtained from previous studies.

A catalog of infrared supernova remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud

  • We present a catalog of infrared supernova remnants (SNRs) in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). We have searched the Spitzer archival data for infrared counterparts to all 45 known SNRs in the LMC, and identified 21 which is 47% of the known SNRs. Seven of them are newly detected: SNR 0450-70.9, SNR in N4, N103B, DEM L241, DEM L249, DEM L316A, and DEM L316B. All newly discovered SNRs show emission at several IRAC 3.4, 4.5, 5.8, and 8.0 micron bands and/or MIPS 24 and 70 micron bands. Most SNRs show shell structures. We derive infrared fluxes of these newly detected SNRs. The catalog contains general information of each SNR such as location, age, and SN type together with AKARI and/or Spitzer fluxes. For the entire SNR sample, we examine their infrared colors and the possible correlation of the infrared fluxes with the fluxes at other wavelengths. For the newly detected SNRs except the SNR in N4, we also performed follow-up imaging observations of [Fe II] 1.644 micron line using IRIS2 mounted on the Anglo Australian Telescope. Three out of six SNRs show [Fe II] emission corresponding to their infrared shells. [Fe II] knots are also detected in N103B which show good spatial correlation to infrared emission seen at Spitzer images as well as knotty $H{\alpha}$ emission. We investigate the characteristics and origin of the infrared emission in individual SNRs, and discuss the environmental and evolutionary effects.

해저자원(海底資源) 개발용(開發用) Semi-Submersible 설계기준(設計基準)의 정립(定立)을 위한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Establishment of Basic Design Concept for Semi-Submersibles)

  • In this paper design criteria for semi-submersibles, effective at the stage of basic design, are reviewed first generally. Thereafter an extensive study is focussed on essential problematic areas such as design load, heaving motion, overall structural analysis and welding technique. The necessity for this kind of research is apparent in the light of the fact that ocean exploration and exploitation becomes extended to deeper ocean and that semi-submersibles are the most favorite unit for operation under this environment. In some sense principles in naval architecture are indeed applicable to the design of semi-submersible. However, because of the difference in geometry between ships and semi-submersibles, there are significant deviations in design method. A thorough discussion is made on particular behaviours of a semi-submersible in stability, wave load, motion characteristics and structural responses. Then some calculation-procedures and design guidelines are tentatively proposed. A numerical calculation for a semi-submersible Sedco 708 is exemplified for better understanding of the concept. The structure has 4 main and another 4 secondary stabilizing columns with catamaran-type lower hull. In this example design condition is supposed to be 28m wave height, 90 knots wind speed for survival condition and seastate 6 for operational condition in water of 100m depth. The numerical result implies that the actual design of this model can be assessed close to optimum. Further intensive research is strongly required in the subject fields of dynamic stability, rational evaluation of wave load statistical basis for fatigue life judgement.

비파괴 시험방법을 이용한 낙엽송재 원목의 휨강도 특성 평가 (Bending strength assessment of Larix logs by nondestructive evaluation techniques)

  • 목재의 기계적 특성을 평가하기 위하여 여러 가지 비파괴 측정 기술이 도입되고 있다. 본 실험은 낙엽송(Larix kaempferi Carr.) 소경재 원목을 초음파의 통과 속도와 종진동의 고유진동수를 이용한 비파괴 측정 기술로 영계수를 측정하여 휨강도 실험을 통해 얻은 실측 영계수와 휨파괴계수의 상관관계를 검토하였다. 실험에는 50본의 소경재 원목이 사용되었다. 종진동의 고유진동수를 이용한 영계수와 실측 영계수는 비교적 높은 상관관계를 나타내었다. 초음파를 이용한 비파괴 영계수 측정은 옹이의 출현빈도가 높은 원목의 선별에 효과적이었으며 종진동의 고유진동수를 이용한 측정은 할렬의 출현빈도가 높은 원목의 선별에 효과적임을 확인하였다.

등기하 해석을 위한 요소망 정제와 후처리 방법 (Mesh Refinement for Isogeometric Analysis and Post-Processing)

  • 본 논문은 비정형의 정확한 형상 설계와 구조해석을 위해 넙스 기저함수를 기반으로 한 변수들로 생성된 평연의 등기하 해석법과 해석 결과에 대한 후처리 방법을 제시한다. 제어점, 매듭값, 차수들로 구성되는 변수들을 인터페이스 기법을 통해 변화시킴으로써 다양한 기하 형상을 구축할 수 있다. 등기하 해석에 사용되는 기저함수는 기하형상 구축에 사용되는 함수와 동일하여 형상의 정확한 설계와 해석이 가능하다. 등기하 해석을 위한 요소망 생성을 위해 h-p-k refinement 과정을 수행함으로써 기존 형상의 변형없이 요소망을 생성하여 구조해석을 수행하였다. 해석에 의한 결과값인 제어점의 변위에 대한 시각화를 위해 IGES 포맷과 넙스기반 3D 설계 프로그램 라이노와의 인터페이스 과정을 수행하여 최종 변형 형상 표현을 위한 후처리 방법을 제시한다.

민속복식의 가변성 스타일링 유형분류 (The Type Classification on Modifiable Styling Methods in Wearing Folk Costumes)

  • Many varieties in folk costumes have inspired fashion designs for a long time. Each country, with a unique style of its own reflects their own traditions, beliefs, customs and morals into their traditional costumes. The traditional methods of creating different ways of drapery methods by using only a rectangular piece of cloth have been passed down from generation to generation and it is still used today. This way of styling has been developed mainly in the Middle East, Asia and Africa and the modifiable ways of creating drapery wearing methods are as follows. The first modifiable styling method is changing the purpose of wearing costumes according to the needs and the wants of the person who wears it. The second method is exposing the knots on the surface of the garments and by doing this, there was no visible difference on the aesthetic formation and it did not alternate for a long time. This means that simple knot shapes have been used to tie edges of rectangular fabrics. The third method is a wrapping type of modifiable styling method, which has been used most commonly in folk costumes because there are lots of ways to wrap a rectangular cloth around the body. The fourth way is the fixed type of modifiable styling method and this method can only be noticed only in the Moroccan Izar using fibulas and belts to alter the shape of the Izar. The fifth method is the composite type of modifiable styling method. This method starts by cutting out cylindrical shapes of fabrics and then wraps or twists it to fit the body. The most significant character of modifiable styling methods in folk costumes is to use rectangular cloths, which varies only in ratio of length, width and sizes. Therefore, this study suggests that rectangular cloths can create enormous amounts of fashion styling which can be easily adapted and created in everyday fashion life.

심수륜(沈秀崙)묘 출토 배자(背子)의 형태적 특징 고찰 (A Study on the Morphological Feature of Baeja Excavated from the Tomb of Sim, Su-ryun(沈秀崙))

  • Baeja(背子), which was excavated from the tomb of Sim, Su-ryun(沈秀崙, 1534-1589), a civil official, has a distinctive pattern. Two rectangles are connected by button knots on both shoulders and below the armpits, and surround the front and back of the upper body. Also, the back is shorter than the front, while the center-front is not opened. It also has a round neckline without a collar. Jeojuji(楮注紙), which is a traditional Korean paper made from mulberry bark, is put between the outer shell and lining of this clothing as an interlining. The purpose of this study is to perform a morphological feature analysis of the Baeja to examine its characteristics and name, and clothes with similar features, attire relic, pictorial and ceramic materials as well as precedent studies were used in the analysis. The Baeja, which was excavated from the tomb of Sim, Su-ryun, has the same pattern as Yangdang(裲檔), which was worn in the ancient northern region and China. Its composition and the way it was worn are very simple. Also, the shorter back length can be used as evidence that it was worn as everyday outer clothing, and not in a ceremony. Jeojuji, used as an interlining, made it easy to sew and maintain attire pattern and played a role of maintaining warmth. Therefore, this Baeja is presumed to be an outer clothing simply worn in the everyday life for convenience and warmth. In regards to its morphological feature, it was most likely a Yangdang in Joseon Dynasty.

빙해항행선박의 선수부 형상과 쇄빙능력에 관한 연구 (A Study on Bow Hull Form and Icebreaking Capability of Icebreaking Vessels)

  • 극지방의 천연자원의 수송에 필수적인 빙해항행선박은 금후 우리나라의 조선산업이 지향해야 할 기술집약형 선박중 하나로서 국제경쟁에 대비하여 독자적인 연구가 요구되는 분야이다. 본 연구는 빙해항행선박 기본설계의 중요한 인자인 선수부 형상과 평탄빙에서의 쇄빙능력 사이의 상관관계를 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 통상 평탄빙(level ice)에서 선박의 전진속도를 3-4 knots로 볼 때, 탄성으로 취급되는 얼음의 재료특성을 고려하여, 파괴시킬 수 있는 얼음의 최대두께와 파괴된 얼음의 특성길이를 수치적으로 추정하는데 주안점을 두고 있다. 본 연구에서는 빙해항행 선박이 평탄빙에서 연속쇄빙을 하고 있는 상황을 탄성지지기반 위에 놓인 유한 길이의 쐐기보에 작용한 충격하중의 문제로 가정하고 굽힘모멘트에 의해 어떤 위치에서 발생한 최대인장응력이 얼음의 굽힘파괴강도에 도달한다면 그 부분에서 파단이 일어날 가능성이 가장 높다고 판단한다.

대형 캐비테이션터널에서 몰수체 저항시험 및 위벽효과 수정 기법 연구 (Study of the Resistance Test and Wall Blockage Correction Method for the Submerged Body in LCT)

  • In order to study the resistance test technique for the submerged body in Large Cavitation Tunnel (LCT), DARPA Suboff, submarine model publicly available was manufactured. DTRC released the resistance test data of DARPA Suboff conducted at ship speeds up to 18.0 knots in high-speed towing tank in 1990. As LCT is considered restricted waterways with walls, the resistance test results must be corrected with three wall blockage effects called buoyancy effect, solid blockage effect and wake blockage effect. Before correction, the resistance of LCT was 16~20 % higher than that of DTRC. After correction, the resistance and the resistance coefficients were compared with those of DTRC. The corrected resistance of LCT shows good agreement with that of DTRC. The residual resistance coefficient shows the difference according to the calculation method of buoyancy and frictional resistance coefficient. This paper suggests the best way for the calculation of residual resistance coefficient, On the basis of the present study, it is thought that the operating conditions for the propeller cavitation and noise tests can be drawn through LCT tests.
